Copyright problem
Hi, Sam Sailor! Thanks for all you do at AfC. But please, please, could you check for copyright violations before moving a page into mainspace? Horses of Florence is now listed at WP:CP because much of it is copied from here.
I note that the page has no citations whatsoever. How on Earth did you establish the notability of the topic? It's also at a quite inappropriate title – those iron hitching-hooks are all over the place, throughout Tuscany and possibly further afield too; they certainly aren't a Florentine thing. Here's a nice one on the Castello di Montalto, in Sienese territory. I suggest "Ferri" as a title (after moving the disambiguation page to Ferri (disambiguation), but Ferri (architecture) would do too. However, the copyvio is the main problem. Regards, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 20:56, 28 August 2015 (UTC)
- Oh dear! I'm quite embarrassed! Yes, I should have checked for copy-vio, and I did not. Please accept my apologies. And thank you for your vigilance, Justlettersandnumbers, when I was sleeping on duty. -- Sam Sailor Talk! 21:42, 28 August 2015 (UTC)

Yoo Byung-eun aka Ahae
Most of the content on Mr. Yoo's wiki page precede the corrections made by the media (links at bottom). For the media to be forced by the Press Arbitrary Commission to make corrections is a telling tale that the majority of news reports tying Mr. Yoo to the Sewol ferry were orchestrated by those looking for a scapegoat.
The Evangelical Baptist Church (EBC) collected approximately 16,000 news articles related to the church published after the ferry incident from April 16 through September 15. These 16,000 articles were subject to conciliation/arbitration and were filed to the Press Arbitration Committee (PAC). Thirty-seven hundred of them were about the church (EBC), while the rest, 12,300, were false reports about Mr. Yoo Byung-eun (aka the photographer Ahae).
These 16,000 articles contained false statements and met the criteria for conciliation/arbitration. For each of these articles, the application form was filled out and submitted to the PAC. The EBC and the press organizations proceeded to reach an agreement through rounds of hearings at the PAC and had the following results: publication of collective correction reports and the church’s official statement, revision or deletion of false reports, etc.
Compared to the data from 2013, the number of applications for conciliation filed in the year of 2014 increased dramatically—nearly by eight times, and 16,117 (87.5%) of these cases were regarding the false reports on the EBC. The numbers of cases that were not related to the EBC range from 2,000 to 3,000 (e.g. 2,433 in the year of 2013 and 2,931 in 2014), indicating that the media has published a tremendous number of indiscriminate, false news reports regarding the EBC since the Sewol ferry tragedy.
The applications for conciliation/arbitration were filed against all types of media outlets in Korea, including the three major TV business operators (KBS, MBC, SBS), cable channels (e.g. TV Chosun, ChannelA), news broadcasters (e.g. Yonhap News, News1), the three major newspaper companies (Chosun Ilbo, Donga Ilbo, Joongang Ilbo), nationwide and local daily newspaper companies (e.g. Maeil Shinmun, Busan Ilbo, Kookje Shinmun), Internet news pages (e.g. Shinmunsa.com), and Internet news service providers (e.g. Bangsongsa.com).
From August 2014, arbitration requests began to be filed to the Press Arbitration Commission. Soon, the Press Arbitration Commission held trials, and the media began to publish correction and objection reports regarding the EBC.
In August 2014, while there were only one or two correction and objection reports per article; after a complete inspection the PAC accepted the 16,000 articles as cases. After processing them, each media company began to publish combined correction and objection reports.
Below are links to three English news outlets based in Korea and more are being requested from other English news outlets in Korea. The next task is to approach international media who recirculated the lies propagated by the Korean media ex. NY Times, BBC, etc.

- @12.196.0.61: Thank you for the message. I have not edited Yoo Byung-eun in well over a year. I can see that the statement of The Evangelical Baptist Church (in slightly different versions) has been added to a great many articles on the news sites. This would be easier to dig into for someone speaking Korean, alas I'm not one such, and would require secondary, reliable sources. Depending on the statement from EBC as anything else but opinion rather than fact, would be a mistake. One of several examples is #9: it has been very well established that Ahae only was able to exhibit because he and his companies paid all expenses and gave generous sponsorships. -- Sam Sailor Talk! 18:05, 21 August 2015 (UTC)
Thank you for your reply. The statement by EBC was mandated by the Press Arbitrary Committee for almost 300 Korean based media outlets to make corrections to their articles. This was after an arbitration. If these are not third party, reliable sources then what is? The media outlets themselves were forced to correct their articles. Has it been well established that Ahae was only able to exhibit because of his donations? There was no statement made by the institutions to this effect. Has anyone contacted these institutions? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.88.88.57 (talk) 18:52, 28 August 2015 (UTC)
- You are wrong when you say: "There was no statement made by the institutions to this effect." Au contraire mon ami, please read the article and the sources quoted. -- Sam Sailor Talk! 19:41, 28 August 2015 (UTC)
You can go to Versailles own website at http://en.chateauversailles.fr/news-/events/exhibitions/the-extraordinary-within-the-ordinary and read the director's statement how the artist was invited to exhibit. Wouldn't this be a better indicator of the facts then a French blogger posing as an authority on French art and museums? Sponsorships for this exhibition are no different in form and content than any of the other sponsored exhibits at major museums. http://en.chateauversailles.fr/index.php?option=com_cdvfiche&view=cdvchapitre&template=blank&idr=B0DA74F8-8703-53D2-8697-337A665D275E&idc=0E3ECE24-E256-9CDC-71C7-B137D27EFCB7
The key point is that all of these references that are notated undoubtedly were gleaned from the Korean news articles that have now been corrected. For the Louvre the screening committee agreed by consensus to host the artist's works. Once again you need to look at the overall context of the situation. People added content to this Wiki page using material that the media now admits was incorrect. There is no other reason they would add the media corrections to their original articles. This should be taken into account in editing this Wiki entry. People cannot just refer to indiscriminate content and ignore the same media outlets when they post their corrections. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 63.92.229.233 (talk) 21:14, 29 August 2015 (UTC)
Pirum
Hi Sam, not sure if I'm doing this right, first time editing a talk page. Thankyou for your comments, I was still working on my post and ran out of time - probably should have used the sandbox environment perhaps (I need to read up on how to use that too). I've made some more updates and added a bunch of references. How do I go about uploading the company logo into the info box - when I try uploading the logo there are lots of copyright questions. A company logo is in the public domain, but if you need an email from the CEO or something I can get that. Please let me know what the right option is to upload a company logo. Thanks! Jdtootell (talk) 22:37, 29 August 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Jdtootell, you're doing fine, no worries. Company logo first: We have Wikipedia:Wikimedia Commons for free images, but the question is if the company logo is free? Normally they are not, AFAIK. It could be made free under the right Creative Commons license with a permission from the copyright holder, but an easier path to take is to upload it here under a Fair use clause. Yes, I remember how it was uploading for the first time, all those boxes to tick and form fields to fill. Take a deep breath, have a go at it again, and get back to if you need help. Yes, your sandbox is a good place for drafting, check it out. As for the article, I think it is moving in the right direction. Could you write a lead that sums up the article? You yourself presumably knows the subject specific terms, but would the average Joe? I'm truly your average Joe when it comes to the subject matter here and a sentence like "with the objective of utilising Internet technologies to benefit these market participants through providing a secure reconciliation service for both open securities lending trades and for their monthly billing." I virtually have no clue about what you mean. Granted, Wikipedia can't cater to an ignorance at my level ;-) and I'm not suggesting the article should be devoid of the business specific terms that makes it precise, but could we Wiki link to some topics? E.g. CCP is the acronym for central (clearing) counterparty,[1] so could it be linked to Central Counterparty Clearing? If so, that would be done like this in the edit view: [[Central Counterparty Clearing|CCP]]. Target first, link text next. I googled RQV and assume it is Running Quality Value. Hmm, we don't have an article on that, I think. Cash prepay reconciliations also not. Maybe there's a lot small financial articles you should start? ;) Does Mark to market functionality have anything to do with Mark-to-market accounting? But again, if the language you use is precise for the topic, don't drag it down, it could be Wikipedia that lacks articles to link to on some of these terms. -- Sam Sailor Talk! 00:47, 30 August 2015 (UTC)
Thanks Sam, please can you recheck and see if I have addressed your concerns? I've added a page on RQV (albeit there isn't much written on the subject at the moment for me to reference), and added lots of links to other Wiki pages. Logo is up, and text is nice and neutral. Jdtootell (talk) 15:47, 1 September 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks, Jd, I copy-edited both and added a a few references to Pirum. -- Sam Sailor Talk! 17:33, 1 September 2015 (UTC)
A few questions on a newly created wiki page I made
Hey Sam, first and foremost I'd look to say thank you for the warm welcome to the site and I really do appreciate all you do for the users on here. I saw your post on my talk page about the Kevin Abstract article I made. You commented on saying how I should lower the tone to something a bit more neutral, as well as add in additional citations. I followed your advice on both of those and now have almost 30 references and what is what I feel like is a neutrally toned article. I just wanted to check back in with you so you could tell me if it seemed improved or not at all now because I wanna be able to make the best pages I possibly can. Also, another misc. question - How do you get wiki pages to show up on the front page of a google search? Does it just come naturally or is it something that an admin needs to verify? Whenever you search up "Kevin Abstract", his Wiki doesn't even pop up until like the 4th page. Just curious because I spent a lot of time on it and would like for other people to be able to see it as well. Sorry for so many questions haha, I'm kinda new to this whole thing. Thanks for the help so far though!
ChintzyTurtle (talk) 10:13, 2 September 2015 (UTC)ChintzyTurtle
- Hi ChintzyTurtle, thanks for your questions, I'll try to answer them to the best of my abilities. Regarding "Kevin Abstract" on Google I get the Wikipedia article on page four as well. AFAIK no admin action would have any influence on its ranking. My own experience is that Wikipedia articles are on the first page of a Google search most of the time. My best guess is that the article is new and that you need to give old G a couple of days to index it. But since you mention the importance of getting the article high up on Google: Wikipedia has become such an important website, and is therefor frequently used for promotional purposes of subjects that are not notable. That's why there's a zero tolerance when it comes to promo. And writing here can take some time to learn, because we use what you might call a "slightly boring" style of writing. Neutral or detached would be better adjectives. So when you start here, you're maybe very enthusiastic in your writing style, and the two examples I gave you were very enthusiastic. But don't worry too much about it, if you try your best, there'll be people to help you out. A lot of leeway is given here, when we try to do our best. I've made a single edit to the article, hoping it will give you some idea of how to revise it. One thing we do here is to call a person by their last name after the first mention, i.e. Abstract not Kevin. Puts a little distance to subject. Read more in MOS:BLP. Remember, although you started the article, anybody can edit it. And they will. Best, -- Sam Sailor Talk! 11:14, 2 September 2015 (UTC)

Loonie
Good point, although it looks as if the older articles were about a different rapper - the first two articles predate the current subject's "rap debut in late 2013", and the speedydeletion wikia shows that at least the original version of the article was about somebody else entirely. --McGeddon (talk) 10:35, 8 September 2015 (UTC)

But even if a blurb like "This service is perfect for both selling watches and trading in watches for new models." could be attributed, it'll never survive. About rejected article message on TienShenLong wall
Hi there Sam and nice to meet you.
FIrst of all my apologies. I´ve was on a experimental test yesterday that included a "article submit" phase among others during that test, a "simulated" one. I´ve suppose that didn't work as expected... too. I even was able to conclude the test as at the end I´ve get 2 wbrowser windos open for each mouse click despite where I´ve click over. Manual reboot has to be the solution. I think the entire test was intened to be out-of-the grid. As only a volunteer there but for been involved, a sincere: SORY. Was not my intent. Best regards, TienShenLongt@lk
- @TienShenLong: Hi Tien Shen, thanks for your message. That's a cool signature you've made there. You need absolutely not apologize! You are almost too polite. You just made a test in your sandbox, and I happened to be around at articles for creation and was the one to tag it. No harm done. And the message in the yellow box on your talk page is not a "badge of shame." I will post you a welcome message instead. It you need help with anything, just let me know. -- Sam Sailor Talk! 06:18, 14 September 2015 (UTC)
- Sam Sailor Glad to meet you. I have to say that LONG ago I´ve created this account "for testing purposes only" and after a massive huge hack attack, my previous account here and most of the others I had everywhere has to be closed at once and forever, so cannot even said goodbye. WHat has done is done. Just will say: Old Dragon, New Skin; back with a revenge after several years on the so-called "real" world, where electricity is unknow and I had to deal with. After that just say : THANKS for such warm welcome (most appreciated) and hope count with you if able, as support-guide as I thing I need a fine-tunning on some areas; to hit me to get rid where I'm rusty and to be upgraded or overhauled before do something around 'as I can do'.
- Yestarday, on a glimpse, I´v see there is a full implemented pages describing a large list of wikispecies now.. and I wonder if any of some old friends could be, among the wikidracos wikidracos so I´ll go and drop there, say HI and grab my badge back. Then probably I can delight them with one stories I have to share. Dragons appreciate that... when other lesser ones like that "verbose-labelling-addicts" just count figures despite the beauty.
- About the signature: I wonder if there is something available this days to shorten that 3/4-lined-old-code, or to fold to work without collapsing everywhere through other wikis I have to visit.
- Finally, YES: "almost too polite" indeed, but that IS according with the path I´ve took and with my taste... any considering one of my goals to make that well manners to become viral someone could have another point of view, I'll appreciate anything while follows the same template, all the others that could prefer another "mood setting" or change that setting just need to visit the wikipedia's species, wikidrakos' section to check how-to do that. Thanks again Sam. We shall post again. TienShenLongt@lk

Message regarding Draft:PublicSchedule
Hi Sam!
I wonder how we can go about siting sources for PublicShedule (the article that John Brander wrote and you rejected due to lack of backing sources). As he writes, the XML-format is used by several broadcasters and TV-operators in the Nordics but this is the first (or second) time the format has been made public. The first time it was one of the co-writers, Purre Persson, who put up a wiki-page a few years ago but it was taken down (when he switched jobs I think). He still has a GitHub repository with the original specifications for the XML-format, you can find it here: https://github.com/purre would that count as a source? If not, please help us with tips on how to get backing sources for the article.

List of longest sailing sloop
Hi Sam and thanks for the fast replay. As you can see and imagine I'm quite new in doing Wiki pages so any help and tip are welcome. My idea about the page was to create a more specific document with an eye on technical details (not present on other pages). On all the web I didn't find any specific list about sloop that allow you to easily identify dimensions and tech details. I see a similar approach comparing List of large sailing vessels, List of schooners and List of clipper ships. In future my idea is to expand the list up to 40 meters sloop and insert images for every vessels. Thanks! Declined Submission of privacyIDEA
Hi Sam,
thank you for reviewing my article draft (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Draft:PrivacyIDEA&redirect=no)
Can you please help me to understand, how to improve the article, to get it published?
I took a look at similar articles in this IT-Network/Security area like FreeRADIUS or LinOTP. Both look rather "about" to me. Well, FreeRADIUS has an interesting section "History". Both also have no reference to any news or book. (Even FreeRADIUS - although there should be tons of ;-)
I have two reference - admitted to German news articles. But I decided to publish the privacyIDEA page in the english Wikipedia, since the German Wikipedia has not much about network/authentication/two factors.
Should I add a little "history" behind the scenes? Should I add an introduction to help our fathers generation understand, what this is about?
Thanks a lot Cornelius

You are right about FreeRADIUS and LinOTP, they are both inadequately sourced. The latter has been tagged with ref improve for two years (it was created by you yourself btw), and I just tagged the former since all refs are primary. But keep in mind that Wikipedia:Other stuff exists is not a valid argument for creating more sub-par stuff. An example: Have a look at Draft:PublicSchedule created by the developer himself and see the post above from a guy from the company. Would you be able to source that? -- Sam Sailor Talk! 10:09, 16 September 2015 (UTC)
Thomas Klikauer - Draft
Hi Sam,
thank you for taking the time to review my very first contribution to wiki, an entry about the lecturer Thomas Klikauer, at the Australian Uni of Western Sydney. I can only agree to your critique; admittedly I had a bit of a struggle with the [A] footnoting bit. The [B] picture was sent to me by TK and he holds the copyright. For both these items, [A] and [B] I would appreciate some help: any chance you could advise me? kind regards "Sydburger" Ralf Itzwerth Sydburger (talk) 13:01, 16 September 2015 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sydburger (talk • contribs) 12:57, 16 September 2015 (UTC)

Hi, I've just added several references to my entry on Karl Drerup. I hope this will suffice. This is the first time I've created an entry for Wikipedia and I'm finding it rather slow going. Please let me know if you have any further advice. Yves Amu Klein Page
Hello Sam,
I added the citations, and reformatted Klein's page according to your suggestions and Wikipedia's directions. I hope you will find the changes satisfactory. By the way, when I started this project, all I was trying to do is to translate the already existing Yves Amu Klein page from the French Wikipedia into English. In the process, I made a few improvements to the French page (photos, hyperlinks, etc.).
Thanks for your help.

Hello Editors!?
I don't know what's wrong with all you seniors wikipedians neither you edit on mistakes nor you show us the better steps to taken to get approve article or draft? Once i created a page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DNS_Made_Easy was nominated for deletion, then i created a draft https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:DNS_Made_Easy was declined and left the message page with this name already existing and a wikipedians left me a message what makes me need to create another draft when i already have a page? Where should i look now? at draft or page?
What are the best steps i should take to improve existing page? Can you help me for this please?

- Thank you for your message. Yes, naturally I will help you!
- First of all I think you write well, it's as if you know Leonaldo Kelly, alias A1kellz, and I enjoyed reading your draft.
- You know how it is going to an audition, right? You dress up sharp, you look your best, you need to sing in tune, stick to the beat. One of life's small tests.
- On Wikipedia there is another test. It's called "notability". The details are here, but I'll give you the lowdown: somebody else needs to have written about the person. Like a newspaper or a magazine. When I go searching for "A1kellz" or "Leonaldo Kelly" I find his Twitter account, his Youtube account and stuff like that. But no newspaper articles. Yet! Coz why should they not come in the future? It just takes some love and dedication for what we do. So, tell "Kellz" to keep on doing what he does, and do it with passion! And when one day he makes it big and the journalists are crawling all over him begging for an interview, then somebody will write an article on Wikipedia about him. And tell him I send him "Good Luck". Very best, -- Sam Sailor Talk! 21:16, 19 September 2015 (UTC)

- @Abubakar Mikail Olawale: You created Draft:Abubakar Mikail Olawale and submitted it, and when that was reviewed but not accepted you created Biography of Abubakar Mikail Olawale which got speedy deleted. As I dream of horses said on your talk page, creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged. Please also note that we have rules concerning user pages, and you have more or less copied your autobio to yours making it look like a WP:FAKEARTICLE. Could I ask you to trim it down yourself per WP:UPYES, please. If you allow me: you are a young man, 19 years-old, you have a talent, and that talent you should nurture! You do not do yourself or your career a favor by trying to write about yourself on Wikipedia. Wikipedia is WP:NOTSOCIALNETWORK and it is WP:NOTLINKEDIN. Hello Sam Sailor,
Thanks for your suggestions and yes these "behind the scenes" people are difficult to source especially when their peak was in the 1990's. I did re-submit with more valid links of what I could find. Most are from the Glenn Hughes Official website. Some new links do have photo's of Michael Scott (aka Mike Scott) at work as well. I also found some video of Michael performing on the CBS Roseanne (Barr) TV Show. He is the guy playing guitar to the right of Gaylor (singer). see following links:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DiC_u9_AJv4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MlDuU0LScFM
I also found hime performing, playing guitar on the Glenn Hughes video of song "Days of Avalon" which he produced and engineered:JKPOPPY (talk) 22:47, 19 September 2015 (UTC)

I'm not sure how to include videos in my draft. Hopefully this should should be more clear evidence of why the subject is notable and worthy of inclusion.
Thank you for time.
Kindest Regards, JK
- Hello JK, and thanks for posting.
- Yes, you are right, there are lots of things and people that got press coverage pre-internet that might have made them worthy for an entry in a print encyclopedia in the past, and today they can be impossible to source properly online. Sources do not have to be available online though. The Youtube vids do not help here. There's the copyright issues and then there is the fact that he's, well, "just" playing second guitar. Again, some of these people live wonderful lives being musicians with fully booked calendars, or being producers doing record after record, and we just don't hear about them because they are not in the limelight. -- Sam Sailor Talk! 23:12, 19 September 2015 (UTC)
Hi Sam Sailor,
Thanks again for taking the time to reply. Yes in the Roseanne video he is just playing second guitar but he is also part of "Fuzzatonic Scream". He along with Bobby Gaylor and Marc Bonilla signed a recording contract with Atlantic Records and Dreamworks publishing and composed most of the songs on the album. That being said, and I am sincerely asking for your help here in trying to make this happen, I truly think that he is worthy of a page. Does not that fact that he has been credited on albums that have gone multi-platinum, worked artists on major labels, had a record deal with Atlantic records and publishing deal with Dreamworks publishing mean anything? For these guys a credit on a record is all they sometimes get. But not many get the credits he has achieved. Along with some exposure in videos and TV. You did see the REP Magazine link for FOCUS AWARD BEST DRUM SOUND? Maybe that sounds goofy, Spinal Tappy, but to engineers that is a huge award. — Preceding unsigned comment added by JKPOPPY (talk • contribs) 01:19, 22 September 2015 (UTC) JKPOPPY (talk) 01:23, 22 September 2015 (UTC)
- Have a look at it now, JKPOPPY. I'd be happy to see you add better sources and add sources to the parts that are now unsourced, e.g. do you have a source on his birth date and early career? -- Sam Sailor Talk! 15:38, 22 September 2015 (UTC)
Dr. Wilson A Head article
Hi. I couldn't find where to add a comment on the previous page. I hope this is the right place. The article that you reviewed just now was a much earlier draft and not my latest. I re-submitted the latest version just now, which contains tons of good references (citations) from newspapers and so on. It is dated Sept. 21. Please review THAT one and not the older versions.
Katsheron (talk) 09:12, 21 September 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Katsheron. It's perfectly fine to post here. I have moved the draft to Draft:Wilson A. Head. Please see WP:MOS and MOS:LAYOUT on how to layout and structure an article. MOS will also go into the use of bold and italics. Also take a look at WP:CIT on how to format citations. -- Sam Sailor Talk! 09:19, 21 September 2015 (UTC)
Hi, again. I have read the pages you suggest and made changes to headings. I tried putting Cite error: A
to my list of references now. I hope that is what is required here for "inline citations". Questions: (1) If you are having trouble finding the newspaper articles I am referring to in my references, I would be happy to email them to you; (2) I had to take out, in the most recent draft, a number of the awards that Dr. Head won simply because there are no articles to be found where they are mentioned. I guess just saying that they are all on display for anyone to see at York University is not good enough? However, I have clear photographs which I could also email you that show his name, dates, etc., of each of these awards. Perhaps a hyperlink could be added by you as a kind of footnote proof showing the photographs as proof that they exist and that he won them? (3) can you please load a photograph of Dr. Head from this link? This is the one that the family have asked me to put up: http://www.learnquebec.ca/en/content/curriculum/social_sciences/features/missingpages/unit8/u8p170.htm — Preceding unsigned comment added by Katsheron (talk • contribs) 15:02, 22 September 2015 (UTC) Katsheron (talk) 15:07, 22 September 2015 (UTC)

- To editor Rortosthanos: I am going to answer here to avoid fragmentation.
- Content first: In Bethany High you added "The principal is Mr.Robert Khin and the director is Mr.Akash Ryall." in this diff. It was unsourced. Fortuna Imperatrix Mundi reverted you because the addition was unsourced, and thus unverifiable. This they did because the burden to demonstrate verifiability lies with the editor who adds or restores material. That you then followed up and undid their revert is a misunderstanding on your part. But it's not a problem, there are so many things to learn here. What you should have done was to find a reliable source that supported your addition, and then add it with the source. Do you understand?
- Behavior: Personally I seldom use words like "bloody". Forgive and forget. But I do notice that you still do not sign your talk page posts. I will leave you a message in this regard.

11.Has been placed in rotation nationally by a major radio or music television network: His song Rise and Shine played every morning on WNIC radio station for 15 years - in Detroit
12.Has been a featured subject of a substantial broadcast segment across a national radio or TV network: WNIC Radio Station in Detroit - Jim Harper Radio personality

Hi Sam-- You left me a note warning me about deleting things on talk pages (NeilN's, I believe). I assume you have some good reason for doing this; however, aside from revisions to my own language...maybe, so very minor edits, I frankly have no idea what you're talking about. I agree any significant deletion would likely be vandalism and would not knowingly do that. Do you have a reference for what specific material was removed? Is it possible you're mistaken in some way? Request on 22:49:58, 30 September 2015 for assistance on AfC submission by The original destroyers
I understand that I made a poor choice of username but please read the draft without prejudging. I chose the name because it was an easy reference to the subject matter and nothing else.
As for notability, i can point to hundreds of bands with less "notability" than the Destroyers. Is there a magic number of books that reference the band or is that just a personal thing. How about websites, facebook pages? How many records does a band or its members have to be credited with to satisfy the reviewer? Notability is such a subjective criteria that it cries out for some standardization.
How many people submitting this page will satisfy the criteria of non "external" submissions.
Any indication you give me of what is required would be gratefully received. Thanks The original destroyers (talk) 22:49, 30 September 2015 (UTC)

Advice regarding my post you edited
Hey Sam! Thanks a lot for looking at my draft article. It is (was originally) titled Robert (Bob) Nicholls. I noticed you changed the title to Robert Nicholls. I don't mind this at all but I just wanted to ask- there is already a page on Wikipedia called Robert Nicholls, who is a completely different person. Does this matter? It is the reason I titled mine Robert (Bob) Nicholls- to distinguish the two. My other question is on my watch page there seems to be a duplicate of my article. Again, does this matter?! Thanks a lot for your help, I really appreciate it. Best wishes, Emma — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cladoselache (talk • contribs) 10:55, 1 October 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Emma, and thanks for your message. Your questions are perfectly valid. When we have two subjects with the same name/term, we disambiguate. In this case we would most likely move (=rename) Robert Nicholls to Robert Nicholls (politician), move Draft:Robert Nicholls to main space as Robert Nicholls (illustrator) and then let Robert Nicholls list these two subjects. Quite befitting have a look at Robert Nichols. When you talk about a duplicate on your watchlist I presume you are seeing both Draft:Robert (Bob) Nicholls and Draft:Robert Nicholls. The former is a redirect to the latter following the move. Best, -- Sam Sailor Talk! 11:32, 1 October 2015 (UTC)

- Yes, that is a self-published source, subjects press kit, and it might pass, but I had hoped for something better, a good, long interview from a reliable source, a solid review of a concert of his. The Diplomat (2015) response
Hi Sam Sailor:
Not sure if your note on my film page will be holding up the approval, but I wanted to let you know I will be revising the page to better follow the Manual Style/Film guidelines.
My questions is this: Should I wait until the page is approved or not approved to make the changes or can I go ahead and alter the page now?
And here is one more question for you...the guideline state that films with similar names should be named like this: The Diplomat (2015 film) How do I change the name of the overall page to reflect this guideline?
If you can, please reply to this note on the page I created. Thank you!!!

- @Sludaw: Thanks for your message. I have moved the draft to Draft:The Diplomat (2015 film). Focus on the film. That means: cut the coatrack'ing and follow the MOS. The film is notable, no doubt. Tone it down. "Remarkable" "singular". Cut it out. Belongs on a blog, not here. Remember what Gertrude Stein told a young writer in Paris: drop the adjectives. He did, and then he did well. His last name rhymes on lemming-clay. -- Sam Sailor Talk! 01:19, 6 October 2015 (UTC)
Hey - This is what I have in mind as a minimum requirement for inclusion: A pre-existing wiki page that expands on a street's notability, coupled with a reason a street may be notable beyond just being a big street: Being the hub of an industry - particularly becoming strongly associated/metonymous with that industry or being the subject of popular media. Each of the streets in this revision meets multiple elements of this criteria. About 1/3rd have their notability mentioned in external lists, and I'd guess I could provide an external reference for most entries from national tourism sites without too much trouble. I also figured making this into a table asking for images/articles/reasons for notability creates a barrier for throwing in just any street. Is there a way to lay out these criteria explicitly and enforce them on a page? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thare (talk • contribs) 14:42, 5 October 2015 (UTC)
- @Thare: Thanks for your message. Please remember that new discussion page messages and topics should always be added to the bottom. In the future you can use the "New section" link in the top right. For more details see the talk page guidelines. First of all and most importantly: I salute you for a great job! Wikitables aren't easy, you have put a lot of hours into that list, and the result is good looking. Now to the sour part: I think we are heading straight for the rocks with an article title like this and lack of exclusion/fluffy inclusion criteria; "pre-existing wiki page" that's fine, but then it becomes open to interpretation "that expands on a street's notability". From there on it gets worse "Being the hub of an industry" ... "being the subject of popular media". I fear we would have a situation where users from every 1+ million inhabitants city would like to squeeze in a main street. And I bet they could find a source too that supported the street in question being unique and special and subject of popular media. Ah, we don't have a limit, do we? Jerusalem is sub-1M. So in comes all the other sub-1M cities, Dublin, Amsterdam, Oslo, Copenhagen, and they shout WP:GEOBIAS at 120dB. Not to speak about: where's Africa? ... I hate to sound discouraging, I know I do. ... I had a look around, we have Wikipedia:WikiProject Lists and I will post over there and ask for some feedback on your draft. Whatever happens with this draft, don't give up on Wikipedia. If I can be of any help, never hesitate to drop me a line. And in closing: I think you are pretty creative when you include Canal Grande on such a list. :-) Best, -- Sam Sailor Talk! 23:59, 5 October 2015 (UTC) P.S. Please sign your posts on talk pages per Wikipedia:Sign your posts on talk pages. Thanks!
- @Sam Sailor: First of all thanks for seeing that I'm new and going easy on me! I've thought about it and tried to formalize a more rigorous inclusion criteria which is as follows:
- A pre-existing Wikipedia entry with images
- An external site from a reputable source which mentions the notability of the street
- At least TWO of the following mentioned on the Wikipedia page and which can be independently confirmed:
1. Culturally Significant (site of major government buildings, monuments, museums, tourist attraction, historical events, metonymy etc. with wiki-pages as appropriate) 2. Functions as its city’s main industrial hub (Retail, Fashion, Media, Finance, etc.), with the understanding that major world cities may have multiple hubs 3. Site of major landmarks or events which also have their own pre-existing wiki pages 4. Subject of works of popular culture which also have a pre-existing wiki pages 5. Meets the criteria for a significant superlative (longest, widest, most expensive etc.) as confirmed by a reputable source.
Obviously any list of notable things is going to have gray area, but I think this is fairly rigorous and will keep a lot of unnecessary entries away. Again though, it's one thing to lay out criteria, but I have no idea how to enforce it. Also it's been suggested that this list bit work better in pieces (like Notable streets of South America, etc.) - would that help with anything? Also I did try to see if any African roads made it onto some pre-existing compilations, but bias is real and most of those lists are very US/Europe heavy. I'm trying to beef-up the South America representation now and WILL double back to dig up African streets that meet this criteria, though I'm guessing they'll be harder to find. Thare (talk)

A/Prof Ned Abraham - Draft
Dear Sam Sailor,
Thank you for reviewing our first draft for the page.
Your Comment: As far as I can tell, all "references" now found in section /References/ instead of inline are publications by subject. Rename that section to something like /Selected works/ and turn it into a bulleted list removing the ref tags. Then find some reliable sources on subject and add them inline. If you need any help and guidance just leave me a message on my talk page. -- Sam Sailor Talk! 09:07, 8 September 2015 (UTC)
I have made the updates that you suggested and renamed the references section to be called "Selected Works" and made that section bulleted.
On the question of reliable sources. Are you able to take a closer look at the "Selected Works" which have links to let me know if any of them are "in" or "out" in terms of reliable sources?
With this I was going to request further information from Ned on the context of the production of the items listed. I then will need some help with how to do the technical referencing in line as I was having trouble with that...
Thank you very much for your advice.
Kind regards,

Page notability and list reference
Hiya, a month ago, the St Joseph School page was rejected based on lack of notability. A reference to this school already exists on wikipedia lists, so could the subject not already be considered notable because of that fact? I am not sure how much more notable facts that I can find about the school, as I seem to have exhausted online references. I would be sad to see this page not get created, as this is the only US-based St Joseph School not to have a page on wikipedia. Thank you! Mahmoud Abdel Moghny
Thanks for asking me about possibility of reviving page. But as discussion came to a concensus of delete at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Mahmoud Abdel Moghny it is just too early to try to reestablish it so soon. In any case, we have an Arabic page for the individual here محمود عبد المغني which is sufficient for now. Anyway most of those interested in the Arab World do have access to that quite extensive presentation. werldwayd (talk) 23:59, 11 October 2015 (UTC)

- @Doug Weller: Neither am I, and after having browsed sources it is likely UNESCO is right in saying that "the exact origin of the Ranthambhore fort is still disputed". It's also possible that parts of the material Ranaharra removed should either be pruned or be better sourced, but a 4.8k deletion of otherwise sourced material without at least an explanation in the edit summary is bound to be treated under WP:BLANKING. If you think I have been unjust while STiki'ing, please do revert me. Copenhagen
Hi, thank you for what you did to List of Rectors of the University of Copenhagen. I created the article two years back but shied away from categorizing the individual rector bios and adding the missing (1537-1850) part. I see the number of red links in the page outweigh the blue links. I wonder if you know folks who will be interested in creating the articles.
I feel there is a scope to create a page listing all red linked rectors/academic heads of universities (not limited to Denmark) and link it from Wikipedia:WikiProject Missing encyclopedic articles. All of them would pass our notability requirements per WP:PROF (criteria 6).
I note there is Wikipedia:WikiProject Missing encyclopedic articles/Thomson-Reuters most cited scientists but albeit with a different scope. Solomon7968 17:11, 13 October 2015 (UTC)

- To editor Thepantry: The tone of the draft should be addressed, it starts out bad with "Seattle-based VICIS, Inc. is developing new football helmet technology that better addresses forces thought to cause concussion." and gets worse, e.g. "VICIS is filling this void by completely re-imagining the football helmet." -- Sam Sailor Talk! 17:37, 13 October 2015 (UTC)
Sam, thanks for the feedback on the proposed VICIS article. Can you give me a little more information regarding the tone? Is it too commercial, too vague, something else? I could use a little more direction in order to fix the problem. On a separate note, can you tell me if I've satisfied the notability requirement? Thanks,
Ray Thepantry (talk) 22:21, 20 October 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Ray. Two year old company, working on a sports (football) helmet, not yet on the market. Did I get that right? I think you need to refocus here. The WP:ARTICLETITLE suggest that the reader will get info on a company, but right from the third word the promo-propulsion churns away talking flattery about a product that is still on the drawing board/in development. Mentioning products or services in business related articles are naturally not prohibited, but featuring them in the WP:LEAD easily leaves an impression of WP:PROMOTION, and notice that our notability guideline for organizations and companies expressly states that "If the products and services are not notable enough for their own article, the discussion of them should be trimmed and summarized into a shorter format, or even cut entirely." The tone in the draft is really perfect, e.g. "VICIS is filling this void by completely re-imagining the football helmet." and several other examples, that's perfect for a marketing brochure; but no good for an encyclopedia. So focus. Or maybe WP:TNT and start from scratch only using what the secondary sources say. Yup, it'll be short, it'll be without passion, but that's how it done here. For inspiration on writing better articles about companies and organizations read Wikipedia:WikiProject Companies/Guidelines. I hope this helps. By the way, did the Swedish bicycle airbag-helmet Hövding make it to the US yet? Youtube -- Sam Sailor Talk! 00:37, 21 October 2015 (UTC)
Sam, I sincerely appreciate your feedback. I'm going to post a new draft of the article that expunges the marketing speak and self flattery. I've linked all claims in the new draft to credible, third-party sources. The one thing that will remain is a focus on the product. At its current stage, the company VICIS is the helmet it will introduce next year.
I've never seen the Hovding helmet. That would be one heck of sight on the football field.
Thanks again. I hope the next draft is much closer to acceptable. Best,

N'Diaga Samb
Hi. You removed the prod tag for this article, and I have no issue with that, I'm just trying to figure out if my understanding of the prod blp is correct. When I initially read it, I thought that it had to be at least one reliable source. I saw the one reference, but when I went to WP:prodblp, it says that the references need to be reliable. Now, re-reading the guideline, I see that I was in error (I think), and that reliability is not a condition, it can be even a non-RS citation. Is that correct? Thanks. Onel5969 TT me 13:02, 14 October 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Onel. Yes, your reread is correct. Reliability is not a condition if there is a source that confirms anything about subject. (A common analogue mistake is to tag with {{BLP unsourced}} in articles without inline citations but one or more URLs in say § External links.) However, if no source of any kind is present, and {{Prod blp}} is added, then it can only be removed once a RS is added. Even among admins this is sometimes misunderstood. I had recently endorsed a PRODBLP, the creator (likely subject) added two sources, articles written by himself and posted online; an admin removed the Prod blp. I left her a polite note asking her to reexamine those two sources pointing to WP:BLPPROD and WP:IRS; she did, and deleted the article. No big deal. Just goes to show the finer details of some rules can be tricky.
- Likewise the rules concerning WP:PROD are sometimes misunderstood: WP:CONTESTED: anybody can contest a PROD by removing it, no need for sourcing, no need for edit summary, and it may not be reverted and may not be re-added. An editor with more than 10 years under his belt recently misunderstood that at AfD.
- There's a lot to learn here. I recently tagged a userpage that was a WP:FAKEARTICLE with CSD#U5, only to have it declined and asked to take it to MfD. Why? Because the user had made more than a handful of edits in main space, and then CSD#U5 is no longer a possibility. -- Sam Sailor Talk! 16:37, 14 October 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks for the detailed explanation. Definitely get it now. Onel5969 TT me 18:37, 14 October 2015 (UTC)
sipXcom project
Hi Sam Sailor,
Trying to get my page approved and keep running into roadblocks. I just got the third rejection and this is getting frustrating.
This page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:SipXcom) is not substantially different from the format of the project it was forked from sipXecs (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enterprise_Communications_System_sipXecs). We do want to have a page for the new project however under the new name.
I've added sources, I've simplified, not sure why now this is 'not notable'.
Thanks,
Mike

13:48:03, 15 October 2015 review of submission by DanielgalvinOBE
Hi Sam, Your comment on submission suggested that I was writing an autobiography when this is not a case - I am Sonia Lall writing about Daniel Galvin - a prominent person in the hair industry. — Preceding unsigned comment added by DanielgalvinOBE (talk • contribs) 13:48, 15 October 2015 (UTC)
- Hmm, ok. Strange choice of username. I see Voceditenore has posted on your talk page. If it's partly a matter of you forgetting passwords to the other accounts, please say so so we can remove two of the three drafts and move forward. -- Sam Sailor Talk! 15:57, 16 October 2015 (UTC)
- DanielgalvinOBE, why did you claim on Draft talk:Daniel Galvin (2) that your name was "Jessica Psalia"? Does more than one person have the password to this account and is more than one person using it? That is strictly forbidden. Voceditenore (talk) 16:12, 16 October 2015 (UTC)
- Oh, did they claim another name over there? *Sigh* Thanks, Voceditenore. -- Sam Sailor Talk! 16:16, 16 October 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Sam. I've asked for clarification on User talk:DanielgalvinOBE here. Then I'm going to ask an administrator to look at the situation. Best, Voceditenore (talk) 18:41, 17 October 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Voceditenore. The older accounts are stale, otherwise we could have filed an SPI. I'm all for WP:PI, but in a case like this we could maybe circumvent WP:LIGHTBULB-symptoms with a very simple cure: either you or I write a short stub on Daniel Galvin. Then the drafts can be left to a silent G13 death. -- Sam Sailor Talk! 19:02, 17 October 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Sam. Yes, I'd thought about a preemptive strike as well. I've done a couple of those at AfC, although in both cases they were caused by editors who simply could not wrap their heads around "no copyvio". I guess the main problem here is that an article might then be the subject of constant inappropriate "improvements". The two previous accounts ( User:DanielGalvin1 and User:Colourguru2015) are not worth worrying about, but this current account is almost certainly being shared by 2 employees of a PR agency hired by Galvin. That will certainly have to be dealt with if that account keeps editing. Voceditenore (talk) 09:55, 18 October 2015 (UTC)

Voceditenore, you are right and I have posted a {{Uw-paid1}} on their talk page. Yes, a Daniel Galvin would have to be watched, but at least we would save precious time at AfC trying to explain the BLP policies and declining the drafts. But I'll heed your advise any day. -- Sam Sailor Talk! 11:04, 18 October 2015 (UTC)
- I think I'm going to go ahead and create a brief article, and we'll just have to watch it. I note that Daniel Galvin had been deleted in 2011 as copyvio and blatant advertising. It appears to have been created by someone from a different PR agency. Plus ça change and all that. {{{Sigh}}}. Best, Voceditenore (talk) 14:29, 18 October 2015 (UTC)
- Mais oui, Voceditenore, après nous, le déluge! ;) Can I be of any assistance? My gut feeling from when we met once in an BLP about an oboist (?) is that you'd rather DIY. Could I collect a bunch of {{cite book}}s with quotes and drop them in a sandbox for your consideration? -- Sam Sailor Talk! 15:08, 18 October 2015 (UTC)

Moving forward, I am the PR representative of Daniel Galvin and writing this article freely and for no profit as he is a prominent person in the hair industry such as Charles Worthington and Vidal Sassoon that both have pages. I have been unaware of the strict structure of Wikipedia and the guidelines but would appreciate any help on how to move forward and make one final edit for the page to be accepted. Or does the page have to be completely deleted and re-created to be reconsidered? Jessica Psaila (talk) 10:07, 20 October 2015 (UTC)
- @Jessica Psaila: An article on Daniel Galvin has been made in main space by Voceditenore. I don't think it is marginally possible to believe that you were trying to write an article about Daniel Galvin for no profit when you run a small PR company and list him as a client. I'm always glad to help other people who without auxiliary motives edit on Wikipedia and contribute to this extraordinary experiment. Single purpose accounts should read our policy Wikipedia:Conflict of interest and edit accordingly. -- Sam Sailor Talk! 10:41, 20 October 2015 (UTC)

About the talk page of Internet Horror Movie Database
Hello Sam Sailor, in the talk page of the internet horror movie database you have writtern: "Nothing to do here, it's not a valid request. Please refrain from cross-posting, this looks identical to your filing at ANI. Notice that the AfD closed as a redirect to Antony Coia and further edits on this talk page will largely be in vain." What do you mean? That there aren't any possibility in the future to re-open the page? Thank you--Pizzole (talk) 14:40, 26 October 2015 (UTC)
- No. It just was not a valid edit request. It was a verbatim copy of what you subsequently posted at ANI. Please take my advice: stop the argumenting now and take some time off from Wikipedia. You are not doing yourself a favor right now with what you write on ANI. I say this with a good and kind intention. -- Sam Sailor Talk! 15:26, 26 October 2015 (UTC)
