An article you recently created, Siepmann, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. The article Werner Merzbacher has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.
If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. [edit]An article you recently created, Samuel Frey, is not suitable as written to remain published. While it appears to be notable, it needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:

- Can you please temporarily admit it into Wikipedia? It's written up-to-par with Wiki standards. There are six citations which refer him as Cantonal legislator which is enough to be listed. There are only citations for major newspaper since in Switzerland the archives are not entirely digitalized (therefore I am unable to break it down even further). Your submission at Articles for creation: Samuel Frey (February 13)
[edit]- If you would like to continue working on the submission, go to Draft:Samuel Frey and click on the "Edit" tab at the top of the window.
- If you do not edit your draft in the next 6 months, it will be considered abandoned and may be deleted.
- If you need any assistance, or have experienced any untoward behavior associated with this submission, you can ask for help at the Articles for creation help desk, on the reviewer's talk page or use Wikipedia's real-time chat help from experienced editors.
- Objection. There are reliable sources, one call away in the State Archives of Aargau. I cannot do more than tell you the signature of the archived materials, there was a previous discussion regarding adding this politician on the German wiki (since there are three of them bearing the same name). I was asked to add this article to avoid confusion. Theanonymoustypist (talk) 17:27, 22 February 2023 (UTC)
- Sorry, that would almost certainly be WP:OR and not useful here - not to mention that telling someone to visit an archive in person is a bit much for the purposes of verifiability! -- asilvering (talk) 17:54, 22 February 2023 (UTC)
- Sorry, but thats totally unreasonable. There are at least 2-3 sources provided (for a person that understands German) to see that this person was a member of the Grand Council of Aargau between 1901 and 1919. There is an acceptance letter provided in the form as picture (which I obtained from the archives). The notability is there on either side as a politician (see my log, I know what I'm writing about) or as a pioneer of the paper industry. Please watch closely and reconsider. Thanks. Theanonymoustypist (talk) 18:40, 22 February 2023 (UTC)
- Looking back at the draft, I'm not really sure why you're arguing with me in the first place? I declined the article for being almost entirely unsourced. You've since added nearly 5kb of references. I don't see what was unreasonable about my decline, and you've done what was asked of you, which was to add more references. Now, you wait for another reviewer to have a look. -- asilvering (talk) 19:20, 22 February 2023 (UTC)
- Don't get me wrong but that is simply ridiculous. I not only added references, I added literature and several more citations. The most important citations are there now which make the article notable for Wikipedia standards. Never has an article of mine be 'attacked' in this way. I don't know what else you need to have cited to admit the article into the encyclopedia. Normally, if minor issues there is 'citation needed' added behind and not the entire article is being declined. Some of the references are archive based and can only be indicated by signature of the archive. The most important reference due to political activity has been given, therefore the article is admissable. Theanonymoustypist (talk) 20:17, 22 February 2023 (UTC)
- Yes, you have improved the article. You have resubmitted it for review. I strongly suspect the reviewer will object to archival sources, but maybe they won't, or maybe they will accept the article and simply remove those parts; I don't know. de-wiki and en-wiki have different standards and WP:V is taken extremely seriously here, whereas de-wiki is more comfortable with uncited material as long as it appears factual and neutral. I'm sorry you feel that your work has been attacked, but I assure you that this is extremely normal and no one is going to think less of you or your draft for being declined. It has not been rejected outright, and is now waiting for a reviewer. -- asilvering (talk) 01:45, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
- I'm briefly following-up here. Is there a way to temporarily admit the article into Wiki until someone else can approve? I can add some alternate sources possibly from literature I've recently consulted. Theanonymoustypist (talk) 15:07, 22 March 2023 (UTC)
- Mm, technically yes, but it's often frowned upon. I'll explain:
- There are two types of "approval" that an article can go through. The first is AfC, where the article is waiting now. While an article is waiting to be "approved" through AfC, it is in draft form and not in mainspace. The second is WP:NPP, which is supposed to happen to all new articles in mainspace, whether they have been AfC reviewed or not. NPP can take several different actions: they can mark the article as "patrolled" (ie, "approve" it), they can add maintenance tags, they can send the article back to draftspace and tag it for AfC, or they can tag it for deletion outright.
- So, any new article is "temporarily admitted until approved", in the NPP sense. With AfC, there is no way to "temporarily admit" - the point is that AfC happens before mainspace. You're under no obligation to use AfC, so you can simply remove the AfC tags and move this article to mainspace yourself - nothing is stopping you, technically. But in general, that's often looked down on; once it's in AfC it's typically better to leave it there. Additionally, this article in particular was already moved to AfC by a new page patroller, so NPP won't be happy to see it back without having been accepted through AfC. That said, both the initial NPP patroller and the initial AfC reviewer (ie, me) objected to the lack of clear sourcing in the article, and you've significantly improved that since. It's not like you'd be moving the article straight back to mainspace without improvements after it was draftified.
- I'd advise you to leave it in AfC, and to add the additional sources. That it's been in the queue for a month suggests that reviewers don't think it's an easy call (the really obvious declines tend to happen very quickly). -- asilvering (talk) 18:24, 22 March 2023 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Kim Lundgren
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Kim Lundgren requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.legendseu.com/pages/kim-lundgren. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Replaceable non-free use File:L. Scott Frantz.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:L. Scott Frantz.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of non-free use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of non-free use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the file description page and add the text
{{Di-replaceable non-free use disputed|<your reason>}}
below the original replaceable non-free use template, replacing<your reason>
with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable. - On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy. Caraluzzi's moved to draftspace
[edit]An article you recently created, Caraluzzi's, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more in-depth coverage about the subject itself, with citations from reliable, independent sources in order to show it meets WP:GNG. It should have at least three, to be safe. And please remember that interviews, as primary sources, do not count towards GNG.(?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.Onel5969 TT me 11:02, 11 May 2023 (UTC)

- Objection
- Hi, I'm terribly sorry but this needs to be entered. He was a politician (Grand Council of Aargau) which is enough to qualify for a Wikipedia article. There are several citiations citing him as "Grossrat" which is the legislator. Theanonymoustypist (talk) 18:52, 18 June 2023 (UTC)
- @Theanonymoustypist It looks to me like you manually commented that at the bottom of the AfC decline message, so I don't think bradv will get a notification about it, and he probably won't notice you said anything. You can resubmit the article if you like, and leave your comment at the top of it (like my earlier comments are). AfC reviewers will notice it there for sure. -- asilvering (talk) 01:40, 19 June 2023 (UTC)
- Hi. I re-reviewed the draft, and am inclined to accept it unless asilvering or Bradv have objections. Members of Swiss cantonal parliaments pass WP:NPOL so he is notable, and there has been considerable sourcework since the February decline. While the sourcing is not perfect and there are still unsourced spots and some poor grammar, it seems good enough considering the subject is dead and there is a corresponding article in de.wiki. Curbon7 (talk) 04:16, 19 June 2023 (UTC)
- I'm curious how you can say this is automatically notable when List of members of the Grand Council of Aargau (2021–2024) is full of red links, and previous elections don't even have such lists. But if you think it's notable go ahead. – bradv 04:22, 19 June 2023 (UTC)
- WP:NPOL says that state-type legislature members are "presumed notable". Since it's AfC, not AfD, my interpretation of the guideline is that if there's a "presumed notable" we should accept unless there are other major problems, and let AfD have at it if anyone is inclined to take it there. Re: the redlinks specifically, I'd expect a lot of red links on anything about Switzerland or Austria tbh. Germany topics are usually better-covered. -- asilvering (talk) 04:28, 19 June 2023 (UTC)
- Perhaps you're right, but notability requires verification, and the sourcing on this article is abysmal. Maybe someone can find some better sources and then it can survive an AfD. Either way, if anyone thinks this is worthwhile then they should accept it and we can go from there. – bradv 04:36, 19 June 2023 (UTC)
- Well, there is an easy explanation about those many red links within the Swiss cantonal legislatures. The cantonal parliaments are part-time only and many of those politicians write their entries themselves (when they are actually interested in having one). Then this is mostly only in one or two official languages. I already started to translate a lot of articles (National Council) into English since there is also a lack (and this would be comparable to the House of Representatives in the US).
- As far as the 'Samuel Frey' article goes. There aren't many sources you can cite directly because the cantonal archives with further records aren't entirely digitalized. I have added several citations right behind the office from the newspapers archive (the only one that's digitalized a majority of Swiss newspaper from the 19th and 20th century) - there is a picture attached to the article which shows his acceptance into the legislature. Further he founded a major Swiss company which is very well-known. Please admit this article into Wikipedia - it's relevance is obivous. Theanonymoustypist (talk) 13:21, 19 June 2023 (UTC)
- I've tried to explain above that sources from cantonal archives are not typically acceptable on en-wiki. We require published, secondary sources. "Relevance" is a de-wiki concept. en-wiki, for the most part, only considers the sourcing in articles, not anything inherent to the subject itself. -- asilvering (talk) 14:44, 19 June 2023 (UTC)
- Correct, but six sources referring him as "Grossrat" by notable newspapers such as NZZ should be enough to get this article admitted. Period. Theanonymoustypist (talk) 14:47, 19 June 2023 (UTC)
- I'm sorry, but that is not consistent with notability guidelines. You're welcome to believe and to argue that it should be enough, but it currently is not. -- asilvering (talk) 14:49, 19 June 2023 (UTC)
- Honestly, this is ridiculous. There are the only sources that are obtainable in this article. There is an acceptance letter copied (including the origin of this from the State Archive). He is relevant alone in the politician category - but how to proof? Are you proficient of the German language? There are also so called 'state calendars' attached which are used for official governmental communication (eg about new members where he is mentioned in 1901 through 1919). If this is not enough how would any article proof here. Theanonymoustypist (talk) 14:57, 19 June 2023 (UTC)
- just to add usually one source (from the State - the government agency in itself) should be enough Theanonymoustypist (talk) 14:57, 19 June 2023 (UTC)

- I have no problem with that, though you may want to check for verifiability (I haven't, and I recall there were a bunch of archival sources involved earlier). As an fyi, de-wiki has a very different notability system than en-wiki, so a corresponding de-wiki article doesn't necessarily mean much here (there are a lot more SNGs on de-wiki, basically). That's not a problem in this particular case because we have WP:NPOL. -- asilvering (talk) 04:23, 19 June 2023 (UTC)
- also for you Cantonal legislators are usually admitted without problem (I've translated a few of those). Secondly, this person founded a major Swiss company and was very active as philanthropist. Absolutely notable and normally there is no discussion to admit such an article rather easily. Theanonymoustypist (talk) 13:24, 19 June 2023 (UTC)

Hi thanks for creating this article. When we translate or borrow from other language wikis it’s a requirement to acknowledge the source. The best way to do this is to include it in your edit summary (e.g. “translated from nl.wiki”) and there’s also a translation template you can add to the talk page. It looks as though the en.wiki article may be a part-translation from one or more other wikis. If you can confirm whether you translated material for this article I’ll add the template to the talk page for you if it is needed. Happy editing and please leave a message on my talk page if you need any help Mccapra (talk) 21:45, 23 August 2023 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Darren Henault
[edit]Hello Theanonymoustypist,
I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Darren Henault for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly indicate why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.
If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

[edit]An article you recently created, Cham Group, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:

Replaceable non-free use File:Tim Guldimann cropped.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Tim Guldimann cropped.png.
{{Di-replaceable non-free use disputed|<your reason>}}
below the original replaceable non-free use template, replacing<your reason>
with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable. - On the file's talk page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.
If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 11:23, 4 May 2024 (UTC)
- Non-free images of still living persons are pretty much never allowed per Wikipedia's non-free content use policy because it pretty much all instances it's not unreasonable to expect that a free equivalent image capable of serving the same encyclopedic purpose as any non-free can either be newly created or found to already exist. This file is, in fact, a cropped version of the freely licensed File:Guldimann4300.tif, which means you can crop or otherwise modify that image as you like as long as you comply with the terms of that license; in other words, there's no need to treat this or any other version of that Commons file as non-free. For reference, the cropping of a freely licensed file is almost always not considered to be sufficient creative input under US copyright law or the copyright laws of most countries to generate a new copyright for the crop. The only possible problem would be whether the Commons file is truly acceptable as licensed and was uploaded under a valid claim of c:COM:Own work. If the Commons file is a case of c:COM:NETCOPYVIO, then the file (including an crops or otherwise modified versions) will need to be deleted. So, you might want to ask about the licensing of the full-sized original file at c:COM:VPC, If the licensing turns out to be OK, you can crop the file and upload the crop to Commons. -- Marchjuly (talk) 11:43, 4 May 2024 (UTC)
File:Hans A. Sulzer.png
[edit]If the description for File:Hans A. Sulzer.png is correct and it was first published in the U.S. in 1917, it's almost certain to no be longer eligible for copyright protection under U.S copyright law as explained in c:COM:HIRTLE and c:COM:United States. You should ask about this file at either WP:MCQ or c:COM:VPC because if it's now within the public domain according to U.S. copyright, there's no need for it to be licensed as non-free content and there's no reason it can't be hosted on Wikimedia Commons instead. If you've uploaded any other non-free files that were clearly first published prior to January 1, 1929, then you might want to ask about them at COM:VPC as well because there's a good chance that they too are no longer eligible for copyright protection. -- Marchjuly (talk) 11:32, 4 May 2024 (UTC)

Non-attributed translations
[edit]Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you translated text from de:Rosely Schweizer to another page. While you are welcome to translate Wikipedia content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing requires that you provide attribution to the contributor(s) of the original article. When translating from a foreign-language Wikipedia article, this is supplied at a minimum in an edit summary on the page where you add translated content, identifying it as a translation and linking it to the source page. For example:
Content in this edit is translated from the existing French Wikipedia article at [[:fr:Exact name of French article]]; see its history for attribution.
It is good practice, especially if translation is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{translated page}} template on the talk page of the destination article. If you have added translated content previously which was not attributed at the time it was added, you must add attribution retrospectively, even if it was a long time ago. You can read more about author attribution and the reasons for it at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. C F A 💬 19:39, 10 July 2024 (UTC)

Retroactive attribution may be added using a dummy edit; see Repairing insufficient attribution. Thank you. —TechnoSquirrel69 (sigh) 22:34, 19 September 2024 (UTC)

Sources for Adam Dunsby
[edit]Your recent edit to the article for Adam Dunsby states that "He was raised in Clinton Township, New Jersey and attended North Hunterdon High School." No source was provided, nor can I find any source to back this claim up after determined effort. What is your source for the details about his hometown and high school?
