As a side note, I wouldn't worry too much about him not answering you. If he keeps making edits that others challenge, and refuses to discuss or follow policy, he'll just keep getting blocked. Sergecross73 msg me 23:39, 4 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:Neo Geo logo.svg

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Neo Geo logo.svg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 18:46, 26 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

This image is clearly marked as being non-free. Per terms of our policy at WP:NFCC #9, the use of non-free images outside of article space is not permitted. Please do not restore this image to Template:Bandai Namco franchises or any other non-article page. If you have questions about this, please feel free to let me know. Invitation to WikiProject Portals

[edit]

The Portals WikiProject has been rebooted.

You are invited to join, and participate in the effort to revitalize and improve the Portal system and all the portals in it.

There are sections on the WikiProject page dedicated to tasks (including WikiGnome tasks too), and areas on the talk page for discussing the improvement and automation of the various features of portals.

Many complaints have been lodged in the RfC to delete all portals, pointing out their various problems. They say that many portals are not maintained, or have fallen out of date, are useless, etc. Many of the !votes indicate that the editors who posted them simply don't believe in the potential of portals anymore.

It's time to change all that. Let's give them reasons to believe in portals, by revitalizing them.

The best response to a deletion nomination is to fix the page that was nominated. The further underway the effort is to improve portals by the time the RfC has run its course, the more of the reasons against portals will no longer apply. RfCs typically run 30 days. There are 19 days left in this one. Let's see how many portals we can update and improve before the RfC is closed, and beyond.

A healthy WikiProject dedicated to supporting and maintaining portals may be the strongest argument of all not to delete.

We may even surprise ourselves and exceed all expectations. Who knows what we will be able to accomplish in what may become the biggest Wikicollaboration in years.

Let's do this.

See ya at the WikiProject!

Sincerely,    — The Transhumanist   10:22, 21 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much

[edit]

The RfC discussion to eliminate portals was closed May 12, with the statement "There exists a strong consensus against deleting or even deprecating portals at this time." This was made possible because you and others came to the rescue. Thank you for speaking up.

By the way, the current issue of the Signpost features an article with interviews about the RfC and the Portals WikiProject.

I'd also like to let you know that the Portals WikiProject is working hard to make sure your support of portals was not in vain. Toward that end, we have been working diligently to innovate portals, while building, updating, upgrading, and maintaining them. The project has grown to 80 members so far, and has become a beehive of activity.

Our two main goals at this time are to automate portals (in terms of refreshing, rotating, and selecting content), and to develop a one-page model in order to make obsolete and eliminate most of the 150,000 subpages from the portal namespace by migrating their functions to the portal base pages, using technologies such as selective transclusion. Please feel free to join in on any of the many threads of development at the WikiProject's talk page, or just stop by to see how we are doing. If you have any questions about portals or portal development, that is the best place to ask them.

If you would like to keep abreast of developments on portals, keep in mind that the project's members receive updates on their talk pages. The updates are also posted here, for your convenience.

Again, we can't thank you enough for your support of portals, and we hope to make you proud of your decision. Sincerely,    — The Transhumanist   22:53, 25 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

P.S.: if you reply to this message, please {{ping}} me. Thank you. -TT

Reverting

[edit]

Hey there. While you are right in reverting editors who do not have consensus to make a change on these templates in a general sense, please try to follow WP:BRD as well. They are technically in the wrong for not getting WP:CONSENSUS or violating WP:OR, but you could be in danger of getting a block as well if you keep reverting right along with them and violate WP:3RR or even just WP:EW. ArbCom 2018 election voter message

[edit]

Hello, Namcokid47. Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2018 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 19 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. Template:Pac-Man series

[edit]

Hello! The reason I removed 3-Demon from the template is because there are a dozen Pac-Man clones with Wikipedia articles--maybe twice that. If you want to include them all, then sure, some of them are historically important. 3-Demon is an odd choice if you only want one, being a minor, not particularly notable, release. Cheers! Repeating refs

[edit]

I mentioned it in my City Connection review, but I noticed you doing this elsewhere so wanted to mention here. When you need to use a reference more than once, do not fully type out the ref details with each re-use. Instead do it like this.

Define the footnote in one use:

<ref name="name">content</ref>

Then for every re-ocurrence, just type:

<ref name="name" />

This is preferred because is (A) cuts down on clutter in the source editor and (B) prevents someone from screwing up a ref by changing the author, page, or some other detail in one footnote but note its repeated copies. TarkusABtalk 21:31, 24 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use File:Jaleco headquarter building (JP).png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Jaleco headquarter building (JP).png. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 13:17, 11 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Masanobu Endo (2014).jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free file with a clearly invalid licensing tag; or it otherwise fails some part of the non-free content criteria. If you can find a valid tag that expresses why the file can be used under the fair use guidelines, please replace the current tag with that tag. If no such tag exists, please add the {{Non-free fair use}} tag, along with a brief explanation of why this constitutes fair use of the file. If the file has been deleted, you can re-upload it, but please ensure you place the correct tag on it.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Congrats on Gee Bee!

[edit]

Hey, congratulations on getting Gee Bee to GA! Finding sources on any 1970s game is really hard, and finding sources on arcade games is hard, so finding sources on 1970s arcade games is really, really hard! It's pretty impressive to get a GA from that time period. Let me know if you ever work on another game in the 70s- I've focused more on early 70s computer and Atari arcade games, and you seem more interested in late 70s and early 80s games, but I've learned about a few sources that overlap a bit, so I can throw them your way if you need. --PresN 20:17, 2 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you! I really appreciate it. In the future I plan on working on Galaxian, Cutie Q and Submarine, all by Namco and from 1979. Galaxian will likely be a lot easier due to its importance and large recognition, while the others should be pretty difficult. I'll see what I can do. Namcokid47 (talk) 20:26, 2 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

To also join the congrats line! I hope you will be able to save Cutie Q, since I have thought about proposing a merge with Gee Bee before it was promoted. In this state it absolutely doesn't meet WP:GNG, and there is 0 coverage to be found (even the AllGame link seems to be MIA in archives!). Not surprised for a Japan-only release, but still. Maybe it could be merged to Gee Bee#Reception and legacy? Jovanmilic97 (talk) 21:07, 3 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I did find a few reliable sources for Cutie Q yesterday, so I might actually be able to save it. Reception might be easier as it was included in a few Namco Museum collections, and many of the reviews I've seen for it do briefly cover it, so I'll see what I can do. Many thanks! Good to hear! I have found this [1] if it helps (everything else in the searches seems to be a passing mention, sadly), but I am guessing you've already found it. Again thanks for the hard work on subjects for which sources are not so easy to find around! Good luck. Jovanmilic97 (talk) 21:14, 3 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, I have never seen that before. Good find. The Japanese Wikipedia page also has a few sources which I'll try using as well. Namcokid47 (talk) 21:20, 3 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
