Garbage picking article renaming
You previously opposed a merger of the garbage picking article. Well, now someone wants to rename the article "dumpster diving" which I feel is not a good idea as it's not inclusive of the various situations discussed in the article. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Garbage_picking#Requested_move_31_August_2015 He already did the renaming once without any consensus. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Garbage_picking#Garbage_Picking_to_Dumpster_Diving_Move.2Frename_should_be_reverted. I thought you might not have seen the requested move and might wish to have your say one way or another. Thanks. Centerone (talk) 16:15, 2 September 2015 (UTC)
- @Centerone: Thanks for the notification about matters occurring there. I may or may not become involved at this time. North America1000 16:17, 2 September 2015 (UTC)
Hook
I think this is a better hook. We don't need to be so tentative. Active voice is better. I would propose it myself, but then you would need a new reviewer.
- ALT2 ...that around divers, hooded cuttlefish (pictured) are more curious and confident than squid or octopus? 7&6=thirteen (☎) 15:55, 2 September 2015 (UTC)
- Done. That works. Modified the ALT at the nomination. North America1000 16:00, 2 September 2015 (UTC)
- Your present hooks says: that hooded cuttlefish (pictured) are more curious and confident around divers than squid or octopus?
- This is an Eats Shoots and Leaves problem. My version gets rid of the ambiguity. Makes it clear that there is a comparison of cuttlefish to squid or octopus. Sorry to be picky like that, but ... Best regards. 7&6=thirteen (☎) 16:29, 2 September 2015 (UTC)
- Done. It is now verbatim at the nomination as you suggested above. North America1000 16:32, 2 September 2015 (UTC)
- Done. That works. Modified the ALT at the nomination. North America1000 16:00, 2 September 2015 (UTC)

Five minutes to help make WikiProjects better
Hello!
First, on behalf of WikiProject X, thank you for trying out the WikiProject X pilot projects. I would like to get some anonymous feedback from you on your experience using the new WikiProject layout and tools. This way, we will know what we did right, and if we did something horribly wrong, we can try to fix it. This feedback won't be associated with your username, so please be completely honest. We are determined to improve the experience of Wikipedians, and your feedback helps us with that. (You are also welcome to leave non-anonymous feedback at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject X.)
Please complete the survey here. The survey has two parts: the first part asks for your username, while the second part contains the survey questions. These two parts are stored separately, so your username will not be associated with your feedback. There are only nine questions and it should not take very long to complete. Once you complete the survey I will leave a handwritten note on your talk page as a token of my appreciation.
Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you, Harej (talk) 17:49, 2 September 2015 (UTC)
further deletion of The Brothers' Network Page
Hello,
I see that you deleted the article for The Brothers' Network page. However, when searching for The Brothers' Network on other search engines, the link to the Wikipedia page is the first result, and it takes the user to the "this page has been deleted" page. Is there a way to completely erase the page and link to it or have the deleted article unsearchable?
Thank you for your help. — Preceding unsigned comment added by JBhasare (talk • contribs) 17:25, 2 September 2015 (UTC)
- @JBhasare: Check out Wikipedia:Oversight, where you can ask an oversighter for enhanced deletion. The most punctual way to contact them is by email. I'm not a Wikipedia oversighter, so I cannot perform said actions. North America1000 11:30, 3 September 2015 (UTC)
DYK haggis pakora
Is there anything else I should be doing to get someone else to check my work on this review? valereee (talk) 17:12, 3 September 2015 (UTC)
- @Valereee: In my reviews I usually include whether or not content of the hook is backed by an inline citation to a reliable source in the article, as per section 3 of WP:WIADYK. This does not appear to be present in the review you provided at the discussion. North America1000 23:34, 3 September 2015 (UTC)
Wikiproject Brands?
Wikiproject Brands seems to attract low interest and use, is it abandoned? Lately I have been updating a whole lot of articles and noticing the little work done to improve these articles. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lucasstar1 (talk • contribs) 00:45, 3 September 2015 (UTC)
- @Lucasstar1: There have been four member sign-ups in 2015 (including yours) at the project, so I wouldn't call it abandoned. Perhaps consider sending out invitations to editors you know who may be interested in the project's scope. This can be done using: {{subst:WikiProject Brands invitation}}. Part of the reason I created the project was to have one focused upon brand-name products, which was previously lacking on Wikipedia. Prior to when WP:BRANDS was created, Wikiproject Companies was the closest fit. North America1000 23:37, 3 September 2015 (UTC)

Robert Paulele Article
Hi,
It looks like you had deleted a bio article for Robert Paulele (Cincinnati Bengals draft pick 2008) back in 2014. I would like to add current relevant NFL related coaching information to his page but it is no longer accessible. Can this article be undeleted please?
Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by DawsonNFL (talk • contribs) 01:10, 9 September 2015 (UTC)
- @DawsonNFL: It is unlikely that the article can be restored without the subject's notability being demonstrated in terms of meeting criteria at WP:BASIC, WP:NCOLLATH or WP:NGRIDIRON. The Robert Paulele article has been deleted a total of four times (click on the red link to review the deletion history). The deletion I performed was per consensus at the deletion discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Robert Paulele. North America1000 01:16, 9 September 2015 (UTC)

Recent changes
- There is now an experimental Wikimedia maps service. You can give feedback here. [9][10]
- Last week a few issues with UploadWizard were fixed. Before this was done, UploadWizard would stop you from uploading your files if something went wrong. [11][12][13][14]
- More Wikipedias can now use information from any Wikidata item in any Wikipedia article. Previously they could only use the Wikidata item that matched the subject of the article. [15]
- The VisualEditor welcome dialogue has been changed. The intention is to make it more helpful for new users. [16]
Problems
- Wikimedia Labs' HTTPS certificate expired for most of Tuesday 15 September. To reach Wikimedia Labs and Tool Labs securely you had to ignore your browser's security error message. There was no risk to data security during this time. [17]
- Last week the notification system was split into two parts. This was temporarily undone because of a bug and performance concerns. It will return to two parts this week. [18][19]
- UploadWizard couldn't upload files larger than 5 MB when using chunked uploads. This has now been fixed. [20]
Changes this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from September 22. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis from September 23. It will be on all Wikipedias from September 24 (calendar).
- The page move tool has been switched over to the new standard look for forms. [21]
- You can now choose whether to extend a link or not when editing one in VisualEditor. This means it is easier to choose how much of what you type before and after the link is part of it. [22]
- Wikibooks can now use data from Wikidata. [23]
Meetings

High diving
I have added more text. It is now worth posting on DYK.--Nvvchar. 02:12, 9 September 2015 (UTC)
- @Nvvchar: Thanks for your significant additions to High diving. Per my calculations, the article has not quite been expanded five-fold to qualify for DYK, as per WP:WIADYK. Prior to TAFI's collaboration, the article had 822 characters, (link), and presently (as of this post) has 3358 characters (diff). The article needs to pass 4110 characters to qualify for DYK. On 16 September 2015, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Shark meat, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Shark meat. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, live views, daily totals), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Weird
I happened to stumble upon the user User:Northamerica1001, a rather blatant impersonator of you, it would seem, who made some edits in 2012 and then stopped editing altogether. Just letting you know in case you want to block him or something. Everymorning (talk) 03:40, 16 September 2015 (UTC)
- @Everymorning: Thanks for the notice. It could simply be someone who wanted to use such a user name, but upon noting that it was taken, then changed a digit. There's not much to go on, but from their contribution history, it does not appear that they were trying to impersonate me. Then again, maybe they were. FPT Group: Revision history
Hello, Northamerica1000. You hid some revisions on this page due to a copyright violation. Would you mind taking a quick look at it, please? I noticed there is one revision (23 February 2015) that is still visible, even though it is surrounded by revisions that were hidden. According to the edit summary, it must be quite similar to the version that preceded it, so I was wondering whether it was intentional to have this revision still visible? Thanks! – Wdchk (talk) 12:51, 17 September 2015 (UTC)
- @Wdchk: Done. Revdeleted the 07:01, 23 February 2015 version. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. North America1000 12:56, 17 September 2015 (UTC)
Please undelete Art strike
Hiya, can you undelete Art Strike please - if you google it you will find it is a significant, if somewhat obscure avant-garde, art movement/practice. I am creating some resources over on Wikiversity and there was some discussion on this, see https://en.wikiversity.org/wiki/Talk:Art_movements/Avant-Garde/Art_Strike
Also if you search within Wikipedia, there are lots of mentions of the art strike on other pages, eg artists pages and art event pages, showing that this is a real, notable and documented phenomenon and would serve the purposes of WP to have its own page. see https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?search=%22art+strike%22&title=Special%3ASearch&go=Go
Would be greatly appreciated. My main reason is that I want to do some work on Wikidata with avant-garde/ modernist/ anti-art etc for a workshop on the 100th anniversary of Dada... Thanks in advance, Dx (talk) 07:07, 16 September 2015 (UTC)
- @Dx: After several source searches, there are some sources that provide significant coverage about the topic from reliable sources to qualify the topic's notability. A problem with the version of the article that was deleted was that most of the content was not sourced (it only had one source and inline citation). I am willing to userfy the article to your userspace, but strongly recommend basing an article upon what reliable sources state about the topic and concept, using inline citations to verify the content.
- The following are some of the sources I found: [24] (scroll down), [25] (scroll down), [26], [27], [28], [29]. North America1000 07:31, 16 September 2015 (UTC)

How to request file moving?
Hello, Northamerica1000, are there any pages around Wikipedia that request file moving? If not, may you create and establish such a page please? Well, there is a request page for page protection, where non-admins can request for page protection, but there isn't one for file moving, I don't think. Qwertyxp2000 (talk | contribs) 10:48, 17 September 2015 (UTC)
- Hello @Qwertyxp2000:
- To request a file name change, use the {{Rename media}} template, which lists nominated articles at Category:Wikipedia files requiring renaming.
- Note that per Wikipedia:File mover, "Files uploaded to Commons cannot be renamed by Wikipedia administrators or filemovers". In other words, files hosted at Wikimedia Commons have to be dealt with at Commons.
