- Thanks - WP:AIV does say "The user must have been given enough warnings to stop their disruptive behavior." - sadly there are some editors who ignore that, often tagging after a new user's first edit. Ronhjones (Talk) 19:46, 2 October 2013 (UTC)

Regarding editing history of 'Sahotas' band page
Hi Ronhjones,
The band history for 'Sahotas' is available at their official website, and I believe it was the person managing their website who originally added the content to wiki. I edited it to make it neutral and non-promotional in outlook. Here's the link for their official page:
http://www.transum.org/sahotas/Biography.asp
I leave it to you to fix it, unless you have reasons to believe an official artist website is not a credible source. Sahotas is a very old Bhangra Music band and I grew up listening to their music. I believe their website to be a credible source. Else, even my official website managed by myself will not be a credible source about me. In other words, I won't be credible.
There's no point in me re-editing for you to re-delete. I have a busy schedule and I assure you I only edited the page yesterday, and am writing this message today, when I am taking a break from my own work-flow, just to refresh my creativity.
It's your call mate for you've deleted something! I didn't delete anything, but only added to the knowledge.
Sincerely, Fatal Urge Carefree Kiss, http://www.fatalurgecarefreekiss.com — Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.171.141.23 (talk) 00:46, 3 October 2013 (UTC)
- If you add the content then you add the reference - it's a simple system. You need to add the content and the reference - I can't do it for your as that would make the attribution incorrect. Ronhjones (Talk) 19:13, 3 October 2013 (UTC)

Example This was the information obtained from the internet search. It can be seen that Example2 has the same type of tables which have no reference/citation, but it is true. They are not vandalizing. The information present here can be verified in the internet. And most of my edits, those which have been reverted are 'tables provinding information'. I request you to check some of the previous edits which have been reverted even though i had cited original source. Blocked for editing?
Hi, there, I work at a school in California, and noticed some errors, mostly grammatical, on Wikipedia. Today, for instance, I found a web entry pertaining to Greek Mythology, which said that Aphrodite was from "an earlier generation than Zeus," when, in fact, she is supposed to be his daughter. I then tried to log in with my Wikipedia account but could not do it from this computer. Can you please unblock this IP address? Please advise. Thanks, Karen163.150.21.231 (talk) 18:02, 8 November 2013 (UTC)
- ???? The IP address you used (163.150.21.231) is obviously not blocked as you managed to write on this page! Is there another account you were trying to use? Ronhjones (Talk) 19:21, 8 November 2013 (UTC)
Welcome back? (and copyright query)
Gooday Ron - I hope everything is now well as I notice the bad SSD announcement is no longer present (my old computer is struggling with today's data-loads but I have so much on it I'd be stuffed without it...)
I have been supplied by email images from a site administrator under CC-BY-SA 3.0. One of these is a .jpg of an historic telegram stamped as 1962. It carries the government 'Crown' symbol between the words "POST" and "OFFICE" with "TELEGRAM" directly underneath. Would reproduction of this document and/or symbol be a problem, and/or should there be a maximum size? I don't have any suitable software to 'clone-out' the crown logo itself.
It's not essential but I feel it would give 'added value' to the intended (existing) article.
Thanks--Rocknrollmancer (talk) 23:37, 6 November 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks - that's the second SSD (on different PCs) I've managed to goose :-(. Maybe the power to this village is a bit spiky? The lights do flash at least once a week. I did revive it (the partition table was trashed), but all efforts to get any data off (with special software) often found "invalid cluster number for file start). I'm not impressed with SSDs now - so gone back to rotating drive, 1TB WD black (so it boots up 15 seconds slower - big deal - the rest is an Scan.co.uk overclocked i7 with 32GB RAM...) - so restored Windoze from a saved image and all is OK (thanks for True Image!).
- I assume the crown means it's UK (or "related" country - Canada, etc.). Crown Copyright lasts just 50 years from creation, so something dated 1962, went into Public Domain at 1st Jan 2013 (lucky you!) - see Wikipedia:Non-US_copyrights#UK_Copyright. The crown logo can therefore stay - not a problem. If UK telegram then I suggest use Template:PD-BritishGov. Ronhjones (Talk) 00:21, 7 November 2013 (UTC)
- If New Zealand - then forget it - Crown Copyright is 100 years. Ronhjones (Talk) 00:21, 7 November 2013 (UTC)
- OK, thanks. I've had a quick look at the template (in use). The telegram is Leicester, England to Douglas, IOM (at TT time) which theoretically is non-Crown territory however I've checked the form used against Google images and it's standard British, I guess they used standard format in as much as their respective communication systems interfaced, so maybe I worked around that anomaly? Cheers.--Rocknrollmancer (talk) 21:20, 8 November 2013 (UTC)
- Isle of Man is a Crown Dependency (and about 60 miles from where I work - but water all the way!) - I see no issue with that, it will still be Royal Mail. IOM will use most of the UK laws - well the ones it likes :-) I doubt if there is a separate copyright law, I think it will still be Crown Copyright (expired) Ronhjones (Talk) 23:13, 8 November 2013 (UTC)

- Tricky. Sri_Lanka does not have the wide freedom of panorama like UK and India commons:commons:Freedom_of_panorama#Sri_Lanka, so a plaque here cannot be automatically used in Wikipedia - it's like a sculpture, someone will have created that plaque. Whether or not one could claim a license of {{PD-textlogo}} is not clear as I cannot read the text - it may be some copyrighted text as well - I've no idea. If you wish to try to restore it - it will have to go to Wikipedia:Deletion review for more input from people who can read the text and see if there is any copyright issues. Thomas mansfield
Hi there!
I understand your negative review for Thomas mansfield, and this was added a month ago. This time it was added and I used other company profiles on wiki that have been accepted, such as slater and Gordon (another law firm, that has run of the mill information), And I'm not sure what this profile is lacking in comparison.
The company as I mentioned, has some confusion about its services online, and we feel a wiki page would be beneficial for users to get an idea of the success of the company and it's services. The content has been written by someone who isn't employed by Thomas Mansfield, nor have I used their services. But there are plenty of business profiles on wiki that are useful for users, and I'm struggling to see how this one is any different.
Please could you point me in the right direction and I can adjust this as necessary. Thanks for your input so far. Leanne — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thomasmansfield1 (talk • contribs) 23:40, 14 November 2013 (UTC)
- I've looked at both versions - there's probably more content is the deleted one - except for the two small paragraphs on the two people. It may well even qualify for deletion as WP:CSD#G4 (Recreation of material deleted via a deletion discussion) due to similarity, but I've given you the benefit of the doubt and allowed a week's discussion. Feel free to add you thoughts on the discussion page Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Thomas Mansfield (2nd nomination). The comments made on the origianl discussion Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Thomas Mansfield are probably still valid. Adding a business is one of the most difficult type of pages to add - there are millions of businesses that would love a Wikipedia page, but very few get one. If it gets deleted and you wish to re-try then I would recommend going via WP:AfC - direct creation of a business is just too difficult in this day and age. (NB: Deleted pages may be WP:USERFIED on request, to start again.) Ronhjones (Talk) 23:56, 14 November 2013 (UTC)

Unconstructive contribution to BLP
Gooday Ron - please could you look at the unconstructive revisions to the lead of the subject page starting from this IP address [1]
I couldn't figure out at first where I'd originally seen the prose. The main section (starting: "Much has been said of the Mayor..") has been copy/pasted from original prose added from another IP address here.
Whereas previously it was lost in the general melee of just one section in a lengthy article - HERE - they really shouldn't be spoiling BLP with unsourced conjecture and POV pasted prominently into the lead. Poor contributions and vandalism from IP addresses and some red usernames occasionally happens to this BLP, but are mostly picked up by patrollers. I could have reverted myself with a note to the user talk page, but thought I'd annotate it with you now in case some future protection is needed. Thanks, Steve.--Rocknrollmancer (talk) 12:21, 19 November 2013 (UTC)
- Highly suspicious, I agree. Reverted (unsourced BLP) and warned the IP. Both are static IPs - one looks like a land line and the other is a mobile - both UK, so one could postulate they are the same person with an obvious POV. Ronhjones (Talk) 17:48, 19 November 2013 (UTC)

Hello you have deleted my page by wrong reasons Our breed is relatively new but has got his own history sins the basic was built in 1971
therefor there is a bit of history which is the same but we have the right to share our own information.
Look at the letter from the UKC we have the right to share our information and history http://members.boardhost.com/LBA/msg/1377898850.top There is or was no copy right in my page that we as Leavitt Bulldog Association not own. Please see the links in my previous deleted page and you see we are a breed of our own sins 2006 So therefor I ask you to change it back for me https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Leavitt_Bulldog&action=edit&redlink=1

- Simple - since 1996 and URAA, copyright protection has been automatically given to any published work. By default that protection is "All Rights Reserved". Unless the web site shows an explicit copyright release of CC-BY-SA or less strict or the copyright owner formally releases the copyright to the same degree (either will do they have the exact same effect of allowing the web site content to be used anywhere in the world for any purpose, so long as the CC-BY-SA license is followed), then the material cannot be included in Wikipedia as all content here is available for re-use under the CC-BY-SA license. More information can be found at WP:DCM and HTML code for web sites can be obtained at http://creativecommons.org/choose/ (only CC-BY or CC-BY-SA are suitable). - I already looked at your site - and saw the footer. That footer does not release the copyright for our use. You could be anyone - all editors are technically anonymous, within these pages you cannot in any way prove you hold the copyright. Hence we have the advice page at WP:DCM - change that web site footer to a CC-BY-SA logo and all will be OK - e.g. put this in your footer
<a rel="license" href="http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/"> <img alt="Creative Commons Licence" style="border-width:0" src="http://i.creativecommons.org/l/by-sa/4.0/88x31.png" /> </a><br />This work is licensed under a <a rel="license" href="http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/"> Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License</a>.

I see you deleted The North Face (disambiguation) as; G6: Obviously unnecessary disambiguation page. It was not a disambiguation page it was a redirect to a disambiguation page that is the result of a move. Just wondering why you deleted it. GB fan 15:32, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
- There was a speedy F6 request, and it wasn't linked to by any pages. Free free to re-instate if you think it's a necessary redirect. Ronhjones (Talk) 15:41, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
- I don't have an opinion on whether it is a useful redirect, I do have an opinion on admins who delete pages out of process. GB fan 17:11, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
- rv - obviously "non controversial" so F6 does not apply - I'll restore and suggest MfD Ronhjones (Talk) 20:20, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
Big Chief Mkuja
Hi. I believe you were the supervisor who presided over the deletion of the above page. I have requested it to be undeleted on the grounds that not enough time was given for pro arguments to be stated and the fact that at least 2 of the criteria for music notability were met. This was not even discussed. I am not sure of the proceedures here on wiki perhaps you could advise me further. Thankyou Kahuna Dreaming — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kahouna Dreaming (talk • contribs) 12:29, 11 December 2013 (UTC)
NO response?— Preceding unsigned comment added by Kahouna Dreaming (talk • contribs) 22:54, December 15, 2013 (UTC)
- Very, very odd. I still don't know what went wrong with this one. I was using a list of pages that needed closing and for some reason it was included. You are certainly entitled to a full discussion, so I've rolled back my close and added a relist to the deletion discussion to give a full (I hope) 7 days). Thanks
Thanks for stepping in on the IP who keeps going after the Charles Wang article, and now went after me. I see the block on the IP is for only 31 hours - what happens if the IP address fluctuates again, and/or if further personal attacks come my way? I feel like I'm having a hard time figuring out how and where to report this, and advice is appreciated. Also curious what prompted your block - was it a report that I submitted somewhere, or something else? (I'd like to know so if it happens again...) Echoedmyron (talk) 00:19, 17 December 2013 (UTC)
- As I said - he keeps IP hopping, so long blocks are useless - he cannot edit Charles Wang any more - if you get repeated attacks on your talk page I can semi-protect it for a month or two. Ronhjones (Talk) 13:53, 17 December 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks, Ron - will let you know if there's an issue. Echoedmyron (talk) 15:23, 17 December 2013 (UTC)
Technical error (bug) + Creative Commons query
Gooday Ron - I wanted to correct the political-control infobox entry in Nottinghamshire and similar associated pages away from Conservative, but Template:English county control used as {-{English county control|CTY=Nottinghamshire}-} is corrupted, returning the target as .
The authority changed from Con to Lab in May 2013; looking at the diffs, several attempts were made (and I guess abandoned) to manually correct and/or enter the new detail back in May. Could you please advise - no urgency.
ALSO - is CC-BY-NC 2.0 (only, no other license applied) still unacceptable on Wikimedia? Thanks, Steve -- Rocknrollmancer (talk) 09:01, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
- It's not obvious, but it's all hidden at Template:English county control - just click edit and all will be revealed!
- Wikipedia will always be CC-BY-SA as a maximum - that means that no NC and no ND, or more simply, "public domain", "CC-zero", "CC-BY" and "CC-BY-SA" are the only licenses we allow.
- Hope that helps. Ronhjones (Talk) 14:05, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks. 1. Simples! I've done one, I'll check the other counties when I get the chance.
2. It's a great shame that so many images are languishing hidden away on sites like Flickr due to 'wrong' licensing...and ironic that Wikimedia policy will allow non-other than free use for all, forever. Few - if any - commercial organisations will make potentially-valuable images available on that basis whereas it could be that use on Wikipedia-only might be entertained. Although the multi-license permutations would promote confusion, so I guess it would be untenable. It's the Wiki Commons aspect stuffing things up, so we end up - especially when trying for historic images - with low-res, often amateur-quality or nothing. I even had one chap suggesting I buy one for a few squid, which, of course, cannot be feasible due to future free-use. 8~)
I'll come back if I may for advice on commercialism, I just need to do a bit more local research into the problem area.--Rocknrollmancer (talk) 22:39, 17 December 2013 (UTC)
- No problem, always happy to help. The trouble with Flickr is that it defaults to "All Rights Reserved" - and does not really suggest any other option - it's there in small print, it would be nice if Flickr popped up a message explaining the usefulness of alternative licenses. Ronhjones (Talk) 23:01, 17 December 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks. 1. Simples! I've done one, I'll check the other counties when I get the chance.
Deletion of "Laravel (framework)" article
Hello there! Could you, please, explain why Laravel (framework) article was deleted, despite the fact it was edited today beyond being a plain "copy & paste" from another web page? Just checking, did you have a look at the deleted article's talk page, describing the edits performed today? Of course, I'm more than open for further discussion. Thank you! — Dsimic (talk) 00:36, 16 December 2013 (UTC)

- You can use the web site as a sources of data, but it must be completely reworded - a close paraphrase is not acceptable. Ronhjones (Talk) 00:39, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
- Thank you for responding so quickly! Well, it wasn't me creating this article, I'm just advocating after doing a few edits to it today. I'm totally with you, but many articles are based on paraphrasing their sources... I can't pull a few such titles right now, but if we were so strict, at least 15% of all Wikipedia's articles could be deleted straight away.
- Please allow me to ask again, did you check this article after the latest edits? — Dsimic (talk) 00:55, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
- Oh yes. The copyvio template causes it to be listed at Category:Candidates_for_speedy_deletion_as_copyright_violations#Pages_in_category. I click the link on that page and see the current page, which was 3 hours after the last edit - then we use the automatic duplicate detector to compare the two pages - in this case three lots. There are plenty of WP articles that probably do need deletion or re-writing. Ronhjones (Talk) 01:05, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
- Had it been a bigger article I would have removed the offending bits, but in this case it would have decimated it. Ronhjones (Talk) 01:06, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
- Thank you for a detailed explanation, I had to ask. :) Hopefully the original author will come back with a reworked article. Btw, are those duplicate detectors publicly accessible? — Dsimic (talk) 01:11, 16 December 2013 (UTC)

@Ronhjones: How about undeleting the Laravel (framework) article, please? I'm willing to do a complete rephrase of the content that was available there, in a few hours upon undeletion. Please advise. — Dsimic (talk) 22:06, 17 December 2013 (UTC)
- Oh no - the history is still a copyright violation, and although it's not immediately visible, it means that others can view it. I suggest create from scratch with exactly the same name - then let me know and I will undelete the old versions underneath it, then immediately hide all the revision texts - thus we leave a list of contributors. Sound fair? Ronhjones (Talk) 23:05, 17 December 2013 (UTC)

Hey there, you just recently deleted the article WEXAS. The reason you gave as follows: "Expired PROD, concern was: Non-notable company. No evidence of awards or in depth coverage in independent reliable sources.". I was trying to find the expired deletion discussion, but wasnt successful. Could you help me out? Best --PaulBommel (talk) 16:51, 18 December 2013 (UTC)
- Anyone can suggest a WP:PROD - there is no discussion. However anyone else who does not agree just removes the PROD banner. If after 7 days, the banner is still there, then it is assumed that no-one objects. Deletions by PROD may be undone on request, but it's possible that the original PRODer might then go for a full deletion discussion - that's up to them. If you want it undeleted, let me know. Alternatively I can move it to a sub page of your user name as a draft article, if you wish to improve it. Ronhjones (Talk) 20:16, 18 December 2013 (UTC)
- Thank you for your answer. I would like it to be undeleted, because I dont think the article was too bad to be shown to the world. Nevertheless it needs some work to be done to it, which I will try to do soon. I would also add some sources then. Best --PaulBommel (talk) 11:49, 20 December 2013 (UTC)

good morning I noticed the other day that the page about me had been marked for deletion Although It was not me that put the page up in the first place I was flattered. It was brought to my attention n tuesday that it was marked for deletion and I attempted to update it myself I then noticed today that it has been deleted by you. Would you be so kind as to let me know how it can be reinstated please 185.6.5.5 (talk) 10:45, 12 December 2013 (UTC)
- Simple - If you can create an account then I can save it as a sub page of that account name as a draft article for improvement. Note your should not use your own name as a user name if you are going to edit it - try to have a user name that suggests nothing - see Wikipedia:Username policy. See also WP:AUTOBIOGRAPHY as well. Or find some one else to edit. I just need to know the username to restore it. Ronhjones (Talk) 21:43, 12 December 2013 (UTC)
i didnt realise it could be done that way i am really not very good at these sort of things . How can i bring it back to look at what it said though help please — Preceding unsigned comment added by 185.6.5.5 (talk) 14:38, 20 December 2013 (UTC)
- Well, I've restored it for now - but I suspect that someone will soon tag it for a full deletion discussion. Ronhjones (Talk) 20:41, 20 December 2013 (UTC)
- First I suggest that 185.6.5.5 who states in his post here that he is the subject of the article read WP:COI. It is not appropriate to edit the article about yourself and when doing so it is policy to disclose the conflict of interest. That said I respect and support anonymity on WP and believe each edit should be evaluated on it's merits.
- Second do you really think this article needs an AfD? I propose speedy deletion per WP:A7. The only suggestion of keeping the article comes from it's subject. If you think it warrants I will use AfD instead. Thanks for your contributions. - - MrBill3 (talk) 05:48, 21 December 2013 (UTC)
- I did put the link to WP:AUTOBIOGRAPHY which is more thorough - and has links to COI. As a disputed PROD, I would suggest AfD - I don't see it remaining without some serious work - but an AfD decision is more final - remember anyone (except the creator) can remove a speedy - as they were not the creator, they can do that. Ronhjones (Talk) 15:08, 21 December 2013 (UTC)
- Well, I've restored it for now - but I suspect that someone will soon tag it for a full deletion discussion. Ronhjones (Talk) 20:41, 20 December 2013 (UTC)

I noticed that you just deleted lots of unsourced files on my watchlist. Did you notice that the backlog is greater than indicated at CAT:CSD? That page only lists the first 10 days, and some very old files haven't been deleted (possibly because the deleting admins only checked CAT:CSD). If you are planning to take a look at more unsourced files, please also check the earlier daily categories in Category:Wikipedia files with unknown source. --Stefan2 (talk) 19:02, 26 December 2013 (UTC)

Just Asking Why
I just want to ask why you deleted the page Tagum National Trade School, it was an unfinished page and was deleted without prior notice or enough reason. That school is a pioneering school of the Philippines' K-12 Program, its was actually making a history in the Philippines and would be more informative the Philippines is the only country in Asia with 10 years basic education. That school school is making its name in the country already. Markimatix (talk) 16:51, 27 December 2013 (UTC)
- As the deletion log says "Unambiguous copyright infringement of http://tradeanrepublic.tumblr.com/" - you cannot use web content, unless it has been explicitly released to at least CC-BY-SA - See WP:DCM Ronhjones (Talk) 02:28, 28 December 2013 (UTC)
I did not use the web content, it so happened that the site http://tradeanrepublic.tumblr.com/ and the page Tagum National Trade School particularly the Vision, Mission and Goal, have the same sources and it is the School's Handbook. I can scan the handbook for you so you can check that I did not copy any of those from this http://tradeanrepublic.tumblr.com/. Thank you Markimatix (talk) 03:18, 28 December 2013 (UTC)

I hope you will bring/give back the page, I can still do much editing and revision on it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Markimatix (talk • contribs) 10:23, 28 December 2013 (UTC)
- It does not matter where the material comes come - if it's been published anywhere before then it's a copyright violation.
- Links 1 and 2 has no release - not suitable
- Link 3 says "Copyright © 2013 EDGE Davao. All Rights Reserved" - not suitable
- Link 4 says "© Copyright 2013 Scribd Inc." - not suitable.
- I doubt if the school handbook will have an explicit copyright release suitable for Wikipedia - you will have to get the school to release that copyright using the procedure at WP:DCM. It would be far easier to completely re-write the page. Ronhjones (Talk) 12:50, 28 December 2013 (UTC)
Of course the links has copyright issues, many sources/links in wikipedia also has copyright issues, what I am trying to say is the existence of the school and reasons why it should be on the wikipedia, other school like https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tagum_City_National_High_School is here already. What can I do to make it possible to build the page then? Markimatix (talk) 00:01, 29 December 2013 (UTC)
- You are welcome to use any data - but you cannot use it word for word or even a close paraphrase - It is not permitted, you have to completely re-write the text. There are automated scripts edits to see if they match with existing web text - copyright violations will be found and deleted. Ronhjones (Talk) 14:32, 28 December 2013 (UTC)
Sir, I cannot do paraphrasing on Vision, Mission and Goal of the school because we are not allowed to do so. It is like encoding here the US National Anthem, of course we cannot rephrase the the anthem because that is how it is written, they are on the same boat. Vision, Mission, and Goal cannot be rephrased. Markimatix (talk) 00:01, 29 December 2013 (UTC)
I can rewrite the school's history but Vision, Mission and Goal they're permanent. I find this really hard to explain to you because it seems like you have closed your doors from others opinion and reasons like mine. I am also afraid to build it again for you might just delete it without us defending the page. Markimatix (talk) 00:03, 29 December 2013 (UTC)
- It's not my view - it's the policy WP:COPYOTHERS - we cannot use material that is a word for word copy without it being properly released to at least CC-BY-SA. If I don't delete it there's 1000 other admins who will - we all use the same policy. If you want the text exactly as published then there must be a form of explicit release from the person/organisation that wrote that text - it's all explained at WP:DCM. If copyright holder won't give that permission then you cannot ever use it. Ronhjones (Talk) 01:25, 29 December 2013 (UTC)
Then you all should have deleted it way way before, that page has existed before I edited the "Administration and Principal" section, is this mean that you weren't able to see that page if I didn't edited it? Is this mean that there are lots and lots of pages here in wikipedia where you were not able to delete or even see, which still has copyright issues? You will not able to see it if I didn't edited it. I think it will not be deleted if I didn't edited it and you will not discover it if I didn't edited it. Thank you for explaining anywayMarkimatix (talk) 05:18, 29 December 2013 (UTC)
Sir, I have read the recent posts by other user about the page that you deleted and eventually you restored it. I don't know what went wrong in 'ME' when you just deleted Tagum National Trade School and never at least putting a tag 'subject for deletion'. I should have at least knew the reason so I can remove whatever copyrights that has been there. You were generous into others yet not to me. We are on the same grounds, yet you gave chances to some and others like me aren't. Markimatix (talk) 07:15, 29 December 2013 (UTC)
- I did not tag it. If there is a problem with the initial speedy request, you can take that up with the person who placed the speedy delete tag on the page. From the file history...

Sydney Uni Lions
Ronhjones, I have no idea why you have the ability to remove the Sydney Uni Lions page but can you please put it back up. I do not have the time to seek to unravel the pathetic jargon-babble world that has been created here on Wikipedia but it seems ridiculous that some git in the UK gets to decide whether the information on our site is "promotional" and, therefore, should be deleted. Sure, American football is not a big sport in Australia, but the information on the page was all accurate and informative for those of us down under with an interest in the game. If you were actually remotely competent, it would be the easiest thing to verify the information on the site through the University of Sydney, Sydney Uni Sport & Fitness or Gridiron New South Wales. Or why not make contact with our club, you pompous bastard? We have a website too. You could send us an email. Heard of those? Surely you could be doing something better with your life than removing genuine information from Wikipedia? Is this what you dreamed your life's work would be? I do not know why this has got me so annoyed but the idea that someone so incompetent gets to arbitrarily determine what information is available in the public domain is somehow very galling. Please do not hesitate to message me back if you think you can explain yourself. I know your ability with google and those other tricky search engines must be limited, so just type "www.sydneyunigridiron.com" straight into your search bar to find our website and then send an email to the club. Unlike you, I will at least read what you have to say before taking this further. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 123.243.19.45 (talk) 17:52, 1 January 2014 (UTC)
- I did not ask for deletion - See Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Sydney Uni Lions - I cannot undelete it, without it going for a full deletion review Ronhjones (Talk) 17:58, 1 January 2014 (UTC)
Your name is given as the deletion reference. I frankly do not care about the pseudo-protocol issues. If you cannot undelete it without going for a full deletion review, then you will have to go for a full deletion review. Please let me know what information you need to reverse this cock-up. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 123.243.19.45 (talk) 18:05, 1 January 2014 (UTC)
I followed the "deletion review" link. There is no way I can successfully follow that procedure. This is worse than anything Kafka ever envisaged. It is laughable that an institution so worthy has been so corrupted. Hang your head in shame. If you have any sense of fair play, then please initiate the full deletion review procedure. I am happy to provide any information as necessary in plain english. I am not able to jump through the stupendous hoops Wikipedia appears to have deliberately thrown up to protect its information Star Chamber. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 123.243.19.45 (talk) 18:19, 1 January 2014 (UTC)
Earth to Ronhjones. Earth to Ronhjones. Come in, Ronhjones. Clarifying that you did not ask for deletion was not helpful. Telling me that you cannot undelete the page without it going for a full deletion review was not helpful. Wikipedia creating its deletion review procedure was certainly not helpful. Are you able to help?
- Choices...
- I start a del rev in your name - you need to specify which one of the five choices at WP:DRVPURPOSE applies, and give me a reason to ask for undeletion.
- The page gets userfied as a sub page draft of an existing user - I see User:Aussiegriff started the page - it can certainly be made a sub page of that user if desired. Note that if that is done, and then moved to article space without enough improvements to quash the arguments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Sydney Uni Lions, then it becomes liable for speedy deletion as a page similar to a deleted page. Alternatively one can put the draft through WP:AfC to prevent speedy deletion after improvements.
- Ronhjones (Talk) 22:59, 1 January 2014 (UTC)
Ronhjones, thanks for the choices.
Please start a del rev in my name. Presumably the article was deleted following a deletion discussion (rather than as a result of speedy deletion), in which case the DRVPURPOSE choice which applies would appear to be that the closer of the deletion discussion interpreted the consensus incorrectly or that there was substantial procedural error. Contrary to WP:GNG, the major stakeholders were never notified of the proposed deletion or given time to respond. Paul McDonald wondered in the deletion discussion whether the club was a "club" or a "university club" but failed to work out that the Sydney Uni Lions is the team entered by the Sydney University American Football Club in Division One of Gridiron New South Wales, and that the Sydney University American Football Club is a constituent member of Sydney Uni Sport & Fitness, the body which administers all sporting activities at the University of Sydney. There is no excuse for not having worked this out as this information was set out in the article. Here is a link to the club page on the Sydney Uni Sport & Fitness website (http://www.susf.com.au/page/american_football.html). Sydney Uni Sport & Fitness is the most successful sporting body in Australia. If it was a country, it would have beaten Mexico at the recent London Olympics. The American Football Club was awarded "Club of the Year" by Sydney Uni Sport & Fitness for 2012. That was the fourth time in its 30 year history that it has received the award. The closer of the deletion discussion failed to notify the University of Sydney, Sydney Uni Sport & Fitness or the Sydney University American Football Club of the proposed deletion of the article. Further, the reason given for deleting the article in the discussion - that the topic has not been the subject of significant coverage in reliable sources - is erroneous. The topic in the article has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject for over 30 years. I can provide scanned copies of various newspaper articles, if necessary. The information in the article spans the 30 year history of the club, so it is unsurprising that current newspaper articles do not mention some aspects of the topic. Most recently, a report on the Sydney Uni Lions winning the 2013 National Club Championship was published in Roar Magazine (circulation of 50,000). The recent 2013 GNSW championship game won by the Sydney Uni Lions was webcast live and seen all over the world. I would argue that this is significant coverage in a reliable source that was independent of the subject. So reliable that you could verify it with your own eyes. In any event, if the closer of the deletion discussion (whoever that was) needs me to place the evidence of the significant coverage of the Sydney Uni LIons directly into his hands, then I am happy to do so.
I am afraid you have lost me on your second point. I do not understand what "put the draft through WP:AfC means". I can contact "User: AussieGriff" to check that he is happy for the page to be made a sub page draft under his user identification but I am reluctant for the article to be liable for speedy deletion. If your last effort was not speedy deletion, then I would hate to see speedy deletion. Also, in my view the problem is not in the article but in the process followed (or not followed) in the alleged deletion discussion. It seems a misnomer to call what occurred a "discussion". With all due respect, it also seems patently absurd that a constituent club of a major university which has just won a national championship has to justify its existence to a couple of boffins who are trying to read the tea leaves from the other side of the world. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 123.243.19.45 (talk) 01:37, 2 January 2014 (UTC)
- Deletion Review started for you at Wikipedia:Deletion_review/Log/2014_January_2#Sydney_Uni_Lions Ronhjones (Talk) 02:25, 2 January 2014 (UTC)
Thank you for starting the deletion review. I have no idea whether that was the best "choice" to make as I just do not understand the other process (or the deletion review for that matter). I have contacted Aussiegriff and he is happy for the page to get userfied (really, the language down here is appalling). Equally, I am happy to create a user id so it can be "userfied" to my identification. However, my suspicion is that I have passed through the looking glass into a fantasy world where I will just be wasting my time trying to convince the Mad Hatter with my real world logic. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 123.243.19.45 (talk) 04:53, 2 January 2014 (UTC)

Hello Ron, is moving the article to WP:AFC an option? Hack (talk) 08:15, 2 January 2014 (UTC)
- That (to me) if effectively the same as userfy. When I userfy an article I always add a {{userspace draft}} to the top of the restored article - that has a link to submit to AfC. It's just another route to the same process. Ronhjones (Talk) 19:34, 3 January 2014 (UTC)
SAP Enterprise Services Architecture deletion
I have just noticed that the article SAP Enterprise Services Architecture has been deleted. The specified reason was "Non-notable company". I don't think is a valid reason, as per SAP AG:
SAP AG is a German multinational software corporation that makes enterprise software to manage business operations and customer relations. Headquartered in Walldorf, Baden-Württemberg, Germany, with regional offices around the world, SAP is the leader in the market of enterprise applications in terms of software and software-related service.
The company's best-known software products are its enterprise resource planning application systems and management (SAP ERP), its enterprise data warehouse product – SAP Business Warehouse (SAP BW), SAP BusinessObjects software, and most recently, Sybase mobile products and in-memory computing appliance SAP HANA. SAP is one of the largest software companies in the world.
SAP AG is clearly a notable company, so this article should not have been deleted. Are all the other Category:SAP AG articles going to be deleted too? Peter Campbell 09:32, 3 January 2014 (UTC)
- It was a WP:PROD deletion - and as you dispute that - then I'm free to restore it in full. If the proposer of deletion does not agree then it will now have to go for a full WP:AfD deletion process. It does need more references in order to be fully safe to remain - I would guess it may well be notable enough - but it needs to be shown. Ronhjones (Talk) 19:32, 3 January 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks for restoring the article. I will add some more references, and put a copy in my userspace. Peter Campbell 01:31, 4 January 2014 (UTC)

Image requests
Hi... I have been working on the captodative effect page, which was a class project that was left with some work needing doing. I have added a new image (File:2plus2 cyclodimerisation and intramolecular cyclisation of captodative olefins.jpg) but don't have the software access at the moment to draw a decent SVG image. Would you be able to upload a replacement? If you are feeling enthusiastic, I also mentioned some image issues here and some were raised here relating to the same article. Redrawing and / or renaming, mostly, and any help would be appreciated. Thanks. EdChem (talk) 14:52, 8 January 2014 (UTC)
- Yes, I can do that image for you - I'll have a look later tonight (no guarantee I finish it that quick!). Renaming - I'm a commons admin as well as and admin here - just let me know what you what renamed and to what. Ronhjones (Talk) 20:00, 8 January 2014 (UTC)
- Not that tricky - I've let Accelrys do the hard work - like the radicals, and I've been consistent with SMe throughout - rather than SMe and SCH3. I always do a pdf first (I usually miss something) for approval - http://www.ronjones.org.uk/chem/ Let me know if you want anything tweaked or changed. Ronhjones (Talk) 20:38, 8 January 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks... there is one major issue, the radical dot in the middle structure of the bottom line is in the wrong place. It's my fault, not yours, I have corrected the diagram I uploaded. If you look at the way I drew it originally and you have it now, the ring-closure radical-radical recombination would lead to a cyclopropane structure. As a more minor issue, I would remove the 'C' labels from the radicals and make the dots larger and not in the line of a bond, or they can be hard to see. Does that seem sensible to you? Thanks. EdChem (talk) 09:00, 9 January 2014 (UTC)

On renaming, I think File:General Reaction Scheme.png might be better as something like "Reaction of thiophenoxide radical with substituted acrylonitrile.png"
File:Resonance contributors of 2-(dimethylamino)propanenitrile.jpg should probably be "Resonance contributors of 2-(dimethylamino)propanenitrile radical.jpg"
Not quite sure about File:Solvent Affinity effects of substituents.jpg and File:Polar effect.jpg
File:New Transition State.png might be better as something like "Transition states with different substituted acrylonitriles reacted with the thiophenoxide radical.png"
File:Diels Alder.png might be better as something like "Diels-Alder reaction of cyclopentadiene with 2-methylthioacrylonitrile.png"
File:Friedel Craft Reaction.png might be better as something like "Friedel-Crafts reaction of benzene with 1-nitrovinyl alcohol.png"
Many of these would be better re-drawn as SVGs without labels, etc, but renaming to clearer and easier to categorise names would be helpful. Many Thanks. EdChem (talk) 09:14, 9 January 2014 (UTC)
- OK, same web directory - look at V2 - Accelrys will only do radicals one way, seems no choice, c'ést la vie - so I went back to plain C (which hides) and added a Symbol font blob at 18pt (Text is Ariel at 10pt) - how does that look?
- I'll do the renames for you next Ronhjones (Talk) 20:43, 9 January 2014 (UTC)
- Renames went OK (I do love the way that commons replaces all the image links in the articles, saves a lot of work!). That's left redirects - I assume you'll want those deleted? Ronhjones (Talk) 20:51, 9 January 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks for the renames, and I'm glad the scripts helped with the image links. I can't see any use for the redirects, but I'm happy to defer to your experience on whether there is any point in keeping them.
On V2, thanks for the changes, the radicals are now on the correct atoms in the intramolecular case. I would probably have chosen smaller blobs, but that's a small point. There is a problem with the first line, though, the radicals have moved and they were in the correct places in V1, positioned for the ring-closure to the cyclobutane product, i.e.:
NC–*C(SMe)–CH2–CH2–*C(SMe)–CN not NC–CH(SMe)–*CH–*CH–CH(SMe)–CN.
EdChem (talk) 00:01, 12 January 2014 (UTC)
- Doh! How did I do that? OK, I'll move the blobs and reduce then from 18pt to 16pt, and upload to commons. Redirects - I'll check them and if unused (I suspect they are) I will delete. Ronhjones (Talk) 00:08, 12 January 2014 (UTC)

Edit warring/gaming from IP address
Gooday Ron - I have a problem with a specific 'editor' (used very loosely, not a contributor) who seems to be surveilling me and/or some of the pages I am involved in who has a problem with me regarding sourcing of contributions and is intent on sniping and gaming. I have reverted the blanking-out here on a BLP and sent another message (this time copious) with a record of interference to the IP address talk page (previous being December also relating to November) here. If this should continue what would be the best way to deal with it?
You have previously been involved in same BLP page (different IP address) here Thx--Rocknrollmancer (talk) 00:37, 8 January 2014 (UTC)
- Someone with an axe to grind on the Tony_Egginton page, methinks. The phone in the car is daft - that's not moving. All edits from similar area (not that that is that accurate in UK...!) They are not going to go away - as soon as they get too many warnings, it's a change of IP. Let's semi protect the page and see what happens next ;-)
- NB: I would ask to try to keep to the standard warnings (saves typing for one thing), as they have hidden parts - the auto vandal program Huggle and the auto script ClueBot both use those hidden sections to increment the next warning level. I've added the hidden section level 4 (and a stop sign) to your last message to them. Ronhjones (Talk) 01:38, 8 January 2014 (UTC)
- Much obliged. The car pic I can't fathom - I don't recognise the silhouette, and he uses a Prius FOC from a local business. I take your point about standard messages - I'm not experienced nor conversant enough to be using HU and TW and don't have much time presently for study. Much as I'd like to I can't find archived news files for the local radio, and media don't report on each other. Although strictly the radio interviews I added are unsourced, it's informative not controversial. I don't see why it's such a big deal when a bloke announces retirement clearly in hard-copy intended for the end of fixed-term in 2015 at around 65 years that I should be targeted by an IP address nit-picking. I wouldn't mind so much if it was a reviewer/patroller. rgds--Rocknrollmancer (talk) 02:10, 8 January 2014 (UTC)
- Huggle needs some experience and can be abused if not used correctly. OTOH Twinkle is a nice gadget - once you get used to it, you'll wonder how you did without it. It takes all the hard work out of adding speedies, PRODs, AfD, adding banners about issues onto pages, etc. Ronhjones (Talk) 02:28, 12 January 2014 (UTC)

If it's not vandalism...
If it's not vandalism, then what is it, when someone revert work to try to make a list more truthful? I made clear comments about it when editing and on the talk page too. Cluebot NG doesn't respond to questions about it, so how do I report this to get an answer? I have reported a 'false positive' four times but Cluebot NG's edit is still there and noone answers. Is it Wikipedia's intent that false or dubious information should be kept? Who's in charge? Rump Bass (talk) 20:31, 5 January 2014 (UTC)
- The "clue" is in ClueBot's message to you "ClueBot NG makes very few mistakes, but it does happen. If you believe the change you made was constructive, please read about it, report it here, remove this message from your talk page, and then make the edit again." (my emphsis - I think ClueBot won't revert the same edit twice (I could be wrong...) Ronhjones (Talk) 23:21, 5 January 2014 (UTC)
- I see. That makes some sense, even if I think it is strange that this ClueBot user doesn't want to take any responsibility for its own actions. Rump Bass (talk) 17:50, 13 January 2014 (UTC)
- ClueBot makes thousands of correct edits - there will always be a few that get tangled up. When ClueBot died some time ago, the amount of vandalism left was very noticeable. Ronhjones (Talk) 22:31, 13 January 2014 (UTC)

Veera Ballala II and Vikramaditya VI
Please put a reasonable time-limit on the full protection of Veera Ballala II and Vikramaditya VI. With limited exceptions such as Office- or Arbcom-imposed or -sanctioned situations, "indefinite full protection" is a bad thing, frequently worse than the problem it solves.
Please reduce the terms of the full protections to something like 1-2 years, or less if possible. Consider putting "update after" or similar templates that will expire shortly before the full protection to remind the community to re-add at least semi-protection when the full protections expire.
If a "PC2-protection" proposal that would allow these articles to be put under PC2 protection passes, consider immediately downgrading the protection to PC2 as soon as such a proposal passes. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 04:10, 12 January 2014 (UTC)
- I'm loath to fix a time - someone will forget to apply semi at that time - sadly, there's no guaranteed way to drop from full to semi at a fixed date. I'm rather inclined to either
- 1. Go to semi now or
- 2. Invoke WP:IAR and drop to semi with PS/2 as well - there are already 3 pages (not including the test ones) that are PS/2.
- I think semi is still needed as there are some serious POV editors on these - and they know how Wikipedia works - we had edit, change IP, edit, change IP, edit... It makes reverting so more difficult (unless you drop all edits and go back to an old version - then you are in danger to losing a good edit mixed up in a sea of bad ones. Any feelings on that? Ronhjones (Talk) 16:06, 12 January 2014 (UTC)
- If you think semi is sufficient, then by all means lower the protection to semi. All of the logged-in non-bot editors from 2012 for both articles are autoconfirmed, so if they are the source of the problem and they continue editing problematically, well, there will still be a problem. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 21:54, 12 January 2014 (UTC)
- I've gone for option 2 - let's be bold Ronhjones (Talk) 22:28, 13 January 2014 (UTC)

You nominated a file with this name for deletion at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree files/2013 May 17. There is now a file with the same name on Commons. Is that the same file? --Stefan2 (talk) 16:49, 18 January 2014 (UTC)
- That's a big "YES!". Ronhjones (Talk) 17:12, 18 January 2014 (UTC)
- OK, so nominated for deletion on Commons as the problems might remain there. --Stefan2 (talk) 17:15, 18 January 2014 (UTC)

Reference Errors on 25 January
Hello, I'm ReferenceBot. I have automatically detected that an edit performed by you may have introduced errors in referencing. It is as follows:
- On the Randy de Puniet page, your edit caused an unnamed parameter error (help). (Fix | Ask for help)
Please check this page and fix the errors highlighted. If you think this is a false positive, you can report it to my operator. Thanks, ReferenceBot (talk) 00:32, 26 January 2014 (UTC)
- Fixed. Do web sites use the "|" for comic effect... Ronhjones (Talk) 00:43, 26 January 2014 (UTC)
incorrectly or insufficiently warned
Hi Ronhjones thanks for your answer to my reports. I really don't know how to warn correctly or sufficiently to the user Johan92. I never warned to any user before so I'm not sure how to do it correctly or sufficiently, can you give me an example for to do a correctly or sufficiently warning. please?. I don't think there is a Content dispute because the data the user put correspond clearly to provinces and that points the reference he puts and the article is about metropolitan areas and has its references for that so the references support the edition updated. so if the user deletes correct information and puts wrong information where can I report that case if can't be solved in vandalism? thanks for your answer.--Mastpolo (talk) 22:35, 26 January 2014 (UTC)
- Standard warnings are at Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace or you can enable WP:TW to give a menu to add them. Since he replied to you stating he thinks he is correct - and giving a reference (I don't know if it's any good...) then it's not vandalism (in Wikipedia terms) - it's a simple content dispute, then think about WP:DR, or start a discussion on the talk page (and place a note on Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Peru directing like minded editors to that discussion). Wikipedia does not have to be up to date, it won't matter if it's not perfect for a day or so. Ronhjones (Talk) 22:46, 26 January 2014 (UTC)
article List of metropolitan areas of Peru, edition with sources
Hello Ronhjones, the problem I have with Mastpolo is that he edits the article without any basis that is placed fabricated data, however I get basing on the latest figures provided by the INEI (national institute of statistics and computer science) data, I would like to Mastpolo put the reference shows where these erroneous data — Preceding unsigned comment added by Johan92 (talk • contribs) 23:04, 26 January 2014 (UTC)
- As I said - I see no vandalism (in Wikipedia terms), just a dispute between editors - the talk page is the way to resolve these matters and gain a consensus for what is correct. Ronhjones (Talk) 23:26, 26 January 2014 (UTC)
- I understand, I hope the user Mastpolo accept that making a mistake by putting fabricated data. Thanks for your time
- The information in the article is correct and is not fabricated data. You can read the article Arequipa metropolitan area so you can understand the population of Arequipa province is not the same of Arequipa metropolitan. And I started a talk in Talk:List of metropolitan areas of Peru to explain you so you can understand about it.--Mastpolo (talk) 00:00, 27 January 2014 (UTC)
Speedy deletion declined: The Zeros (American band)
Hello Ronhjones. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of The Zeros (American band), a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Article claims coverage in reliable sources. Thank you. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 00:35, 27 January 2014 (UTC)
