Bottom list
Hi, did you add your recent Ireland articles to the bottom list? I use that list for patrol so if I've not attended to yours and approved for a while it's because I missed them in the main list. Add them to main list and I'll see them sooner! Thanks.♦ Dr. Blofeld 14:32, 12 March 2020 (UTC)
- Ah, sorry @Dr. Blofeld:, I think that for my last two I did only Steps 1-2, not the main list (whereas its Step 4, updating the chart counts, that I should have waited for ticking). Will do main list directly in future. Thanks, enjoying the pursuit. SeoR (talk) 16:04, 12 March 2020 (UTC)

- Thank you @Dr. Blofeld:; I really appreciate the event, and it has been good practice in quality improvement of the over-large Stub base (it does take a while to do it properly). The body of editors working on Ireland is not so big just now, but I also hope some more of the active editors in the Ireland space can join (some *are* on the participant list). (talk page stalker) What's this "bottom list" you guys are referring to? ww2censor (talk) 14:33, 20 March 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks @Ww2censor: - it's the main progress record in the current destubbing push (Wikipedia:The Great Britain/Ireland Destubathon), which it's proving good fun. There is a set of county tallies for each of England, Ireland and Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales, and then the main list (over 60% of the way to the target 1,000 articles across the month), with various classification totals. Meantime, how is OTRS volunteer work going? SeoR (talk) 17:30, 20 March 2020 (UTC)

A request
Hello SeoR. I do not add any pings, this message is not in a hurry. But I have been unwell for a time, and will be little around for some further period. I recalled that we have crossed paths on occasion, and that you did help tune one or two of my previous article "launches." So I wonder if I could impose with a draft I was preparing. Should you be willing, in fact, I'd be happy for you to take any of my drafts to a next step, but one I had not yet posted was quite promising already in January. It filled a clear gap, and linked to an article you kindly reviewed and improved. Here it is:
Judith Ann Rasmussen Dushku (born 1942, Idaho, US) is an academic political scientist, writer and humanitarian...
I wish you and the project well, and I do hope to return to editing later in this auspicious year 2020. Twilson r (talk) 17:22, 13 February 2020 (UTC)
- Hello @Twilson r:, and sorry to hear that, and hoping you are able to return soon. An interesting choice of subject; challenge accepted (I was just in another 1:1 editor dialogue the other week, and thinking I should do more article creation). Content removed from Talk page but will develop it over in subpages. Best, SeoR (talk) 19:43, 13 February 2020 (UTC)

- I can only say “Thank you” and I give two years that your edit summaries sought. 1980, 1991. Twilson r (talk) 14:43, 14 February 2020 (UTC)
- I send thanks and apologies both. I never meant to give you so much trouble but I am glad the article survived. If you would like a further challenge, I can offer my drafts page, and also one new prospect. Late last week reports reached the press that the leader of the Dunsany Castle operation, Lady Maria Alice Dunsany, had died. I can commend her as quite a character, running the EState, Lord Dunsany literary estate and still designing buildings too. 2020 is not looking great for me but best wishes. Twilson r (talk) 15:13, 20 April 2020 (UTC)
- No worries, I enjoyed assembling the article, albeit I was surprised at a couple of the comments which arose in the AfD discussion, and I did learn a good deal. The bar for new articles may now, at least in some perceptions, have become a bit high, and I speak having studied literally thousands of less-notable topics filling corners of the encyclopedia. As for another article, let's see, I did a month with a de-stubbing focus, and have now resumed assessments as my main focus, but I would like to do more new article work, and the topic you mention would also fit the Women in Red initiative I signed-up to. SeoR (talk) 17:53, 20 April 2020 (UTC)
Hello there. This is an invitation to join the 50,000 Destubbing Challenge Focus of the Week. £250 (c. $310) up for grabs in May, June and July with £20 worth of prizes to give away every week for most articles destubbed. Each week there is a different region of focus, though half the prize will still be rewarded for articles on any subject. Laurel Lodge and Old Navan Road
I noticed your debate with yourself about Laurel Lodge and Old Navan Road. If this was the civil parish article, there would be not doubt about the matter. The townland limits are clearly visible. However, this article is about the suburb so who's to say what defines it? The CSO? It sounds like we're in WP:OP territory on this point. Laurel Lodged (talk) 08:48, 26 May 2020 (UTC)
- Hi @Laurel Lodged:! So far I have not opened a debate, but just tried Google (not scientific, I know), in following up on a comment by Guliolopez, probably the most active patroller of Irish locality articles, who was in turn reviewing an IP edit. I was a little surprised, as I had always thought that there was a bit of Castleknock (reached via Auburn Road) beyond the M50 - but it seems that the IP was right, townland-wise. However, it's not so simple, as I know only too well, coming from another suburb with three "grey areas" on its borders - one firmly "in," one pretty definitely "out" but still using the district in addresses, and one 50/50. I can imagine similar debates about Knockmaroon Hill, for example - most people I know think it's in Chapelizod (as do most residents of the latter, one branch of my family coming from there) but I noticed, when checking the point about Blanchardstown townland, that the bulk of it is formally Castleknock...
- So I am not planning to venture into this quagmire, if possible. I would hope that someone local to the area in question could produce some nice citations to sort out the matter. Or the IP editor (who previously edited another suburb article, but was fully reverted, having provided not a single source). Failing that I will eventually try to get to a library for one of the two books on Castleknock that I know of (The Candle in the Window, and the Reynolds memoir), and seek something on Blanchardstown (for such a major area, I can't remember a specific book, rather it is covered within other texts, incl. the Castleknock ones, AFAIK). And yes, probably something on the Talk pages of Castleknock and Blanchardstown will be needed to finalise matters. SeoR (talk) 13:38, 26 May 2020 (UTC)
- Yes those 2 books are the main local sources. The 1840's colour maps from the OSI make it clear what townlands are in / not in the civil parish. The townland of Castleknock goes all the way to the southern tip of junction 6 on the M50. The unofficial district known as "Laurel Lodge" is probably co-terminous with the Catholic St Thomas the Apostle parish, Laurel Lodge. There's a useful line drawing there. But as i said above, who'e to say what the boundaries of a suburb are? Laurel Lodged (talk) 14:15, 26 May 2020 (UTC)

Hi, thank you for reverting these edits. Your edit summary was "May well be correct but requires referencing."; while this is understandable, I just wanted to make you aware that, in fact, the edits were routine vandalism ("bewaqoof" roughly translates from Urdu as "dumb"). Best, M Imtiaz (talk · contribs) 22:21, 8 August 2020 (UTC)

- Thanks to you also DePiep, between you and the subsequent IP editor, the article has advanced nicely. As to that "- -" formation, I am pretty sure it was introduced by a passing IP some time ago, and now it is gone, replaced with a restructured sentence, and that's fine - in my locale, at least, we don't use double dashes like that, but I have seen them occasionally used. St Patrick's Cathedral, Dublin
It is true that I removed a cited point regarding the claim of St Patrick's Cathedral, Dublin as the tallest church in Ireland. The reason is that there are other churches, as cited on the List of tallest structures in Ireland, which are taller. — Milesli (talk) 05:34, 7 November 2020 (UTC)
- Hi Milesli, that is understandable, but you needed to explain that, and provide a counter-citation. It is indeed the case that the cathedral is not, and has not been for a long time, the tallest, but somehow the wrong point is "well-known" and widely cited. This is sometimes the frustration of working on a tertiary source - we have to find sources even to fix things we know are incorrect. I will leave the reversion, but it really should be explained. It would need a couple of standard sections, which could be short, but there should be something on ordinary academic aspects and facilities (these could be in a single section), and governance. And the parts relating to the school itself, and to the allied (but legally quite distinct) primary schools, should be more distinct. It is perfectly reasonable for the primaries to be here too, as they are not notable solo for articles, but as we get closer to GA (B being the highest this Project goes to), we need clarity. As one of Ireland's more famous schools, it would be great to see Synger go forward for GA, and I think it is do-able. SeoR (talk) 11:06, 29 September 2020 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) Fob.schools: Further to SeoR's comments, even as it stands, the lede is too short and should be expanded. For GA and greater it would need to be 3-4 paragraphs as précis of the whole article and imho right now, if you want to up it to a B-class you should make the lede at least 2 paras. Good luck but I can't help you myself. ww2censor (talk) 15:09, 29 September 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks Ww2censor, and yes, I second that - even for B, the lede could be a bit more robust. Hi Fob.schools, I see you are already working further - great! The school's YSE achievements are outstanding. And a little more on sport will be great. Good GAA, while cycling, despite a head of world cycling as a teacher and an Irish cycling guy as a pp, not so much, but there were other sports too. SeoR (talk) 17:42, 29 September 2020 (UTC)
- I know the Pat McQuaid stuff is correct cos I was there when he was, but I can't find a WP:RS for it, so it may need to go before GA. There wasn't really much beyond GAA in my day, although the first soccer team was back tthen, and they were good. But getting WP:RSs for this sort of thing is difficult. I have a friend teaching there and have contacted him about getting access to more material to expand. Fob.schools (talk) 18:32, 29 September 2020 (UTC)
- Very interesting Fob.schools; it can stay for now, but as you say, by GA time... But I might find a source too, I seem to remember reading something somewhere - an interesting trajectory from part-time teacher to over 200k a year as head of world cycling. I'd heard about soccer but you're right, it's a problem for all Dublin school articles, so much activity, so little rising to the level of national RS. It's not always easy in other parts of Ireland either, but regional papers are sometimes amazingly detailed (80 pages of Kerryman, for example, gives you a lot on parish-level events and entities). I hope the friend can help indeed. SeoR (talk) 20:00, 29 September 2020 (UTC)

Ballet Ireland
Many thanks for the nice editing on my first article Ballet Ireland I wanted to add a logo to the infobox but as I am new to Wikipedia I felt it was a bridge too far as I don’t know how to upload to commons yet without violating copyright. How does one source a logo that complies with copyright for a registered company of this type? Sherdog.com RfC Closure Has Had No Effect on Wikipedia Because of a Small but Organized Gang of Editors
Hi. You had participated in the 30-day RfC of Sherdog.com's reliability at RSN here Wikipedia:Reliable_sources/Noticeboard/Archive_318#Sherdog.com and in the end it was closed to be used only for some basic fight information in the absence of reliable sources such as ESPN, on a case by case basis and with that fact that additional considerations apply on top of it (option 2 or 3).
But some editors (NEDOCHAN, Cassiopeia, Squared.Circle.Boxing, and a couple more) who voted for the reliability of Sherdog.com in the RfC, still enforce the usage of Sherdog.com as the most trusted source on MMA-related pages and go edit-wars for it. They are like a small organized gang of editors that have taken anyting MMA-related hostage on the Wikipedia and act like owners of the whole site. It would be nice if you could help with the enforcement of the result and consensus that were reached there since you helped reaching the consensus in the RfC. Thanks in advance.78.190.164.254 (talk) 16:01, 23 January 2021 (UTC)

DYK for Tailors' Hall
On 24 February 2021, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Tailors' Hall, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Tailors' Hall, a surviving guildhall of Dublin, hosted fencing and dancing classes, the United Irishmen and a British Army garrison, Dublin Corporation and an insolvency court? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Tailors' Hall. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Tailors' Hall), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (ie, 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. - Many thanks, 7&6=thirteen (I can't seem to ping, sorry), I really appreciate the thought. It was a big, and somewhat accidental project. I had edited the article occasionally, then one day realised there was more needed, and found I'd opened a can of maybe not worms but caviar. This little river had so much history and context. It was fun, and nice to be able to share it on DYK too. SeoR (talk) 17:23, 30 March 2021 (UTC)

- Many thanks Ipigott, I look forward to helping - I actually have contributed a bit, having been pointed this way by one fellow editor, who even passed me the start of a draft article, and energised by the work of the incredibly productive Antiqueight - and meant to register but must have been distracted. My RL is busy, but I do enjoy creating a well-formed article from time to time, and I also do a good deal of copyediting. I will have a look at the contest too. SeoR (talk) 08:25, 5 April 2021 (UTC)
- And as a memo in case we correspond again - but not pinging, as I see how busy you are, as one of the WiR leading players and in general editing - I have now read a good deal more in the project area, and can see some angles to pursue, and have reviewed the whole "Ireland" list, which has a mix of promising and nearly-no-source listings, reflecting underlying source biases. The good thing is that I have already thought of an obvious next article, and reached out for materials. SeoR (talk) 23:16, 5 April 2021 (UTC)
- Ipigott, sorry, but I'm going to take you up on the assistance, hopefully just a quick look, if you have time. I brought out a new article on a notable female journalist whose absence (they're Ireland's leading tech-and-culture journalist) was a surprise, but it got "bounced" to Draft (Draft:Karlin Lillington). It's never happened before, so I'm a little at sea - I am going to work on referencing, and try to bring it back to mainspace today, else I will also pull it from the WiR list. Any hints welcome, at any time.SeoR (talk) 08:22, 7 April 2021 (UTC)
- I am very surprised to see that such an experienced editor as DGG simply moved your Karlin Lillington to draft space on the grounds: "not ready for mainspace" without a word of detailed explanation. There's not even a message on the article's talk page or on this page to explain why. The article looks perfectly adequate to me for a mainspace article but I look forward to more details from DGG here as to why it was deemed "not ready". I'm sorry your first experience of Women in Red has been so disappointing.--Ipigott (talk) 08:56, 7 April 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks Ipigott - I do not know DGG, but I know they do incredible volumes of work on new article review, and time can press (with RL work and family, I know only too well). I am glad to have your feedback - I really did check myself too before bringing it forward (and, with respect, I am aware of vast numbers of more problemmatic articles) - and I believe that I will be able to restore it to mainspace today, but will await input for a bit, while working on referencing. SeoR (talk) 09:29, 7 April 2021 (UTC)
- And to be clear, I do not see this as a disappointment with regard to WiR. It was just a surprise. Mailing with another editor, I understood that I could in fact simply object, and the article would be automatically restored (subject to further review, AfD nomination, etc.), but I am happy to work on it, then move it back - no one has a veto, of course, but feedback is generally a good thing. I looked back, and I think I see a past discussion, on a person who could be considered under either NPROF or the GNG. To be clear, considering the current very high bar for NPROF (which I find disproportionate vs the bars for sportspeople and entertainers, for example), I considered Lillington under GNG, and primarily for her journalistic and public forum work, and not under NPROF. SeoR (talk) 13:42, 7 April 2021 (UTC)
- I apologize for I could have handled this better. I wasn't all that sure last night myself, but it read to me exactly like the sort of writeup a person would be likely to do when asked for their own bio for a conference, etc. I agree that the standard applicable is the GNG, not PROF. Journalists are unfortunately difficult to document, however, because almost everything one finds is likely to be their own writing, or a bio for which they are the obvious source. They're much easier when there's a major prize, but her only prize is from her own college, and normally that doesn't really count. What struck me is the description of so many of her journalistic writings in text--one expects a journalist to have a good many, and the ones to discuss in text are the ones that attracted comment. (I don't think I'm using an erratic standard of my own, because many articles on journalists end up deleted at afd although the person is clearly significant in their profession. I find this rather frustrating myself. In particular, WiR articles can attract deletion, and the way to avoid that is to make them as strong as possible. Ipigott, I'm think you've probably seen this also.
- However, I recognize you're a very experienced editor, so what's necessary to fix can be done it mainspace. I have re-reviewed and I am accepting it; make the edits you mentioned, and then I will have another look at it myself tonight and see if I do some more myself. One thing that is especially needed is exact years for her degrees and positions, and a little less personal and family. The text in the infobox, including the caption, could probably be shortened. DGG ( talk ) 15:00, 7 April 2021 (UTC)
- Many thanks DGG, that's a very clear outline, and all feels better. I take "exactly like the sort of writeup a person would be likely to do when asked for their own bio" as a backhanded compliment, and I think, as you touch on, that this is down to the inherent nature of the public "imprint" of journalistic work - they craft their own image, though I was aiming to be objective (and this particular subject is generally seen as a strong reporter and educator, and has not attracted much negative comment). While I've read their work in Irish and British papers for what feels like decades, I have never dealt with them, or even seen them close up, but I could wish I had, as some aspects of their history were frustratingly hard to trace - for example their path through the Univ. of California (was it a start in Science at Davis, then a shift to Arts at Santa Barbara? - and a BA or an AB?) - beyond the fact of being at those places, the only sources are the sort of "grey aggregator" we can't use (data perhaps scraped from old LinkedIn records or some such). However, I have made clearer their advanced degree history, as their Masters dissertation and PhD thesis (both at the famous Trinity College Dublin) are filed and catalogued. A small note - the Business Journalist prize was from another Dublin university (there are four), University College Dublin, rather than Trinity College.
- I note the point re. WiR articles, and that's a pity, as we still haven't reached even 20%, and even allowing for historical realities, that's clearly not right. But as per several well-documented cases, this is partly a fact of life we have to work to overcome. Thanks to Ipigott for the support as I formally join that effort.
- Thank you for restoring the article, and I look forward to working further on it in mainspace. I will do what I can on precision - the start at her main venue, The Irish Times, for example, is not declared with a "Lillington joined this month" anywhere, but her broad footprint in their archive (author of or referenced in >2,400 entries) starts in 1996, and I did this morning add a cited mention of the first-seen article. I think I kept the personal life brief (little is known about this aspect anyway) but I will look to trim family mention in the early life section a little. And got it re. infobox - I already cut the caption, and will review further. And I would agree that the next stage in development would be to develop notes on some key articles. Anything you could do - I see your history, and background in academia and librarianship - would be most kind. SeoR (talk) 16:19, 7 April 2021 (UTC)

Hi
I see you removed my blank lines I put those there because the page looks more organized on separate lines also my OCD is triggering me from the way it looks without the space looks kinda messy please understand SpiritualDubrovnikk (talk) 00:39, 12 May 2021 (UTC)
- Hi SpiritualDubrovnikk - first, sorry for the delay in reply, busy week. I understand your point, and sorry for any OCD triggering. The problem is that the appearance will be different depending on device, font, etc. - and blank lines are a crude mechanism, and can result (as they do on the two of screen I use) in a messy look. Other format mechanisms, such as some form of list, are available. I will not intervene further in this case, and wish you the best. SeoR (talk) 16:52, 14 May 2021 (UTC)

Thanks for your email
Hello, and thanks for your email. I have looked at the links you provided and I don't think they need to be revdel'ed. I don't think they rise to the level of BLP violations, unlike the article you saw where I did hide some edits because they made actual, serious accusations against a person.
But revdel'ed or not, the added material should definitely be kept out of the articles. Quite aside from the accusations of wrongdoing, the material is not encyclopedic at all - written in an informal, almost conversational style, with lots of over-the-top language, and expressing opinions which we never do in articles. ("We can say with something approaching certainty..." "The sequence of events leading up to this is fascinating in a horrible kind of way...") Their style is very recognizable, so it should be easy to identify new socks and get them blocked as soon as they appear. If you spot a new one, you might want to call it to the attention of the admin who blocked those two; it is often quicker and easier, for you and the admin, if they are already familiar with the case. -- MelanieN (talk) 00:31, 29 May 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks MelanieN, and for the speed. I was hoping so, as this revdel seems an extreme solution, but given the accusatory tone, I thought I'd better check. And yes, the style is recognisable, and the content has been repeating, although with the reach to new articles, it may get harder to whack the mole, but more editors are now on alert too. As it is a sock case, we drop new finds to the SPI page, but I will keep the point re. admin. experience in mind. SeoR (talk) 00:44, 29 May 2021 (UTC)

- Wikimedia previously used the IRC network Freenode. However, due to changes over who controlled the network with reports of a forceful takeover by several ex-staff members, the Wikimedia IRC Group Contacts decided to move to the new Libera Chat network. It has been reported that Wikimedia related channels on Freenode have been forcibly taken over if they pointed members to Libera. There is a migration guide and Wikimedia discussions about this.

- Consensus has been reached to delete all books in the book namespace. There was rough consensus that the deleted books should still be available on request at WP:REFUND even after the namespace is removed.
- An RfC is open to discuss the next steps following a trial which automatically applied pending changes to TFAs.
- IP addresses of unregistered users are to be hidden from everyone. There is a rough draft of how IP addresses may be shown to users who need to see them. This currently details allowing administrators, checkusers, stewards and those with a new usergroup to view the full IP address of unregistered users. Editors with at least 500 edits and an account over a year old will be able to see all but the end of the IP address in the proposal. The ability to see the IP addresses hidden behind the mask would be dependent on agreeing to not share the parts of the IP address they can see with those who do not have access to the same information. Accessing part of or the full IP address of a masked editor would also be logged. Comments on the draft are being welcomed at the talk page.
- The community authorised COVID-19 general sanctions have been superseded by the COVID-19 discretionary sanctions following a motion at a case request. Alerts given and sanctions placed under the community authorised general sanctions are now considered alerts for and sanctions under the new discretionary sanctions.

Thanks for the Warm Welcome
Hi SeoR, thank you so much for the warm welcome this morning/afternoon. Indeed I am new here and am enjoying this environment although, I do find it a bit difficult to get my head around!
I do indeed have a conflict of interest with Fionn Ferreira and understand your points, thank you for highlighting them to me. I would like to bring to your attention that the page was not created by me however it was observed that numerous edits/additions to the page over the past months have been inaccurate or missing. I understand why it is not acceptable for me to make those edits, thank you for clarifying this. In the future edits will be suggested and not done by me.
Being an (almost) chemist, I love Wikipedia with my whole heart and can't wait to get into improving this great resource more in the coming months. Again, thanks for your help, support and being my first Wikipedian Friend! Fmiguel2411 (talk) 18:21, 15 August 2021 (UTC)
- Hello Fmiguel2411, and I'm honoured to be a first friend in here. If there is anything I can advise on, please just ask. I have limited editing time, but am logged in for chunks of most days, with the odd break due to family or day job needs. It will take you a little while to become fully oriented, but I am excited to hear that you'd like to stay around - we really need more hands, especially those with a chance to commit, and even better with some understanding of the academic approach. Thanks for understanding about the conflict of interest precautions - they protect both the encyclopedia and the subjects. Suggested edits are always welcome, either via the topic Talk page or an editor Talk page, or, especially if a little sensitive, via the "e-mail this user" option available in the left-hand-side toolbar. We take accuracy of biographies, especially those of living people, very seriously, and any corrections will be acted on swiftly - if we can't find citations one way or another, material can simply be removed until citable. When it comes to family member names and subject dates of birth, we aim both to protect privacy, especially of non-subjects, and avoid sharing of data which might be used to stage identity fraud (which is also why we are not so worried if data points are already readily available). What a subject can do, if they wish to make a point clear and available to use, is ensure to include it, at an appropriate level of detail, in a future interview, document / presentation / video front matter, etc. In terms of articles needing attention, there are so many areas - from local matters to subject areas worked on - for example, in reviewing the Fionn Ferreira article and checking its references, I realised that there was a lacuna around Arden Warner - if our bar for articles on academics is pretty high (WP:PROF), due to the sheer numbers our there, that for inventors of potentially game-changing technologies is less so. Best of luck with those chemistry studies, SeoR (talk) 23:10, 15 August 2021 (UTC)

Thank for good DYK reviewing in August! I liked yesterday's Main page, with 4 bolded names I brought there, all in memory: the TFA, nominated for a missed user, the pictured DYK (Alfred Biolek), and two under Recent deaths, Siegfried Matthus and Teresa Żylis-Gara. August harvest. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:26, 31 August 2021 (UTC)
- Thank you Gerda Arendt for the kind words - and the inspiration your work provides in the DYK area (and all the great article work which it represents). I had a couple of months of limited Wikipedia work, with day job and holidays, but it was very nice to come back to it, inlcuding DYK. Well done on the August harvest! Recent check
Just to let you know I only add stuff to Wikipedia that is backed up by reliable and verifiable sources and have done so since nearly from the start of my time here over 15 years ago after getting a real tough time by a specific [now long time inactive POV warrior] editor. I understand the need to check just in case and appreciate it. My recent edit came about after just checking my own past contibs and noticing that some anomalies remained in that article even after the talk page discussion where I posted the evidence I indirectly quoted. By all means continue the good work. Mabuska (talk) 23:28, 1 September 2021 (UTC)
- Hi Mabuska, absolutely, I have noticed you on and off over the years, though we edit mostly in slightly different areas, and have always found your work rigorous, even challenging at times - it is very good. In that specific BLP case, I just thought a follow-up bit of editing helped improve even further, and as part of that I backed up the point about name forms, as we were dealing with a point which some people find a little sensitive, the use of Irish language forms which may be a little artificial or post-facto applied. Interesting debate elsewhere on Connaught too, and you tested that one fully (I do think the current usage situation is clear, but I also remember the older more-widely-used-EN-form well, and it is good that we dig into these matters thoroughly). Best of luck, SeoR (talk) 12:44, 3 September 2021 (UTC)
- Thank you. Challenging? As in writing style or some of the information I have added? For I know I have added stuff - well sourced and backed up - that many Irish people would find challenging. My belief is if you well source it and present it as neutral as possible then your detractors can't validly argue against it. I wasn't too fussed on what Connacht ended up at as both are common, though the IMOS agreement on Connacht settles the matter fully but clearly the other editors didn't think of consulting IMOS to see what it said. Coincidentally in the history book I am writing I use the spelling Connacht. But yes, all avenues need tested and holes in arguments poked at to cover all bases - some editors seem to take that offensively. I will add that my responses can be a bit brick through a window at times lacking more suitable levels of curt and tact. So if I come across that way, its not meant in an aggressive or offensive way. Mabuska (talk) 13:29, 3 September 2021 (UTC)
