September 27
Thanks for the clarification. Would you call this a reliable source though? Deb (talk) 12:14, 16 November 2019 (UTC)
- For the record, Deb is referring to an edit I made on the DOY page for September 27 ([1]), adding actress Jenna Ortega to the births list. She reverted my edit, indicating she couldn't access the reference[1] used in the entry. I had to check what she meant, since the reference used, which is also used to back the birthday in the article about Ortega, had both an archived version, from WebCitation, and an original version, which is a dead link. As to being a reliable source, this was an official biographical piece found at Disney ABC Press, now known as Walt Disney Television Press (external link to that site), when Ortega was starring in Stuck in the Middle. I'm seeing no flag as to the reliability. I will ping IJBall, Amaury and Geraldo Perez to see if they have any problem with this source. MPFitz1968 (talk) 16:19, 16 November 2019 (UTC)
- It's WP:PRIMARY, but it certainly should be acceptable for bio info such as a DOB. --IJBall (contribs • talk) 16:22, 16 November 2019 (UTC)
- Definitely acceptable, Disney Press is a reliable source of bio info on actors that appear in their shows. Geraldo Perez (talk) 16:51, 16 November 2019 (UTC)

@Deb: Courtesy ping. Just wondering if you saw this discussion yet. MPFitz1968 (talk) 18:48, 20 November 2019 (UTC)
- Sorry - yes, I did. It was a completely genuine question about the source and I'm happy to accept it if others feel it's reliable. Deb (talk) 19:12, 20 November 2019 (UTC)
Please keep an extra eye on this one – I'm worried this IP may get disruptive here. Thanks. --IJBall (contribs • talk) 21:47, 23 November 2019 (UTC)
- @IJBall: Their last edit actually didn't remove the references column in the table. Just the citation needed tags that they were upset about. MPFitz1968 (talk) 22:00, 23 November 2019 (UTC)
- The IP, however, changed the title of the section from "Awards and nominations" to "Accolades"
(and it had been titled just "Awards" before the IP made any edit today). Not sure whether it should stay "Accolades". MPFitz1968 (talk) 22:11, 23 November 2019 (UTC)- Should be 'Awards and nominations' IMO. --IJBall (contribs • talk) 03:31, 24 November 2019 (UTC)

I'll happily accept whichever way this goes, but this requires a stronger consensus than just 2 to 1, and I would be saying the same if it were the other way, so more opinions would definitely be welcome. MPFitz1968, could you keep an eye on this article for the next little while? An editor is changing the airdate for the graduation episode here, claiming it's wrong, but they don't understand how WP:BURDEN works – they need to prove that the current airdate is wrong with a WP:RS. (FWIW, I'm pretty sure it's not wrong, and that NBC deliberately kept the graduation episode back until May 1993. Regardless, IMDb is certainly WP:NOTRS for this kind of edit...) Thanks. --IJBall (contribs • talk) 13:32, 24 February 2020 (UTC)

Sorry I understand now, only one link per page for the artist/album. I thought that Billboard may be an exception as I see it helpful for me when I see a link for each week. I can understand an argument for both sides and will check in the future to make sure not to duplicate links. I am very sorry for the inconvenience I caused. - @IJBall: Done. Was patient since you brought this up, but now more vandalism at the article - plus a couple of unsourced edits indicating a potential series in the U.S. that could be on Disney+. Removing the list of stations that aired Punky Brewster in first-run syndication (Seasons 3-4)
Please explain to me why you felt compelled to quickly remove them even though I provided as many sources and references as I possibly could to verify the information? Punky Brewster did after-all, produce two additional seasons after its NBC cancellation following the 1985-86 season. And you said that Wikipedia is not "#TVGuide". Well, in that same section, it states that "although mention of major events, promotions or historically significant program lists and schedules may be acceptable." This list of stations to have broadcast Punky Brewster are not current, given that this was from over 30 years ago. It isn't like people who see at the list are going immediately or automatically assume that the stations are currently airing Punky Brewster like they did back in 1986-88. There is an individual article on the list of NBC affiliates (the network that first broadcast Punky Brewster) so a list of syndicated affiliates in a that regard, shouldn't be so different. BornonJune8 (talk) 02:45, 6 March 2020 (UTC)
Some further sources mentioning Punky Brewster airing in first-run syndication:
BornonJune8 (talk) 02:53, 6 March 2020 (UTC)
- @BornonJune8: I advise you to look at "What Wikipedia is not" to get an idea of what is not allowed in articles (or shouldn't be in articles, as I'm sure there are some that violate this policy). Was a pretty easy and quick decision to remove the TV stations from the article. Wikipedia doesn't serve as a TV guide, even if there are sources to back the stations you put into the article. MPFitz1968 (talk) 03:21, 7 March 2020 (UTC)
- And yet, nothing in "What Wikipedia is not" does it literally state that Wikipedia doesn't serve as a TV guide. It does however as I addressed prior state "although mention of major events, promotions or HISTORICALLY significant program lists and schedules may be acceptable." And if you say "As I'm sure there are some that violate this policy", you're merely going or basing things on what's subjective or a strictly personal assumption or instinct feeling. BornonJune8 (talk) 05:44, 7 March 2020 (UTC)
- You absolutely don't need the list all the stations – doing that is certainly WP:INDISCRIMINATE. If there is a source, or multiple sources, that list all the stations that broadcast the show, that is entirely sufficient. Then you could add something to the prose like,
"The series was syndicated to television stations in 25 cities, covering 65% of the United States.[source(s)]"
Problem solved. --IJBall (contribs • talk) 17:05, 7 March 2020 (UTC) - @IJBall: Again, saying that I don't need to list all of the stations comes across as very subjective. And doesn't your own suggestion fall under the section "Wikipedia articles should not be: Summary-only descriptions of works." How exactly is simply saying that the series was syndicated to TV stations in 25 cities, covering 65% of the US" going to properly explain the manner of which Punky Brewster was syndicated? Don't you think that people would quite logically or rationally want to know exactly which stations carried it within that context? And the list that I created wasn't even the entire list of stations (for example, I didn't list major cities like New York or Philadelphia) that broadcast Punky Brewster. Those were the only sources that I could find thus far, so even so, that list isn't even that long. I don't understand why it would be so problematic to combine your summary and then add the list of affiliates to give the prose from proper context instead of being so vague. Not everybody is going to take what particular prose that you suggested on its word if they aren't given a clearer idea behind its meaning. Plus, Punky Brewster was broadcast in a different manner than it was when it was on NBC. I believe that it was broadcast in a "five days a week" type of format. Of course with syndication, it doesn't follow a uniform type of schedule as we see on a major broadcast network. In other words, they don't always air at the exact same time and even sometimes, on the exact day of the week. BornonJune8 (talk) 01:16, 8 March 2020 (UTC)
- @IJBall: This old thread on SitcomsOnline regarding the exact local stations that aired Punky Brewster during its third and fourth seasons, is evidence in itself that there are people out there who are curious about a list of stations that carried it during that time period. BornonJune8 (talk) 03:02, 8 March 2020 (UTC)

Keep it spotless
I’m sorry that you feel I’m engaging in disruptive editing, but you said yourself that the show is assumed to be over, and it is listed as a former Nickelodeon show, I’m simply using proper grammar, there is no need for all this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 97.80.116.211 (talk) 21:06, 25 March 2020 (UTC)
- @97.80.116.211: I recommend you read the guidelines I mentioned in my revert, MOS:TVNOW and MOS:TENSE. It is not correct to say
Keep It Spotless was an American competition television program
. The show continues to exist even after it produces no additional episodes, and present tense is used for the fact that it still exists. The past tense part comes after that part of the sentence, normally where it is mentioned about when it premiered or aired (I have since updated the lead sentence to indicate that it's no longer airing [3]). Something for when you're bored
If you're ever bored and have some time on your hands and feel like doing a "project," you could go through all of the pages listed at User:Amaury/sandbox#General Maintenance and make sure any person, entity, etc. is linked to once in each section they appear in. For more recently premiered series, it should be okay, though it never hurts to check, but you may remember I went through a period where I was really strict on WP:OVERLINKING and only linked to whatever once in the entire article. Some of those articles are still in that version. Not necessarily from me, but there could also be pages where a link to a name is pointing to the wrong person. List of Henry Danger episodes
It was mentionned the date of series finale:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2020_Kids%27_Choice_Awards
http://www.thefutoncritic.com/listings/2020/03/22/
Why you have deleted my edit? --41.92.5.231 (talk) 16:03, 1 April 2020 (UTC)
- @41.92.5.231: The current version of Futon you link here does not show anything about Henry Danger in the schedule. You need to find another source which explicitly mentions March 22 as the date it would have aired, or possibly an archived version of the Futon source prior to the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards being postponed. Keep in mind IJBall's revert in the article as well; should be listed under the Broadcast section of the parent article, as the changes to the scheduled broadcast, in light of current world events, are more relevant there. Andi Mack
I'm probably going to need your help here. Ping Geraldo Perez as well. There's a reason we don't list the tracks used in movies like Zombies or Zombies 2. This is no different. I would ping IJBall as well, but he has no interest in this article, so I won't bother him with this. Amaury • 04:56, 2 April 2020 (UTC)
Do you or IJBall want to take a stab at trimming the summary for the season finale? It currently clocks out at a whopping 521 words. Michael, unless you're willing to purchase the individual episode on Amazon, I realize you'd be doing this blind, but I'm sure you could still significantly shorten it just by removing unnecessary words, for example. Keep in mind the season finale is a double-length special, so we can go more with 200–400 words, but still, for a simple comedy like this that's not complex like Andi Mack, in general, it should be easy to do about 150 words for a double-length special, I would guess. Add: The summary was written by Rtkat, who we know has a bad habit of either overwriting or underwriting, and we never know which one it's going to be it. For me personally, I'd rather have summaries that go over the recommended limit as at least then I know for sure they aren't copyright violations, but even so... Amaury • 02:29, 10 April 2020 (UTC)

Hello! Thanks for the input on JoJo's sexuality. However, the interview is with JoJo herself and she not only stated she was "into" the threesome but also is "open to whatever." She also states "this was all my doing" in reference to initiating the threesome and that she "premeditated it from the beginning of the night, pretty much." A person who not only had sex with another woman as well as a man and enjoyed it is by definition bisexual. Sexual attraction toward and enjoyment of sexual intimacy with people of two genders makes the person, by definition, bisexual. So I believe we should add this information about JoJo back in. Thanks and hope to hear from ya! Warmly, --Caterpillar84 (talk) 17:32, 13 May 2020 (UTC)

- @D.rz.cns.49: Wikis (for TV shows or even Wikipedia, among others) are not reliable sources and cannot be used to source content here. When a reliable source mentions this episode, with the production code shown at that wiki page (e.g., The Futon Critic), and Disney Channel doesn't say it's a season premiere episode (for season 5), then we can adjust things. Though if Disney Channel said the March 20, 2020 episode was the season finale, through their verified Twitter, then we should go with that. MPFitz1968 (talk) 09:29, 12 May 2020 (UTC)

Re: this edit – I suspect the Haley Ramm part of that edit is correct. Ramm was every bit as big a part of her episode as James Maslow was in his (in fact, I think Ramm's role was even larger), and I suspect there's no way she didn't get full guest star billing. Unfortunately, I can't check it because the Nick app is useless, and there is no other way for me to check that episode "for free" right now... --IJBall (contribs • talk) 16:54, 30 May 2020 (UTC)
- @IJBall: I'm in the same boat regarding any "free" streaming of iCarly - I remember that coming with my Amazon Prime subscription when I enrolled in that more than three years ago, but I'd now have to buy episodes to check credits, which is why I couldn't do so in my revert of that IP's edits in the season 3 and 4 articles. With the addition of unsourced content/trivia about Jennette McCurdy's absence in a season 3 episode at that article, it was an easier call to revert. MPFitz1968 (talk) 17:31, 30 May 2020 (UTC)
We have an IP editor who insists that the article must state that Robert John Bardo was a minor when he was stalking Smith as if makes it OK to stalk someone. I'm sure a lot of teenage girls or femme non-binary teens who were stalked by boys and even killed by them would not agree with this editor. Bardo was also a minor when he started stalking Rebecca Schaeffer, the woman he killed. Are we going to have to say in Wikipedia's voice that what he was doing to *Schaeffer* was OK? Bure should have her party on her wikipedia page because she is a Republican and she's outspoken about it, Caitlyn Jenner's page mentions her party.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Amanofpolitics (talk • contribs) 10:05, 16 June 2020 (UTC)
- @Amanofpolitics: What one page shows doesn't make the argument to have the same on another, purely WP:OSE argument. Perusing Jenner's page indicates more info about her politics in the prose, including her "contemplating running in the 2018 race for the US Senate to represent California". Can't say the same with Candace Cameron Bure, where there is no politics section, likely because sources aren't pointing to her political career at this time. Zap2It listings
MPFitz1968, are the Zap2It listings (i.e. "episode guides") now "fixed" so they are reporting the correct air dates again?!
Taking a quick glance at the Wizards of Waverly Place (season 2) air dates, it looks like the Zap2It source matches up with them again, and isn't off by a day. --IJBall (contribs • talk) 15:00, 16 August 2020 (UTC)

Looks like they are still reporting the correct dates as we have them here. Only glanced at a couple of other Disney shows, like Sydney to the Max and Coop and Cami Ask the World, and the dates are matching at those articles, too. Jessie
I already got the episode list cleaned up a long time ago. The parent article and the character list split is something that's still waiting. I haven't worked on in it a long time—and now Wikipedia is (temporarily) in the backseat for me—but if you want to contribute any time you have time with bios or other stuff, feel more than free. See User:Amaury/sandbox/Jessie (2011 TV series) and User:Amaury/sandbox/List of Jessie characters. Amaury • 16:16, 13 September 2020 (UTC)
- @Amaury: I'm hoping to fix the notable guest stars section in your draft of the LoC article, though I'm scratching my head on how to do that exactly
(perhaps how the recurring characters are shown in List of Full House and Fuller House characters?). Like with the parent article in article namespace, there's a problem with highlighting the character names in that section, as the guest stars are the actors portraying these characters, not the characters themselves. MPFitz1968 (talk) 16:31, 13 September 2020 (UTC)- It follows along the same lines as the articles that have character lists, seen here: User:Amaury/sandbox#General Maintenance. I'm not including the character lists for Mighty Med', since I have yet to clean any of its articles up, nor Girl Meets World, since I have yet to clean up its character list, though they're mostly similar. Since a character list focuses on the characters, it's probably okay there, but in general, the whole "Character (Actor) is a fun person" is preferred for animation articles since the emphasis there is the characters rather than the actors, the opposite of live-action. If we can find a way on character lists to make "Actor as Character" flow properly in terms of sentence structure with the bios, similar to Knight Squad, I'd be down. But in general, this is why I think character bios are stupid and should only be used when and if we have a character list article. Otherwise, it should just be "Actor as Character" and nothing more. FYI, at this point, don't even think this is a 'possibly' block evasion IP. Same exact disruptive/unsourced/unexplained changes on "#### in American television" articles as well as same exact edits on Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader? (American game show) and Template:Bones. Seems to be fine to WP:BANREVERT this IP apart from any grammatical mistakes or such- adding/removing shows from certain years/dates seems to be their typical editing, and of course, have no source or explanation for said changes. IP has already been reported at AIV. Magitroopa (talk) 15:09, 24 October 2020 (UTC)
- @Magitroopa: Ok, thanks. Had a red flag go off when I saw two other IPs that were blocked and had recently edited 5th Grader (with the same date change in the article). Geolocates on the IP today and those of the other two were pretty close, so I had my suspicions, but wasn't 100% sure. MPFitz1968 (talk) 17:30, 24 October 2020 (UTC)
As per this and that related discussion, I definitely think this article is missing key information on the characters/actors who played various members of the girls' families. (IIRC, Cleo's father was a particularly important supporting character.) For these, I would advocate adding them into the 'Supporting' section as unbulleted prose at the bottom. But I definitely think info on the girls' families is missing from the article, and really should be included. --IJBall (contribs • talk) 18:11, 21 October 2020 (UTC)
- @IJBall: Looking up the credits from the final episode of the series ("Graduation"), I was able to pick up the credits for Kim, Nate, Don (Cleo and Kim's father) and Sam (whom Don started dating, and then married, during series three). My thought is that those four, plus Elliot (Emma's brother) in series one and two, have been in enough episodes each to be considered recurring and noteworthy in the cast section. So, any particular way I should include these in the unbulleted format? Here are the credits: Cleo Massey as Kim (Sertori, credited just by her first name in the end credits); Jamie Timony as Nate; Penni Gray as Sam; and (placed at the end of the starring list in the finale) Alan David Lee as Don Sertori (his full character name credited). MPFitz1968 (talk) 21:26, 21 October 2020 (UTC)
- I was going to do it as unbulleted prose at the bottom of the 'Supporting' section. If you want to try to work up something, feel free – and I can take a look at it. Otherwise, I may get to it this weekend, and I could run it by you. --IJBall (contribs • talk) 22:34, 21 October 2020 (UTC)
- @IJBall: Trying this for now, incorporating them in the list as equally supporting as the others. [4] Will need to fill in details for these characters sometime, but going off what I remember about Sam. I attempted to put them in order of first appearance in the show - I do remember Zane being in the first episode, and then Kim and Don appearing within the next few. (Nate, I'm not sure of, as he was more of an obscure character during series one, but started really becoming more prominent during the other two series.) MPFitz1968 (talk) 06:43, 22 October 2020 (UTC)
- You have to way back in the article history (more than a decade!) to find even some of the family members listed (I have no idea why they were removed – I didn't check that), but this version might help a little in filling out some details for a couple of them. --IJBall (contribs • talk) 12:35, 22 October 2020 (UTC)
- And, FTR, Miriam should be added back too – I recall her being an important series 1 character. --IJBall (contribs • talk) 12:37, 22 October 2020 (UTC)

Follow-up
I'm hoping I don't forget about the 'Cast' list stuff I mentioned above, but I wanted to talk about this edit. I have left a message on that editor's Talk page asking for a citation. If they don't respond in the next several days, I am reverting/undoing that edit, as there appears to be nothing currently on the page that supports this. Just letting you know, in case you know something I don't, or don't agree... --IJBall (contribs • talk) 15:11, 1 November 2020 (UTC)

I think I am going to add this to my watchlist (even though I've never watched more than the pilot of this!). I'd appreciate it if you would watch this, and maybe Brat (digital network) article too, as well.
It's the usual issue – when she was doing shows for Brat, her credited name was Annie LeBlanc (sourcing at the Brat article, at least, also explicitly uses this name), so under no circumstances should it be changed to "Jules LeBlanc". Again, this is what WP:NOTBROKEN is all about, and we don't retroactively "name change" in a case like this: It should remain Annie LeBlanc at these articles. --IJBall (contribs • talk) 21:56, 9 February 2021 (UTC)

my suggested edits
hello. sorry to disagree with that you mentioned previously. up to this morning, this list had also had the two of the three songs of 5 weeks at n. 1 before i edited my first recommendation by referring John Lennon's Just like starting over. Instead of your helping adding this on the list you omitted all the 5 week n.1 songs without a reasonable explanation. i just wanted to make this list correct by editing all the three songs (the two of them already existed up to this morning) but you erased my edits. this has nothing to do with rules, i don't believe you. songs of this category and magnitude should be mentioned anyway. i'm into music charts since the early 1980's, no one should question an absolutely correct addition to this list. please reconsider these Ponyael (talk) 17:26, 9 March 2021 (UTC)
- @Ponyael: When you initially made the edit at List of Billboard Hot 100 number-one singles of the 1980s to include John Lennon's "Starting Over" under the songs with the most weeks at number one, with its five weeks, that part was okay as it wasn't included with the other number ones spending five weeks at the top ("When Doves Cry" and "Jump"). However, when I looked at that list with the entries having only five weeks, there was more listed than needed to be. The practice at this and the more recent decade's lists of number ones, such as List of Billboard Hot 100 number-one singles of the 2010s, and this is also the case at List of Billboard Hot 100 chart achievements and milestones, is to limit most lists to the top ten in their respective category. (Ten is a reasonable count to keep the list in a single view or to limit scrolling; plus top ten seems to be fairly notable in the Billboard community.) This count is flexible, and generally if there should be a tie for tenth place in the list, but should not be excessive. The list you were editing already had 16 entries (17 with your addition), with 14 of them (more than ten) listed as having six weeks at number one. You will need to gain WP:CONSENSUS at this article (and the ones about the decades lists of number ones in general) to extend these lists further. Also please see your talk page, because I left an explanation there, too. MPFitz1968 (talk) 17:42, 9 March 2021 (UTC)

Spoiler TV
Hm... If Showbuzz Daily isn't able to get things fixed, we may need to make an exception and start using Spoiler TV. I see no reason not to trust it. We can just take the last finals ratings they posted ([5]) and compare it to Spoiler TV. If they're the same, we can trust it. Programming Insider seems to have stopped posting at least cable ratings, so they don't help us. Amaury • 17:50, 4 June 2021 (UTC)

Hi, would you mind protecting Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains? Thanks. DeBlockerMan G7 — Preceding undated comment added 18:46, 20 April 2021 (UTC)
- @DeBlockerMan G7: Can't do that - only admins can protect articles, and I'm not one. You can request protection at WP:RPP, but judging from the little activity at Survivor: Heroes vs. Villains in recent days - there's just the one IP edit and then my revert of it since April 7 - I'm doubting admin will protect (or semi-protect, in the case of keeping IPs from editing) the article at this time. DanWarp Related/Predecessor/Successor Shows
Hey, how come certain DanWarp shows can't be related, came before and/or after? iCarly and Victorious are Sam & Cat's predecessors. Also, Drake & Josh as well as Zoey 101 are related because characters from those shows make appearances on iCarly, Victorious, and Sam & Cat. So how come they can't be marked as related? — Preceding unsigned comment added by MrBlueBirdLover6 (talk • contribs) 17:14, 2 July 2021 (UTC)
Need help here - WP:DE/edit warring editor ignoring MOS:TVCAST. Thanks. --IJBall (contribs • talk) 18:25, 23 July 2021 (UTC)
I continue to be suspicious of a lot of the editing going on at this article, and its Talk page. In addition to the article being protected at least twice now over this non-"cancellation" business, User:JakeLong123432323 who edited the article was blocked by Admin Drmies for socking along with User:Lizen543t4565y6. I suspect a lot of the IP activity at this article is the same editor, and recent editors who have come out of nowhere, like User:Joe345z, have me suspicious.
Pinging Amaury and Geraldo Perez here so they are also aware. But depending on how this develops, an WP:SPI report on any of the accounts I have named here, and possibly others that have edited the article, may be warranted. --IJBall (contribs • talk) 21:50, 14 August 2021 (UTC)
Hi. My edit was not WP:DE. I took the suggestions in the previous edit summary and either eliminated the problems that were pointed out, or fixed them. I did not re-revert my edit, you would know that if you looked at the things I added and removed, or if you simply looked at the edit description where it would've otherwise automatically listed it as a reverted edit. What I did was in good faith, in an attempt to add some details and information, what you just did now was WP:ABF. You were also deciding that it was just my pleasure to frequently "vandalize" Wikipedia, just by making these two trivial edits alone. Furthermore, I did not revert your source update in the "most weeks in top 10" section. There was a big gap in between my original edit and your revert, so you essentially reverted your own edit. Don't pin the blame on me. TrevortniDesserpedx (talk) 14:16, 24 August 2021 (UTC)
- @Trevortnidesserped: OK, this was my first revert, and this was your edit that followed. Comparing it to your original edit from several days earlier, I saw a lot more changed, and one of those changes involved the equivalent of reverting my edits that updated the sourcing in the "Most total weeks in the top ten" section (under "Song milestones"). Those edits were completely legitimate and a bona fide update of Billboard's statistics regarding that category; while the old sources pretty much rehashed the week tallies for each individual song, that wasn't the case for "Levitating" and at the very least I could've just made an update to that entry and leave the rest as is. Unfortunately, Billboard isn't consistent with their reporting this statistic in their preview articles for the Hot 100, and I needed to retain an earlier source for "Uptown Funk" and "Mood". Anyway, that part really upset me and made me feel the edit was disruptive. I might've been a bit rash about placing a level 3 warning on your talk page, but it was pretty late, and I apologize for that.
There was at least one part of the re-edit that seemed okay to me, but I wonder if it was really necessary. Your original edit mentioned songs that go back way before the Hot 100 ("I'll Never Smile Again" is from 1940) in your addition to the notes under "Number-one debuts". I'm not even sure "Poor Little Fool" should be noted; yeah, it showed as a debut in the number-one position, but so were all other songs on that August 4, 1958 chart. If the Hot 100 chart had existed earlier than that, would the Ricky Nelson song have been a debut at number one on that date? Very likely not. Why not list "I'm Your Angel" by Celine Dion and R. Kelly in the notes (which is also not in the table)? Its first appearance was December 5, 1998, when Billboard made a major methodology change that allowed non-singles to chart, but Billboard does not consider it an official debut at number one, thanks to test charts they ran weeks before.
The addition you made to the lede section I was thinking as WP:UNDUE, or out of WP:SCOPE, and is better explained in the article specifically about the Billboard Hot 100 in going thru the history of the pop singles charts. This article is supposed to be about the Hot 100 achievements and milestones, and should be limited to that chart, though mentions about its predecessors should also be in the lede, and brief. However, statistics from those other predecessor charts are sometimes needed, like with Elvis Presley in particular, who was largely successful in the two years ahead of the Hot 100, and then continued that success well into the Hot 100 era. Splitting his statistics to only his Hot 100 achievements would devalue his overall impact to pop music and rock and roll, which is why some pre-Hot 100 are included. Also, why are you referring to the Hot 100 as the "mainstream" Hot 100? Was noting in your re-edit your taking out the "Top 100" chart. This was the precursor to the Hot 100, but it was still a separate chart.
There might've been some overlap, with both charts existing for the first few weeks of the Hot 100 (need to look that up to be sure). Now the note you left at the top of the "Most total weeks on the Hot 100" section (again under "Song milestones") might be okay if worded more clearly and given some context. It looks like you were referring to the 52/25 rule that Billboard implemented around the end of "Uptown Funk"'s run on the chart, in late 2015, and in fact ended the run of that song right away once it exited the top 25. A lot of songs prior to that were exceeding 52 weeks, and plenty went on past 60 and even 70 weeks, including "Sail" and "Radioactive". Only one more recent song has managed to make it into that table since.
Again, my apologies for quickly dismissing your last edit as disruptive, though there were some problems with that as well as your original edit that I attempted to address above. MPFitz1968 (talk) 16:59, 24 August 2021 (UTC)
Hi MPFitz1968, I noticed that you undid the edit I made on the table. I agree with your point of view that there are 10 artists already listed, however two are tied in the 9th position (Rihanna and the Glee Cast) leaving space for an entry in the 10th position. Hence, I inferred that it would be viable to place Justin Bieber's cumulative (50 entries) in the table. Kindly let me know what you think, thanks. --Beemer03 (talk) 08:10, 31 August 2021 (UTC)
I saw your comment from my edit at the Olivia Rodrigo article. Yes, mention those in the lead. SeanJ 2007 (talk) 09:22, 10 September 2021 (UTC)
- @SeanJ 2007: I suggest you read MOS:ETHNICITY carefully and ask: Did she become notable because she is of Filipino descent? Or Irish descent (in the case of her mother's side, even though that wasn't in your edit)? Is it relevant to her notability as a singer-songwriter or actress? I don't know that I can come up with a clear example on the "relevant to the subject's notability" part as stated in the guideline, but her works both as singer-songwriter or actress were as an American, and her being of Filipino descent didn't figure into that. MPFitz1968 (talk) 09:29, 10 September 2021 (UTC)
Hi MPFitz1968, here is a link to support my claim that Justin Bieber has accumulated 280 weeks in the top 10 of the Hot 100 for the chart dated October 2, 2021. Justin Bieber tied Usher for fourth most (273 weeks). Since then, he has spent 7 weeks in the top 10 including the chart dated October 2, 2021. Billboard tweeted soon after the Hot 100 was announced for the chart dated August 14, 2021. Kindly update the list. Thanks --Beemer03 (talk) 03:27, 4 October 2021 (UTC)
