Woops! Looks like I undid the wrong one. Thanks for changin it back! I thought I was undoing the vandalism. Guess I put it back by mistake....... Metalwario (talk) 12:04, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Heh, I thought that was odd, you seemed from your edit history like a valid contributor. Well, no harm, no foul, it wasn't even up there a day before I stumbled across it. --Iritscen (talk) 14:58, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, everyone makes mistakes, right? Metalwario (talk) 14:12, 17 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Admittedly I did get a little trigger happy removing fan sites, however there are still a number of them which should have been removed per policy. I'd say looking at WP:ELMAYBE I'd say the  • .bungie.org sites are fine, as they'd meet the requirements. In fact, halo.bungie.org is an article here. That's always a safe bet, and it's my fault for not noticing. The Traxus Wiki is probably safe too, but the links need to be updated to [traxus.bungie.org]. Other than the list below, the only thing I'd say is that you can list the main site once and it's good. So instead of http://marathon.bungie.org/story/necedemalis.html, http://marathon.bungie.org/spoiler/m3/ and http://marathon.bungie.org/, just use http://marathon.bungie.org/.

Since I'm a list guy, it's easier to list Bungie-based-article sites that seem like they don't meet policy:

Oni

Pathways into Darkness

Myth (computer game series)

  • Mariusnet - free online multiplayer server for Myth: The Fallen Lords, Myth II, Myth III' and Marathon
  • ProjectMagma - Myth modding group, as well as being the current maintainers of Myth: The Fallen Lords and Myth II.
  • Myth Journals - Journal entries from Myth: The Fallen Lords and Myth II
  • The Wargamer's Myth III site - old promotional Myth III site, only place really to detail the MumboJumbo version of the game.
  • Myth 2 Brasil - Brazilians site dedicated to Myth series. Available on three languages (Portuguese, English and Spanish).
  • Mything.org Extensive library of myth articles covering mapmaking, strategy, unit guides, and more for all 3 Myth games. Home of the Myth Dictionary, the Myth Map Atlas, and much more.
  • The Tain - The Tain, 3rd party plugin and file archive for the Myth series.
  • Myth4 The Wind Age Project - A very ambitious project being created by some of the best and most prolific modders in the community. An idea of what the next Myth game could be like.
  • Onyx Warlords - A Myth game development group
  • Soulblighter.net - International site dedicated to Myth game series. Lots of information, gallery and forums. Available in two languages (Polish and English).

Anyways, sorry for jumping the gun. I often go through and prune random articles I read up on, and I should have checked those links. If you want to talk about anything, just hit me up on my talk page. --Teancum (talk) 17:40, 20 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Got your message, sorry for the late reply. I'd say the link you listed is very useful to the articles. It should probably go in. If there are links that sortof 'blanket cover' multiple mods, files, or projects, that's generally better than listing a number of separate mod sites. --Teancum (talk) 16:17, 29 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

End of Evangelion & Nobuhiro Watsuki

[edit]

"Nobuhiro Watsuki said it best, by the way; he had just seen "End of Eva" and disliked it; he said that the person who told the story clearly didn't care about the characters. I never felt that way in watching the TV series, but it almost perfectly sums up my problem with the movie."

I find that a very interesting claim, but I've been unable to find anything in my usual hunting grounds. Do you remember where you learned that? I'd find it useful for the Eva articles. --Gwern (contribs) 20:58 5 November 2009 (GMT)

Wow, you've obviously been doing some sleuthing, to have found that old post and then found me here. Well, I was paraphrasing from memory, but I knew I read that in one of Watsuki's little "free talk" pages at the end of one of his issues of RK. I just found it at the end of Act 147 (which is in volume 17 in my translated Viz collection). And I quote:

I'm a sucker for those pullquotes. Ahem, anyway, there you go. I wash my hands of what you might do with that quote, but it's all yours ^_^. --Iritscen (talk) 01:38, 6 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Well, to get any decent material on Eva, you have to sleuth through a maze of dead links, uncited assertions, contradictory sources, etc. So finding you was no big deal; the luck was that I was trying to find out what happened to the Terminal Dogma book project and saw your quote.
But it's a good quote though I'm not entirely sure about 'self-improvement seminar'. (I guess he approved of the harpies eating Asuka, but disliked Shinji's introspection?) I've added it to End of Evangelion#Reception, flesh it out a little. --Gwern (contribs) 03:04 6 November 2009 (GMT)

Thanks to Iritscen

Thanks for the quick fixes to the "Platform(s)" field in Oni's Infobox. You are also very clever to differentiate the two Mac platforms (I've been reformatting a list of video games during the past couple of days, and you would be amazed at the number of times I've needed to ask for clarification on the platform "Macintosh" :-).

Note: The "Supported platforms" section of the Vgclegend template does handle both Mac platforms. See "MAC" and "OSX".

There is an API for the WaybackMachine - send a URL and a date and it returns the best available snapshot closest to that date. The work of determining if its 404 etc is done by the API. -- GreenC 17:06, 17 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, hello! I didn't see this message until I was done leaving a follow-up question on cyberpower678's page. I probably wasn't clear enough the first time. I'm basically asking about 404 responses that get saved in the Archive, creating snapshots that no one actually wants to use. But maybe your response answers my question. Does the IABot specifically look for a snapshot from the time period when the URL was originally added to the page? I suppose it could do that if there is a template around a URL which gives the date the URL was added. I had trouble finding the core logic for the snapshot lookup in IABot's code. --Iritscen (talk) 17:28, 17 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah it can determine when the link was added by using the MediaWiki API, stepping through the revision history, then it calls the Wayback API with that date. -- GreenC 17:37, 17 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, wow, I didn't realize that was possible. Your response tells me that I should take a closer look at the MW API and the IABot for my community wiki's needs. Thanks. --Iritscen (talk) 17:48, 17 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Destineer, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page IMG (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver).

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Take-Two Interactive, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page IP. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 06:15, 6 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
