Regarding Niruben Amin Page

Hi Nizil Shah,

I am approaching you with regards to a few statements noticed in the Early Life section of Niruben Amin page. Regarding two statements that say, “She was married but later separated from her husband” and “During her final college year, her husband died under suspicion of suicide,” I had talked with the author (Peter Flugel) of the academic source provided for these statements. I had recently e-mailed him asking to change or remove them from his scholarly works in good faith, as they seem to be against her real-life story. Well, he has replied that he will consider doing so in future publications. He cannot do anything about old publications, perhaps as that needs republishing, which is a time-consuming affair. So, can you consider removing these two statements from her page? Can the due and undue weight policy of Wikipedia, specifying that a viewpoint held by small minority even if proved is considered non-substantial, be applied here?Dipalig (talk) 10:58, 12 January 2021 (UTC)

@Dipalig:, thank you for contacting me. These two sentences does not fall under undue weight policy because it is not about viewpoints. Flugel had told you that he will "consider" your opinion but has not accepted it or have not published it either. We can not cite such conversation as a reference. You had only asked him to to change or remove them from his scholarly works in "good faith", as they seem to be "against her real-life story." I don't understand why did you asked him to remove it in "good faith". Are two sentences which you have mentioned true? Nizil (talk) 14:13, 12 January 2021 (UTC)
Really appreciate your prompt reply. However, I wish to inform you that you have misunderstood what I am trying to say. ‘In good faith’, here, means without accusing the author of his work (being humane) while convincing him to have faith in what I was telling him about Niruma’s life incidents and their impact on the followers. It is not humane to hurt the author’s work sentiments in order to convince him. While conveying to the author, I did not want to blame or accuse him, which means keeping good faith in him that he will understand my talks. Yes, we cannot cite such conversation as reference. However, I am sharing it with you only for your reference, as you have been reverting the removal of these sentences quite frequently by stating that the source is academic. I have also stated that the author shared his consent to consider not adding such statements in future publications. It is obvious that he will not go ahead and take the pain of removing from his existing works. So, if the author has understood and is willing to not use such statements in future publications, then why should we spread something non-substantial about a spiritual lady who is popular even after leaving the mortal body? So, I had requested you to consider removing ONLY those statements from Wiki page, nothing else! Dipalig (talk) 15:12, 12 January 2021 (UTC)
You have not answered my last question. Are these two sentences true? Please keep your answer short and clear. Nizil (talk) 16:31, 12 January 2021 (UTC)
Those two statements are not true.Dipalig (talk) 17:18, 12 January 2021 (UTC)
How do you know that these two statements are not true? Any sources or references? -Nizil (talk) 03:04, 13 January 2021 (UTC)
Ask anybody else who know the lady and you will not get these statements. This is mass view that these statements are not true. It is only Flugel Peter who is conveying these statements due to which we tried to approach him. Nowhere else you will find these statements made by anyone else (online and offline sources). It is true that we do not have any source that Wiki believes to be reliable. So, what can be done now?Dipalig (talk) 06:35, 13 January 2021 (UTC)
Mass view/belief can not be taken as an evidence of truth. Flugel had researched the topic and he may have unearthed facts which are unknown to people or are not believed as true by masses. This is what a good scholar do. Has Flugel accepted that these statements are false and he made up himself? He can retract these statements as a falsehood. I don't find that he ever accepted these as falsehood in an email communication with you. Without any reference which prove these statements are false or Flugel retracts them in his original publication, we should not remove these sentences just because these are not a mass belief. According to WP:CENSOR, Wikipedia is not censored. I hope it clarifies.-Nizil (talk) 07:13, 13 January 2021 (UTC)
I have emailed Flugel and awaiting his reply. -Nizil (talk) 07:42, 13 January 2021 (UTC)
See Talk:Niruben Amin#Husband death. I have removed the text for now. He told me that there is no counter-evidence for it. But he suggested me to remove it "to prevent further aggravation and email traffic." So I have removed it. Please note that other editors may feel otherwise and can reinstate it. I have left note on Talkpage. I want clarify that he has not accepted those sentences as "false". So according to him, these are true. Regards, Nizil (talk) 13:33, 13 January 2021 (UTC)
Thank you Nizil Shah for considering this case. I am also grateful to the author. However, I just want to bring to your notice that of the two statements for which the issue was raised, only the one related to suicide has been removed. The other statement, She was married., is still there. Further your rephrasing still retain the meaning that she was married.Dipalig (talk) 14:13, 13 January 2021 (UTC)
Was she not married? Is it false? -Nizil (talk) 17:43, 13 January 2021 (UTC)
Yes, she was not married.Dipalig (talk) 06:49, 14 January 2021 (UTC)
So, will you please consider removing those sentences? Awaiting your response... Dipalig (talk) 12:48, 21 January 2021 (UTC)
I have removed it too. I think the issue will be handled by more experienced editors now onwards. I will ping relevant noticeboards regarding the issue. One point should be noted that there is no evidence (citation) of your claims. And even Flugel have told that there is no counter-evidence. So I have removed referenced information without any counter-evidence or citation. Only you have claimed that it is false but have not produced any evidence (citation) so far. These facts can be reinserted without your consultation or ignoring above discussion. Do not take this discussion as a final judgement on the issue. Until there is a counter-evidence, we have removed what were cited facts. One question is: how do you know that these sentences are false? Regards,-Nizil (talk) 14:43, 21 January 2021 (UTC)
It is not only me who is saying that these statements regarding marriage are false. There are many others who have removed these sentences. You have already mentioned about it at Talk:Niruben Amin#Husband death. I know these statements are false is because I have met Niruben Amin in 2005 and learned about all her life events. Yes, I do not have any academic source for the same. Still, "she is married" statement is there. So, need to remove that as well.Dipalig (talk) 06:34, 22 January 2021 (UTC)

WikiCup 2021 March newsletter

Round 1 of the competition has finished; it was a high-scoring round with 21 contestants scoring more than 100 points. Everyone with a positive score moves on to Round 2, with 55 contestants qualifying. You will need to finish among the top thirty-two contestants in Round 2 if you are to qualify for Round 3. Our top scorers in Round 1 were:

  • New York (state) Epicgenius led the field with a featured article, nine good articles and an assortment of other submissions, specialising on buildings and locations in New York, for a total of 945 points.
  • Republic of Venice Bloom6132 was close behind with 896 points, largely gained from 71 "In the news" items, mostly recent deaths.
  • Scotland ImaginesTigers, who has been editing Wikipedia for less than a year, was in third place with 711 points, much helped by bringing League of Legends to featured article status, exemplifying how bonus points can boost a contestant's score.
  • Rwanda Amakuru came next with 708 points, Kigali being another featured article that scored maximum bonus points.
  • Ktin, new to the WikiCup, was in fifth place with 523 points, garnered from 15 DYKs and 34 "In the news" items.
  • Botswana The Rambling Man scored 511 points, many from featured article candidate reviews and from football related DYKs.
  • Gog the Mild, last year's runner-up, came next with 498 points, from a featured article and numerous featured article candidate reviews.
  • Hog Farm, at 452, scored for a featured article, four good articles and a number of reviews.
  • United States Le Panini, another newcomer to the WikiCup, scored 438 for a featured article and three good articles.
  • England Lee Vilenski, last year's champion, scored 332 points, from a featured article and various other sport-related topics.

These contestants, like all the others, now have to start again from scratch. In Round 1, contestants achieved eight featured articles, three featured lists and one featured picture, as well as around two hundred DYKs and twenty-seven ITNs. They completed 97 good article reviews, nearly double the 52 good articles they claimed. Contestants also claimed for 135 featured article and featured list candidate reviews. There is no longer a requirement to mention your WikiCup participation when undertaking these reviews.

Remember that any content promoted after the end of Round 1 but before the start of Round 2 can be claimed in Round 2. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is a good article candidate, a featured process, or something else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews.

If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to keep down the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! Review

Hi. Can you review my three articles if possible? : Naveen Deshaboina, Nitin Bali & Hum Tum Ek Kamre Mein Band Ho. Thanks.Imfarhad7 (talk) 19:04, 15 April 2021 (UTC)

Regarding Naveen Deshaboina, he has directed only one film, but I think, he passes WP:GNG as well as Wikipedia:FILMMAKER criteria 3 & 4. So I created his article.Imfarhad7 (talk) 20:13, 15 April 2021 (UTC)
@Imfarhad7: I think Naveen does not passes WP:Filmmaker yet. One award winning film is not enough to have an independent article in my opinion. It can be redirected to the film article. If he creates more films in future, the article can be recreated. One film work is too early to be notable imo. Rest two articles are marked reviewed. Nizil (talk) 04:49, 16 April 2021 (UTC)
Hi Nizil. Thanks for your reply. As per your suggestion I have created the article of the film. See, Lata Bhagwan Kare (film). If possible, please review it. A deletion discussion is taking place for Naveen Deshaboina. I have no problem with deletion. But, Naveen Deshaboina, as you said, should be redirected to Lata Bhagwan Kare (film), So, it can be created in future. Imfarhad7 (talk) 05:29, 17 April 2021 (UTC)

WikiCup 2021 May newsletter

The second round of the 2021 WikiCup has now finished; it was a high-scoring round and contestants needed 61 points to advance to Round 3. There were some impressive efforts in the round, with the top eight contestants all scoring more than 400 points. A large number of the points came from the 12 featured articles and the 110 good articles achieved in total by contestants, as well as the 216 good article reviews they performed; the GAN backlog drive and the stay-at-home imperative during the COVID-19 pandemic may have been partially responsible for these impressive figures.

Our top scorers in Round 2 were:

  • Botswana The Rambling Man, with 2963 points from three featured articles, 20 featured article reviews, 37 good articles, 73 good article reviews, as well as 22 DYKs.
  • New York (state) Epicgenius, with 1718 points from one featured article, 29 good articles, 16 DYKs and plenty of bonus points.
  • Republic of Venice Bloom6132, with 990 points from 13 DYKs and 64 "In the news" items, mostly recent deaths.
  • Hog Farm, with 834 points from two featured articles, five good articles, 14 featured article reviews and 15 good article reviews.
  • England Gog the Mild, with 524 points from two featured articles and four featured article reviews.
  • England Lee Vilenski, with 501 points from one featured article, three good articles, six featured article reviews and 25 good article reviews.
  • Sammi Brie, with 485 points from four good articles, eight good article reviews and 27 DYKs, on US radio and television stations.
  • Ktin, with 436 points from four good articles, seven DYKs and 11 "In the news" items.

Please remember that DYKs cannot be claimed until they have appeared on the main page. As we enter the third round, any content promoted after the end of Round 2 but before the start of Round 3 can be claimed now, and anything you forgot to claim in Round 2 cannot! Remember too, that you must claim your points within 14 days of "earning" them (except for at the end of each round, when you must claim them before the cut-off date/time). When doing GARs, please make sure that you check that all the GA criteria are fully met.

If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article nominations, a featured process, or anything else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed (remember to remove your listing when no longer required). Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. about Dursa Arha page

Hi, I tried to get information from diff sources about Dursa Arha and added it. But now I see that it's all reverted. May I know the reasons behind it as I had also added references in the article? Can u suggest some better ways to edit the article and point out my mistakes?

Thank You Krayon95 (talk) 18:04, 3 May 2021 (UTC)

@Krayon95:, thank you for reaching out to me.
  • You had changed title adding honorifics like Rashtra Kavi etc. and else where using Ji etc. which are against guidelines at WP:NCIN. There should be no honorifics.
  • Some paragrahs had no references so they can not be verified as true.
  • You had used exoticindia and charan.org as references which do not qualify as reliable sources per WP:RS. Scholarly sources are considered as the best. So the text supported by those references is reverted.
  • You had used devotional/fan-like language which is not academic in nature or neutral.
These are few reasons for revert. Please go through well referenced article like Malik Muhammad Jayasi or Padmavat to understand style and referencing. Your edits are welcome. Please go through Help:Your first article. Regards,-Nizil (talk) 05:31, 4 May 2021 (UTC)

Photographs

Hi Nizil. I am going on photography tour of Ahmedabad tomorrow morning. I would visit the old city and will click mostly photographs of tombs and mosques. Can you please suggest me some important building, tombs, and mosques which have Wikipage and have no (good) photograph. You have contributed a lot to the culture of Gujarat. So you would have better idea than me. Can you please review my two new pages: Draft:Mehul Surti and Draft:Raunaq Kamdar. Thanks. Imfarhad7 (talk) 14:19, 26 April 2021 (UTC)

@Imfarhad7: Sorry, I am bit late in answering your question. You can use Commons app which has a map of geotagged places to easily find places to photograph. (Turn on GPS in phone while using that app) Category:Mosques in Ahmedabad , Category:Tombs in Ahmedabad, Category:Religious buildings and structures in Ahmedabad are mostly located in old city. List of Monuments of National Importance in Ahmedabad district has many important places listed and many of them have no images or old images only. Manek Chowk (Ahmedabad) is one of the important place where tombs of Maneknath and Mandalika III are located but we have no images of them.-Nizil (talk) 06:33, 27 April 2021 (UTC)
I was waiting for your reply. I will click some of them today evening. I will try Commons app you suggested. Thanks. Imfarhad7 (talk) 06:38, 27 April 2021 (UTC)
@Imfarhad7:, Bhadra Fort is another important place to capture images. Azam Khan Sarai and Bhdrakali Temple have no new images. Wikipedia:Wikipedia Takes Ahmedabad might have some important tips, routes and places listed.-Nizil (talk) 06:48, 27 April 2021 (UTC)
@Imfarhad7:, always submit completed draft for reviews. I have moved them now but draft submission is good practise. Please do add talkpages with relevant wikiprojects to articles you have created. It helps in categorising them and manage them better. Otherwise you are doing good. Keep contributing. -Nizil (talk) 07:02, 27 April 2021 (UTC)
I will click those images from Manek Chowk and Bhadra fort. Next time I will submit my drafts for review. Thanks for the reviews and for your kind words. You are an inspiration for newbie like me. Added talk page in both articles. Thanks. Imfarhad7 (talk) 07:45, 27 April 2021 (UTC)

DYK for Tagore Memorial Hall

On 27 May 2021, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Tagore Memorial Hall, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that a memorial hall in Ahmedabad has a 12-by-24-foot (3.7 m × 7.3 m) stainless-steel portrait of Rabindranath Tagore on an exterior wall? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Tagore Memorial Hall. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Tagore Memorial Hall), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

@Whispyhistory:, it is perfectly fine. Nothing to worry. Even I had left it incomplete. Please do what you love and feel motivated about. It was just a request. I will complete it some other day or publish it with incomplete tag. Cheers. -Nizil (talk) 07:36, 15 June 2021 (UTC)

Gujarati Magazine article

Hi Nizil! Thank you for creating the article on Gujarati (magazine) published by Iccharam Desai and sons. I am a researcher and want to find a copy of the magazine. But I am not able to find any sources. Did you find about it in the Library of Congress? Or somewhere else? I am in the US and can also travel to the library if required. Can you please email me any info at noopur dot raval at gmail? Thank you! Noopur28 (talk) 19:32, 1 July 2021 (UTC)

(talk page watcher) Hi Noopur28. The physical copies of this magazine are available at four places in Gujarat: Gujarat Vidyapith library, Gujarati Sahitya Parishad library, Gujarat Vidhya Sabha library, and Forbes Gujarati Sabha library. --Gazal world (talk) 20:11, 1 July 2021 (UTC)
Thanks, @Gazal world: for answering. @Noopur28:, I don't know about its presence at Library of Congress. As it is Gujarati-language magazine, you can find it above mentioned libraries in Gujarat, India.-Nizil (talk) 05:54, 2 July 2021 (UTC)

Please also remember that you must claim your points within 14 days of "earning" them (one contestant in round 3 lost out because of this). When doing GARs, please make sure that you check that all the GA criteria are fully met.

Reviews

Hi. If possible, can you please review these two articles: Draft:Vijay Ganguly and Draft:Instagram for Dentists. The first one was created by someone else and it was declined by the reviewers. I have improved it with new references and it is now notable enough. Thanks. Imfarhad7 (talk) 17:52, 13 June 2021 (UTC)

@Imfarhad7:, we do soon.-Nizil (talk) 07:36, 15 June 2021 (UTC)
Vijay Ganguly  Done.-Nizil (talk) 08:01, 15 June 2021 (UTC)
I am yet to check another article. Is this book passes WP:NBOOK?-Nizil (talk) 08:06, 15 June 2021 (UTC)
"Insider knowledge to excel in social media" ref is not a review per se. Other BDJ review by Dickens is OK. We need more reviews to pass WP:NBOOK criteria#1. Regards,-Nizil (talk) 08:13, 15 June 2021 (UTC)
Oh. I understood. I will try to add other reviews in the book article. Thanks for reviewing Vijay Ganguly. Currently, working on 2 - 3 articles on Gujarati films. Thanks.Imfarhad7 (talk) 08:53, 15 June 2021 (UTC)
Please review my new article Draft:Jayesh Trivedi. Imfarhad7 (talk) 12:13, 7 July 2021 (UTC)
@Imfarhad7:, Draft:Jayesh Trivedi lacks good references. The first offline reference is WP:RS (I can not verify this offline source but agree in good faith). Divyabhaskar and Midday refs are not reference "about" Trivedi but "about films". So they can be supportive refs but do not contribute to notability of Trivedi. Cinestan/ToI refs are just film entries which do not qualify WP:RS. So we are left with only one ref which is too low to establish his notability. We need more refs "about him". Bawari film related refs are more appropriate for notability of film, not him. Find and add more refs. Please don't be discouraged. Always find good number of refs before starting work on an article. The article fails WP:DIRECTOR in my opinion right now. His only "somewhat" notable work is Bawari. Please try to find more references. Regards, -Nizil (talk) 06:58, 8 July 2021 (UTC)
Ok. I will wait until new references are available. Thanks for your help. Imfarhad7 (talk) 20:21, 8 July 2021 (UTC)
@Imfarhad7: Can you click an image of Chimney at Calico Mills? It is only things remaining of the mill and considered as the industrial heritage structure. The chimney is visible from Sardar bridge and from riverfront at Jamalpur. The article also have coordinates of the place. Regards,-Nizil (talk) 05:19, 22 July 2021 (UTC)
@Imfarhad7: And Wajihuddin's Tomb too. Coordinates are in the article. -Nizil (talk) 05:11, 24 July 2021 (UTC)
Hi. please see my recent uploads on commons for the photographs you asked. I have a question. Can I create Wiki article of Gujarati singer Kinjal Dave? She has received coverage in Times of India, Indian Express, DeshGujarat, and DNA. Thanks. Imfarhad7 (talk) 16:14, 24 July 2021 (UTC)
@Imfarhad7:, I think Kinjal Dave can be created. There must be enough refs for her. Thanks for images btw. Regards,- Nizil (talk) 07:11, 25 July 2021 (UTC)
I love the images taken by you. Thank you for all the efforts taking them. None has even fulfilled my image requests so good and fast. Regards, Nizil (talk) 07:14, 25 July 2021 (UTC)
You welcome! Feel free to ask me if you want me to click any other images from Ahmedabad. I have created the draft of Draft:Kinjal Dave. I will add the list of albums and singles later today. Please help me to write about court matter. There was a controversy about the song "Char Bangdi Vadi Gadi" which need to be added into article. I have collected the sources about that controversy and put them at the end of "Life and career" section. Some more sources: [1] [2]. Thanks. Imfarhad7 (talk) 23:35, 27 July 2021 (UTC)
Thank for adding those information. I have updated article with the list of albums and singles. I think, it is ready for publishing. Can you please review it? Imfarhad7 (talk) 14:58, 29 July 2021 (UTC)
Draft:Kinjal Dave has been submitted for independent review as it was deleted 3 times in past. Nizil (talk) 08:12, 1 August 2021 (UTC)
@Imfarhad7:, While looking at File:Calico Mills 3.jpg clicked by you recently , Baba Lului's Mosque visible in foreground come to my attention. It is accessible via riverfront, I guess. It has only one poorly shot image. Mir Abu Turab's Tomb is another place in Behrampura. Coordinates in the articles. Would you like to click them? Regards, Nizil (talk) 05:59, 3 August 2021 (UTC)

About Anwar agewan wikipedia

Kindly remove the middlename "Mohammedbhai" from wikipedia of Anwar Agewan https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Anwar_Agewan&action=history.

And his transliteration name and actual name is Amar Agewan. Please change. I am his daughter garima..i would be thankful if you can do the needed. And if you can remove his name from wikipedia i would appreciate more!

Garimap also requested at the help desk that this article be deleted. The only English sources I can find that use Mohammedbhai as Agewan's middle name are copies of the Wikipedia article you wrote. Does the source you added when you created the article say that's his middle name? TimTempleton (talk) (cont) 22:10, 11 August 2021 (UTC)
Yes, the sources clearly says his full name is Anwar Mohammadbhai Agewan. Alternative spelling can be Anvar Agewan. Other offline sources too agree with it. Garimap's claim of being his daughter seems fake or trolling. No transliteration can name him "Amar Agewan". I don't know why she want the article deleted. She has not clarified which "few of the information is incorrect or lie". Anwar is Islamic name while Amar is Hindu name. She want his name changed to Hindu name which is not mentioned in any sources and has his father's Islamic name Mohammadbhai removed as well. I believe it is just some kind of trolling. - Nizil (talk) 05:40, 12 August 2021 (UTC)
@Garimap: Please provide references and clarification for above comment. Nizil (talk) 05:42, 12 August 2021 (UTC)
I'm a bit dubious about GujaratiSahityaParishad, because the page includes the phrase "this information has been placed in Wikipedia", and because the oldest version of the page on archive.org is a year younger than your inclusion of "Mohammedbwai" in the article. DS (talk) 17:31, 12 August 2021 (UTC)
See this portion from the book. It doesn't mention directly, but indicates that the person was Muslim. --Gazal world (talk) 23:05, 12 August 2021 (UTC)

That sentence doesn't say he was Muslim. It says no Muslim literati attended his funeral. DS (talk) 23:39, 12 August 2021 (UTC)

@DragonflySixtyseven:, even if we not count Parishad source, other source ગુજરાતી સાહિત્યકોશ: અર્વાચીનકાળ [Encyclopedia of Gujarati Literature: Modern Era] too confirm that his full name was Anwar Mohammadbhai Agewan. So replacing it in lede.-Nizil (talk) 05:08, 14 August 2021 (UTC)
Gujarati Sahitya Parishad is a known Gujarati literary organisation. The short biography of Agewan is posted on their official website page which is used as a reference. They have donated their short biographies to Gujarati Wikipedia so they have posted that it has been uploaded to Wikipedia. The original source is Parishad. -Nizil (talk) 05:13, 14 August 2021 (UTC)
