Grammar

Dude, I love the contributions that you're making as you clearly know your stuff, but please, fix your grammatical errors. Wikipedia is regarded as an eloquent site. Iftekharahmed96 (talk) 18:57, 21 October 2017 (UTC)

@Iftekharahmed96: Yeah, I am seeing the mistakes I've been making, and understand your position. I've really let my grammar checking go (things have been hectic in the real world, which is part of it). It may also be something to do with the fact that Monolith Soft is my very first game studio GA. I've been working to pick up any mistakes in the articles for Sakura Wars: So Long My Love and Bullet Witch. --ProtoDrake (talk) 19:09, 21 October 2017 (UTC)
Cheers for being understanding about it mate. Hope things in real life calm down. In the meantime, happy editing! Iftekharahmed96 (talk) 10:18, 22 October 2017 (UTC)
Really not so sure it's so bad it needed a note like this about it, in my opinion... Sergecross73 msg me 20:43, 23 October 2017 (UTC)

Lost Sphear

Just an FYI, I made an article for Lost Sphear - wasn't sure if you had any interest in it or not - you worked a bit on its predecessor, I Am Setsuna a bit back in the day. Just an FYI, feel no obligation if you're not interested. (Interest in general seems to be way down for this one, between its initial sales in Japan, and that it took 5 months for an article to exist at all, even with pretty strong sourcing out there.) Mobius FF

By any chance are you keeping track with the Mobius Final Fantasy? Just wondering since many recognized articles from the FF series are getting involved in the game and I found only one news for Tidus' role in it. Cheers.Tintor2 (talk) 23:54, 24 October 2017 (UTC)

@Tintor2: I've not had a huge amount of interest recently, and so while I've been keeping track of the main scenario because it's darn good, I haven't been doing so in an encyclopedic capacity. Also, at the moment, I'm busy with two GAs and rewrites of (drumrole) the first two Megami Tensei games for the NES/Famicom. --ProtoDrake (talk) 08:44, 25 October 2017 (UTC)

Japanese reviewers

As the article Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 2 is currently being reviewed, the reviewer asked me to add at least one or two Japanese reviews. I managed to find Famitsu's score of the game but in another source (so it's not the primary source) so I've been wondering if you could aid me with adding the actual Famitsu review but I don't know if another famous Japanese magazine exists.

By the way, nice work with the Megami Tensei articles. I wonder if you aim to work in the Devil Survivor games. Cheers.Tintor2 (talk) 15:37, 2 November 2017 (UTC)

Sorry for bothering but the reviewer pointed me I should fix some grammatical issues but that's exactly my weak point since English is not my native language. Could you take a look if you have time? Cheers.Tintor2 (talk) 12:02, 4 November 2017 (UTC)
BTW, I have been expanding the film Boruto: Naruto the Movie and a fellow user asked me if I could add a Japanese review since the film is Japanese. Do you know of any source that can help? Still, thanks a lot for helping me with the Storm 2 review. Cheers.Tintor2 (talk) 22:19, 10 November 2017 (UTC)

I started working on the video game article Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3. Could you check it and add a possible famitsu review? Still, I'm not aiming to make it GA now considering the requests changed from 3 to 2. Cheers.Tintor2 (talk) 17:26, 14 November 2017 (UTC)

Lets nominate TMS FE as a featured article

ProtoDrake, I think that TMS FE would be a great TFA, I've checked all of the FA criteria, and it meets all of them in my opinion so lets give it a shot^_^ Eltomas2003 (talk) 16:31, 20 January 2018 (UTC)

@Eltomas2003: Sure, I don't see why not. Looks good, so no reason why not. Sorry if I don't sound enthusiastic, it's just getting... all but two of the current Fire Emblem-related GAs to that level over the course of a year has left me slightly sick of everything FE related, especially as seven of them are exclusive to Japan and nearly all of them required eye-crossing research to get descent info on them. I can keep an eye on the FAN and help with the comments raised. --ProtoDrake (talk) 23:16, 20 January 2018 (UTC)

Asura's Wrath

Hope this helps. Regards.Tintor2 (talk) 00:20, 5 February 2018 (UTC)

Also some online interviews.Tintor2 (talk) 00:38, 5 February 2018 (UTC)
@Tintor2: ALready got all those and more. I'm more lacking any developer comments related to the Act IV dlc. I'd have thought the Complete Guide would have something like that, like being inspired by OVAs or something. --ProtoDrake (talk) 00:52, 5 February 2018 (UTC)
I only found Japanese samples but hard to read. Not even Siliconera had those (although that site once had scans that helped me with Yu Narukami).Tintor2 (talk) 01:19, 5 February 2018 (UTC)

Mobius FF

I don't want to spoil you the story but Mobius' Tidus was released at least in Japan. I don't understand a thing but Siliconera did say it was canon some months ago so I don't know what to add to the articles. Feel free to avoid this if you don't wanna be spoiled by the game. Cheers.Tintor2 (talk) 21:05, 6 February 2018 (UTC)

@Tintor2: Siliconera says it is canon to Tidus's story, but I'd just treat it as an event that is canon and leave the fine details for people to look up elsewhere (as people have been told several times, Wikipedia isn't a dedicated wiki). As to the Mobius article, it can just be added as one of the collaborative events. --ProtoDrake (talk) 09:57, 7 February 2018 (UTC)
I see. Offtopic, but I think you might wanna edit this to the Blood-C articles.Tintor2 (talk) 16:11, 7 February 2018 (UTC)

Editing News #1—2018

Read this in another languageSubscription list for the English WikipediaSubscription list for the multilingual edition

Did you know?

Did you know that you can now use the visual diff tool on any page?

Screenshot showing some changes, in the two-column wikitext diff display

Sometimes, it is hard to see important changes in a wikitext diff. This screenshot of a wikitext diff (click to enlarge) shows that the paragraphs have been rearranged, but it does not highlight the removal of a word or the addition of a new sentence.

If you enable the Beta Feature for "⧼visualeditor-preference-visualdiffpage-label⧽", you will have a new option. It will give you a new box at the top of every diff page. This box will let you choose either diff system on any edit.

Toggle button showing visual and wikitext options; visual option is selected

Click the toggle button to switch between visual and wikitext diffs.

In the visual diff, additions, removals, new links, and formatting changes will be highlighted. Other changes, such as changing the size of an image, are described in notes on the side.

Screenshot showing the same changes to an article. Most changes are highlighted with text formatting.

This screenshot shows the same edit as the wikitext diff. The visual diff highlights the removal of one word and the addition of a new sentence. An arrow indicates that the paragraph changed location.

You can read and help translate the user guide, which has more information about how to use the visual editor.

Since the last newsletter, the Editing Team has spent most of their time supporting the 2017 wikitext editor mode, which is available inside the visual editor as a Beta Feature, and improving the visual diff tool. Their work board is available in Phabricator. You can find links to the work finished each week at mw:VisualEditor/Weekly triage meetings. Their current priorities are fixing bugs, supporting the 2017 wikitext editor, and improving the visual diff tool.

Recent changes

  • The 2017 wikitext editor is available as a Beta Feature on desktop devices. It has the same toolbar as the visual editor and can use the citoid service and other modern tools. The team have been comparing the performance of different editing environments. They have studied how long it takes to open the page and start typing. The study uses data for more than one million edits during December and January. Some changes have been made to improve the speed of the 2017 wikitext editor and the visual editor. Recently, the 2017 wikitext editor opened fastest for most edits, and the 2010 WikiEditor was fastest for some edits. More information will be posted at mw:Contributors/Projects/Editing performance.
  • The visual diff tool was developed for the visual editor. It is now available to all users of the visual editor and the 2017 wikitext editor. When you review your changes, you can toggle between wikitext and visual diffs. You can also enable the new Beta Feature for "Visual diffs". The Beta Feature lets you use the visual diff tool to view other people's edits on page histories and Special:RecentChanges. [2]
  • Wikitext syntax highlighting is available as a Beta Feature for both the 2017 wikitext editor and the 2010 wikitext editor. [3]
  • The citoid service automatically translates URLs, DOIs, ISBNs, and PubMed id numbers into wikitext citation templates. This tool has been used at the English Wikipedia for a long time. It is very popular and useful to editors, although it can be tricky for admins to set up. Other wikis can have this service, too. Please read the instructions. You can ask the team to help you enable citoid at your wiki.

Let's work together

  • The team is planning a presentation about editing tools for an upcoming Wikimedia Foundation metrics and activities meeting.
  • Wikibooks, Wikiversity, and other communities may have the visual editor made available by default to contributors. If your community wants this, then please contact Dan Garry.
  • The <references /> block can automatically display long lists of references in columns on wide screens. This makes footnotes easier to read. This has already been enabled at the English Wikipedia. If you want columns for a long list of footnotes on this wiki, you can use either <references /> or the plain (no parameters) {{reflist}} template. If you edit a different wiki, you can request multi-column support for your wiki. [4]
  • If you aren't reading this in your preferred language, then please help us with translations! Subscribe to the Translators mailing list or contact us directly. We will notify you when the next issue is ready for translation. Thank you!

FF template

Hi, I noticed you replaced the previous FF template with your new proposal. I think it's a fairly good design, but I don't think we've arrived at any kind of consensus on what template to use yet. --Iritscen (talk) 20:38, 30 March 2018 (UTC)

@Iritscen: It's not mine. It's PresN's third design. --ProtoDrake (talk) 21:18, 30 March 2018 (UTC)
Apologies, I got your names mixed up. I appreciate the revert; I would expect that someone else was probably going to revert it anyway soon if you didn't. 'Being Bold' is good, but at the moment the vote on the multi-column template seems to be tied, and we haven't even voted on the row-based design yet. Without a definite result, people will continue to challenge the current template forever (whichever one is in use). I suppose they can anyway, but at least it's something if we can tell them that there was a vote, and point to the discussion. --Iritscen (talk) 22:11, 30 March 2018 (UTC)

Can we use this

I've just found this article where Tekken producer explains how Noctis was selected as DLC, how his gameplay was created, among other facts that might help the character's article. Does this count as a reliable source? I'm not so confident with the url's name. Cheers.Tintor2 (talk) 15:32, 24 May 2018 (UTC)

@Tintor2: Since it's an original interview that hasn't been replicated anywhere else yet, I'd say yes. --ProtoDrake (talk) 15:38, 24 May 2018 (UTC)

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:21, 26 May 2018 (UTC)

Advice needed

I've been recently working on the Tekken article Kazuya Mishima. I tried cleaning up its reception section, referencing everything and trying to be as neutral as possible. Flowerpiep also helped me to copy-edit some aparts and I already requested a copyedit at the guild. However, I fear its creation section might need some expansion. I found information about how the producer sees him, his gameplay, but little about his actual creation. The only thing I found is that he was inspired by writer Yukio Mishima. I tried writing their Japanese names on Google but I end up confused by the results. If possible, could you take a look at it? I am trying to make it GA but I still think it lacks some things. Cheers and nice work in Wikipedia.Tintor2 (talk) 23:25, 11 June 2018 (UTC)

Something

This appears to be Dream Within A Dream from Mobius. Sadly, I understand nothing but I wondered if you liked. Also, thanks for the advice with Dante's article. I managed to expand more about his actors as well as reception section. By the way, back to Final Fantasy, I found some sources that might help expand Lightning's reception section which might be useful since the article is a FA and is being discussed by scholars. Famitsu review

Hello. I have been working on Devil May Cry 4 but I can't find an url that has translated the review. As far as I know, you are experienced with Eastern reviews so if possible, could you add them to the article's reception section? Cheers.Tintor2 (talk) 20:27, 7 August 2018 (UTC)

Jill Valentine

Hi. I noticed you commented at Jill Valentine's FAC1, which was a long time ago, so I understand if you don't want to get involved again (or even remember commenting in the first place). But JV's FAC3 was dismissed on the basis that I hadn't contacted previous commentators, so I've gone through all previous FACs and "peer reviews" and tried my best to address any issue which had ever been raised. I'm happy with the article as it is now (in that I believe it meets the featured article criteria), but I'd appreciate any feedback from any previous commentator. Is there something I could improve before renominating? Would you be into commenting at FAC4? I'd ideally like to address every issue anyone may have before renominating, so the FAC can be as uneventful as possible. ;) I'd appreciate your feedback, if you have the time. Cheers. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Tomb Raider Chronicles, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Tintin (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Hi @ProtoDrake:,
Congratulations on getting Tomb Raider: Legend to GA! I’m curious about something − back in 2008/2009 I was working to bring the article in French fr:Tomb Raider: Legend to GA/FA, but never got around finishing it. Maybe I’m reading too much into it, but I was wondering whether some of the French article was used as inspiration for the English one? It would made me a bit happy if that were the case ; but no worries if that were not the case :)
Jean-Fred (talk) 07:22, 21 August 2018 (UTC)
@Jean-Frédéric: I never actually looked at the French page. I was looking for sources, and there weren't many there that looked like what I needed. But thanks. I've had that game on my shelves since May 2006, and it remained one of my personal treasures and the standard by which I measured both its sequels and other games I've bought and played. --ProtoDrake (talk) 09:30, 21 August 2018 (UTC)
Thanks for the answer! Funny how we independently converged to something quite similar − although I guess it should not be that surprising, there are not that many sources to work with to begin with (we typically work a lot with English sources on fr.wp too).
I loved Legend too, and Anniversary as well − some 10 years ago now! I finally got around playing Underworld this year, did not quite resonate as much to me. Ah well :)

K'

K' I ask you a question? Sorry for that pun, but I have been trying to expand the gameplay elements of a character simply named K'. Yeah, because of how simple the name is, searching information about him can be too difficult. Moving on, I managed to find two big paragraphs about how he was designed to play in The King of Fighters XIII thanks to an official blog the game has but nothing about his latest appearance in The King of Fighters XIV. You think Famitsu or another Japanese site has information regarding how to recommend it? It seems unlikely considering the huge amount of characters the XIV has but I wonder if you could check it. Alternatively, some sites simply use the Japanese words "ケイ・ダッシュ" for his name but there is no consistency. Cheers.Tintor2 (talk) 21:58, 2 September 2018 (UTC)

@Tintor2: Sorry, can't help here. I made a search, but didn't find anything like what you want. The closest I could find was this article from PlayStation Blog, confirming his existence and having a little bit of talk from Yuji Watanabe. Not sure if that helps or not. --ProtoDrake (talk) 09:21, 3 September 2018 (UTC)
No problem. Thanks for the search.Tintor2 (talk) 15:21, 3 September 2018 (UTC)
