Draft Article for Linda Adler-Kassner
Thanks for your feedback. At this point, I am not sure what more my colleagues and I are supposed to do to make this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Linda_Adler-Kassner page go live? It's been heavily updated to remove the overly CV / promotional elements numerous times. What, exactly, is the offending portion of the page? Is it the overall feel or are there specific elements that need to be refined? We tried to report the facts of this person in a straightforward way. This person is a key figure in the field of Writing Studies, having achieved numerous national accomplishments across several institutions - including advising in education for the Obama Administration. We would really appreciate being pointed in a specific direction as to what needs to be fixed, as we have had numerous wikipedia authors take a look and help edit. Thank you. Dr. B.C. - Bcernst Firstly, do you have any associate to the topic? If so you need to check out WP:COI and report any conflicts of interest. Your username suggests you might be a colleague or workmate of the topic. My personal gripe is I couldn't ascertain that the draft meets WP:NACADEMIC. Are any of Linda Adler-Kassner's works considered seminal? Has she been published in peer reviewed papers and journals? Has her work been cited per NACADEMIC?

Hello, Lil-unique1,
You've mentioned WP:VENDOR in this AFD discussion 11 times. I think you have made your point about deleting this article and it is counter-productive to keep repeating yourself...it can backfire if people think you are bludgeoning the discussion. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 07:09, 6 August 2022 (UTC)
- Liz Thanks for the note, I appreciate what you are saying, but at the same time many of the comments don't address the reason for the nomination. It is necessary to mention the guideline when explaining and having a discussion. It is supposed to be a discussion, not a simple delete or keep vote. That said, I note what you are saying. I have challenged responses where it isn't clear that users understand the guidance - but I will back off a bit to ensure that I am not bludgeon the discussion (though I would point out that "bludgeon" is an essay/opinion. It has no weight). >> Lil-unique1 (talk) — 21:48, 6 August 2022 (UTC)

RE: [1]
I'm very confused as to this declination rationale. The subject has been dead for 120 years, so it is certainly not a BLP. Additionally, for future reference, the BLP declination should only be used when there are unsourced defamatory statements in a BLP. If there are just normal unsourced statements in a BLP, use the ilc declination instead. Regardless, don't let this bog you down, I just wanted to give some helpful advice. Keep up the great work! Curbon7 (talk) 01:23, 9 August 2022 (UTC)
- Curbon7 - apologies it slipped my mind that BLP applied to living only. I know that sounds daft but I'm so used to the acronym I'd forgotten ILC exists! Either way, I'd have still declined, after trying my hardest to make the referencing make sense! >> Lil-unique1 (talk) — 08:00, 9 August 2022 (UTC)

Genre
Could I ask for your opinion on the genres in the Infobox on The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill? Much of articles genre in the lead and under “Music and lyrics” both state this is a “Neo-soul and R&B album, with some songs being hip hop soul”. From my understanding per the template it must be cited with a source calling the albums genre. Another user and I were in a slight edit war over it because much of the other genres listed in the Infobox such as hip hop, hip hop soul, and progressive rap seem to either be in the wrong places throughout the entire article. There always was a discussion opened on the pages talk page. The other user also was claiming because it was listed on a websites “top 100 hip hop albums” that justifies that counts to be included as a source for the genre? Not quite sure if that’s correct? Hopefully I can hear your thoughts on this. Also please look at the pages revision history along with the discussion on the talk page as well just so there’s also a better understanding. Pillowdelight (talk) 10:23, 10 August 2022 (UTC)
- Pillowdelight hello buddy. No - inclusion on Top 100 lists or charts of a specific genre does not make a song or album of that genre. Hip- Hop is a good example of a "capture all" for many genres including Trap, Grime, Urbano, Rap etc. Follow the guidance at WP:EXPLICITGENRE. The genres might be sources in the critical reception, accolades or composition sections of an album - it doesn't matter really where they are sourced. Common phrasing might be "a mix of soul and hip-hop" or "songs that transcend R&B and hip-hop." However, if it says x song is R&B, Y song is Hip-hop and there's neo soul undertones, it would be WP:OR to call the whole album R&B, Hip-Hop and Neo-Soul. The album as a whole body of work must be what is being described. Hope that helps. >> Lil-unique1 (talk) — 11:22, 10 August 2022 (UTC)
infodisc.fr still discussing
Hi Lil-unique1. As the matter is still under discussion, perhaps removing certifications like you did here is premature? Especially since I don't see anyone even claiming that infodisc is not reliable for certifications, just that perhaps they need permission to use these certifications. About Born Pink
Hi, I saw that you deleted the pre-order sales for Born Pink while it had a Primary source which was the company, according to Wikipedia:No original research#Primary, secondary and tertiary sources it work as a reliable source right? Because its "offer an insider's view of" "a work of art," or something like that. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Lililolol (talk) 01:42, 4 September 2022 (UTC)
- @Lililolol: no. If you read the policy stated (which you linked), it says
"A primary source may be used on Wikipedia only to make straightforward, descriptive statements of facts that can be verified by any educated person with access to the primary source but without further, specialized knowledge. For example, an article about a musician may cite discographies and track listings published by the record label, and an article about a novel may cite passages to describe the plot, but any interpretation needs a secondary source."
. It is impossible to verify sources based solely on a what a record label has said. Record labels are not valid sources for sales. See Talk:List_of_best-selling_music_artists/Archive_20#Pink!, Talk:List_of_best-selling_music_artists/Archive_14#Mariah_Carey, the discussion at Talk:List_of_best-selling_music_artists/Archive_26#Mariah_Carey where Carey's label suggested that her sales had increased 25million in a year. Tip?
Hey Lil Unique, I’ve noticed you’ve as well have had run ins with the user RoundTeen. They are adding charts on songs with the word “Tip” in place of a number. [2] [3] Is this a thing??? Out of all my 3 years almost 4 now, I’ve never come across a chart on here with “Tip”. I’ve looked at both Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Record charts and Template:Single chart and both pretty much state it must be a number. I’m not even quite sure what Tip is supposed to stand for? Pillowdelight (talk) 23:33, 7 January 2023 (UTC)
- Hey Pillowdelight, to the Tip is short for Tipperade and is Ultra Charts equivalent of the Bubbling Under Chart. For some reason, at some point, they stopped ranking songs by specific numbers. But either way, the chart table is clearly for numbers and peak positions. The word "Tip" isn't a position or ranking so I'm clear it shouldn't appear. >> Lil-unique1 (talk) —
Finnish PDF
Hi Lil-Unique, this is something that I've found rather odd regarding the Finnish pdf chart. Apparently, I've come across the article Last Christmas, and since it's a Christmas song, it's one of the very old songs to keep reappearing on the charts (especially at the end of the year); unsurprisingly, HumanxAnthro included the pdf chart to that song along with currently active chart, one thing that got me confused is that peaks on the pdf chart doesn't align with the current active chart. For example the sales peaks, which are on the middle-hand column (see page 280), states the song peaked at no. 1 on the sales chart, but if you check the current website, it states the song peaked at no. 2 on the sales on week 52, 2019 (2 years before this pdf was published), and same thing goes with airplay chart. For what it's worth, under the title of song in the pdf, there's a note written in Finnish which roughly translates to "best single and stream position from 2018, radio position from 2011", also it's important to note that on the right-hand column of the table states the song entered the Finnish charts on the week of 12, 1984. Could those peaks be reached during that time? I was about to remove the pdf chart but I got hesitated, what's your thoughts on it? Moh8213 (talk) 14:14, 19 September 2022 (UTC)
- @Moh8213:, hello this isn't one I know much about. Best bet is to raise it at WP:RECORDCHARTS. >> Lil-unique1 (talk) — 19:53, 8 January 2023 (UTC)
Hi! Today I noticed in the edit history in the article about Cuff It you removed the information the song was released in a radio airplay format in France (January 6, 2023). I would like to ask you what's the reason for this. I know Pure Charts (chartsinfrance.net) isn't listed as a reliable or unreliable source in Wikipedia:Singles criteria, but I also see it's used as a source to confirm the release of other songs as singles (quite a popular example recently, I believe, is Lady Gaga's Bloody Mary). There's also the possibility maybe the content of this particular article on Pure Charts is the problem, and here I have to admit I don't know French, but the translator claims the author of this article has already called this song a single and wrote, in connection with the then-upcoming radio impact of the song in the United States, And France? As confirmed by the Columbia label, "Cuff It" is also launched as the second official single from the album "Renaissance"., which rather means the song has already been released as a radio single in France.
I noticed this change only now and I'm curious what was the reason for this removal, because until then everyone seemed to accept this source, and since this website is also used in other articles, it's also worth knowing whether to remove it if it's unreliable. Thank you!
Danionek (talk) 16:40, 17 January 2023 (UTC)

Opinion on chart
Hey Lilunique, I’m not too sure if you’re familiar with charts but I was wondering if you knew anything on an Australian website called auspOp for ARIA? Are they considered reliable? After looking at In My Defense it’s listed at reaching number 52. But I noticed user Ss112 was the one who added it back in 2019. - Friendlyhelper9949, its not a single. A radio add date alone doesn't equal single. Songs can be sent to radio then cancelled like "Like A Surgeon (Ciara song)". It needs coverage after the fact that it was released and promoted as a single. I am old enough to remember when it came out and it definitely wasn't promoted, rather than assuming I'm wrong please consider whether or not you have understood the rules and change the content that's wrong. >> Lil-unique1 (talk) — 11:13, 30 August 2023 (UTC)

Opinion
Hi again! Hope all is well, I have a question and would love your opinion. I’m not too sure how familiar you are with album/single certifications. But I’m in a dispute with an editor regarding certifications, if an album has a ref with its sales but the cert was updated after the article was published what is supposed to be in the box? [4] this user reverted it by bringing up a discussion I opened over 3 years ago regarding this type of issue. Yet I feel like I’m following what they’re stating. Majority of the time I’ve seen most users remove the sales after an updated cert is released due to it being “outdated”. I opened a discussion on their talk page but they’re insinuating that I’m wrong. I have also reached out to an admin due to this being the second incident I’ve had with this user. Hello. I understand tabloids like the Daily Mail were expunged in all instances, including for opinion, but no consensus is no consensus. Using video thumbnails as cover artworks
Hey Lil-unique1, I just want your opinion as a music editor who also occasionally nominates images for deletion. I'm not sure if you're aware of the musical animated series Hazbin Hotel—but anyway, a few songs from the series have articles here now, and the user who created them has uploaded the thumbnails for the songs' music videos as replacement artworks in the cover= parameter of the infoboxes. I could have sworn (and you might be aware) that there is precedent, an "unspoken rule" if you will, to not use video thumbnails as covers, but as I really don't mark down dates, times and links of previous FFDs where thumbnails that have been used as covers have been deleted it's basically just my word that there is precedent rather than policy or a guideline not to do so. If you feel like offering your opinion, the discussion is at Wikipedia:Files for discussion/2024 February 27#File:Poison Song Cover Image.jpeg. Thanks! Ss112 14:03, 28 February 2024 (UTC)
Multiple durations
Hello. I happened to notice this edit of yours on My House (Beyoncé song). Template:Infobox song doesn't say we can't include multiple versions' lengths like it does for one release date etc; it actually says "If additional lengths are entered, use {{Duration}} for the second and subsequent lengths: {{Duration|3:09}} will produce "3:09"." Ss112 00:03, 9 March 2024 (UTC)
- Hi Ss112, there's a long standing tradition of not including multiple durations unless its consequential e.g. the single version doesn't have a feature and is longer. Its no biggie if you want to restore it.

Hello, there seems to be issues regarding the genres on Lotus (Christina Aguilera album). I reverted the article back to your version but user "Laylaluvalog" is now genre warring.
