File permission problem with File:Pow-Wow Oak - Lowell, MA - September 2012.jpg

Hello - Just wanted to let you know that my wife (Berri Gerjuoy) sent an email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org a few minutes ago confirming that she had given permission for me to post the photo that she took of me and the Pow-Wow Oak tree in Lowell, MA. Please let me know if anything else is needed. Marty Msact (talk) 23:55, 1 April 2013 (UTC)

I'll change the tag to OTRS pending for you  Ronhjones  (Talk)

Can you explain why you changed the status of this image from a copyright violation (unlicensed fan-art using copyrighted images/graphics) to an orphaned fair use? The image is not an official album cover to the song and is improperly licensed. This user has a history of submitting fan-art and otherwise copyrighted images. I must ask why you believe this is not a copyright violation. ~ [ Scott M. Howard ] ~ [ Talk ]:[ Contribs ] ~ 01:10, 2 April 2013 (UTC)

Because by definition all fair-use images are an allowed copyright violation (otherwise they wouldn't be fair-use). It was correctly set up as fair use with a proper FUR and Non-free album cover license, I see no way I could delete it as a copyright violation as F9. There were two things wrong with it (from a Wikipedia viewpoint) - it was too big, and needed a non-free reduce tag, and it was currently unused, so it needed the appropriate pseudo-speedy tag - which allows the author 7 days to sort out the image's inclusion. If there is something else wrong with it then it may need to go for FfD - but I do note there are plenty of web sites using that picture (e.g. http://www.heybritneyforums.com/viewthread.php?tid=145454 is one I found with not too much effort.).  Ronhjones  (Talk) 01:57, 2 April 2013 (UTC)

I contested deletion of my image http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Capiculata.jpg — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lylegordon (talkcontribs) 19:44, 2 April 2013 (UTC)

But we don't know who you are, anyone could copy that image from that web site, you'll need to use WP:DCM to grant permission for use.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 19:51, 2 April 2013 (UTC)

OK. I'll leave it for now - though you'll end up with endless delete requests from all different editors, unless you give it proper permission via WP:DCM - unless you are prepared to check that image every week. Any image that get uploaded elsewhere before uploading to Wikipedia always creates issues.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 21:43, 2 April 2013 (UTC)

Yes, I made a comment on User Dmitri1999's talk page. He removed it within 2 hours of it going up. You accuse me of being uncivil in my comment. I consider demands for money and threats of lawsuits to be uncivil, which is how Dmitri1999 approached us about re-using one of his images from Wikipedia that we accidentally failed to attribute. Dmitri1999 did not follow the practice outlined on Wikipedia for resolving disputes of this nature; he skipped right to threats and demands. My comment was posted to warn other users that they could expect similar treatment from Dmitri1999 if they used his images, and to warn the Wiki community in general that Dmitri1999 was utilizing your platform as a means of extorting money from people (along with many other previously documented abuses.) But apparently, that concerns you less than the fact that I may have been impolite. Personally, I think your priorities are a bit skewed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.6.66.63 (talk) 20:59, 2 April 2013 (UTC)

The civility policy applies to all users, covering all pages in Wikipedia - no exceptions. If he was uncivil to you in Wikipedia the please point me to the page. As far as I know there is no policy for copyright disputes within Wikipedia - there is only Wikipedia:Sites_that_use_Wikipedia_as_a_source#Non-compliance_process, but that is only general advice of one possible route to take, the copyright holder is free to take whatever action (s)he desires outside of Wikipedia  Ronhjones  (Talk) 21:32, 2 April 2013 (UTC)

File permission problem with File:Michael Falzon, photograph by Gavin D. Andrew Studio Portrait.jpg

Good morning

I have contacted Mr Falzon re: use of his photo, and emailed an early conversation with Mr Falzon on the subject to the permissions address. If he cannot respond within the stipulated 7 days, what recourse do I have?

I hate thinking of names (talk) 01:47, 1 April 2013 (UTC)

I've changed the tag to {{OTRS pending}} - that's OK for 30 days.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 13:33, 1 April 2013 (UTC)

Thank you. He gets really busy - and I'm just a fan so any time he takes for me is greatly appreciated :) I hate thinking of names (talk) 14:23, 1 April 2013 (UTC)

Hasty Deletion: Joseph Altuzarra

Good evening,

I have been a major contributor for the page Joseph Altuzarra. I received a message that both photos were deleted "because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement." I went through the correct steps to upload the photos and I have complete ownership of all the images on the page, so I am wondering what the problem was? If you could please let me know what I can do to have this not happen again. Thank you.

- altuzarra_samples — Preceding unsigned comment added by Altuzarra samples (talkcontribs) 22:17, 3 April 2013 (UTC)

All editors are by definition anonymous. Thus any image that is uploaded that is already present on the internet can only be viewed as a copyright violation. My advice is always - upload to Wikipedia first - it saves so many problems later. You may have the copyright - we are unable to verify that within the Wikipedia pages. Editors upload images from web sites they are not entitled to use every day of the year.
The fashion images were all found at http://altuzarra.com/collections/?collection=59. None of the pages at http://altuzarra.com/ have any indication of a copyright license - in the absence of any copyright statement, the copyright always defaults to "All Rights Reserved" - thus we are unable to use the images.
WP:DCM will explain the choices fully - but you either
  1. Add something to the web site to show the images you want to use are "CC-BY-SA 3.0" - and we can then link the permission field on the image page to that text
  2. Send in the form at WP:CONSENT
Once permission can be shown then images can quickly be restored.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 22:39, 3 April 2013 (UTC)

File permission problem with File:Mersin poster Nowruz 2013.jpg

Hello, and thanks for your message. I took the image with my mobile phone from a billboard (non-commercial) in a public space. I don't get what's the problem. I am the author of the image, I uploaded it, and I authorize its use for non-commercial, illustrative purposes on Wikipedia. Can you please explain your move? I would say you've been overzealous. Francesco — Preceding unsigned comment added by FrancescoMazzucotelli (talkcontribs) 10:33, 3 April 2013 (UTC)

You have just doubled the problems...
  1. It's a poster - you did not design it - that design belongs to the creator, you cannot take that away from him by taking a photograph, it's just a derivative work of his poster and retains his copyright.
  2. You say above I authorize its use for non-commercial, illustrative purposes on Wikipedia - cannot do that either, all free images (when OK!) are full commercial use anywhere - see http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/
P.S. I have replaced the banner - authors are not allowed to remove deletion banners from their own images.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 18:49, 3 April 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for your explanation. While I understand the concept of copyright and the related copyright issues of Wikipedia, I believe you're being unnecessarily harsh in your tone and overzealous. I don't want to "take [anything] away from" the author of that billboard. In fact, the purpose of uploading this picture on Wikipedia is not about duplicating or appropriating the design of the poster, but only to show the use of several languages (including Kurdish) in an official billboard in a public space in Turkey. As such, the image can squarely qualify as fair use in an article related to Nowruz and its celebration in Turkey. The image that I uploaded is also a cropped part of the poster, so it is not affecting the rights of the author of this poster (which is the municipality of Mersin).
You might also have suggested me a change in license tag, instead of proposing the deletion of the image, no less!
FrancescoMazzucotelli (talk) 10:30, 4 April 2013 (UTC)
PS: The mere deletion of this picture (rather than a change to a more appropriate license tag) is depriving the Newroz- and Kurdish issue-related articles of a significant, updated primary source. Endorsing a speedy deletion of this picture rather than discussing if it can qualify as fair use (I argue it definitely does) means doing a disservice to English-language Wikipedia, not a service.
Oh, and finally, last time I logged in on English-language Wikipedia there was something called "assume good faith". Maybe there was a change of policy I'm not aware of?
FrancescoMazzucotelli (talk) 10:44, 4 April 2013 (UTC)
I cannot say if it will quality as fair-use, without a full fair use rationale and inclusion into the article to see if all the criteria under WP:NFCC can be satisfied. We used to tag all such images as copyright violations (some editors still do), and they were deleted very quickly. There's still AGF which is why I prefer to use the pseudo speedy deletion process whenever possible, thus giving the editor 7 days to discuss and sort out the image - some may plump to go for fair use (but note it's way too big - you need to be around 300px and low resolution to satisfy fair usage), some will try to get the creator's permission. I can't tell you what to do with the image, I can only show that it cannot stand in the current state, and I am quite happy to discuss options during that 7 day period.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 16:31, 4 April 2013 (UTC)
Thanks again for your note. I believe that the image might qualify as "fair use" for the following reasons:
1. It serves "an important function in a particular article" (NFCC8): in fact, it shows the use of several languages (including Kurmanji) in an official billboard in a public space in Turkey during the Newroz festivity period. As such, it shows a significant shift in either language policies and public celebration of a festivity that was repressed for a long time.
2. "It cannot be replaced by any other, free illustration that might yet be created" (NFCC1): in fact, there is no other way to prove the above-mentioned policy shift but showing a part of this poster. I have no idea how to contact the creator of the poster. Since this was a municipality-endorsed poster, I am also not sure who, according to the Turkish copyright law, is actually the copyright holder for this poster (its actual designer, or the municipality as a public body?). I am actually not sure if this poster has been copyrighted at all.
3. "Its use does not negatively affect the commercial interests of its owner" (NFCC2): in fact, the image is a cropped section of the original poster; and the poster itself does hardly have any commercial intention. (Just for the sake of comparison, imagine a banner "Essex County wishes you a Merry Christmas".)
4. "There will not be more non-free material used than necessary" (NFCC3): in fact, it should be used in the article about Newroz celebrations (and Newroz as celebrated by Kurds), and possibly in the article about Languages of Turkey (see rationale below).
5. Non-free use rationale. This image is the object of discussion in an article, and an excerpt from a work. Its presence is needed to support a piece of explicit critical discussion.
I'll be glad to further discuss these points with you, and others. FrancescoMazzucotelli (talk) 09:12, 5 April 2013 (UTC)
If you are happy that it will work as a fair-use then feel free to change it to that status and remove the banner (or change it and let me know, and I will remove the banner). I personally don't check new non-free images - there's more than enough new "free" images loaded every day to check (usually around 100), plus I know we have plenty of editors who excel well at checking non-free justifications. When I find a "free" image that cannot be free - I cannot suggest non-free as I don't have full knowledge of the subject and therefore how well it could work within the article. Therefore it better to add a pseudo-speedy, thus allowing you 7 full days to discuss options and alter as necessary.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 18:35, 5 April 2013 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Perihelion Science Fiction cover, January, 2013.jpg

Hi! Could you please explain this further to me? I have asked the originating artist who drew the image for the cover to send an email to the appropriate address. However, I am the editor and publisher of "Perihelion Science Fiction." I paid money for the image in question. I own it. It is the property of the magazine. I own the copyright on the work. It is my legal right to do whatever I want with the image. If anybody has any interests in the image, by law they must come to me, not the artist who drew the picture. I understand Wikipedia's concerns about properly attributing material, but please allow me to quote:

Under the work made for hire doctrine, copyright ownership of a particular work vests with the employer of the author when the work is created by an employee who is acting within the scope of his or her employment. In the case of a "work for hire" owned by a corporation, the right [to reproduce, distribute, display] exists for 95 years from the first publication.

Could you please reverse the "speedy deletion nomination?" Thank you so much. Sam Bellotto Jr., editor. Crossdown (talk) 21:41, 5 April 2013 (UTC)

No. All editors are by definition anonymous. There is no way within the Wikipedia pages to confirm who you are, and if you own the copyright - your only route for such images is to use the procedure at WP:DCM, to send in the consent form at WP:CONSENT to the WP:OTRS volunteers. If you do that you may add {{OTRS pending}} to the image, which will give you 30 days to get the permission sorted (OTRS is not instant) - let me know if you add the OTRS banner and I will gladly remove the speedy.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 21:51, 5 April 2013 (UTC)

Okay. Thanks. I believe I sent the proper WP:CONSENT form to the WP:OTRS volunteers. But I'm not entirely clear as how to add {{OTRS pending}} to the image. Sam Bellotto Jr. Crossdown (talk) 22:05, 5 April 2013 (UTC)

File:Sanjoy Ghose with his team of social workers in Majuli island.jpg

I have been involved with editing the article Sanjay Ghose. Please see its history to see the sort of edits I have made. I am grateful to Wikipedia for bringing to international attention the martyrdom of this highly talented, very intelligent, very committed graduate of the very first batch of the Institute of Rural Management, Anand. I thought adding some photographs from his life, would add value to this article. I chanced upon this image of late Sanjoy with his team in Majuli - by accident. By the way, Sanjoy was his actual name - it is the Bengali form for the Hindu name, Sanjay. You may be kindly aware that he was kidnapped,by suspected ULFA extremists, and killed, and his body probably disposed of in the Brahmaputra. The photograph of his last days is a valuable evidence of the sort of people he was working with in his team. There was nothing remotely violent or untruthful about his life. He lived Mahatma Gandhi's values of Truth and Non violence. I hope this explains the motivation for the adding the image. Regarding copyright, Sanjoy worked in a very unstructured manner - which is perhaps true for many social activists. He had a huge network of friends and followers, literally across the world. When he died some of his friends and followers came together and created the website. My own contribution can be seen in http://www.umiacs.umd.edu/~venu/SANJOY/sarma.article.html

The network seems to have since re banded over other concerns which animated Sanjoy's life. I personally know some of the people from this network, in Delhi and in IRMA, but not the ones who operated from USA. To take your concerns of copyright, I have added the template 'non-free fair use'. I hope this will kindly meet your objections to use of the photograph. Anant (talk) 08:09, 6 April 2013 (UTC)

You are entitled to go for non-fair use if you wish to overcome the copyright issues. You need to add a rational to the page as well - see Wikipedia:Non-free_use_rationale_guideline - there is a blank template half way down you can copy to the page and fill in the blanks after the "=" signs. Note that - Low_resolution must be Yes and Replaceability must be No to be allowed to stay.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 15:37, 6 April 2013 (UTC)
I have kindly complied with your instructions to include Wikipedia:Non-free_use_rationale_guideline template. Please note that, as instructed I have added - Low_resolution = Yes and Replaceability = No

I hope this kindly meets your objections. Anant (talk) 12:30, 7 April 2013 (UTC)

You have added all the information that is required for a non-free image.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 20:46, 7 April 2013 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of File:BonnieTyler and LorraineCrosby.jpg

Thanks for notifying me about this. I did actually take this image myself at the concert, which I then sent to Lorraine Crosby. She then published the image on her website, I was notified about this some time ago. However, due to copyright complications that this will cause, I would prefer to see the file removed anyway.

Thanks, Liam 20:24, 8 April 2013 (UTC)

Kriegeriales web page

Dear Mr Ronhjones,

I recently created a wikipedia page on fungal order Kriegeriales. This was my first page to create and it is a part for a scholarship application. I am aware that I created it in a wrong space, but I though that after moving it to articles for creation, it was just waiting for being approved before publishing. As I logged in today to check the status, it appears to me that it has been deleted. Is that so? Could it be that it is still available somewhere on another page and that it was just moved? If it was really deleted, is there a way that I could know the reasons for it and still get the page back? I spent a lot of time creating it and it would be very sad if I just lost it. In addition, this also means that I am disqualified for the scholarship, which would be even worse.

I hope my page is still out there somewhere, please let me know what I should do to make it acceptable for the publication.

Thank you in advance! Yours Sincerely,

user Pucciniomycotina Pucciniomycotina (talk) 22:36, 8 April 2013 (UTC)

File deletion.

Hi RonHjones,

You sent a message regarding the deletion of the file Five P&O ships at their 175th Anniversary.jpg. I'm fine you deleting it, it was just a tester for me to see if I could upload it for my user page, but I couldn't so I decided to leave it and I couldn't figure how to delete it (i'm fairly new here so I don't know much!).

All the best,

Hi Ron I'm VC L Veasey Of Black Merda. You left me this message

"Thanks for uploading File:Hugeblackmerdapeggy2.jpg, which you've sourced to http://www.blackmerda.com. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license".

Article quality scale

Hi Ron, I was wondering if I could ask for a quick favour. I'm wondering how I can ask for an article to be re-assessed on its quality rating. I've been editing the article "Bonnie Tyler" for almost a year now - back then it was rated a C-Class, and I'd like to know how I can have it looked at. I'm aiming to get it to a higher level. I just wondered if you'd mind directing me to somewhere I can follow this up. Thanks, Liam (talk) 20:54, 10 April 2013 (UTC)

Oooh, bit of a challenge. As far as I can see there is not "standard" way for all the WikiProjects. If you go to Talk:Bonnie_Tyler - you can see the ratings (all 4 are "C") - click any "show", and then where it says This article has been rated as C-Class on the project's quality scale. - click the quality scale link. The target page will usually show/link you where to request a re-assessment.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 21:16, 10 April 2013 (UTC)
Oh that's fantastic, thanks so much!! Liam (talk) 18:40, 11 April 2013 (UTC)

Error in image licensing

Sorry to have to come to you again, Ron... I thought with you checking out that Lorraine Crosby/Bonnie Tyler image, you'd be a good person to come to about this. I share my Wikipedia profile with a friend, and together we've set the challenge to get Bonnie Tyler's Wikipedia page updated and perfected by the time of the Eurovision Song Contest in May 2013. Recently we've been messaging a few photographers and asking for them to donate some images. Anyway, my friend made a massive copyright error in the upload of one that I'm having a bit of a panic over because I don't want it to land us in any trouble.

She uploaded File:Bonnie Tyler Würzburg2013.jpg stating that we were the copyright holder, which isn't true!! Now... I have emailed the photographer and he has said not to worry, he will send an email to the permissions Wikipedia email and release the image to Wikipedia tomorrow... and so I first tried changing the license myself, though found it too complicated. So then I tried re-uploading the file with a different license, but the old template remained...

Is there anything I can do?? Thanks if you can help, Liam (talk) 22:24, 12 April 2013 (UTC)

Done - You just edit the page as one would an article - uploading new images does nothing to the text part.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 21:59, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
P.S. Please create a new account for your friend - we don't allow users to share accounts. One account = only one person.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 22:02, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
Ah thanks, that's helped so much! It was just editing the template that I found difficult, I couldn't find what to replace with what. Oh and as for the dual-ownership of this profile, that's no more. We've sorted it. Thanks again! :) Bonnietylersave (talk) 23:07, 12 April 2013 (UTC)

The policy on vandalism is pretty clear that "accounts whose main or only use is obvious vandalism or other forbidden activity may be blocked even without warning." Undelete page for Sadoluwa "Dolu" Lanlehin

Hello Ronhjones, I was the author of this page which was deleted by request when Dolu Lanlehin contacted me and requested the page be taken down after the Nigerian terrorist attempted to destroy the US airplane in 2009 (http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/alleged-nigeria-terrorist-umar-farouk-abdulmutall-explode-northwest-airlines-253-detroit-article-1.434304). He did not want any false association with this person since it was highly publicized the terrorist was from Nigeria. At this time, he is comfortable having the page restored and contacted me letting me know. Therefore, please restore the page. If you need confirmation from Dolu, I can forward the email to you. Thanks, -Patrick F.

I did see that - not suitable for English Wikipedia. We remove logos and watermarks from images here. 2. It does not say CC-BY-SA or authorise full commercial re-use.
 Ronhjones  (Talk) 22:15, 17 April 2013 (UTC)

Hello Ron, Thanks for your message. I could do with some help regarding the permissions for the image. (Sunday_Jones_2011.jpg) I am the creator/owner of the image, but ideally I would like to make it free to use in any way except modify. Is there a specific license I can use for this? And if so, how do I attribute this license to the file here on wikipedia? Thanks for your help. Pos777 (talk) 15:51, 18 April 2013 (UTC)

OK, I could change the text to show you are the creator/owner - but first let's address the second question - tricky - the strictest license we could use for a free image would be {{cc-by-sa-3.0}} - that just means any use so long as you are attributed, and any re-use has the same license. For no mods that would entail something like a {{cc-by-nd}} - which (if you click the link) defaults to a speedy delete - as that is not allowed! We do allow limited amounts of fair-use images - but that would fail WP:NFCC by a mile, as the person is alive and the image is therefore replaceable.
I would also add that the name is very likely to be removed as per WP:WATERMARK
So the choices are...
  1. I'll tidy it up for you for a proper cc-by-sa 3.0
  2. I can delete it
Let me know what you would like me to do.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 19:56, 18 April 2013 (UTC)

OK Ron, if you could do the clean up then, that would be much appreciated - thanks for your help. Pos777 (talk) 21:54, 19 April 2013 (UTC)

Yes, I would be most grateful if you could sort out the mess I created on Lady Maria Oglander.jpg. I couldn't find a delete button; probably my bad eye-sight. Many thanks for your help. Rjm at sleepers (talk) 05:38, 19 April 2013 (UTC)

PS Could you also delete File:Infanta Isabella Clara Eugenia.jpg which I uploaded before I realised there was a version on Commons already. Ta. Rjm at sleepers (talk) 05:47, 19 April 2013 (UTC)

There is no mechanism within the Wikipedia page to show who anyone is - all users are effectively anonymous. Therefore when there is an image uploaded which is already present on the web, it is regarded as a copyright violation. Always upload to Wikipedia well before any other site to ensure stability. Otherwise to prove ownership the process is at WP:DCM.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 20:47, 23 April 2013 (UTC)
  • Comment: - Thank you for your help. I will read this article. But i assure you i have all the permissions and i own the copyrights of these images. There is no issue of copyright violations. Dr Adil (talk) 20:53, 23 April 2013 (UTC)
You may well be correct - but there are dozens of images uploaded every day that are just copies of web images, and have to be deleted. We have to apply the same treatment to all such images.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 20:57, 23 April 2013 (UTC)

Dear Radio,

I'm trying to update comedian Al Ducharme's Wikipedia page with photos. Would it be possible to use the photo from your homepage? I'm a childhood friend of Al's.

Wikipedia doesn't allow photos from professional photographers because their are being sued.

  1. Such e-mails must be sent to the addresses on WP:DCM to enable the WP:OTRS team to apply a ticket.
  2. The e-mail from the copyright owner must specify an appropriate license - WP:CONSENT is a typical consent form, and a {{CC-BY-SA-3.0}} is the most restrictive one we allow.
  3. You may add {{OTRS pending}} to the image page while you are sorting that out - it will give you 30 days to finish the process.
Hope that all makes sense.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 19:55, 19 April 2013 (UTC)

What step should I take to have the photo listed? I created a new one on the Wikipedia Commons page here http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Alducharme2012.jpg This image file is not on flickr but on the person's personal non-commerical page. Do I need him to fill out the CONSENT form and email it to Wiki? If so which version of image? Orginal or Commons location? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ejonestexas (talkcontribs) 11:59, 20 April 2013 (UTC)

Consent form at commons:Com:CONSENT ideally as a reply to the e-mail you have got from OTRS (Ticket 2013041910010592) - quoting http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Alducharme2012.jpg. Forget the en-wiki one, if you got that released it would be moved to commons, and if the commons one is deleted - it's a pain to move (commons compares all files at upload - including ones which have been deleted - to prevent duplicates). SO just concentrate on the commons image.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 23:01, 20 April 2013 (UTC)

I had the owner of the file fill out the consent form and email to the wiki email address. Can you see if they accepted it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ejonestexas (talkcontribs) 21:34, 23 April 2013 (UTC)

Yes and click the license and you get sent to http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/2.0/ - not suitable for Wikipedia - only "CC BY" and "CC BY-SA" are the allowed creative commons licenses: "CC BY-ND", "CC BY-NC", "CC BY-NC-SA", and "CC BY-NC-ND" are not allowed. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on 2015 Formula One season, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. ...William 14:50, 30 April 2013 (UTC)

Uploader of map

Hi, I was wondering if it is possible to find out who uploaded this (deleted) map.
The reason that I ask this is the image is used on our wiki and I want to make sure the license info is correct. As you deleted the image I you might be able to found who the original uploader was. Regards, Scafloc (talk) 22:53, 19 April 2013 (UTC)

Copyvio

Hi. I saw your removed the CSD copyvio tag from the image I tagged for speedy deletion[7]. "No URL or rationale" you said. As I explained on the image's Talkpage, the image is clearly scanned from a book or magazine, and so it's not the author's own work and almost certainly a copyvio. Since it's a scan from a book there's no URL and I thought I had explained my reasons at the Talkpage. What's the problem? Cheers,  Yinta 08:07, 2 May 2013 (UTC)

Stanley kirkby tipperary record label

Hi Just what is the problem with this label? It is a picture of a record that is over 100 years old that I have in my possession and have taken a picture of. The original label design is out of copyright and the copyright for this picture is owned by me and released for free use to Wikipedia. Nor can I find any discussion to join as claimed. Please reply to my talk page - thanksRichard J Myers (talk)

Hi. Thanks for your reply. It is very old and with original design unknown and belongs to a short-lived record company. I have added the licensing you suggest for this reason as the original designer in that company over 100 years ago is not known and with regards to the US it was published prior to 1923. I hope that this is OK and will prevent deletion. I had believed that the licensing you suggested was automatically added to the image as I went through the upload process as I had to answer a number of questions - but it appears not! Is there anything else I have to do now? Richard J Myers (talk)

Deletion of erroneously created redirect page

Hi, I need an unused redirect page that I have renamed to a temporary name deleting, so that its original name can be used in a page that actually has content. This is a complicated story, which I can relate if you are an administrator with the privilege to do this. Piotrus who I normally give these kinds of requests to does not have delete privilege (yet). Can I request deletes from someone like yourself? Richard J Myers (talk)

As long as it's a valid delete, and does not lose some needed history - or you can add {{db-g6|rationale=reason}} and get a quicker result.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 19:05, 6 May 2013 (UTC)

Stalking and retaliation by Beyond My Ken (talk)

This user is blatantly stalking me and articles I have edited (which he/she never edits) based immediately upon and following an argument we had on the Rose Hill, Manhattan article which he/she was proven wrong. He/she also actually scratched out a cite-needed tag in that process. Please ban Beyond My Ken (talk) from Wikipedia or at least please warn them not to stalk me.173.63.176.93 (talk) 06:07, 7 May 2013 (UTC)

You put a photograph of Midtown Manhattan skyscrapers on a number of articles about ethnic Americans, with a caption about how many people of that ethnicity live in New York City. Unfortunately, those ethnic Americans don't live in mid-Manhattan skyscrapers, and primarily live in the outer boroughs. That makes your photograph doubly inappropriate. Before we ever tangled on Rose Hill (Manhattan) (which *you* had never edited before, and where, frankly, you behaved like a WP:DICK)), I had earlier removed the same photograph from Azerbaijani American for the same reason. In looking at your edits in the wake of your dickish behavior, I saw that you had done the same thing for other articles, and, of course, I removed it from there as well. If you want to add information to those article about the number of ethnic Americans who live in New York City, that's fine, but inserting an inappropriate and deceptive photograph in order to introduce the information in a caption is a really bad idea. Beyond My Ken (talk) 06:23, 7 May 2013 (UTC)
Stop stalking and retaliating against me and vandalizing the articles I edit. Don't tell me what to do, either, and stick to your own Manhattan articles. The image is simply the best representation of the metro area and there is nothing wrong with that AT ALL. You're also deleting captions and references without justification. Let the admin address your raunchy behavior in the meantime.173.63.176.93 (talk) 06:35, 7 May 2013 (UTC)
Please, lisen to me: YOU DO NOT NEED AN IMAGE TO INTRODUCE THIS INFORMATION INTO THE ARTICLE - Just put it in the article. It's data, it doesn't need a deceptive photograph of midtown Manhattan skyscrapers. Beyond My Ken (talk) 06:38, 7 May 2013 (UTC)
OK, I'm stopping, because you've graduated from being a dick into being a total asshole. Your edits to these articles are not improvements, they are deceptive and misuse images as icons rather than illustrations. I hope never to cross paths with you again. Beyond My Ken (talk) 06:44, 7 May 2013 (UTC)
No, I think you've finally just gotten the sense knocked into you that the Manhattan images simply reference the reader to "New York," not "skyscraper". The captions below say it all in (most) of the pictures clearly.173.63.176.93 (talk) 06:48, 7 May 2013 (UTC)
Bullshit. Beyond My Ken (talk) 10:48, 7 May 2013 (UTC)
If two people are editing the pages based on a certain geographical area, they are bound to fall over each other. I's not stalking. It's just a content dispute(s) by editors with dissimilar views - we have a nice procedure at WP:DR to assist you in resolving the issues if you wish. Just remember to avoid WP:3RR. But if it's not that important, then just apply the stick method - knowing that in 6 months time, a host of other editors will have changed the page one way or the other - the joy of Wikipedia - edits are not for life, especially with popular subjects. None of the pages I've done looks remotely like what I put.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 19:05, 7 May 2013 (UTC)

OK, we have 4 items here
  1. The overall photo - you have given cc-by-sa
  2. The product - has minimalist logos and probably can be ignored
  3. The screen picture - looks like that belongs to Microsoft to me (http://free-download-windows-8-themes.blogspot.co.uk/2012/12/caribbean-shores-theme.html) - and it's too much area of the overall photo to be ignored.
  4. The different program icons - same as (2)
I doubt very much if you can get MS to give you a full release. Suggest put an image you took yourself as a background and retake the photo.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 18:55, 6 May 2013 (UTC)

Unauthorized changes to the Veera Ballala II article

Hi Ron, long time no hear. I was busy with office work and then attending to my parents over the past two months as they had been unwell.

Well I came back a few days back. Well I was saddened to note that one user Mayasandra has once again violated your semi-protection of this article (Veera Ballala II) and removed edits and contributions from others including me. I do want to restore the article to its earlier purer form, but won't do so without your approval.Srirangam99 (talk) 14:21, 5 May 2013 (UTC)

Looks like they did a copy and paste of an earlier version (the IP version), I would therefore guess the IP is the same person. Reverted and placed some extra text on the talk page. P.S. It would be useful, I think, to get those extra two refs moved to in-line in one or more places, if possible.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 17:33, 5 May 2013 (UTC)
Many thanks for the help Ron, well be it disguising themselves in i.ds. mirroring IP address like 69.11..... or Mayasandra or Pied Hornbill, I was a little dismayed to find that their main target was nothing else, but my edits. I have observed these (Sock puppets??) over a period of time, they would lie dormant till I made an edit to an or any article the article, which they would simply edit and alter by adding POV texts and not even once, ever venturing into a discussion on the unauthorized changes made by them. Their favourite targets in addition to Veera Ballala II are Western Chalukya Empire, Vikramaditya VI. Well, recently even in the last named article they have reverted my edits. I dunno what is the solution. Just thought will bring it to your notice. Happy Mother's Day, by the way!! Srirangam99 (talk) 13:13, 12 May 2013 (UTC)

Although Benji has not violated anything since his block, I've been thinking that maybe one week was too short as you also commented at my talk that (s)he will return to the usual pattern. Is it worth extending it, considering that hehas several 4 and 4-im warnings? I wanted to start with one week per WP:ROPE and WP:AGF, but is now a time for second thoughts. Thanks, Ron. Good luck. World Traveller101 15:12, 15 May 2013 (UTC)

Blocks are rarely extended unless there was some major error at the time. Such an action would be a good reason to start an appeal. Normally after one short block, any repeat will often be an indef block - not to stop them forever, but to force them into a dialogue about their editing ability and understanding of policies.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 19:23, 15 May 2013 (UTC)

Buffalocomotive

Hello Ron. Here we are once again. A scan of my artwork was deleted that I uploaded to wiki under creative commons (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=File:Buffalocomotive_Concept_Art.jpg). As my previous legwork shows I am the "wiki-proven" sole copyright-holder of the finalized album cover artwork (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Tears_Of_The_Enchanted_Mainframe_-_Album_Cover.jpg) and the more recent file I submitted is simply a scan/snapshot into my process as an artist (the pencils stage) working towards that final product. Again, the art is mine as already accepted by wiki, I am simply "showing my work" and presenting a "making of" showcase with this additional file/image. Can the image file page be reinstated as soon as possible with the {{OTRS pending}} tag please. Thanks. Cadillacula (talk) 22:29, 15 May 2013 (UTC)

re: alice crary.png

Hi Ron, Thanks for your note about this submitted photo. The owner has submitted the email to Permissions with the required boilerplate language regarding Creative Commons licensing, and so hopes that the photo may stay on the Alice Crary site. Best regards, — Preceding unsigned comment added by Uhno80 (talkcontribs) 01:56, 16 May 2013 (UTC)

Looks like the e-mail has been process and the image File:Alice Crary.png now has an OTRS ticket.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 22:29, 19 May 2013 (UTC)

Hi Ron. Would you revision delete the copyright violations added by Kadayawan (talk · contribs) on Davao Christian High School. We previously discussed this article at User talk:Cunard/Archive 7#Davao Christian High School in January 2011, when you revision deleted the copyright violations added then. Hopefully the revision deletions will deter users from re-adding the copyright-violating content. Thank you, Cunard (talk) 13:54, 18 May 2013 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Eicher truck photo

Ok, I know you may have detected that the image is from another website (maybe by the hidden watermark or you compared it with all the images on the web: btw can you tell me from which site the image is?) But what harm does the image cause, sir? I don't understand what this copyright infringement is all about for useless truck images. I take so much effort to crop it to size and upload it, and you just delete it! Fair!? It is easier to find an image from the web and put it up than take a camera and go hunting for a specific truck. Do you agree? -Polytope4d (talk) 15:02, 16 May 2013 (UTC)

Not on Wikipedia. Not allowed. No exceptions. It's not your photo - you cannot decide how to use it. If you want to upload a picture, then get your camera out, talk a photo and upload it. Then it's your photo and you are allowed to do what you like with it (with limitations - one must ensure that the subject is not subject to copyright first). Every image uploaded is checked for copyright infringements within a few days of uploading.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 19:27, 16 May 2013 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of File:Eicher truck north Ind.jpg? Ok I have uploaded my own image for the page.. Happy? And also linked the first image to the original. How to delete the derivative File:Eicher truck India.jpg which is a modified version? Please delete it. -Polytope4d (talk) 19:26, 19 May 2013 (UTC)
Happiness has nothing to do with it - we have to follow the policies and ensure the Foundation does not end up with law suits for copyright violations. File:Eicher truck India.jpg is a derivative of File:EICHER JUMBO 20.16.jpg - I have already marked it at that.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 22:27, 19 May 2013 (UTC)
Well, Sir, I hope you are not offended by my style of writing, but I mean no contempt towards you. But I do disagree with some Wikipedia policies. Anyway, I did not know Wikipedia has such stringent policies; I believe it is a bit too much. And I hope no one is going to delete the photo File:Eicher_Terra16_Goa_Ind_2_2013_crop.jpg, it is entirely my own work, as i tried to follow the policies. -Polytope4d (talk) 17:07, 20 May 2013 (UTC)
All policies are composed by a consensus of editors - anyone is free to suggest change (but not, of course, if it will involve any breakage of laws) at Wikipedia:Village_pump_(policy). Image looks just fine to me.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 19:48, 20 May 2013 (UTC)

Ron, this is my very first try at a Wiki page although have made some edits to another. Am keen to learn but finding the whole Wiki syntax and protocols a bit complex. Even suspect my attempt to move my sandbox was unsuccessful. anyway, I'll persevere. You have sent several messages I think. One clearly says the image will be taken down on 28/5/13, the other could be just another version of the first, or something else, I'm just not sure. This property was in my family for 35 years and measn a lot to the surviving members of teh family that grew up in this town, went to school there, met their girlfriends and boyfriends there, married them there, and were buried there (my grand parents & father, and me too when the time comes, and my wife). You understand this whole thing better than me. Is there anyway to retain this image which is public property? - its a guest house - they advertise - they want to be known - have done for 109 years - its not a private home. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Roger Dunkley (talkcontribs) 02:53, 20 May 2013 (UTC)

The problem is that the data you gave on File:Whitehall Guest House.jpg was 3 "unknowns". The most important one effectively being "Who owns the copyright" - When you take a photo with a camera, the copyright belongs to you (and you alone) for all your life and 70 years after death (copyright to who inherits the estate) - unless you decide to formally give it away. Now the "unknowns" mean we don't know who owns it, and have no idea when copyright runs out. Also we can find http://www.panoramio.com/photo/29385130 - which is bigger and clearly has "© All Rights Reserved by Muzza from McCrae" - that really makes it difficult to show that image here. I think you only have three options...
  1. Grab a camera and take a fresh photo.
  2. If "Muzza from McCrae" will change the page http://www.panoramio.com/photo/29385130 to be "CC-BY-SA" then you are home and dry.
  3. Have a read of WP:DCM - if you know who took the picture (or who inherited the copyright if deceased), then get them to send in the form at WP:CONSENT to the e-mail address on those pages.
Hope that all makes sense - if you go for option 3, let me know and I will change the banner on the image page to give you 30 days, rather than a week. Note that if it does get deleted, undeletion is just as quick once permission is obtained.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 20:05, 20 May 2013 (UTC)

Image delete

You have tagged this image for deletion, purportedly because there is no permission provided (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:IMT_Lucca_San_Micheletto.jpg). However, there is (and was) a link to the author website with the picture which clearly states that he allows the distribution of the image under the creative commons license. As you said in the text "CC BY-NC-SA 3.0" - but you put a {{cc-by-sa}} not a {{cc-by-nc-sa}} license on the page - had you done so - you would have realised the problem (click the cc-by-nc-sa link...)  Ronhjones  (Talk) 19:31, 21 May 2013 (UTC)

File:Fabio 2009.jpg

Hi! Can you say why listed this picture for deletion? As I know, all of Agencia Brasil's images are free to upload in wikipedia. Please checked it. Thanks. Tabarez (talk) 18:49, 27 May 2013 (UTC)

Sorry my error on that one - no link in the permission field - which we need to have to check the current license. I fixed the permission link to go the the correct url.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 20:47, 27 May 2013 (UTC)
I see we will have to do something about that template - it gives the wrong license.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 20:49, 27 May 2013 (UTC)
I've created a new template for images from site - {{Cc-by-sa-3.0-br}} - the one you used was a redirect to {{Cc-by-sa-2.5-br}}. I can't change {{Agencia Brasil}} as that is OK on the older images.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 21:05, 27 May 2013 (UTC)
Problem: {{cc-by-sa-2.5-br}} tells that all files with that licence are from Agência Brasil. However, anyone is free to license an image under that licence, so the template risks causing misattribution if someone else makes a file which is licensed as such. Also, Commons:Template:Cc-by-sa-2.5-br is for all CC-BY-SA 2.5 BR images (not just the Agência Brasil ones), so this risks causing mistakes whenever people move files to Commons. --Stefan2 (talk) 22:10, 27 May 2013 (UTC)
Then we need to move {{cc-by-sa-2.5-br}} back to {{Agencia Brasil}} and {{cc-by-sa-3.0-br}} to {{Agencia Brasil 3.0}}, and have generic {{cc-by-sa-3.0-br}} - yes?  Ronhjones  (Talk) 22:21, 27 May 2013 (UTC)

Please could you recheck!

I have changed the license and added the correct evidence (now an email) for HowToGeek logo.png and have done the same to Screenshot of How-To Geek.png. Thanks! Chihin.chong (tea and biscuits) 20:34, 27 May 2013 (UTC)

OK - personally I would use the template at WP:FURG - a standard layout makes it easier to check.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 20:52, 27 May 2013 (UTC)

Boca Juniors Gibraltar

Hi RonhJones,

I recently noticed that you have deleted the Boca Juniors (Gibraltar) wiki page.

I was the creator as I'm sure you are aware, and am somewhat bemused at your decision to delete the whole page considering the issue is only with the badge crest.

I would like to work in conjunction with you to get it back up straight away with the correct terms of use.

We created the page as a team, we are a registered team in the Gibraltar Football Association, and one of us created the club crest.

Could you please let me know what I have to do to get our page back up? I have been a member of wikipedia for a while, but have never created a page before so I'm lacking any real experience or knowledge on the particular subject.

If you could guide me in the process I would be grateful. Also I have not saved any of the work that was in the page as I wasn't aware it could be deleted, is it possible once the issue is sorted with the badge for you to enter that information again?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Seb (manuseb) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Manuseb (talkcontribs) 11:50, 28 May 2013 (UTC)

Anything deleted can be undeleted.
  1. The image File:Boca Juniors Gib Crest.jpg is up for deletion as a logo - only the person who actually designed the logo can upload it - and it needs to be made very clear that it was uploaded by the designer - also one must consider the bits of the logo - stars are fine and so is text, but is that drawing of the rock original by the same designer? If you designed it all, then let me know and I can fix the image.
  2. The page Boca Juniors (Gibraltar) - deleted by User: Fram on the 27th (WP:CSD#A7 - A7: No explanation of significance (real person/animal/organization/web content/organized event). It can be restored as a sub page of a user's space to allow you to work on it. If you want that, then just let me know.
Hope that helps.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 20:51, 28 May 2013 (UTC)

The image File:Boca Juniors Gib Crest.jpg as a whole was created by myself, using the original logo and photoshop, it is unique and original. The Rock/Lettering was created using the same method and completely originally created. I thought i made that clear when signing the logo into wikipedia, i apologise if this has been misunderstood.

The page Boca Juniors (Gibraltar) - I'm not quite understanding how there is no explanation of significance? It is an organisation and we want to be recognised as such on wikipedia(the same as every other football club on wikipedia) and I can add that to the page if that would make it legitimate and "wiki-worthy" :) If this isn't sufficiant please let us know what we have to do.

Again I apologise for any trouble this has caused, we are merely a small football club that has been recently founded looking to get our name recognised on the web.

Thanks for your urgent help on the matter.

Seb (manuseb) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Manuseb (talkcontribs) 22:53, 28 May 2013 (UTC)

  1. Image sorted out - we do get a lot of people uploading logos, claiming copyright, when all they have done is take a photo of a logo. Thus we are always wary of a logo.
  2. Article now at User:Manuseb/Boca_Juniors_(Gibraltar) - have a read of WP:N and WP:CLUB, also Wikipedia:WikiProject Football - if necessary, try asking at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football. I would advise not moving it back to article space without some editing to add some content (tables and pics are not content) - also better, when ready, is to use the "Submit" link I added in the top banner - it will add a special banner, and the page will move (within a day) to the WP:AfC system, where it will get a review and comments (and not deleted).  Ronhjones  (Talk) 00:47, 29 May 2013 (UTC)

I am still unable to view the logo, or any of the saved information you said we could get back(plenty of content there i think?) i.e. club foundations etc. If i click submit, could you add it back for us and we should be ready to go? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Manuseb (talkcontribs) 01:28, 31 May 2013 (UTC)

Boca juniors Gibraltar

Hi there

I am the captain of the football team Boca juniors (Gibraltar) and with Gibraltar being accepted as part of the UEFA family my team members and I believed we deserved our own wiki page. With our fan base on the rise, there is a strong demand for more online information about teams in Gibraltar, and we thought this was the best avenue to go along. If you check the Gibraltar football associations wiki page you will see our name on the football team list. No copy right rules are compromised with the original Boca juniors as they are not part of UEFA. Can you please let me know why you removed our page and help us move forward on this matter by letting us know how we can go about creating our own wiki page without it being deleted once again.

Thanks

Believe.in

Hi Ronhjones - I'm a newbie so forgive me if I've gone through the wrong channels. I wrote a page for Wikipedia on a charity-based company called Believe.in and included their logo. Obviously I'm still learning - the page was deemed too much like advertising so I'm editing it. And you kindly wrote to tell me that the logo was not licensed. I'm having a problem getting licensing information. I rang the firm and the managing director said the logo was free for use for anyone and he had not copyrighted or patented or done anything with it. If you've any advice for me that would help get the logo included on Wikipedia, I'd be most grateful. Thanks...Mark Bermondsey Boys (talk) 09:17, 30 May 2013 (UTC)

Well the MD obviously has no idea how copyright works. When something is created it automatically gains copyright - usually for the life of the creator + 70 years. If the creator then uploads here and donates the copyright (just like most images here), then that's OK - it's his/her copyright to give away. For someone else to upload the image, we need the copyright holder to formally donate the image - the rules can be found at WP:DCM, OR you could consider uploading the logo as "fair use" - see WP:NFCC guidelines - BUT it has to be used in an article - no good while in a sandbox environment, must be a full article to have a non-free image - so you would have to finish the artile off first, move it to article space and then upload the logo (or ask an admin to restore it).  Ronhjones  (Talk) 20:58, 30 May 2013 (UTC)

Hi, Ronhjones. I was simply writing to seek clarification regarding the File permission problem with File:Chris Brokaw, Limited Edition Tapes.jpg, since -as I took the photograph myself- I do not see a problem. But then again my contributions to wikipedia have normally been limited to the realms of grammar, spelling, and actual content, and it is only recently that I have began contributing images, so I may have easily missed something. Oulipal (talk) 00:33, 31 May 2013 (UTC)

Someone designed the covers, they have the copyright until 70 years after they die. I'm assuming they were first made post URAA - and therefore copyright is automatic and does not need a copyright notice  Ronhjones  (Talk) 00:40, 31 May 2013 (UTC)
P.S. The bottom right one could be used on its own with {{PD-text}} as the license for the cover and you can have your {{cc-by-sa-3.0}} for the photo (so two licenses have to be shown - simple - it never is with images...)  Ronhjones  (Talk) 00:40, 31 May 2013 (UTC)
Ok. I had assumed that using photographs I took of the copies I own would be acceptable, as images of album covers seem to accompany most artist/album/song Wikipedia entries. Oulipal (talk) 13:59, 1 June 2013 (UTC)

Any editor can propose a deletion, and any editor can remove the PROD banner. If no one removes the banner, then after 7 days - it apparent that no one wants the article and it gets deleted - according to WP:PROD. Anyone can request undelete after deletion at WP:REFUND. But if you want it undeleted then just say so, and I will undelete - I would expect the original deletion proposer to then request deletion via a full WP:AfD.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 22:23, 1 June 2013 (UTC)

AG Lafley Photo deletion

Ron, I need your help to understand why you targeted A.G. Lafley's photo for deletion. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lafley It is a photo that P&G (represented by me) makes available in the public domain for free and open use on our own website. There are no copyrights related to the photo. It is wholly owned by P&G who makes it available without any copyright restrictions or need for citations. How can we resolve this and repost the picture? Thanks in advance for your help. Tom Glenn.tj (talk) 12:39, 6 June 2013 (UTC)

We have no way of knowing who you really are, so we can't use any image that appears on another web site as it looks like a copy. The image is on this page - http://www.pg.com/en_US/company/purpose_people/executive_team/a_g_lafley.shtml and it says at the bottom (although with US law since 1996 it's somewhat superfluous) "© 2012 Procter & Gamble". And on http://www.pg.com/en_US/terms_conditions/index.shtml it says Unless otherwise specified, the P&G Web Sites are for your personal and noncommercial use. You may not modify, copy, distribute, transmit, display, perform, reproduce, publish, license, create derivative works from, transfer, or sell any information, software, products or services obtained from the P&G Web Sites. How can we use such an image? Not with that information. Under US law any photo taken since 1996 is full "All Rights Reserved" copyright of the photographer until 70 years past his/her death, unless they released the copyright to the company that employed them. The full data on how to properly release the copyright of such images so they can used here, can be read at WP:DCM - but in a nutshell...
  1. Add a CC-BY-SA or CC-BY logo on the web page - logos and web code are HERE OR
  2. Get the copyright holder to send in WP:CONSENT to the e-mail address on the web page - the e-mail should come from a recognisable domain (i.e. not hotmail, etc.) - quote "en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:A.G. Lafley Company Photo.jpg" as the image url.
When either is done we can simply undelete.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 19:30, 6 June 2013 (UTC)

Ron, thanks for clarifying. We have sent the WP:CONSENT form to the email address listed on the page. Please let me know if this resolves the issue. Thanks Tom. 137.183.232.27 (talk) 12:52, 7 June 2013 (UTC)

I see you have removed the CSD tag from File:Isaac Hasson.jpg. Can you help me understand why? The image in http://2013expo.ascap.com/speaker/isaachasson#.UbEtSPS9KK3 is a copy of a portion of the image in File:Isaac Hasson.jpg. Does this not show avleast a portion of the image was previously published? Would this not be a violation of copyright laws?reddogsix (talk) 01:00, 7 June 2013 (UTC)

Look at http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=File:Isaac_Hasson.jpg&oldid=558534544 it says quite clearly This file may meet Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion as this file is copied from http://2013expo.ascap.com/speaker/isaachasson#.Ua_ojTi9KK0 - there is no way the image on WP could be copied from that url. Therefore the uploader must have sole access to the original photo. He may well have used a potion elsewhere (there is no photo credit on the web page, so we don't know - had it said "Getty Images" or similar then that would be a different story) - but it would have to go via a WP:PUF and not a CSD. You can still nominate for a WP:PUF if you like.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 19:04, 7 June 2013 (UTC)
