Good article reassessment for Forth (programming language)
[edit]Forth (programming language) has been nominated for a good article reassessment. If you are interested in the discussion, please participate by adding your comments to the reassessment page. If concerns are not addressed during the review period, the good article status may be removed from the article. ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 17:14, 13 January 2024 (UTC)
Saturn vs Sega Saturn
[edit]I made a change at Steam-Heart's after your recent edit. "Saturn" is shorthand, so first mention, and the infobox should still read "Sega Saturn" when possible. Treat it like "Nintendo Switch". TarkusABtalk/contrib 16:45, 28 January 2024 (UTC)
Thanks, TarkusAB. It's easy to forget which system names are shortened and which aren't. Sega Saturn isn't, Master System is, for example. Dgpop (talk) 04:26, 30 January 2024 (UTC)
Edit request for Anthony Wood
[edit]Hi Dgpop, I am employed by Roku and I am working to expand the page of Roku's founder, Anthony Wood (businessman). I see that you are interested in video games and computer history, and I hope you will consider implementing the edit request I posted at Talk: Anthony Wood (businessman)#Expand career section which mentions Wood's work on Lunar Lander and Commodore Amiga. Thank you, YZ for Roku (talk) 21:18, 14 February 2024 (UTC)
Thanks!
[edit]Thanks for getting my edit to the citizen's arrest law reverted because I apparently used "copyrighted" material known as the LAW OF THE LAND... so useful, thanks so much for your help. You're a credit to WP... FFS Apeholder (talk) 17:39, 21 March 2024 (UTC)
Hi Apeholder. I removed the phrase "it should be noted that" based on the WP manual of style (MOS:NOTED). You don't need to note that you're going to note something, just note it. I don't know anything about the copyrighted material you mention. Dgpop (talk) 16:02, 23 March 2024 (UTC)
OR tag in Atari 1050
[edit]You posted an OR tag in the Atari 1050 article in May, but did not indicate what you think is OR in the article, the checkin note, or the talk page. Can you post something on the Talk:Atari 1050 page to explain the issue? Thanks! Maury Markowitz (talk) 12:34, 16 October 2024 (UTC)
Done. In retrospect I could have flagged ~4 things instead of using an article-level tag. Dgpop (talk) 15:01, 16 October 2024 (UTC)
Space Dungeon Release Date
[edit]Hi, Dgpop. I recently made an edit to the page for Space Dungeon and added some sources for its release date. I understand that my source for a July '82 date perhaps left little to be desired. My only concerns with how the page currently stands are 1) listing the game as having released in 1981, and 2) describing the game as predating Robotron: 2084. In looking at the sources used to derive the game's release date in the article, neither of them say where they got the date; I suspect they only give 1981 as the release date because of the game's copyright.
On the other hand, the game is described as being new in the July 15th, '82 issue of Play Meter, all of the flyers for the game are from '82, and the game is reviewed in the "New Products" section of the August 15th, '82 issue of Play Meter. Meanwhile, Robotron was the cover story for the April 15th, '82 issue of Play Meter. I was not able to find a single mention of Space Dungeon in any of Play Meter's 1981 issues that I have access to.
I understand that trying to pin down release dates for old games (especially arcade games) is very difficult, but I hope you will at least consider updating the game's release date to 1982. NicktheNESHero (talk) 00:50, 7 November 2024 (UTC)
Hi Nick! That Space Dungeon is mentioned in the New Products section of the Aug. 1982 Play Meter is super interesting—good find!—and it's worth trying to find other sources to nail that down. At the moment all the usual WP-reliable sources are saying 1981, so editors are going to keep flipping the date back to 1981 unless there's a solid reference. Magazine mentions are squishy, because lead time can be several months (but still, yes, it was an August issue), and they only confirm when the editor decided to talk about a game.
