[edit]Hello, I'm Ts12rAc. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Virbhadra Singh, but you didn't provide a source. I’ve removed it for now, but if you’d like to include a citation to a reliable source and re-add it, please do so! If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Ts12rActalk to me 08:55, 9 July 2021 (UTC)
Wikipedia and copyright
[edit]Hello Cookersweet! Your additions to Commissioning pennant have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.
- You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
- Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
- We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
- If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
- Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.
It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 16:32, 22 August 2021 (UTC)

[edit]Your edit to St. Edward's School, Shimla has been removed in whole or in part, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. If you are the copyright holder, please read Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for more information on uploading your material to Wikipedia. For legal reasons, Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted material, including text or images from print publications or from other websites, without an appropriate and verifiable license. All such contributions will be deleted. You may use external websites or publications as a source of information, but not as a source of content, such as sentences or images—you must write using your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously, and persistent violators of our copyright policy will be blocked from editing. See Wikipedia:Copying text from other sources for more information. stwalkerster (talk) 21:49, 24 November 2021 (UTC)
Formatting
[edit]Can you explain what you're doing with the formatting here? I'm having trouble seeing how that's an improvement. Is there a WP:MOS style guideline regarding the introduction of horizontal rules in the infoboxes that I'm not aware of? OhNoitsJamie Talk 14:38, 9 December 2021 (UTC)
I do not know much about Wikipedia's editing rules but the double colon shifts text leftwards than other texts in infobox. In the edit above there was no need for that and infobox looks better without it. I am changing it back, you can revert my edit if you think it's wrong. 👍👍 Cookersweet (talk) 14:12, 10 December 2021 (UTC)
Merge
[edit]Please, I suggest merging the India House, London, cause, already there are [like] ton of different embassy pages, and we are trying to reduce the bulk.
So please, assist in merging the Indian embassy/high commissions to either List of diplomatic missions of India or the diplomatic relations with/of India. Utkarsh555 (talk) 15:18, 24 December 2021 (UTC)
India House have more historic value than just being a diplomatic mission. Moreover the article is more about the building (Grade II rated) and its significance during the British Raj era. Cookersweet (talk) 22:56, 26 December 2021 (UTC)
- @Cookersweet ok, as you say so. Utkarsh555 (talk) 09:57, 27 December 2021 (UTC)
infobox icons
[edit]Please don't add flag and icons to infoboxes as you did at Raj Mohan Vohra per MOS:INFOBOXFLAG and MOS:ICON I had just removed those a month before you put them back. Although they were once common, consensus as changed and they should be removed. MB 19:00, 9 January 2022 (UTC)
Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution
[edit] Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from History of the Indian Air Force into Royal Indian Air Force. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution
. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 19:45, 14 January 2022 (UTC)
@Diannaa: Thankyou for helping but can you provide attribution as I am not clear how to do that. Cookersweet (talk) 20:19, 14 January 2022 (UTC)
- Do it in the edit summary at the time you copy the content. Diff of Royal Indian Air Force— Diannaa (talk) 23:11, 14 January 2022 (UTC)
Got it. 👍 Cookersweet (talk) 08:21, 15 January 2022 (UTC)
- Wikilink the article the text comes from. Doug Weller talk 10:10, 15 April 2022 (UTC)
Source at Aurangzeb
[edit]That was just someone's website, fails WP:RS. If it's encyclopaedic there should be a reliable source, preferably academic. Doug Weller talk 10:11, 15 April 2022 (UTC)
Overlinking
[edit]Hi there Cookersweet. I noticed your revert. What's the benefit of all the links to the reader? We have WP:OVERLINK for a reason. Links are better when they are not too densely packed. John (talk) 20:49, 13 August 2022 (UTC)
Continuing reverts on Indian Armed Forces rank flags
[edit]Your reverts are disruptive to the page at this point. Please stop. There were entirely valid reasons a) to remove the hack that was in place, and b) always to use simpler wikitext if possible. Izno (talk) 16:28, 25 August 2022 (UTC)

[edit]Hello, I'm Swapnil1101. I noticed that you recently removed content from Indian Naval Ensign without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. For Removing the New Naval Ensign. Central Armed Police Forces: Please don't revert big changes for minor edits
[edit]Your revert on Central Armed Police Forces is disruptive. Please fix only the portion you disagree with. Reverting entire section of updates for minor changes is loss of meaningful contribution by other authors. Abhay.s (talk) 11:02, 13 September 2022 (UTC)
Please see comments on the talk page. Reference to official government report shows that your assertion about Assam Rifles is wrong. September 2022: Parliamentary Standing Committee On Home Affairs' report Working conditions in Border Guarding Forces clearly states that Assam Rifles is a CAPF on page no 1 (page 19 of the PDF file). Assam Bengal Railway vs. Bengal & Assam Railway
[edit]Hello Cookersweet, you have removed the Assam Bengal Railway from the List of railway companies in India. But this is not the same. The Assam Bengal Railway existed from 1892 to 1942 and the Bengal and Assam Railway from 1942 to 1947. The two companies are covered in a single article, thats right, but they were two different companies. I think it would be better if all former Indian railway companies were included in the list. Bernhard Rieger (talk) 17:12, 9 October 2022 (UTC)
I thought it was just repetition. There is no problem in keeping both if they were different. Cookersweet (talk) 21:33, 10 October 2022 (UTC)

Blocked as a sockpuppet
[edit]Note that multiple accounts are allowed, but not for illegitimate reasons, and any contributions made while evading blocks or bans may be reverted or deleted.
If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you should review the guide to appealing blocks, and then appeal your block by adding the following text below this notice:
{{unblock|Your reason here ~~~~}}
. Note that anything you post in your unblock request will be public, so you may alternatively use the Unblock Ticket Request System to submit an appeal if it contains information that must be private.Administrators: Checkusers have access to confidential system logs not accessible by the public or by administrators due to the Wikimedia Foundation's privacy policy. You must not loosen or remove this block, or issue an IP block exemption, without consulting with a checkuser or the Arbitration Committee. Administrators who undo checkuser blocks without permission from a checkuser or the Arbitration Committee may be summarily desysopped.

Request reason:
I have been blocked for using multiple accounts and I don't think I have done anything wrong as Wikipedia allows to have them. I used separate accounts for contributing from different devices and you can check that no vandalism or wrong edits were done through them. I have three account @Soap Boy 1:, @Cookersweet: and @Shishupal Nagar:. I request you to please unblock me.
Decline reason:
As you see nothing wrong with your violations of WP:SOCK, there are no grounds to consider lifting the block. Yamla (talk) 22:03, 12 January 2023 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
