DYK for Parengyodontium album

[edit]

On 12 July 2024, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Parengyodontium album, which you recently nominated. The fact was ... that the marine fungal species Parengyodontium album only breaks down polyethylene plastics that have been exposed to ultraviolet light? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Parengyodontium album. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Parengyodontium album), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

July music

[edit]
story · music · places

I remember today Bach's 1724 cantata for this Sunday which is unusual in many respects. Thank you for pointing me at Liana Isakadze to the Main page, but another woman needs attention for RD, Marina Kondratyeva. -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:22, 14 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

She's on the Main page now. My story today is - because of the anniversary of the premiere OTD in 1782 - about Die Entführung aus dem Serail, opera by Mozart, while yesterday's was - because of the TFA - about Les contes d'Hoffmann, opera by Offenbach, - so 3 times Mozart if you click on "music" ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 11:42, 16 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Today's story is about a photographer who took iconic pictures, especially View from Williamsburg, Brooklyn, on Manhattan, 9/11, yesterday's was a great mezzo, and on Thursday we watched a sublime ballerina. If that's not enough my talk offers the chamber music from two amazing concerts. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:38, 20 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Helianthus devernii

The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Helianthus devernii. Eponymous categories

[edit]

Hi Classicwiki, While posting an unrelated question to Plantdrew I noticed you had previously posted on their talkpage about categorisation of taxa by eponym: User talk:Plantdrew#Cat_idea. If you haven't already come across it in the intervening period, I thought you might be interested in a categorisation scheme along those lines that already exists on Wikispecies: [1]. Unlike the eponyms categories on Wikipedia it looks as though that scheme is quite actively used and well-populated. Kind regards, YFB ¿ 21:17, 22 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
