New localization of artist's name - Skryptonite

You have undone my spelling fixes by the artist Skryptonite. You can notice that on services (for example, Spotify, YouTube) exactly this spelling is indicated - Skryptonite. In this regard, on Wikipedia, you must also indicate the correct spelling of the artist's name. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Musica36 (talkcontribs) 17:18, 22 December 2021 (UTC)

adding a citation

A paragraph needed a citation, so I added one. Why are you reverting?

This is why Wiki struggles for editors; these inane, random, and power tripping bots / mods. Keepflying1006 (talk) 08:24, 25 December 2021 (UTC)

Joan Stark "jgs"

Hi Serols. Not sure to understand why you've reverted my addition to Joan Stark page stating this edit as not constructive. As explained in the edit summary, I've contributed to the infobox and added an ASCII art autoportrait of the artist. Please explain further the problem.

Benoit rigaut (talk) 15:11, 27 December 2021 (UTC)

Hello Benoit rigaut, please note Wikipedia:Article_titles#Use_commonly_recognizable_names. Regards --Serols (talk) 15:18, 27 December 2021 (UTC)

Ok Serols, I think you referring to my infobox name change, extending the artist name of the page title with "jgs", her artistic signature. I was not aware there was such a strict policy for page name = infobox name section. I'm publishing again without this change. Still, you'll see that the infobox name is Joan G. Stark and thus not exactly Joan Stark as the page name... Benoit rigaut (talk) 15:38, 27 December 2021 (UTC)

Hello Benoit rigaut, your edit is perfect now. Regards --Serols (talk) 15:43, 27 December 2021 (UTC)

wrong information

Hello Serols

Someone is adding original content to the page Boussouar El Maghnaoui ([1]). 197.247.136.47 (talk) 20:12, 27 December 2021 (UTC)

They are still doing it. 197.247.128.9 (talk) 18:09, 29 December 2021 (UTC)

Hello 197.247.128.9, please use sources, without your edits are distruptiv. --Serols (talk) 18:12, 29 December 2021 (UTC)
I reverted ([2]) the distruption ([3]). Another account removed again the reliable sources ([4]) and another account added an unreliable sources and original content ([5] [6] [7]), I reverted them again [8] and they reverted me again without bringing any reliable sources [9], I reverted them again and explained the problem that they need to adress [10], they reverted again withou explaing anything [11] and started adding the unreliable source (Discogs) and they even removed a reliable source (telquel), I reverted them again with the same explanation [12], they reverted again [13] with no explanation and added a relibale source [14] where the author never talked about Boussouar's origins (page 24), I reverted them again end explained that Swedenburg didn't mention his origins [15] they reverted me again and told me to read the whole paper the thing that I already did [16], I reverted them again and told them that Swedenburg didn't mention his origins. 197.247.128.9 (talk) 21:35, 29 December 2021 (UTC)
Hello 197.247.128.9, please write a comment on the relevant article talk pages, this is the best way to proceed. Also a good point of contact Wikipedia:Help desk. Regards --Serols (talk) 14:42, 30 December 2021 (UTC)

Badge of Shame

Respected Serols. You, are really senior to me, but still I am telling you this. Users can remove content from their talk page at their will, and there is nothing wrong in doing so. You reverted the edit, when the user removed the warning messages. However, that is not right. The warnings are not badges of shame. Plus, they can remove content from their talk page according to the talk page guidelines. So, is it justified in making that edit? Please correct me if I have said something wrong. Thanks and regards. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 10:18, 11 January 2022 (UTC)

Hello Itcouldbepossible, I know that he can do that. But sometimes it is necessary because the Huggle program starts from the beginning every time. This prevents an automatic message on Wikipedia: Administrator intervention against vandalism. Regards --Serols (talk) 10:26, 11 January 2022 (UTC)
Really serols, I was busy with many other things at the Wikipedia.
Ok, I understand you. So, Huggle sends automatic messages to WP:AIV? Is it what you meant by This prevents an automatic message on Wikipedia: Administrator intervention against vandalism? I must know how Huggle works, because I have been granted rollback rights, and I need to use it properly. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 05:53, 13 January 2022 (UTC)

Help with Huggle

Hey Serols! Since I often see you using HUggle I'd like some help figuring out how to use it myself. I used it a little bit last night, but I had a hard time understanding what I was looking at. One of the things I"d like help with setting up with Huggle is a filter to filter out soem of the good edits and show more bad edits (of course, even with the filter it isn't always bad). ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 14:39, 13 January 2022 (UTC)

My edits to Deonte Harris’s page are correct. He changed his last name to Harty around Christmas to honor his stepfather. It is a little ridiculous that my edits are repeatedly changed when this information is extremely simple to verify. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dylanstout39 (talkcontribs) 18:12, 13 January 2022 (UTC)

Our recent contacts at AIV

Hi, Serols. Before I say anything else, I should like to say that it's very unusual for me to find any fault with your reports at AIV. I spend quite a lot of time checking reports which are without merit, but when I see your username I can confidently expect to see a good report. This time, though, I don't agree with you. You linked to this diff, in which you posted on the IP talk page "Hello, that makes no sense -> name = fullname". When I first saw your report, in answer to a post from Girth Summit, you had written "name = fullname is nonsense". I wasted some time checking the last 20 edits from that IP address to try to find one which inserted the text "name = fullname" into an article, before I realised what you meant. I have been a regular Wikipedia editor for over 15 years, and have made over 160,000 edits, and it wasn't by any means obvious to me what you meant. How much more likely is it that it would be unclear to a new editor? It really is important to think how something will look to an inexperienced editor without prior knowledge of what you are referring to, and if there's any reasonable chance that it may not be clear then more explanation is needed. JBW (talk) 21:59, 17 January 2022 (UTC)

Hello JBW, thank you very much for your kind words, I mean that seriously. Unfortunately, I was not aware, that my comment could be incomprehensible. Three months ago there were the same edits, maybe from the same user, and there were no problems understanding them, see here. It would have been clearer if I had written: fullname = name. I'll make sure to answer in more detail in the future. Have a nice day. Regards --Serols (talk) 16:31, 18 January 2022 (UTC)
What JBW said, in every respect - both with regards to the general quality of your AIV reports/patrolling, and this particular issue. I wasn't sure what you meant by that at first, I had to dig through the diffs to work it out. I don't want to give you a hard time - indeed, your indefatigable work in patrolling is one of the unsung pillars of this project, which I don't want to discourage - but that wasn't clearcut vandalism, and a few seconds spent explaining the issue properly would have been worthwhile. Girth Summit (blether) 22:30, 17 January 2022 (UTC)
Hello Girth Summit, thank you very much for your kind words, that made me very happy too. I actually never wrote about vandalism, but about disruptive editing, see the user talk page. After four warnings, the Huggle program automatically sends a message to AIV, unfortunately with the text vandalism. But that was never a problem until yesterday. Maybe I should change that in the future. I would also like to thank you for your explanation on the IP talk page. Unfortunately it was in vain, the IP continues today where he/she left off yesterday, see here. But I won't change that anymore. In the future I will answer more detailed. Have a nice day. Regards --Serols (talk) 16:31, 18 January 2022 (UTC)
Hello Girth Summit, is still active with disruptive edits. Regards --Serols (talk) 16:43, 20 January 2022 (UTC)
Indeed they are - I guess we've done all we can with regards to steering them, I've blocked the IP from article space for a week. Perhaps that'll prompt them to investigate their talk page. Girth Summit (blether) 16:56, 20 January 2022 (UTC)
