Unwarrented deletion of user page
I'm not quite sure why you deleted one of my user sub pages (User:HuffTheWeevil/Places I've Been). Thousands of other Wikipedia users have the exact same types of pages. So why did you pick on me? HuffTheWeevil / talk / contribs 01:23, 24 July 2014 (UTC)
- I pick on nobody - it was tagged for deletion as WP:NOTWEBHOST by Rosario Berganza - it was then deleted several hours later. If you object, I can restore and the other user will have to consider WP:MfDRonhjones (Talk) 20:10, 24 July 2014 (UTC)
- As you know, once the page is deleted, I have no idea who tagged it for deletion. But it is my opinion that you should have to wait at least 24 hours. I should have ample time to contest the deletion. So yes, please restore it so that I can go through the proper process of contesting it. Thank you. Reverted edits
Hi Ronhjones. FYI, I reinstated 4 of Mateka9911's edit that you reverted, because they were valid edits. That is one of the frustrating things about that editor - they actually made some helpful edits in amongst the disruptive ones. Regards. DH85868993 (talk) 00:59, 24 July 2014 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of 2016 Formula One season
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on 2016 Formula One season, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. ...William 17:36, 28 July 2014 (UTC)
Shoukhrat Mitalipov biography
Hi! I have seen that you deleted the new page about Shoukhrat Mitalipov, I don't really understand why you deleted my page. i can provide as much source as i can. Dolatjan (talk) 20:37, 26 July 2014 (UTC)

Sanaz Marand
Hello, I recently created an article titled, "Sanaz Marand". The article had been deleted, as this tennis player had not yet met the Tennis Notability Guidelines. However, she will appear this week in the WTA 2014 Citi Open doubles competition. Now that she's appeared in a WTA main draw, does she meet the Tennis Notability Guildlines? If so, is it possible for my created page to be restored instead of creating a new one?

Australia (yacht) photos
Thank you for deleting my photos from the 'Australia (yacht)' page.
However I did provide the permission through the 'permissions@wikipedai' email.
ALthough I have been requested to provide something further, this should not have resulted in a deletion - especially as it took wikipedia a week to get back to me with the request for further information. Dazcag (talk) 00:48, 1 August 2014 (UTC)
- You never annotated the images with OTRS Pending - that is the only way to extend the live time before deletion, otherwise we don't know you have submitted anything to OTRS - Plenty of people just leave the image with "Evidence: Will be provided on request" and hope that will do. Since you say you have submitted the notice, I will restore and add the template - you then need to get the images approved - I'm regularly deleting "OTRS pending" that are >60 days waiting. Murray & Roberts
Hi Ronhjones, I noticed that you have deleted the page Murray & Roberts. As one of the contributors/creators of this article I was very surprised to only find out about this now by accident as I was not notified of its proposed deletion. Murray & Roberts is a very notable construction company that I feel passes the notability tests for organiasitons and companies. As such I ask that you please undelete it and restore the page on main space.
Reasons for undelete:
- Murray & Roberts has the subject of significant coverage in secondary sources. (see Sources list for a few of the articles out there mentioning the company)
- It is very large and a pillar of industry in the South African economy
- It is a multinational sized and based corporation with projects all over the world.
- Contributors to the article such as myself were not notified that it was being nominated for deletion.

- You don't have to prove it to me - any deleted PROD can be restored on request - it becomes a contested PROD. Only the person who created the page gets the notification of delete (in this case the person who created it - put it up for deletion). They may decide to go to WP:AfD, that will be their choice. Photo of Steven Naifeh
We have talked to the photographer, and he gave us permission to use this on Wikipedia. We also gave him all the info on confirming the licensing with Wikipedia, but apparently he has not completed that process. I'll try to get ahold of him and remind him. Thanks for the heads up! Sehr Gut (talk) 16:19, 3 August 2014 (UTC)
- NB: It's possible he's sent something in that is not suitable, and he hasn't noticed a reply (we had a current bug at OTRS, so we cannot search anything longer than 30 characters - so searching urls isn't working, hence I wait 60 days before tagging, rather than 30) If he has sent something in, and can't find a reply then e-mail me his e-mail address so I can find any ticket that might have arrived. Ronhjones (Talk) 18:13, 3 August 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks! Mr. Naifeh is contacting the photographer again, so OTRS should be hearing from him again soon. Sehr Gut (talk) 14:43, 4 August 2014 (UTC)
- I see that the other image created by this photographer (1) was approved with an OTRS ticket. That ticket may have information regarding this image as well. I'm PMing you the photographer's email address. Cheers! Sehr Gut (talk) 15:13, 4 August 2014 (UTC)
- @Sehr Gut All comes clear with that link! The image was approved on the same ticket as the other photo - The image was then moved to commons and the ticket applied, but the en-wiki image was left with the "OTRS pending" (I would have added the ticket and then moved it...) As the en-wiki image is the same name, you cannot see the commons image! I've deleted the en-wiki image, now the commons image with it's ticket shows through. Ronhjones (Talk) 19:35, 4 August 2014 (UTC)
- Awesome! I'm still seeing the "pending" tag on the image in the lightbox Media Viewer, so perhaps it's taking time for the change to propagate through some caching for the viewer? Sehr Gut (talk) 21:49, 5 August 2014 (UTC)
- Remember the image is on your hard drive - you may be seeing a cached image. See WP:BYPASS and WP:PURGE Ronhjones (Talk) 21:59, 5 August 2014 (UTC)

Photo for Helen Sung Wikipedia page
Hello, my name is Helen Sung and I have been trying to update the photo on my Wikipedia page. But it keeps getting removed, and I don't understand why. The photos belong to me and I'm at my wit's end about this. I think you are the most recent person to have removed my photo and I am trying to resolve this as soon as possible. Please advise, thank you. Helen 71.246.102.224 (talk) 21:36, 5 August 2014 (UTC)
- You stated
- Description = Photo taken of pianist Helen Sung performing live.
- Source = Sent to me personally
- Author = Ella Gahnt
- Permission = Evidence: Will be provided on request.
- Ms. Gahnt took this photo of me during one of my performances. She sent it (along w/several other shots) to me for use as I saw fit.
- So we need formal permission from Ella Gahnt to release the copyright to least CC-BY-SA - the procedure is described at WP:DCM. Or get Ella Gahnt to personally upload the image with a CC-BY-SA license. Although most people are happy to give photos out, very often we find that once the CC-BY-SA license is explained to them - then they back out, often because they do not want others to be able to use the images commercially with no fee. Huggle
Hi again, I just started using huggle from today, had made like 2 edits from it some 2-3 months ago but today I did over 50. You've got over 37,000 edits with huggle, got any tips? I find that this program has some benefits over other programs such as Stiki, you can skip the edit that is not vandalism while Stiki warns against skipping. OccultZone (Talk • Contributions • Log) 13:26, 30 July 2014 (UTC)
- It's been a while... I still had version 2.1.16 on my PC - too many pages to delete these-days. Loaded up V3 - similar - I used to have some user defined edit summaries in V2 - I think that's gone now, maybe it does not need them now! Make your own queue - I would tick all the boxes in the queue defining box, make sure the queue is set to keep going when full and not stop. For V2 I used to set 2 minutes as life in queue (the default was 10), not sure if that option is in V3 (can't see it in my User:Ronhjones/huggle3.css file)- it meant I only saw edits of less than 2 minutes - otherwise someone else has reverted first! DO learn the keyboard shortcuts - you can't move the mouse that fast - when there is a lot of vandalism then... space Q space Q etc soon sorts them out! I've in the UK in the evening so I got to see a lot of US school edits :-) Quiet time now that schools are out. Only final thing is that if your have any thoughts about being an admin later, then don't overdo it - read Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Ronhjones and you will see why - WP:EDITCOUNTITIS in spades. - Thanks for sharing. Amount of vandalism is still high and today if there is huge amount of constructive editing, it would technically suppress the chances of picking out the vandalism as many of our anti-vandal users depends upon Special:RecentChanges. Overdoing really leads to generalization and must be avoided. Your RFA was interesting for a read, especially that "we don't want automated user for admin". Now even if those opposes had any sense you've already got over 45,000 non-automated edits, such concerns are outdated but then they may have really mattered. OccultZone (Talk • Contributions • Log) 14:22, 31 July 2014 (UTC)
- Whatever you don't do well - will be found at RfA, you can please some of the people some of the time... RfAs that sail through are rare, and they should have applied years before! (I'll exclude my commons RfA - that was quite different!) In my Huggle days there were 12 vandals a minute in 150 total changes. The bigger WP gets, the more editors appear... As I've got on my talk page This user thinks that registration should be required to edit articles. - I think that day will eventually come, who knows when? Until then we just have to live with the policies in place. Ronhjones (Talk)
- That's why wikipedia is different than all, even IPs can edit. OccultZone (Talk • Contributions • Log) 12:46, 5 August 2014 (UTC)
- Even if this proposal got accepted, soon these same people will request for signups that would include real life details, then they will ask to include a photo, then more and more, if any single detail would be left empty it will be pointed during the conduct of user. Better to just ignore or tame down such proposal from start.

- It's always hard to know where to draw a line in the sand. Let's face it, we used to have article creation allowed by IPs - that's been stopped for a very long time - about 2006. See Wikipedia:Autoconfirmed Proposal/Poll (and talk page) for a read of changing auto confirm requirements - it impossible to please everybody about that! - getting agreement for no IP editing is many years away. Assuming good faith
Hi Ron,
I was hoping you could offer some advice on an issue I am having with another user. He and I do not get along, and have not for some time. All of this came to a head in the past two days or so when he reported me to ANI/3RR. It's true that there was some edit-warring involved, but this is a separate issue - it's not the first time that he has reported me to an ANI. No action aside from the odd warning has ever been taken, but what bothers me is that these reports always co-incide with a dispute over content that we have had. It's happened so often that I can no longer assume good faith in his actions; I am beginning to believe that he is abusing the ANI process to try and get editors he disagrees with blocked.
Maybe I'm just being paranoid, but he has employed some extremely aggressive and under-handed tactics in the past, such as deliberately stalling discussions and refusing to acknowledge a consensus among editors to claim NOCONSENSUS and keep his preferred edits in an article. Similarly, he has admitted in the past that he will do a 2RR, and then sit on the page waiting for a revert before going to ANI. Likewise, he has grossly misrepresented issues when calling for mediation to the point where other editors comment on it. Consequently, I have a very hard time assuming good faith in his edits.
This particular user claims that he only ever goes to ANI to act in the interests of an article, but I have only ever seen him refer editors that he has had a disagreement with, and he happily ignores other issues that, if he was true to his word, he would have reported. Hence, I believe that he is abusing the ANI system, and that it can no longer be ignored. Is there something that can be done, like banning him from reporting to ANI? Prisonermonkeys (talk) 05:59, 10 August 2014 (UTC)
- Since you suspect he might be gaming the system, then the answer is to not to fall foul of any rules. When you know you are reverting on of his edits, then just do the one revert, if he reverts back, then discuss WP:BRD - if you cannot agree then go to dispute resolution, don't do a second revert. Some editors do sit there waiting for just one rule to be broken, I don't know if this is the case, but when you suspect such a case, you must take extra care. I doubt if there is any rule that would allow his to stop using ANI, it would have to be a full block - and as such unlikely to happen at present. Ronhjones (Talk) 20:15, 10 August 2014 (UTC)

Page : Surendra Krishna Deleted
Hi Ron Johnes,
I have created a page called Surendra Krishna. He is a good writer and a lyricist in Telugu(Indian) Cinema. He has written over 100 songs and might deserve to have a page on Wikipedia. Few of his songs stood as chart busters for long time.
I have provided few links of web that mentioned his name.
Here are few more :

- http://www.telugulyrics.org/Songs.aspx?Source=Lyricist&ID=323&Name=Surendra%20Krishna

Here are few links where his name was mentioned in Wiki pages :

Could you please re-instate the page or let me know what information should I provide to get the page live.

To those who are constantly complaining about my editing on Fields Medal page.Especially some Wikipedia editors.
To those who are constantly complaining about my editing on Fields Medal page.Especially some Wikipedia editors. Can you give a justified, comprehensive definition about the concept of Nationality? Does nationality determine with birthplace?if the answer is yes,why Alexander Grothendieck is referring as "Stateless",despite what has been written in his Wikipedia page? Does nationality determine with the place that someone raised in?if the answer is yes,why Manjul Bhargava is mentioned both as Canadian and American despite being raised in US? The approach that has been chosen for determining the Nationality of Fields Medal laureates are quite biased. Rezameyqani (talk) 08:46, 14 August 2014 (UTC)

article deletion "Rising Star Casino Resort"
I think the article for "Rising Star Casino Resort" should be reinstated. Relevant sources include: http://www.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/news/2011/08/12/grand-victoria-casino-gets-new-name.html
as well as what appears to be the current website for the resort: http://www.risingstarcasino.com/
Currently there is a link to the "Rising Star Casino Resort" article from the following useful Wikipedia page: "List of casinos in Indiana"

Please restore article Team City
You deleted the article Team City. It is a important and recognized system in the CI world. Please restore it and I improve it. TeamBuild2020 (talk) 23:11, 17 August 2014 (UTC)
- Well I would if I could find it! Team City has never been created - have you got the name correct - searching deleted titles is very limited. Also checked Team city - never created either. There was a TeamCity - but that was restored well over a month ago and moved to User:Encyclopedant/TeamCity by user:Tokyogirl79 Ronhjones (Talk) 23:37, 17 August 2014 (UTC)
- I remember moving it there after someone requested it be restored. Doesn't look like anyone did anything with it. On a side note, your username is slightly problematic since it kind if suggests that you are involved with Team City to some extent, so I would recommend that you read over our WP:COI policy if you are part of the Team City crew and you're looking to edit the userfied copy and resubmit it to the mainspace. - Are you involved with the band Tokio Hotel because your username sounds similar? In fact that would be very bad for your reputation at all. Just kidding. I'm a build engineer team lead with the internal mission to bring our build infrastructure (which is really big) to the next century. That's my name. A team member had to do some research about state of the art CI tools, and found that nobody has taken care of this section in Wikipedia since months (or years). So I decided to update some articles. We are evaluating Team City (among others) at the moment, so I just contribute my findings. TeamBuild2020 (talk) 15:55, 18 August 2014 (UTC)

Leyla Yunus, prominent human rights defender, page deleted -- please could you restore?
Hello,
We've noted that the Wikipedia entry for the prominent human rights defender, Leyla Yunus, seemed to have been deleted in July 2014. Could you kindly restore and protect this entry? Leyla Yunus is an internationally acclaimed human rights defender in Azerbaijan, who has worked for decades to promote human rights and peace building in the country, risking her life, liberty and health. On 30 July 2014, Leyla was arrested by the Azeri government on false charges. Her husband, Arif Yunus, also a human rights defender and conflictologist, was imprisoned soon after. Rasul Jafarov and Intagim Aliev, also human rights defenders were also arrested in this recent wave of crackdowns on civil society in the country (several other defenders have been threatened and many organizations shut down). There are dozens of statements and articles about this wave of arrests and attacks on civil society -- see just the ones from Human Rights Watch (http://www.hrw.org/news/2014/08/05/dispatches-towering-figures-silenced-azerbaijan-s-crackdown). Please let me know how to help restore this entry, it is an important part of recognizing her powerfully important work, particularly now that she remains imprisoned, and is in seriously deteriorating health. There's not enough bad editing now for a block, maybe you can add a note to them when there is an issue - their current editing pattern would suggest they need a fresh warning or two (if there is a bad edit) before a block. Alessandro Esseno page
Hi Ronhjones,
Let me explain what's going on. I think I'll need your help. After many years, the Italian Wikipedia page of composer and pianist Alessandro Esseno was canceled on the pretext that this artist would have released all his records with the record label owned by him. This is totally false. There are link iTunes and Amazon that witness. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss/186-0955803-3150508?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=alessandro+esseno In addition to this has been put in doubt that this artist can be "encyclopedic". This is despite a slew of articles about him in specialized journals since 1990, radio and television interviews, concerts in Italy and abroad, and of esteem on the part of people like Carla Bruni-Sarkozy and Sting. http://www.tvnumeriuno.it/?p=982 Many of us in Italy, to admire the musical art of this great artist, and frankly what's going on there seems deeply unfair to him. Every news has been checked with great care. In 2006 the CD "La Terra non finisce all'orizzonte" published by Rai Trade, has passed into the iTunes charts, the album by Ennio Morricone. This is not quite encyclopedic? Esseno was a guest in 2009 of the prestigious Ravello Festival, in 2011 he performed at the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome. It is not a stranger. So why all this malice against him? In 2013 Rai Uno (the TV most important in Italy) has dedicated a special visible on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I_2-k8G-NZA Until the publication of his groundbreaking method of composition: http://www.inmondadori.it/metodo-composition-Alessandro-Esseno/eai978889112507/ I am convinced that the truth always wins in the end, both the prejudices that on lies. I would be honored if you would help me to fix the page en.wikipedia. Esseno deserves it. Ars gratia Artis. Thank you.--91.252.52.64 (talk) 23:58, 2 September 2014 (UTC)

Deletion of "List of sandbox games"
Is there any way to prevent the deletion of pages like this in the future? Surely leaving a notice of "under construction" or "incomplete" would be enough to leave it open long enough for others to locate it and begin contributing.
https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=List_of_sandbox_games&action=edit&redlink=1 Wikinium (talk) 19:58, 3 September 2014 (UTC)
- It's only a PROD deletion, I can undelete on request if you want. With four million plus pages, it's unlikely that many will "wander" onto it. We do ask the nominators to notify the creator, but it's not mandatory. If undeleted then it would have to got for a full WP:AfD, if the nominator wants to do so. You can use under construction, but it's only really designed for a few days use. Ronhjones (Talk) 21:08, 3 September 2014 (UTC)

Hi Ronhjones, would you mind undeleting File:Wilhelm Reich in his mid-twenties.JPG? It was being used as the lead image in Wilhelm Reich. I didn't say anything at the time because it was on Commons too, but it's now a red link, so I assume has been deleted from there. SlimVirgin (talk) 22:16, 3 September 2014 (UTC)
- @SlimVirgin - ???? It's still on commons. Nothing in the deletion log there. Ronhjones (Talk) 22:28, 3 September 2014 (UTC)

You declined the PROD on Rob hegel with the argument that a reference had been added. But the requirement is that a reliable source be added, and certainly none of the sources provided can be counted as reliable. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 02:48, 4 September 2014 (UTC)
- You have 5 references there - we can discount 1 and 4. The other three are more of a grey area. They aren't blogs or editable by the public nor made by the page subject. Personally I think such pages should go for a normal PROD as "not notable". You can't expect admins to know whether every reference is truly reliable or not - we have to delete pages that are not in our own "subject field". BLPPROD is far better suited to those many pages with zero references. Ronhjones (Talk) 19:09, 4 September 2014 (UTC)
What was the trigger?
Hi! I'm looking at the copyvio at Aqua (mineral water), which is clear-cut enough. Draft: Sam Semple / Proposed Picture
Hi Ronhjones,
I have an article on singer/songwriter Sam Semple currently in review: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Sam_Semple
I submitted a pic of Sam singing at his album launch and I sent an email to permissions-en@wikimedeia.org giving evidence of the photographer's permission to use this picture 'in any way you wish'.
The picture has been removed but I wonder if Wikipedia might reconsider this decision in light of the email I sent which clearly shows permission being granted to use the pic.
We can always find another picture but I just thought I'd double-check about this one.
Many thanks

- I can't see any e-mail in OTRS with "Semple" in it - but searching for e-mails when you don't know the text sent is not foolproof. When you use OTRS - you need to add OTRS pending to the image page as that can take up to 30 days - I've restored for now and added the template, you need to ensure that it all complete in the next month. I have never been through this process (of wanting to edit an admin-protected page) before, so apologies if I'm not following the correct protocol, happy to take advice/direction of how to go about this. Clare. (talk) 03:43, 6 September 2014 (UTC)

I would normally suggest using WP:AfC, but since I see you have created 856 articles, that might be a bit of an insult! (probably 800 more than me as well...). Have a look at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Godwin Grech first - if you think that the new article will address all the concerns stated there, then come back and tell me, and I will unprotect for you. Ronhjones (Talk) 17:58, 6 September 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks Ronhjones. I have gone ahead and looked at the deletion log, and am pursuing this using WP:AfC. By the way, your suggestion was not at all insulting, and I am sure the number I have created is much lower! Thanks for your help. - @User:Clare. You are correct - it's 434 - It was bit late last night...! 856 is the total of all types of pages you have created. https://tools.wmflabs.org/xtools/pages/?user=Clare.&project=en.wikipedia.org&namespace=all&redirects=none. If the draft get approved then they will sort out the protection - there is at least one reviewer who is an admin. Ronhjones (Talk) 17:08, 7 September 2014 (UTC)

Financial Ombudsman Service links
Hello Ron
I hope you're well.
I'm not sure if you're the right person to ask, but you kindly replied on the page before, so I thought I'd check.
The third link on our page is broken and needs to be replaced with this one: http://www.which.co.uk/consumer-rights/problem/can-i-take-my-financial-complaint-to-the-financial-ombudsman
Can you fix that for us please?
By the way, what are the ethical considerations for us of making simple fixes like this ourselves? Is it usual that large organisation's sort our their own inaccuracies?
Thanks for your time.
ShaneShanemckenna7 (talk) 14:25, 8 September 2014 (UTC)
- I will direct you to WP:COI for a fuller explanation. As regard the broken link - I don't see an issue with fixing it - so long as the new link gives the same data as the old link - otherwise it may need to be fixed as per WP:LINKROT (if possible). Do always use the edit summary when making any edits - COI edits will be more scrutinised. Ronhjones (Talk) 19:24, 8 September 2014 (UTC)

Article rewritten
Hello, Ron. You deleted All-Women Ultra Marathon because it was a copyright infringement of http://www.allwomenultramarathon.com/?page_id=7 . This is my fault, since I should have checked more carefully and rewritten or removed the copyright text before adding to it. I have created a new draft about this topic at User:Anne Delong/All-Women Ultra Marathon. Since all of the text in the deleted article, other than that which was written by me, was a copyright infringement, there should be no need for attribution to anyone else. If you agree that the draft is no longer an infringement, I will move it to All-Women Ultra Marathon to replace the deleted article. —Anne Delong (talk) 15:29, 9 September 2014 (UTC)

Page deleted: Marco Roberto Capelli
Hi, about deletion of page Marco Roberto Capelli, it exists in Spanish version: http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marco_Roberto_Capelli and both the group Martiria and the Literary Magazine Progetto Babele have pages in wikipedia: (i.e http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martiria - http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martiria - http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Progetto_Babele). It was also connected to several pages in the EN version: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Progetto_Babele http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capelli http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vinny_Appice
WOuld this be enough to undelete the page? Regards — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.185.105.200 (talk) 08:02, 10 September 2014 (UTC)
- It was only a PROD deletion - anyone can contest it, even after deletion - now restored. Note that the proposer can now got to WP:AfD if they wish, and also note the the criteria for inclusion in other wikis will not be the same - they have all grown with their own set of rules. deleted image, DC Thomson Family history HQ
Hi there, I took a photo of DC Thomson family history headquarters and it appears to have been deleted, which I'm sure is some kind of misunderstanding. The photo was given to me by the author, an employee of the company who was happy to have the image used and happy to send an email to that effect if required from a company address etc. - is there any way it can be restored or I can get him to take another one that would stay? It's definitely beneficial to the article and I want to make sure I'm doing all of this by the book. All the best Djangoinspired (talk) 16:27, 10 September 2014 (UTC)

Article Deletion
Hi Ronhjones . If you recall, we had the VPIN article nominated for speedy deletion, and after one week nobody opposed. Then it was moved to AfP, and here is the conclusion: VPIN. Do you think we can delete it now? One of the editors has resumed his personal attacks... Thanks!! Fkswe25 (talk) 21:32, 9 September 2014 (UTC)
- Check the page Wikipedia:Articles for deletion - Deletion requests started on the 2nd will start to be reviewed tomorrow - it needs to be done by an uninvolved admin. Ronhjones (Talk) 22:00, 9 September 2014 (UTC)

File:KASSMORGAN.jpg
I noticed your reversion of EuroCarGT's edit to File:KASSMORGAN.jpg and just thought I'd point out that the uploader has uploaded a series of images, all claiming that an OTRS email has been sent, all with "available online" as the source and all licensed with PD-author. That seems a little suspicious, especially when they're not all related. According to the EXIF data for File:KASSMORGAN.jpg, Julie Millet is the author, not Kass Morgan as claimed by the uploader. The complete image list is:
- File:Kass Morgan.jpeg - EXIF author Michael Bisberg, not Kass Morgan
- File:Kass Morgan.jpg
- File:KASSMORGAN.jpg - EXIF author Julie Millet, not Kass Morgan
- File:Neon Jungle.jpg
- File:WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE.jpg
- File:Serenaposter.jpg - Author claimed to be "Movie"[2] - now converted to fair use
- File:JenniferLaw.jpg
I've asked the uploader to add specific urls to each image, because "available online" is insufficient and to confirm that OTRS emails have been sent,[3] but he/she has gone quiet. --AussieLegend (✉) 17:14, 10 September 2014 (UTC)
- I go though the Category:Items pending OTRS confirmation of permission for over 60 days at regular intervals - their time in the sun is always short lived if they don't get the permission sorted. I'm using the 60 days at present as we had a indexing bug at OTRS which prevented searching for urls! However the bug was fixed on Aug 18th (for new e-mails only), so I will soon be pruning down the [:[Category:Items pending OTRS confirmation of permission for over 30 days]] post Sept 18th! A rare vandalism case
Do you still review the cases of vandalism and disruptive editing? There is one case on WP:AIV, please have a look. It is certainly 'rare' because disruption remains on going for months, user has returned after 3 months and renewed disruptive editing. His edits can be easily considered as vandalism. OccultZone (Talk • Contributions • Log) 19:25, 10 September 2014 (UTC)
- I'm everywhere...:-) It's very difficult, it not vandalism as per WP:Vandalism, but it is rather disruptive. He does seem very fixed on Unique Identification Authority of India and Aadhaar. Since everybody seems to be reverting the latter back to a redirect - I think it's best we fix that as protected. He may then attack the former, but I suspect there are more people watching that page, and he will have a harder time in getting his severe POV across. If he just continues with one article - then dispute resolution may be the best way forward. Ronhjones (Talk) 19:50, 10 September 2014 (UTC)
- Protection seemed the best way to deal with. Hopefully, if he is going to adhere to his 1 year old editing habit, he will try importing same content on other pages, including those that had been turned into redirect. OccultZone (Talk • Contributions • Log) 20:03, 10 September 2014 (UTC)

Reino Aarnio images
At File:ReinoAarnio5.jpg, there is something which looks like an OTRS ticket number in the permission field, but you tagged the file with . Is that one in some way related to the image? Should the file have some other tag, such as OTRS received or PermissionOTRS instead? Also note that the ticket number also is mentioned on some of the uploader's other images. --Stefan2 (talk) 20:59, 10 September 2014 (UTC)
- Someone has added that - not (I suspect) an OTRS agent. It does refer to the image, but there is no permission. I've added the correct banner. It can still go in 7 days, they have had long enough. Ronhjones (Talk) 21:06, 10 September 2014 (UTC)

- 3 park.jpg , 505.3 KBytes
- Sylvia and Reino Aarnio.jpg , 561.8 KBytes
- 4 park.jpg , 741.3 KBytes
- 7 park.jpg , 493.2 KBytes
- 9 park.jpg , 683.0 KBytes
- EDITED PHOTO OF REINO AARNIO.jpg , 574.1 KBytes
- October 1993 Family Photo.jpg , 486.6 KBytes
- Reino Aarnio at the drafting board New York.jpg , 1.5 MBytes
- No permission for any has been granted. Ronhjones (Talk) 21:09, 10 September 2014 (UTC)
- If they do ever get granted then the names of the images in the ticket (the jpgs were attached to the ticket) will have to be matched with the uploaded names...! Why change the file name before you get permission...? Ronhjones (Talk) 21:12, 10 September 2014 (UTC)
- The ticket number is mentioned on the file information page of several of the uploader's image. If you have the images in the OTRS system (and not only file names), you can probably identify the Wikipedia file names by comparing the user's uploads with the images in the OTRS ticket. However, if nothing shows up, it might not be worth the trouble to add OTRS received to them. --Stefan2 (talk) 21:18, 10 September 2014 (UTC)
- If I get a minute - I'll see if they are matchable, the 7 days notice is still going to stand. I don't think the OTRS will be sorted. Ronhjones (Talk) 21:26, 10 September 2014 (UTC)

Idea Museum logo
Hi. I guess you deleted my photo. The note said, "A tag has been placed on File:Idea Museum logo.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted." It was actually a photo I took of the sign on their building. The screws were visible on the edges. Is that a copyright infringement? Kirs10 (talk) 21:29, 11 September 2014 (UTC)
- The question of who took the image does not really matter (as a logo it was naturally a very close match to http://cybercraftrobots.com/press/). Who designed the logo? That is the person with the copyright. Taking a photo of a copyrighted image does not transfer the copyright to the photographer - it's just a derivative work - the copyright still belongs to the logo's creator - it is a 2D image, just like a painting. Normally taking an image for one's private collection is not big deal, however use at Wikipedia means that it can be re-used by anyone for any purpose including commercial use, and copyright owners are usually reluctant to give away their rights. Ronhjones (Talk) 22:30, 11 September 2014 (UTC)
- You could consider using it as a non-free logo if the WP:NFCC criteria can all be satisfied. You would have to reduce to 25% both ways = 410x239 pixels to be an acceptable size for non-free. If that is possible you need a filled in WP:FURG as a description and a Non-free logo as a license. Do check similar article to see how the non-free rationale is filled in - use Special:WhatLinksHere/Template:Non-free_logo to find some. Ronhjones (Talk) 22:42, 11 September 2014 (UTC)

File un-delete request
Hi there. Today, you deleted File:Youth Olympic Games 2018 Logo.png, because it was an unused non-free file. However, it was only unused because someone uploaded a version to Commons and used that in the original file's place. When the Commons file was inevitably deleted for being non-free, the page became logo-less. Could you un-delete the original if at all possible? Cheers, Malpass93! (what I've been up to/drop me a ___) 15:41, 12 September 2014 (UTC)
- @User:Malpass93 It was deleted as "unused" - all non free images must be on at least one page or they will be deleted 7 days later. Options...
- I could undelete for now and re-tag with a new "unused" banner - gives you 7 days to sort out the image's placement, but you will never be the creator, so any new delete notices will still go to User:Iehutin as the person who uploaded the image - who is not around anymore.
- You could e-mail me (link in tools on left of this page) and I will send you back the image and the page data - you could then upload with the basic upload form in one go and become the "creator" - attribution don't matter as it's non-free.
- Let me know which option you want to do. Ronhjones (Talk) 17:06, 12 September 2014 (UTC)
- Option No.1 would be preferable. I'll keep the file on my watchlist so that if any issues emerge later on, I'll be aware of them. Malpass93! (what I've been up to/drop me a ___) 18:20, 12 September 2014 (UTC)

Answer to your comments and thank you
Hello, I never responded to you because I did not how to get onto this site before. I am experimenting to learn how to do things properly in the future. I would like to have a page under my name Aneliese Roettger. I put in links that directly led to the tv shows and movies I was in and used the before and after, however, they were all taken down. I also put a link up to my IMDB page, and that was taken down too. Someone wrote back that I could have it on my page, but the content was wrong? I think it may have put in the wrong place, but I don't know how to find the right place to put it. I have read and re-read articles on how to, but I don't understand them. Is there a template I can download and put in the requested information there so I know that I am not doing something incorrectly? I may have to pay someone who knows how to help me. Any help as to where I can go find answers that I understand. I would reapply appreciate your advice. Thank you, Aneliese Roettger Aneliese Roettger (talk) 21:36, 13 September 2014 (UTC)
- You are going to struggle. Editors here do not like autobiographies - see WP:AUTO - it not forbidden but is strongly discouraged. I've added a template on your talk page to all the various policies and guidelines. I don't know if you qualify for inclusion, I would suggest you read WP:N as a general guide to notability and WP:ENT which refers to people in films, etc., as a start. Just to let you know your initial article was deleted because it had no references - there are two types of links in Wikipedia (A) Links to other pages using , these are useful but do not show notability, and (B) Proper references - links to external sites/papers/books/journals/etc., using - see WP:CITE for a full explanation - we need good, verifiable, reliable sources to show enough notability for inclusion. As regard paid editing, that is possible, but is again not recommended, as it is impossible for any paid editor to truly make a page from a neutral point of view - see WP:NPOV. I would also add that creating pages direct (as you tried) is the most difficult way to start, as soon as you hit save, many eyes will examine your new page, and decide if it should stay. I always tell all new editors to us the Article Wizard at WP:AfC, at least you can edit a page in relative peace, and when finished get a proper review from an experienced editor. Do remember that once a page is up and running, then any editor here can edit the article (so long as they follow the policies!), it is not possible to make a page and keep it as you like it - see WP:OWN, also if you have any skeletons in the cupboard then some one will find them and add them to the article - I've seen far too many articles started by a subject only to try to delete later, when all the old bad deeds came to light. Charlie's Farm
Hi There, I have been asked by the Director / Screenwriter for Charlie's Farm, Chrs Sun, to create the wiki page for the movie. Upon going to create the page I discovered a page had previously been made with the same title and had been deleted for copyright infringement.
Wiki advised I speak to those involved in its deletion prior to continuing.
The article I have prepared includes references. The Plot has been copied from both the IMBd websites and the Official Charlies Farm website, with permission from the Director himself and all these sections have been quoted and referenced.
Just looking for a go ahead so the page is not deleted once it is posted again.

- You cannot copy text verbatim from other web sites unless those web sites show an explicit permission to at least a cc-by-sa license on the site, or such formal permission has been received, from the copyright holder, by the Foundation and approved. Suggest you check out the page to get the permission - WP:DCM. When the page gets created an automatic script will test for copyright issues, you need to be sure that the permission has been sorted out. Ronhjones (Talk) 17:13, 14 September 2014 (UTC)

- It needs to be sent through the OTRS system - see WP:DONATEIMAGE for address (use the suggested address for text as the image is here, and not on commons - do include the url of the image in the message). It's been restored for now - you have 30 days to get the permission sorted. Ronhjones (Talk) 17:13, 14 September 2014 (UTC)

Hi Ronhjones, The image which has been deleted "Jude Anthany Joseph.jpg" in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jude_Anthany_Joseph has been provided by the owner in an email with permissions and i had forwarded that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org on March 2014 itself.

- The image was deleted as no OTRS ticket had been added to the image during the 60+ days that the OTRS pending notice had been up (should only take 30 days at best). Did OTRS reply to your e-mail? If so there would be a ticket number in the subject line. Due to a search bug in OTRS since the last upgrade (now fixed for new e-mails), I cannot search for any word >30 characters, which means cannot search for urls! Please e-mail me (link in toolbox on the left) your e-mail address you used and I can try to search OTRS for it. Ronhjones (Talk) 17:13, 12 September 2014 (UTC)
- I've eventually found the ticket (2014032810002128) - they replied to you (16/04/2014 22:24 - insufficient permission) - if you did not receive it, I can re-send it. Ronhjones (Talk) 22:56, 14 September 2014 (UTC)
list of twelve-step groups
Howdy Ronhjones. A experienced editor has proposed to change the standard for inclusion of List of twelve-step groups from being a list of wikipedia articles, to being a list of 12 step groups (without the necessity of having an article attached to the entry). The discussion is currently on the talk page. I am contacting you because you have participated in the maintenance of that article. If you have no opinion, please feel free to disregard this notice. Cheers! Coffeepusher (talk) 05:09, 15 September 2014 (UTC)
- Not for me - I just removed the obvious non notable red links. Ronhjones (Talk) 23:08, 15 September 2014 (UTC)
Hi RonhJones,
You recently protected the page Macedonia (ancient kingdom)
The link below, is the version of the consensus, reached by User:Taivo and User:Stevepeterson
https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Macedonia_(ancient_kingdom)&oldid=625115334
Until it was sneakily changed by User:Gtrbolivar
https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Macedonia_(ancient_kingdom)&oldid=625117854
Gtrbolivar reached no consensus and the warring editors, Taivo and Stevepeterson, reached a consensus for the first link.
Could you please re-instate the version which had been agreed upon until the vandal Gtrbolivar changed it?
Thanks and I look forward to your response and your reversion of this blatant vandalism.
Here is the old id

- When there is edit warring we just protect the article as is - then you can all go away on the talk page and get a full agreement for the next version. There is no deadline in Wikipedia - get the agreement on the content sorted first. Changing now will just re-flame the edit war - I'll have the other side saying there is a bias against them, and they are being ignored. Ronhjones (Talk) 23:14, 15 September 2014 (UTC)
- You are, of course, free to ask for protection removal at WP:RFUP Ronhjones (Talk) 23:17, 15 September 2014 (UTC)
Ronhjones save wikipedia
Dear Ronhjones, Unfortunately wikipedia is becoming a place where vandals, masters of propaganda, ultranationalists who believe in fairy tales and historically ignorant people with hidden agendas are calling the shots. I am sure you are aware of the massive propaganda mechanism of FYROM, a country who desperately tries to steal ancient Greek history in order to create a (false and based on lies and myths) national identity (within the process of nation-building see: Benedict Anderson (Imagined Communities), Ernest Gellner etc).
I never believed that unspeakable and inconcievable fairy tales and monstrous propaganda mecahnisms like these could ever permeate our project, but unfortunately they have. Ridiculous as it may seem, people like this user are trying to impose their personal pseudo-historic, propaganda-driven imagined theories (if you take a look at his user page you're not gonna believe your own eyes) in an encyclopedia with the stature of wikipedia. They have violated all wikipedia rules, common sense, common knowledge and they are trying to sneak into this encyclopedia unbelievable theories with no historical and academic evidence whatsoever. User Taivo, suggested something even more unthinkable and dangerous: In the name of an ill-understood neutrality (as if neutrality means bury the truth, the evidence, the reliable sources, everything) he asks us to hide the truth because it would be painful to the inhabitants of a country (!!!!!) who believe in a ridiculous state-driven propaganda full of pseudo-historic fairy tales. He started a crusade to bury the truth, to remove all the reliable sources (he has blatantly violated Wikipedia:Verifiability and Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources a thousand times) in order to impose his own agenda which obviously gives propaganda a vital space to grow.
According to Taivo we are not allowed to write that Macedonia was an ancient Greek kingdom even if this is a well-known fact backed-up by every distinguished historian, every professor, every world-class university and museum in the world, because it will be hard for the inhabitants of a certain country to read it. Next thing will be to remove the Armenian genocide from wikipedia because the Turks deny it, the Holocaust because the prime minister of Iran, or some Neo-Nazis deny it. According to Taivo and every given Taivo it's not neutral to write that Armenians were slaughtered because (quote): It is offensive to the Turks, so you need to leave your politics at the door." If tomorrow Albanians start advocating that Napoleon was Albanian and not French, we should respect them and not provoke them by writing in wikipedia that Napoleon was French.
So in wikipedia we don't care about the sources, about the evidence, about the truth. We care about creating a propaganda-driven project which buries the reliable sources, disregards the evidence and its own rules in order to create some form of diplomatic decorum and a safe haven for anyone who wants to impose his propaganda by distorting the truth, by removing evidence, by insulting common sense. I am appealing to your education and to your unquestionable integrity. We have to protect and save wikipedia from this upcoming disaster. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and not a place where propaganda and distortion triumphs. I am asking you to give us your input, your point of view. Thank you so much for your attention. PS: I would like to bring this matter to the administrators, to inform as many admins and reliable users of wikipedia as possible. I would like to see a vast partcipation of admins and users who have an interest in history (or contribute in historical articles in wikipedia) in the Talk:Macedonia (ancient kingdom) talk page. Can you help me on this? What should I do? I would like this matter to be presented in a much broader wikipedia audience. Could you assist me on this? Gtrbolivar (talk) 23:59, 15 September 2014 (UTC)
- There is always Wikipedia:WikiProject Greece - maybe you'll find some more like minded editors there. There are only around 1000 active admins, and the vast majority of those will be based in English speaking countries. Looking at who has Greek language userboxes I see...
- One admin (User:Magioladitis) as native
- One admin (User:Future Perfect at Sunrise) as advanced
- One admin (User:Delirium) as intermediate
- Four admins (User:Tkinias), (User:Andres), (User:Papa November), (User:Carlossuarez46) as basic.
- Feel free to try some of those - they may have more interest in the subject as they speak some Greek (I've not wiki-linked them as they would get a notify, I'll let you decide it you want to contact them). Ronhjones (Talk) 01:50, 16 September 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you very much, I would like to see your input and your comments in the Talk:Macedonia (ancient kingdom) talk page. Sorry for all the inconvenience, but admins like yourself are essential to matters of such importance. I really appreciate your attention and your immediate response. Was surprised to see this being deleted for "F4: Lack of licensing information" overnight, because I remember explicitly adding a Geograph attribution tag to it. Looking back at a cached version it's clearly presented as CC-Attribution-Sharealike 2.0 with a named photographer and a link to their Geograph page. Was it still missing something? --McGeddon (talk) 07:57, 12 September 2014 (UTC)
- Doh! Looks like that was one bad delete (out of 500 last night...). I'm still not sure why it got tagged - I see it was the automatic script, which I have not known to make mistakes before, I can only assume that the script does not recognise the geograph template you used (I think it's fairly new). Sorry for that, I've restored the image and it's article placement. I'll leave a note with the bot owner. Ronhjones (Talk) 10:28, 12 September 2014 (UTC)
- @User:McGeddon That Geograph template has now been added to the bots approved list. Such tagging errors should not occur again. Ronhjones (Talk) 15:09, 16 September 2014 (UTC)
- Good to hear it! Thanks for taking a look. --McGeddon (talk) 15:27, 16 September 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for the help!
Thanks for deleting the file that I had marked without source - I just happened to notice the talkpage was still there: File_talk:R.c.dutt.jpg can you delete it too? Kind regards, Deadstar (talk) 08:15, 17 September 2014 (UTC)
- No problem, one I missed (again!) Ronhjones (Talk) 15:25, 17 September 2014 (UTC)
