Documentation
This template can be used for wishing other editors a Happy New Year.
This template should always be substituted (i.e., use {{subst:User:Sam Sailor/Templates/HappyNewYear}}). |
This template uses {{{{{|safesubst:}}}CURRENTYEAR}}
, so use it from January 1st, but do not use it in December.
Usage
To use this template, copy the line below,
{{subst:User:Sam Sailor/Templates/HappyNewYear}}
then paste it into the bottom of the user talk page of an editor you wish to greet, enter an edit summary, and hit Save page.
The template automatically signs inside the box, so there is no need to append four tildes, ~~~~
It also automatically generates a level two heading that includes {{{{{|safesubst:}}}BASEPAGENAME}}, i.e. on User talk:Sam Sailor the heading will look like
Happy New Year, Sam Sailor!
Optional parameter
The template can take an optional parameter
- If posting on e.g. User talk:Example and you know the user's name is Patricia, use
{{subst:User:Sam Sailor/Templates/HappyNewYear|Patricia}}
– instead of "Example" in the heading and the greeting, you get "Patricia".
