Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "TheTVGuys", may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because it suggests this is a group or shared account. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may ask for a change of username by completing the form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest, or you may simply create a new account for editing. Thank you. 331dot (talk) 17:34, 1 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

This account is not shared by multiple people, therefore my username should be acceptable. I only made my username, "TheTVGuys", because "TheTVGuy", was already taken. — Preceding unsigned comment added by TheTVGuys (talkcontribs)

"Guys" unambiguously refers to more than one person. There are also multiple entities called "The TV Guys" if you google the name. I strongly suggest that you change your username. 331dot (talk) 18:05, 1 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited 2020 NBA All-Star Game, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Joe Harris (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Thanks for uploading File:MLB at Field of Dreams.png. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Non-free rationale for File:MLB at Field of Dreams.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:MLB at Field of Dreams.png. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F6 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — JJMC89(T·C) 03:53, 24 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Franchise total episodes

[edit]

I suggest that you change {{Franchise Total Episodes}}, Module:Franchise Total Episodes and associated documentation to the correct capitalisation, which is "Franchise total episodes" before someone else does it and possibly screws things up. --AussieLegend () 18:20, 16 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, regarding this module. The idea is great, but it's nowhere near ready for the mainspace. I've glanced over the code and and its documentation and its full of arbitrary rules, unneeded parameters and almost 90% redundant and duplicate code. Please work some more on it before implementing it to mainspace. --Gonnym (talk) 14:29, 17 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Perfect, thanks for your help! Quick question, is it possible to run some sort of bot to remove all instances of duplicated templates? For example, some had both the Kooora and Goalzz template in the External links section, and now it shows the same template twice. Nehme1499 (talk) 21:03, 29 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A bit many relists?

[edit]

I think you are doing a bit more relists than necessary at TfD. Many of the templates you relisted at Wikipedia:Templates for discussion/Log/2020 July 5 could probably be soft deleted instead. While I don't think soft deletion should be used for all discussions with zero participation blatantly non controversial templates such as many of the ones here there is no reason to list them for another week. --Trialpears (talk) 15:22, 5 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I'll try to do more soft deletions rather that relisting for uncontroversial templates in the future. TheTVExpert (talk) 23:55, 5 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hello, just to let you know that I have reverted your page move from Nick Jordan (character) to Nick Jordan (Casualty and Holby City) as the guidelines (WP:NCTV, which you referenced) actually states: if the character appears in many different titles, use Character name (character), so therefore we use Nick Jordan (character). Magnum P.I. (2018) image

[edit]

Hey, TheTVExpert. I was the one who attempted to post the new Magnum image. Things must have changed since I was here last. Is there any way to include the actual title image? I see MacGyver and H50 have theirs (and they seem to be screenshots) but I cannot find the justification on Wikipedia to keep it there without it being deleted. Is there a way to re-post the Magnum title screen and keep it there? I only ask because the one there now looks so generic. AntiHeroDwight (talk) 13:08, 17 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Magnum season articles

[edit]

Hey! Thanks for fixing up those links on the first season Magnum article. If you're interested in helping I'll probably be looking to start a second season article in my sandbox either today or tomorrow if I can pull together enough information (although with the Lenkov drama shouldn't be hard).

As a side note, Draft:MacGyver (2016 TV series, season 5) is looking pretty solid and could probably be published. The other episode titles from here could be added as well if you're looking for more info. TheDoctorWho (talk) 22:27, 11 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@TheDoctorWho: Sure, I could probably help with the second season article. I am planning to probably publish the MacGyver season 5 draft soon once I add some more information. Also, thanks for the source. TheTVExpert (talk) 22:33, 11 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks again for catching all the link mistakes and other things on the second season article, when you work on something like that for so long you start missing the obvious things like that. Hopefully I'll get to the season 3 article soon. I noticed your draft of the pilot, I have the DVD set which has a behind-the-scenes feature specifically for that episode as well as a deleted scene. I'll see if I can pull some production info from that and add it for you. Thanks, TheDoctorWho (talk) 21:37, 9 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Page mover granted

[edit]

Hello, TheTVExpert. Your account has been granted the "extendedmover" user right, either following a request for it or demonstrating familiarity with working with article names and moving pages. You are now able to rename pages without leaving behind a redirect, move subpages when moving the parent page(s), and move category pages.

Please take a moment to review Wikipedia:Page mover for more information on this user right, especially the criteria for moving pages without leaving redirect. Please remember to follow post-move cleanup procedures and make link corrections where necessary, including broken double-redirects when suppressredirect is used. This can be done using Special:WhatLinksHere. It is also very important that no one else be allowed to access your account, so you should consider taking a few moments to secure your password. As with all user rights, be aware that if abused, or used in controversial ways without consensus, your page mover status can be revoked.

Useful links:

If you do not want the page mover right anymore, just let me know, and I'll remove it. Thank you, and happy editing! Primefac (talk) 17:48, 24 December 2020 (UTC) Also, please see the permalink for some extra notes[reply]

The article Last Man Standing (season 8) you nominated as a good article has passed ; see Talk:Last Man Standing (season 8) for comments about the article. Well done! If the article has not already appeared on the main page as a "Did you know" item, or as a bold link under "In the News" or in the "On This Day" prose section, you can nominate it within the next seven days to appear in DYK. I'm wondering if there is a bot that can automatically find certain links and change them (which is sometimes necessary after a page move). So it would go to the "What links here" of page Foo, and go to every target and change all occurrences of [[Foo]] to [[Foo (bar)|Foo]]. Thanks,VR talk 22:52, 22 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Paine Ellsworth: since you wrote this, do you know?VR talk 23:23, 22 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
To editor VR: thank you for asking! When I have had to perform that kind of cleanup, I either did it manually or I used AWB for when there were a lot of pages on the What links here list. I know of no bot that does this, probably because it does not happen often, and when it does happen, there are ususally only a few links that need to be changed. WT:BOT might be a good place to ask. I don't know a lot about bots, but it's my understanding that while bots are tasked to do specific jobs, sometimes they can be tweaked to do other jobs as long as they have been approved. suggestions for User:TheTVExpert/rmCloser

[edit]

Hello. I hope you are doing well. I recently started using User:TheTVExpert/rmCloser, and I find it very useful. Just two suggestions though, first is regarding notifying the wikiprojects. If there are multiple wikiprojects listed on the talkpage, the script gives option to notify only one wikiproject at a time. It would be very helpful if the user can send notifications to multiple wikiprojects at the same time/in one go. The second suggestion is not that much important. Currently, if the user moves page using the script, then in the edit summary, link to RM discussion is from older page. If the link to target page is provided, then this would be solved. But this is not much important. Also, thank you very much for creating the script. —usernamekiran (talk) 17:22, 3 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@UtherSRG Adding a new section to the script's talk page is probably the best place. However, you do not need to tag them as an edit request. Merge notify

[edit]

Thank you very much for User:TheTVExpert/rmCloser. Although, I do not use it often, I find it very useful.

I was wondering if a similar script could be forked/created to notify associated WikiProjects about merger discussions. As I understand it, rmCloser identifies requested moves based on the template. Would it be possible to target the string "Proposed merge of" on talk pages where a merger conversation is happening? It would be useful to notify associated WikiProjects when there is contentious discussion or when there is a very old merge tag to get the conversation going. It could be its own new script or it could be a new component of rmCloser. Just an idea! Thanks, --Classicwiki (talk) If you reply here, please ping me. 20:33, 13 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Same goes for splits ("Split proposal"). -- Classicwiki (talk) If you reply here, please ping me. 00:25, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Classicwiki I think this would work best as a separate script. What would you think about a script that just adds a button under the header of every article talk page section (maybe limited to those with recent comments) and allows the user to select which WikiProjects with banners on the page that they want to notify, select a type of message (merge discussion, split proposal, other discussion, etc.), and preview and customize the message? TheTVExpert (talk) 18:38, 15 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@TheTVExpert, I think that is a great idea. It allows for various other discussion types to be added.
If you are looking for test cases (just on merge and split):
I like the idea of limiting to recent conversations (maybe a comment within the past year?).
The only problem I see is WikiProjects becoming overwhelmed/annoyed with the automated talk page notifications on their talk pages. Is there a way to prevent abuse? Limiting script usage by edit count, rights, etc.? --Classicwiki (talk) If you reply here, please ping me. 23:22, 15 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
