Your AfD conduct
We may well have clashed in the past and may well clash in the future. Nonetheless, I wish to thank you for voting according to article merit, keeping in mind the full range of options, and even improving the target when it's possible. There are other things, such as keeping Wikipedia:There is no deadline in mind, but those fall under opinions and editing philosophies instead of common decency; that the latter is uncommon enough to be praiseworthy speaks volumes about the state of fiction on Wikipedia, but only makes it more valuable. --Kizor is in a constant state of flux 04:36, 24 December 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you for the note. In fact, I do fondly remember our first bit of interaction on Wikipedia, on a certain AfD. Something I do disagree with is your pessimism on the state of fiction on Wikipedia. There are many reasonable people participating in the discussions, but they just don't shout as loud as the others. User:Krator (t c) 19:34, 24 December 2007 (UTC)
- Ah yes. Good times, despite the outcome. Unfortunately my tendency to procrastinate, apparent there, has since become downright pathological due to RL events and will still require extensive mending... but on the side of conciliatory achievements, last October I stopped a flame war about handling Albus Dumbledore's sexuality by calling it silly and declaring a state of picnic. Anyway. What has me worried is that online text communication favors exactly the people who can shout the loudest and the longest. Reason need not enter into it. Ultimately, the site can survive only as a collaborative online community (*shudder*) and I think we have a lot of growing up to do to recognize this fact and create an environment where it can work, especially since the traditional spirit of cooperation that sustained us seems to be fading as the focus of editing inevitably shifts from creating good content towards maintaining good content. But your assurance does give a fraction of comfort.
The two of us will apparently have to have a showdown at Supreme Commander someday. --Kizor 21:16, 4 January 2008 (UTC)

A few questions about you VG assesment for Silent Hill 4: The Room:
- Do you know of any sources I can check for development info so that the "Development" section can earn its name?
- Same with sales data: All I have are some statistics on the Japanese charts. I have no doubt that will come up in any future FAC.
- For "Characters" and "Story", what parts exactly do you want changed? Or should I just trust my instincts on what looks like it belongs in the "story" section?
Everything else I should be able to sort out eventually. --Lenin and McCarthy | (Complain here) 19:40, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
You wouldn't happen to be able to check the Japanese Konami site for this information? --Lenin and McCarthy | (Complain here) 19:58, 29 December 2007 (UTC)

New assessment examples.
We really need some non-product examples in the quality assessment table. While I'd agree your choices are better than mine, it makes the table utterly redundant to anyone looking for examples of characters or other aspects of a video game beyond the box with the disc. My original choice to include some examples of developer and character articles was intended for this reason. -- Sabre (talk) 13:45, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
- True. I'll look for some other examples, hang on. User:Krator (t c) 13:56, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free media (Image:Supreme Commander Logo.png)
Thanks for uploading Image:Supreme Commander Logo.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 20:16, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
Speedy deletion of Image:Supreme Commander Logo.png
A tag has been placed on Image:Supreme Commander Logo.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I5 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image which is not under a free license or in the public domain and it has not been used in any article for more than seven days.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[Talk:Image:Supreme Commander Logo.png|the article's talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. I ran into some trouble too when I tried creating my sandbox version. To be honest, if something similar to my version gets used, I hope someone else does it; as my version is thrown together rather poorly to make it look a certain way. Fair use rationale for Image:De Volkskrant 01 05 2008.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:De Volkskrant 01 05 2008.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. QW & Wikiquette
Krator, thanks for pitching in at the QW item. I want to concede to Ronz that the recent phase of the heated debate (so to speak) has been in user space talk pages, not the QW discussion page itself; I explain that more in my answer to you there. That said of course I agree with your asessment, I just want to concede a complication. Thanks, Pete St.John (talk) 21:25, 8 January 2008 (UTC)

- Where's the dispute located? That's what I hoped you would determine yourself, as a neutral party, if you thought it had bearing on the situation. At this point, I don't think it matter, as the WQA matter has been referred elsewhere. Thanks again for jumping into this mess though. --Ronz (talk) 15:24, 9 January 2008 (UTC)

Le Grand Roi des Citrouilles AFD contributions
I went to his talk page to see if anyone had mentioned his AFD comments. I'm glad to see you had talked with him. However he is at it again [1] I was wondering if you might want to stop by his page and mention something again. I would do it but since he votes keep in almost everything I send to AFD it might be better if someone else dose it. It just get really annoying see him basically say "I like it" in dozens of AFD's. - I have to work in a few hours I think I'll write up something and leave it on his page in the next few days. Maybe just point out that he should at least try to reply to concerns raised by the nominator. It just really annoys me when I point out that all the sources are primary sources and he just comes in and says it's well sourced. If you disagree with me at least give a reason. Ridernyc (talk) 19:26, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
- Try to be specific, and focus on feedback on the way he's expressing his opinion, instead of telling him he's wrong. Especially with the example you give, the line is thin. User:Krator (t c) 19:28, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
- If you have any suggestions, please just drop me an email. If you can supply citable evidence of notability for this band, please do so soon, otherwise the article may be tagged for speedy deletion under category WP:CSD#A7 Tivedshambo (talk) 22:19, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
- Hence my edit summary indicating it's a nice little stub, and not some kind of self promotive idiocy. Being a stub is ok. User:Krator (t c) 22:23, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
- Being a stub is fine. It's the lack of evidence of notability that causes the problems. Tivedshambo (talk) 22:25, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
- A popular RFA question is always "would you delete this one line stub" - here's a real life example. I'm not going to make a tremendous effort (i.e. sleep deprivation, it's late over here) to source this article, because I do not in fact have any WP:COI connection to it. User:Krator (t c) 22:29, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
- Being a stub is fine. It's the lack of evidence of notability that causes the problems. Tivedshambo (talk) 22:25, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
- The answer in this case is yes - it fulfils the criteria of WP:CSD#A7 to the letter, i.e. An article about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content that does not indicate why its subject is important or significant. Sorry, but under this criteria I am going to add {{db-band}} to it. This does not preclude you from recreating it when you can provide some evidence. Tivedshambo (talk) 22:35, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
Deleted
The article Infinite Dimensions has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article seemed to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the notability of the subject may be deleted at any time. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources.
Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and for specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for musicians, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. TigerShark (talk) 23:33, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

Peer Review
Hello. I've recently requested a peer review for Legacy of Kain: Defiance, and noticed on the peer review volunteers list that you review video game article. So I'd just like to bring this one to your attention. I feel the page has made some large steps towards becoming a much better quality of article than it was before, and I know it's not FA status, not even GA status, and thus am eager for suggestions on ways to improve it further. Any assistance you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

I will review this article later today.Done. User:Krator (t c) 08:49, 13 February 2008 (UTC)- You mentioned acquiring screenshots. Would screenshots released on the game's official site prior to its release count as fair use images, because there exist such shots that could be acquired. The Clawed One (talk) 22:18, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, you could use those under fair use claims. As the image is under fair use anyway, and there's no "creative work" involved in making screenshots, it doesn't really matter. User:Krator (t c) 00:01, 15 February 2008 (UTC)

VG Assesments
Thanks very much for your comments, you're completely correct in that I found the VG/A page from the Videogame project page, then read through the DrumMania page and added my thoughts on the discussion page. I guess the system does work in this case!
I'd ask if there's any template that's commonly used for assesments, or if it's mainly an encouraging critical analysis that's used? I don't want to put people off continuing to edit articles that they've obviously spent a lot of time and effort on, but by the same token I'd like to try and steer their efforts in the right direction instead of charging in blindly and editing myself. In terms of housekeeping, I'll update the Assesments page once I'm done working through an article.
I'm definately keen on seeking adoption. I'm trying to be helpful and constructive but I'm also mindful of treading on other people's toes, talking out of turn or generating offense through honesty. I'd also be keen to understand what standards are used, so that I can make sure I adhere to them. If you're happy to take me on and show me a guiding hand, that'd be great!
Many thanks! Gazimoff (talk) 13:19, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

Being Bold in 24 hours...
Thanks for the general advice about how I apporach articles. I guess I'm cautios due to my job (junior management). As such, I tend to take safe bets. It's why I edited the Criticism of Warcraft article directly - it's a subject that I'm familiar with and I was confident I could find high quality sources for. I edited the 24: The Game article in a sandbox as it's been heavily reworked - section orders changed, much of the text either condensed, rewritten or edited. It also took a number of days to complete, so I thought it would be better to present the finished article instead of having a potentially live broken or half-finished article.
I've taken the reccomendation though and decided to be bold. The 24: The Game article will be changed to the new version shortly. Many, many thanks for your advice. Gazimoff (talk) 22:11, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

Peer review idea
Hi, I have made a proposal that no peer review request be archived without some response. To aid in this, there is a new list of PR requests at least one week old that have had no repsonses beyond a semi-automated peer review. This list is at Wikipedia:Peer review/backlog.
There are just over 100 names on the PR volunteers page, so I figure if each of these volunteers reviewed just one or two PR requests without a response from the list each month, it would easily take care of the "no response" backlog (as there have been 2 or 3 such unanswered requests a day on average).
If you would be able to help out with a review or two a month from the "no responses" backlog list that would be great (and much appreciated). Please discuss questions, comments, or ideas at the PR talk page and thanks in advance for your help, Ruhrfisch ><>°° 00:09, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

Mentory shaped questions
So I'm looking at putting some new articles together, but I was wondering if you'd recommended any tools to help speed up the process a bit. I was thinking of things like browser plugins for Firefox or maybe a separate program that you use. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Second up, there's GameRanger. The article has been put up for deletion. It's been consistently vandalised by Fudgeman29, Demons2oo5, Wing44 and Tenobkers amongst others. What's the procedure on dealing with this?
Third up, I noticed there's a backlog of articles waiting for review as good articles. Is there a way I can help with clearing this backlog?
Hope you had a good break!Gazimoff (talk) 12:17, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
- For the first thing, there's some handy user scripts around at WP:US. I use Twinkle myself. There's some Greasemonkey script for Ffx around I used for.. two days, because it was annoying. The userscripts are handy though.
- Stuff like what was going on at GameRanger should go to WP:RPP. Admin Kizor (nice fellow) protected the page, which is what you could've requested as well at that page. If you desire punitive action against the vandals, go to WP:AIV or WP:ANI, but I usually do not do that for the kind of hit-and-run stuff you saw here. - I haven't done any Good Article reviewing myself, but the process is explained at WP:RGA. Note: there is quite a lot of 'drama' surrounding good article reviews. Be wary of what you get into! User:Krator (t c) 14:12, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

I'm hoping we can have a constructive discussion. If you disagree, I think it would be just as helpful to put together a counter-proposal. WP:SYN needs to be clarified either way. Even on the discussion page, it looks like people think the "exception" I'm talking about already exists. Policywonker (talk) 00:02, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
