Welcome!

August 2016
Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Teresa Lisbon has been reverted.
Your edit here to Teresa Lisbon was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline. The external link(s) you added or changed (http://thementalist.wikia.com/wiki/Teresa_Lisbon) is/are on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. If the external link you inserted or changed was to an external Wiki, then please note that these links should generally not be included (see 'links to avoid' #12).
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! --XLinkBot (talk) 11:53, 17 August 2016 (UTC)

Reporting vandals
Thanks for keeping the vandals down, but if someone's ignored a level 4 warning for something unambiguous you should report them at WP:AIV (where obvious cases of vandalism are dealt with quickly) rather than WP:ANI (which is where more complex cases can be discussed). --McGeddon (talk) 11:25, 9 September 2016 (UTC)

Fuortu (talk) 13:44, 14 September 2016 (UTC)Proposed deletion of Euso (disambugation)
The article Euso (disambugation) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. LittleWink (talk) 15:05, 17 September 2016 (UTC)
Underwater diving
Please note that Underwater diving is under GA review. This often leads to large numbers of edits by the same person. Occasionally I may neglect to fill in the edit summary. Lack of an edit summary is not in itself a sufficient reason to revert a large edit or group of edits, even if some content is removed, without first taking a look to see if the reason may be obvious, as should be the case from the edit history and quality of the actual edits. I am assuming good faith as you appear to be new here, so I am just informing you without prejudice. Cheers, • • • Peter (Southwood) (talk): 11:50, 3 October 2016 (UTC)

March 2017
Hi Kostas20142. We appreciate your enthusiasm but please refrain from tagging articles for now – some maintenance tasks are not suitable for beginners. New Page Review requires significant experience, which you don't have yet. However, if you have already made at least 200 mainspace edits, you can enroll at the Counter Vandalism Academy to learn about keeping pages free of nonsense. Consider doing recent changes patrol for vandalism instead. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask me on my talk page. KGirlTrucker81 huh? what I've been doing 11:35, 24 March 2017 (UTC) KGirlTrucker81 huh? what I've been doing 11:35, 24 March 2017 (UTC)
- Short of actually blocking you, there are few sanctions, although your edits may be reverted. As you say, it's at your own risk. However, I agree with KGirlTrucker81 and you also have an offer from XboxGamer, so I'd suggest taking up the offers, it's still a useful task and good preparation for NPP Jimfbleak - talk to me? 16:46, 24 March 2017 (UTC)
- @Jimfbleak: I have already taken it up, actually ! thank you for the advice though
It's just an April Fool's day joke. No need to delete it. Thanks. Lourdes 13:47, 1 April 2017 (UTC)
- @Lourdes: really? a hoax RfA ??--Kostas20142 (talk) 13:51, 1 April 2017 (UTC)
- Yeah. It's the 1st of April. The editor who created the page is a bureaucrat. So no worries. Lourdes 13:52, 1 April 2017 (UTC)
- If you think that's a hoax, you need to brighten up with your definition of what a hoax is. If you think that an April Fool's RfA by a 'crat is a hoax, then maybe XboxGamer22408 should clear some things up (no offence intended). I've added the {{humor}} tag. Dat GuyTalkContribs 13:55, 1 April 2017 (UTC)

Your recent edits
Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:
- Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
- With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( or ) located above the edit window.
This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.
Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 13:49, 1 April 2017 (UTC) @SineBot: sorry, i forgot. thank you for reminding it--Kostas20142 (talk) 13:50, 1 April 2017 (UTC)
Crescent Beach
Hey, on [1]... Thanks.
On second thought, I shouldn't have created it. I was editing it to make it a stub, but got an edit conflict. Then I saw that you took an interest in it. Since I wasn't going to do more than creating the stub, perhaps a better way to deal with this is simply to redict the Crescent Beach, Sarasota County, Florida page to Siesta Beach. That is exactly what I am going to do.
I am uploading images pertaining to Crescent Beach, and noticed that the disambiguation page already had Crescent Beach, Sarasota County, Florida listed there, even though the page did not exist. I think having the redirection page is good enough for now.

Hi Kostas, can you revisit your close at Angus? It seemed to me there was clear consensus the article should move, and that consensus for Angus, Scotland was emerging.--Cúchullain t/c 14:47, 2 April 2017 (UTC)
- @Cuchullain: Agreed. Kostas, please reconsider your close; from what I saw, there seemed to at least be consensus to change the status quo. Steel1943 (talk) 14:49, 2 April 2017 (UTC)

Rollback granted
Hi Kostas20142. After reviewing your request for "rollbacker", I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:
- Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
- Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
- Rollback should never be used to edit war.
- If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
- Use common sense.
If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! Mz7 (talk) 19:42, 4 April 2017 (UTC)

Indeed I think my contribution was better. What is the point of having a list of people in the page? Also that list is not confirmed by anyone. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 37.132.165.67 (talk) 16:16, 12 April 2017 (UTC)
- @37.132.165.67: First of all, hello and welcome to Wikipedia! Please bear in mind that you should always include an edit summary , especially when removing a lot of content from articles. Also, your edit looked at least controversial , so it would be better if you first looked for consensus at the article's talk page. About the "not confirmed" part, usually finding sources is better than removing content. Thank you! --Kostas20142 (talk) 10:20, 13 April 2017 (UTC)

"a Greek city in Macedon"
I edited a sentence that said "a Greek city in Macedon" to say "a Macedonian city". You reverted my change to return to the grammatically clumsy and logically inconsistent original version, saying my change "was not constructive". What is your justification for that? Can you explain how the sentence reads more clearly without my improvement, or do you have another agenda here? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.55.120.177 (talk) 17:42, 16 April 2017 (UTC)

ORCP/RFA
Hi there. I noticed your post on ORCP, but it was closed before I could respond. Just one piece of advice. People who desperately want to become administrators rarely make good administrators. As a result, editors are wary of supporting anybody who looks like they are "collecting hats." So, don't try to become anything. Keep your head down, edit constructively, and if you would be a good admin, eventually somebody will notice. Regards, Karellen93 (talk) (Vanamonde93's alternative account) 17:32, 14 April 2017 (UTC)
- @Karellen93: , @Vanamonde93: first of all thank you for commenting on my ORCP. I feel you all were right. It was too early. I don't think that WP:HATSHOP really applies in my case since I am using all the permissions I am requesting and will not request any other unless I need and can use them well in order to actually improve Wikipedia. However a comment on how all this could be perceived is always useful. So, I will not submit RfA and will wait as advised. After all you are right; if I turn up to be a good choice, someone will eventually nominate me. Best regards! --Kostas20142 (talk) 11:04, 15 April 2017 (UTC)

Page mover granted
Hello, Kostas20142. Your account has been granted the "extendedmover" user right, either following a request for it or demonstrating familiarity with working with article names and moving pages. You are now able to rename pages without leaving behind a redirect, and move subpages when moving the parent page(s).
Please take a moment to review Wikipedia:Page mover for more information on this user right, especially the criteria for moving pages without leaving redirect. Please remember to follow post-move cleanup procedures and make link corrections where necessary, including broken double-redirects when suppressredirect
is used. This can be done using Special:WhatLinksHere. It is also very important that no one else be allowed to access your account, so you should consider taking a few moments to secure your password. As with all user rights, be aware that if abused, or used in controversial ways without consensus, your page mover status can be revoked.
Useful links:

If you do not want the page mover right anymore, just let me know, and I'll remove it. Thank you, and happy editing! Swarm ♠ 03:20, 18 April 2017 (UTC)

April 2017
Hello Kostas20142. Thanks for patrolling new pages – it's a very important task! I'm just letting you know, however, that there is consensus that we shouldn't tag pages as lacking context (CSD A1) and/or content (CSD A3) moments after they are created, as you did at Half A Hat Studios. It's usually best to wait at least 10–15 minutes for more content to be added if the page is very short, and the articles should not be marked as patrolled. Tagging such pages in a very short space of time may drive away well-meaning contributors, which is not good for Wikipedia. Attack pages (G10), blatant nonsense (G1), copyright violations (G12) and pure vandalism/blatant hoaxes (G3) should of course still be tagged and deleted immediately. Thanks. Dat GuyTalkContribs 13:27, 23 April 2017 (UTC)
- @DatGuy: I know it and totally agree , but I used CSD A7. Thank you for the notice though.Best regards!--Kostas20142 (talk) 14:01, 23 April 2017 (UTC)
- A7 should also be in the template. Sometimes, a user just needs some more time to find references. It wasn't the case this time, but for the next time perhaps :). See some AfDs that are closed keep for examples, they sometimes occur. Dat GuyTalkContribs 14:03, 23 April 2017 (UTC)

New Page Reviewer granted
Hello Kostas20142. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers
" user group, allowing you to review new pages and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or in some cases, tag them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is a vital function for policing the quality of the encylopedia, if you have not already done so, you must read the new tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the various deletion criteria. If you need more help or wish to discuss the process, please join or start a thread at page reviewer talk.
- URGENT: Please consider helping get the huge backlog (around 18,000 pages) down to a manageable number of pages as soon as possible.
- Be nice to new users - they are often not aware of doing anything wrong.
- You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted - be formal and polite in your approach to them too, even if they are not.
- Don't review a page if you are not sure what to do. Just leave it for another reviewer.
- Remember that quality is quintessential to good patrolling. Take your time to patrol each article, there is no rush. Use the message feature and offer basic advice.
The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In case of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, the right can be revoked at any time by an administrator. Lord Roem ~ (talk) 04:35, 24 April 2017 (UTC)

Dispute Resolution Noticeboard Volunteer Roll Call
This is a volunteer roll call sent to you on behalf of the current Dispute Resolution Noticeboard Coordinator, Robert McClenon, and is being sent to you because you have listed yourself as a volunteer at DRN. If you remain interested in helping at DRN and are willing to actively do so by taking at least one case (and seeing it through) or helping with administrative matters at least once per calendar month, please add your name to the roll call list. Those who do not add their name on the roll call list will be removed from the principal volunteer list after May 31, 2017 unless the DRN Coordinator chooses to retain their name for the best interest of DRN or the encyclopedia. Individuals whose names are removed after May 31, 2017, should feel free to re-add their names to the principal volunteer list, but are respectfully requested not to do so unless they are willing to take part at DRN at least one time per month as noted above. No one is going to be monitoring to see if you live up to that commitment, but we respectfully ask that you either live up to it or remove your name from the principal volunteer list.

Deleting duplicates in Victualing.
An edit I made was removed, but I don't know why. The page said that the board was responsible for "serving providing" supplies. Obviously only one of those words is necessary, and the redundancy is a problem. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 100.15.205.166 (talk) 16:47, 7 May 2017 (UTC)

CAT:UPC
What I had in mind was a shortcut redirect, similar to CAT:COI. Admittedly, I neglected to tag it as such. Is it OK if I recreate the page? Thanks Rentier (talk) 11:55, 21 July 2017 (UTC)
- @Rentier: Yes of course you can! Just tag it as needed so that no such mistake occurs again. Thank you and happy editing 😊 --Kostas20142 (talk) 12:05, 21 July 2017 (UTC)
Chrissymad
I don't mean to be rude or mean, but I will vote "oppose" if an RfA for Chrissymad appears in the short-term future (long-term I might change my mind depending on what else happens of course), and would use diffs showing incivility and over-eagerness with CSD tagging. I think it's best I leave it at that. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 12:39, 1 August 2017 (UTC)

- User:Kudpung/RfA criteria is a good yardstick to go by when evaluating candidates - not for anything specific to do with Kudpung, but rather that it's been tried and tested, and is proven to work. It does take an hour or two to thoroughly dig through contributions, plus it helps to be an admin to start with as you can view deleted contributions too, but you do get a good "feel" for who might pass. New Page Review - Newsletter No.4
Since rolling out the right in November, just 6 months ago, we now have 803 reviewers, but the backlog is still mysteriously growing fast. If every reviewer did just 55 reviews, the 22,000 backlog would be gone, in a flash, schwoop, just like that!
But do remember: Rather than speed, quality and depth of patrolling and the use of correct CSD criteria are essential to good reviewing. Do not over-tag. Make use of the message feature to let the creator know about your maintenance tags. See the tutorial again HERE. Get help HERE.
Stay up to date with recent new page developments and have your say, read THIS PAGE.

Flag speedy deletions
You recently tagged 🏴 and 🏴 for speedy deletion as “implausible typos or misnomers”. In what sense are they typos or misnomers? Gorobay (talk) 18:56, 20 July 2017 (UTC)
- @Gorobay: These two redirects have been deleted (not me but by an administrator) under CSD R3 and specifically as a misnomer. The link will provide you some useful information. Also, could you please tell me what did you try to include in title, because it appears to be invalid?? --Kostas20142 (talk) 20:57, 20 July 2017 (UTC)
- I know what a misnomer is, but these are not misnomers. For example, ⟨🏴⟩ is the flag of Tbilisi, so I redirected it to Flag of Tbilisi. When you say they are invalid I assume you mean you don’t know about subregion flag emoji, which is reasonable, since they were only released a few months ago. See Unicode Technical Standard #51 for details. Gorobay (talk) 21:10, 20 July 2017 (UTC)
- @Gorobay: I see. I do not really know whether Wikipedia supports it but definitely many browsers don't . The problem however is another - we don't really use emoji as page titles (even inclusion is discouraged) so the title still falls under this category. I do not really know how useful would such a redirect be, at least for the time being, either --Kostas20142 (talk) 21:16, 20 July 2017 (UTC)
- Wikipedia does support it, which you can verify by clicking 🏴 and seeing that it takes you to Flag of England. The rules for article titles and redirect titles are different. There are many emoji redirects, all of which you are welcome to nominate for deletion at WP:RFD. In the meantime, I hope you see that these redirects aren’t nonsense or typos, so please don’t tag any others for speedy deletion. Gorobay (talk) 01:05, 21 July 2017 (UTC)

Administrators' newsletter – July 2017
News and updates for administrators from the past month (June 2017).
- The RFC discussion regarding WP:OUTING and WMF essay about paid editing and outing (see more at the ArbCom noticeboard archives) is now archived. Milieus #3 and #4 received support; so did concrete proposal #1.
- Fuzzy search will soon be added to Special:Undelete, allowing administrators to search for deleted page titles with results similar to the search query. You can test this by adding
?fuzzy=1
to the URL, as with Special:Undelete?fuzzy=1. Currently the search only finds pages that exactly match the search term. - A new bot will automatically revision delete unused file versions from files in Category:Non-free files with orphaned versions more than 7 days old.
- Fuzzy search will soon be added to Special:Undelete, allowing administrators to search for deleted page titles with results similar to the search query. You can test this by adding
- A newly revamped database report can help identify users who may be eligible to be autopatrolled.
- A potentially compromised account from 2001–2002 attempted to request resysop. Please practice appropriate account security by using a unique password for Wikipedia, and consider enabling two-factor authentication. Currently around 17% of admins have enabled 2FA, up from 16% in February 2017.
- Did you know: On 29 June 2017, there were 1,261 administrators on the English Wikipedia – the exact number of administrators as there were ten years ago on 29 June 2007. Since that time, the English Wikipedia has grown from 1.85 million articles to over 5.43 million.

New Page Reviewer Newsletter
Backlog update:
- The new page backlog is currently at 18,511 pages. We have worked hard to decrease from over 22,000, but more hard work is needed! Please consider reviewing even just a few pages a a day.
- Some editors are committing to work specifically on patrolling new pages on 15 July. If you have not reviewed new pages in a while, this might be a good time to be involved. Please remember that quality of patrolling is more important than quantity, that the speedy deletion criteria should be followed strictly, and that ovetagging for minor issues should be avoided.
Technology update:
- Several requests have been put into Phabractor to increase usability of the New Pages Feed and the Page Curation toolbar. For more details or to suggest improvements go to Wikipedia:Page Curation/Suggested improvements
- The tutorial has been updated to include links to the following useful userscripts. If you were not aware of them, they could be useful in your efforts reviewing new pages:
- User:Lourdes/PageCuration.js adds a link to the new pages feed and page curation toolbar to your top toolbar on Wikipedia
- User:The Earwig/copyvios.js adds a link in your side toolbox that will run the current page through
General project update:
- Following discussion at Wikipedia talk:New pages patrol/Reviewers, Wikipedia:New pages patrol/Noticeboard has been marked as historical. Wikipedia talk:New pages patrol/Reviewers is currently the most active central discussion forum for the New Page Patrol project. To keep up to date on the most recent discussions you can add it to your watchlist or visit it periodically.

- Anarchyte • GeneralizationsAreBad • Cullen328 (first RfA to reach WP:300)

- Following a series of discussions around new pages patrol, the WMF is helping implement a controlled autoconfirmed article creation trial as a research experiment, similar to the one proposed in 2011. You can learn more about the research plan at meta:Research:Autoconfirmed article creation trial. The exact start date of the experiment has yet to be determined.
- A new speedy deletion criterion, regarding articles created as a result undisclosed paid editing, is currently being discussed (permalink).
- An RfC (permalink) is currently open that proposes expanding WP:G13 to include all drafts, even if they weren't submitted through Articles for Creation.
- LoginNotify should soon be deployed to the English Wikipedia. This will notify users when there are suspicious login attempts on their account.
- The new version of XTools is nearing an official release. This suite of tools includes administrator statistics, an improved edit counter, among other tools that may benefit administrators. You can report issues on Phabricator and provide general feedback at mw:Talk:XTools.

Message by Legacypac regarding CSD 13
My close and edits to G13 were overturned in violation of policy [3] and WP:NAC. The result is very clear. Since you are uninvolved and just closed a related RfC would you be willing to recloze the other one? Legacypac (talk) 17:41, 4 August 2017 (UTC)
- @Legacypac: I added again the AWB part. However I cannot close the expansion part because I have participated in the discussion and !voted (or at least I remember doing so 😊). Cheers --Kostas20142 (talk) 17:51, 4 August 2017 (UTC)
- Indeed you were one of the 42 Support votes. In SoWhy's view the 12 Oppose votes including theirs makes consensus unclear. Legacypac (talk) 18:01, 4 August 2017 (UTC)

template you placed at Talk:Squab? The correct syntax should be {{subst:RM top|'''moved to Squab, and the page that previously held this name to [[Squab (disambiguation)]]{{RMpmc}}}}
. If I do it myself, it will show me as the closer and I have a conflict of interest.
Also, could you repost the subst:RM top
close at Talk:Muscat so that your signature appears. Thanks. — AjaxSmack 00:22, 12 August 2017 (UTC)

dear Kostas20142,
thank you for clerking at WP:CHUS this is always very welcome. However please note that the actual decision to rename or to reject is up to bureaucrats and global renamers. The done and notdone templates should only be used by these groups. Thank you.
Sincerely, Taketa (talk) 19:18, 17 August 2017 (UTC)
- @Taketa: Yes I know and I am sorry. I know that the decision is on crats and global renamers, however I just thought that these very actions I made were acceptable. ( didn't know about the bot either). Anyways thank you for notifying me. --Kostas20142 (talk) 17:12, 19 August 2017 (UTC)

Arbitration clerk trainee boilerplate
Hi Kostas20142. We have added you to the list of clerks and subscribed you to the mailing list (info: WP:AC/C#clerks-l). Welcome, and I look forward to working with you! To adjust your subscription options for the mailing list, see the link at mail:clerks-l. The mailing list works in the usual way, and the address to which new mailing list threads can be sent is clerks-llists.wikimedia.org. Useful reading for new clerks is the procedures page, WP:AC/C/P, but you will learn all the basic components of clerking on-the-job.
New clerks begin as a trainee, are listed as such at WP:AC/C#Personnel, and will remain so until they have learned all the aspects of the job. When you've finished training, which usually takes a couple of/a few months, then we'll propose to the Committee that you be made a full clerk. As a clerk, you'll need to check your e-mail regularly, as the mailing list is where the clerks co-ordinate (on-wiki co-ordination page also exists but is not used nearly as much). If you've any questions at any point of your traineeship, simply post to the mailing list.
Lastly, it might be useful if you enter your timezone into WP:AC/C#Personnel (in the same format as the other members have), so that we can estimate when we will have clerks available each day; this is, of course, at your discretion. Again, welcome! Regards, Kevin (aka L235 · t · c) 23:12, 21 August 2017 (UTC)
Kostas20142 appointed trainee clerk
The arbitration clerks are pleased to welcome Kostas20142 (talk · contribs) to the clerk team as a trainee!
The arbitration clerk team is often in need of new members, and any editor who would like to join the clerk team is welcome to apply by e-mail to clerks-llists.wikimedia.org.
For the Arbitration Committee, Kevin (aka L235 · t · c) 23:15, 21 August 2017 (UTC)

New Page Reviewer Newsletter
Backlog update:
- The new page backlog is currently at 16,991 pages. We have worked hard to decrease from over 22,000, but more hard work is needed! Please consider reviewing even just a few pages a a day.
Technology update:
- Rentier has created a NPP browser in WMF Labs that allows you to search new unreviewed pages using keywords and categories.
General project update:
- The Wikimedia Foundation Community Tech team is working with the community to implement the autoconfirmed article creation trial. The trial is currently set to start on 7 September 2017, pending final approval of the technical features.
- Please remember to focus on the quality of review: correct tagging of articles and not tagbombing are important. Searching for potential copyright violations is also important, and it can be aided by Earwig's Copyvio Detector, which can be added to your toolbar for ease of use with this user script.
- To keep up with the latest conversation on New Pages Patrol or to ask questions, you can go to Wikipedia talk:New pages patrol/Reviewers and add it to your watchlist.

Dispute question
Hello. I just wanted to get some clarification on this dispute. The case was closed because the other contributors failed to respond. So is it ok to add the disputed material to the page? The other contributors had plenty of time to respond, and they didn't. If you look at their editing history, you can see they were actively editing the site during the dispute, so they in a sense basically abandoned the discussion. As I and another user proved, there is a connection between all of the shows. It just seems unfair that they would not respond to the conversation and still technically win. --97.127.123.210 (talk) 23:52, 27 August 2017 (UTC)
Linking to templates
Hi Kostas20142. I noticed in this edit that you attempted to point a user to the template {{lowercase title}}, but wound up actually using (transcluding) the template onto the page rather than providing a link to it, which resulted in the changing username page having the lowercase title styling applied to it for a few days. In the future, if you would like to link to a template, please use Template:Tl to link to templates (e.g. {{tl|lowercase title}}
); this provides a link to the template without actually transcluding said template. Thanks, —k6ka 🍁 (Talk · Contributions) 01:01, 28 August 2017 (UTC)

Administrators' newsletter – September 2017
News and updates for administrators from the past month (August 2017).
- Nakon • Scott
- Sverdrup • Thespian • Elockid • James086 • Ffirehorse • Celestianpower • Boing! said Zebedee
- ACTRIAL, a research experiment that restricts article creation to autoconfirmed users, will begin on September 7. It will run for six months. You can learn more about the research specifics at meta:Research:Autoconfirmed article creation trial, while Wikipedia talk:Autoconfirmed article creation trial is probably the best venue for general discussion.
- Following an RfC, WP:G13 speedy deletion criterion now applies to any page in the draftspace that has not been edited in six months. There is a bot-generated report, updated daily, to help identify potentially qualifying drafts that have not been submitted through articles for creation.
- You will now get a notification when someone tries to log in to your account and fails. If they try from a device that has logged into your account before, you will be notified after five failed attempts. You can also set in your preferences to get an email when someone logs in to your account from a new device or IP address, which may be encouraged for admins and accounts with sensitive permissions.
- Syntax highlighting is now available as a beta feature (more info). This may assist administrators and template editors when dealing with intricate syntax of high-risk templates and system messages.
- In your notification preferences, you can now block specific users from pinging you. This functionality will soon be available for Special:EmailUser as well.
- Applications for CheckUser and Oversight are being accepted by the Arbitration Committee until September 12. Community discussion of the candidates will begin on September 18.

Clerking nitpicks
Hi Kostas20142, I noticed the link here needs to go to the noticeboard announcement, not self-referentially to the talk page section it's in. I'd have just changed it instead of poking you about it, except I assume since you're training you want to do it yourself. Also - sorry to be so pedantic - you spelled Kelapstick's name wrong in the announcement on several pages. I'm sure he doesn't care, and it's possible the best thing to do is not worry about it, but thought you'd want to know. --Floquenbeam (talk) 17:11, 18 September 2017 (UTC)
New Page Reviewer Newsletter
Backlog update:
- The new page backlog is currently at 14304 pages. We have worked hard to decrease from over 22,000, but more hard work is needed! Please consider reviewing even just a few pages a day.
- Currently there are 532 pages in the backlog that were created by non-autoconfirmed users before WP:ACTRIAL. The NPP project is undertaking a drive to clear these pages from the backlog before they hit the 90 day Google index point. Please consider reviewing a few today!
Technology update:
- The Wikimedia Foundation is currently working on creating a new filter for page curation that will allow new page patrollers to filter by extended confirmed status. For more information see: T175225
General project update:
- On 14 September 2017 the English Wikipedia began the autoconfirmed article creation trial. For a six month period, creation of articles in the mainspace of the English Wikipedia will be restricted to users with autoconfirmed status. New users who attempt article creation will now be redirected to a newly designed landing page.
- Before clicking on a reference or external link while reviewing a page, please be careful that the site looks trustworthy. If you have a question about the safety of clicking on a link, it is better not to click on it.
- To keep up with the latest conversation on New Pages Patrol or to ask questions, you can go to Wikipedia talk:New pages patrol/Reviewers and add it to your watchlist.

- Following a discussion about mass-application of ECP and how the need for logging and other details of an evolving consensus may have been missed by some administrators, a rough guide to extended confirmed protection has been written. This information page describes how the extended-confirmed aspects of the protection policy are currently being applied by administrators.
