Ways to improve 1967 in American soccer

Hi, I'm Billgates27. Quidster4040, thanks for creating 1967 in American soccer!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Please consider adding references and more content to future projects on Wikipedia. Please also take some time to read the tutorials about creating new pages.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse. —Preceding undated comment added 19:44, 28 December 2012 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited 1967 Washington Whips season, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Trevor Thompson (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hello, in games of the regular season in 2013 D.C. United season, you need to complete the rest of the games of the regular season. Sebastián Alfaro 16 (talk) 00:54, 10 January 2013 (UTC)

I will, thanks for the reminder. I got caught up in some other items, but hopefully by the end of the evening I'll complete it. Quidster4040 (talk) 00:55, 10 January 2013 (UTC)

Cosmos seasons

Sure, help would be great! If you could start at the other end (begin with the 1984 season and work your way backwards), we could meet in the middle. That'd be fantastic. Just follow the same format as I've established in the first three (currently writing up '73 right now), it's the format I got from the '75 Timbers article. Soccerstats.us and the other references are good sources, but you may need to double check info at times, particularly when determining game scores, goal scorers, and leading scorers of the season. I'll double check for discrepancies whenever you post an article, you can double check mine. Thanks! -- Fifty7 (talk) 14:58, 12 January 2013 (UTC)

Do you think a 1985 season would be necessary? I looked online, and it appears that, according to Soccerstats.us, that the club played three friendlies that year. Not sure if that's enough to qualify as its own standalone article. Quidster4040 (talk) 22:20, 15 January 2013 (UTC)

Cosmos seasons update

Hey, just wanted to give you an update. 1971-1977 are completely done, as are 1983 and 84, which I touched up a bit after you created them (nice job btw!). I also filled out the 2013 article a bit.

I created 1978 and 79, but the results still have to be added in. I'm a bit exhausted from all of it, so if you wanted to continue contributing, be it the results or creating the remaining pages, it would be much appreciated! Just follow the format of the others and it comes out quite well. Thanks. -- Fifty7 (talk) 19:24, 28 February 2013 (UTC)

They look excellent! Nice work! I'll probably begin the remaining pages after I finish up the 2013 NCAA D1 men's soccer season article. Quidster4040 (talk) 19:43, 28 February 2013 (UTC)

There is a discussion on the Soccer in the United States Talk page about two tags you added to this article back in 2011. I wanted to drop you a note to give you a chance to provide your input to the discussion, if you wish.

In general, when you place tags on a page, it is helpful to write something on the Talk page of the article explaining what the perceived problems are with the article (and how to fix it). The page WP:RESPTAG has some helpful guidance on this subject. Barryjjoyce (talk) 02:07, 2 March 2013 (UTC)

VCU Baseball coaches

Thanks for your work on the VCU Rams baseball pages that you've done recently. I was hoping I could convince you to create bios of major head coaches of the program, starting with the current one, Shawn Stiffler, and the most recent, Paul Keyes. This would help expand Wikipedia's coverage not only of VCU baseball, but also help the college baseball project by filling in red links in navboxes like Template:Atlantic 10 Conference baseball coach navbox, which is woefully in need of articles. Any interest? Billcasey905 (talk) 14:51, 5 March 2013 (UTC)

Not a problem, like what you do for The Citadel athletics, I try to do the same for VCU. And sure! I can try to add a bio for both coaches, and maybe some of the other A-10 coaches. Quidster4040 (talk) 18:33, 5 March 2013 (UTC)
Excellent, and nice job with starting Stiffler. I've found the easiest place to start building up a program's coverage is with lists of seasons, coaches, draft picks, etc. It helps to establish what/who is notable enough for a standalone article. Good luck and thanks again. Billcasey905 (talk) 19:42, 5 March 2013 (UTC)
Do you think then I should begin a list of people recruited under Stiffler? Quidster4040 (talk) 20:21, 5 March 2013 (UTC)
That's probably pushing it a little, when you do season pages you can add a recruiting section that shows each class. I think most people would expect to see new recruits in that context. The best examples for how this is handled are in the large football and basketball programs - take a look at Michigan for a guide. Baseball recruiting of course isn't followed in nearly the same way that those sports are, but it gives you an idea of where to place it and how you might cover it. Billcasey905 (talk) 20:35, 5 March 2013 (UTC)
Thanks a lot! I have noticed before the Wolverines have some excellent basketball articles; I'll delve into some research and look up some of the 2012 and 2013 VCU recruits. Quidster4040 (talk) 20:51, 5 March 2013 (UTC)

This is an automated message from MadmanBot. I have performed a search with the contents of 2013 Big Ten Conference men's soccer season, and it appears to be very similar to another Wikipedia page: 2013 Big East Conference men's soccer season. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case. If you are intentionally trying to rename an article, please see Help:Moving a page for instructions on how to do this without copying and pasting. If you are trying to move or copy content from one article to a different one, please see Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia and be sure you have acknowledged the duplication of material in an edit summary to preserve attribution history.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. MadmanBot (talk) 19:51, 28 March 2013 (UTC)

Early American Soccer Games

Hello Quidster4040; My name is Melvin I. Smith. I am the author of the 2008 book, 'Evolvements of Early American Foot Ball: Thru the 1890/91 Season'. I have spent over a half-century compiling games of early soccer, rugby and football in the USA & Canada. My books were self-published so they could not be used for verification purposes in Wikipedia.

Last December, I was made aware my book was used for verifications for some soccer games in 1866, 1868 & 1870. You seem to have participated in some of the proceedings. My book is now outdated because I have added a lot of information since 2008.

As you may know, my information does not fit into accepted history very well. For example in 1870/71, you will not find any football games listed under association football or soccer at Rutgers, Princeton or Columbia Universities. All these games are listed under the American football game and have been for just over 100 years now.

If after a discussion period, you and others decide not to go against history,I will certainly back away. If you-all decide some games are really kicking games, association football or soccer, I will gladly submit more information.

I do not know how to work under Wikipedia rules yet. My email is: MEL1SMITH@hotmail.com. If possible, I would like to start with the important 1858/59 season. Sincerely, Mel Smith 04/18/2013 OL35srf (talk) 13:23, 18 April 2013 (UTC)

Hello OL35srf,

Thanks for the information and corrections, I'll make sure they are addressed immediately, and I'll talk to the American/Canadian soccer taskforce and see what their input is. Thanks! Quidster4040 (talk) 19:44, 18 April 2013 (UTC)

Early American Soccer Games II

Hi Quidster4040;

Please don't make any corrections. You copied the 1870 information correctly from my 2008 book. I just needed to make sure you were made aware of accepted American football history. My information does not fit that history very well.
Sooner or later, everyone will realize most College association football games from 1869-1891 can only be found listed under American football. The same is true for most College rugby games from 1874-1918.
I need to be in discussion with that group you named 'American/Canadian Soccer Taskforce'; but I don't know how to 'talk' yet in Wikikpedia!

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Norfolk Neptunes requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Deletion discussion about Shawn Stiffler

Hello, Quidster4040,

I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether Shawn Stiffler should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Shawn Stiffler .

If you're new to the process, articles for deletion is a group discussion (not a vote!) that usually lasts seven days. If you need it, there is a guide on how to contribute. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited 2013 Antigua Barracuda FC season, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Paul Nicholson (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Clifton area articles

in 2007 you created some articles about towns in the Clifton, Virginia area (Balmoral at Clifton, Virginia; Balmoral at Clifton, Virginia; Clifton Hunt, Virginia; Rainbow, Virginia). Most of them had titles such as "Rainbow, Clifton, Virginia". Most of them stated that they were "in the zip code limits of Clifton, Virginia, but not in the town limits", but this is not correct, or at the very least it's misleading. See Zip_code#ZIP_codes_and_previous_zoning_lines.

To elaborate on that article I linked to: These towns, along with Clifton, are in zip codes that were assigned a "Clifton" postal address, but having a "Clifton" postal address is not the same thing as being in Clifton. Clifton is just a tinny part of "postal Clifton". The USPS, if they wanted to, could assign these Zip codes a "Rainbow" postal address, but that would not make Clifton part of Rainbow. Manassas Park, and Yorkshire are in a zip code that uses a "Manassas" postal address (tough the USPS also accepts "Manassas Park"). This does not make them part of Manassas, nor does it make Yorkshire part of Manassas Park, and the article titles uses a "X, Virgina" not "X, Manassas, Virgina" format. Same with Huntington, which uses an "Alexandria" postal address yet is not part of Alexandria, and whose title is "Huntington, Virginia" not "Huntington, Alexandria, Virginia.

I would have brought this up with you before making those changes, but I thought you were inactive. They were created with your old User:DCUnitedFan2011 account. Emmette Hernandez Coleman (talk) 22:14, 27 June 2013 (UTC)

On that note Rainbow's on that Google Maps externeal link, shows up as having an almost identical location to Makleys Corner. Are "Rainbow" and "Makleys Corner" two different names for the same place? Emmette Hernandez Coleman (talk) 21:28, 2 July 2013 (UTC)

Hi! It seems you recently created an unreferenced biography of a living person: Tjeerd Westdijk. The community has decided that all new biographies of living persons must contain a reliable source that supports at least one statement made about the person in the article as per our verifiability policy. Please add references as soon as possible. Thanks! --LaraBot (talk) 00:12, 8 July 2013 (UTC)

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to 2013 NCAA Division I men's soccer season may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "()"s. If you have, don't worry, just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

Rowdies Strikers rivalry

I wanted to ask you opinion before I went through with a major over hall of the Fort Lauderdale–Tampa Bay rivalry page you created. As you may have seen, I've recently reformatted it to tell the story chronologically and fixed a few minor errors that I've discovered. I was thinking of breaking it out further into even more distinct sections; ie -old NASL, ASL/APSL, & new NASL to go along with the others. And each with their own brief narrative. As it stands, the main Rowdies/Strikers chart kind of overwhelms you with those 58 games in a row, even though they are really from 3 distinct eras. Along that same line the friendlies could be blended into thoser respective eras, as was done with the indoor friendlies in the indoor section. At the end of the page, a final "sortable" table would appear, that breaks out the series by: All-time, Reg season, Playoffs/Cups, Friendlies and Indoor. So what do you think? Thank in advance for your opinion. Creativewill (talk) 17:24, 10 September 2013 (UTC)

Reorganizing the Striker's information

Hi! I write because I recently did an overhaul of the Fort Lauderdale Striker's information to create more relevance to historical accounts. You had created a template for the club's seasons a couple of years ago. I went ahead and updated the information in the club's main template, which includes all the seasons in addition to the contributions you made. So I proposed to delete the singular one you started as the two would be redundant, and the latter is more defined. Please don't take it the wrong way. It's just a matter of keeping things as simple as possible and easily found for passing readers. I hope you can agree.

btw I'm not including a subst:Tfdnotice as those things always seem so alarming. Nonetheless, I am formally notifying you as a friendly courtesy from a fellow Wikipedian. Cheers NYCWikiKid (talk) 13:25, 20 October 2013 (UTC)
