Odd closure

How are you arriving, here, that "Consensus has been reached for ... 'Catalogues indicated by a name that is not an actual book title are italicized'", when no one seems to have argued for this other than Francis Schonken, and his argument for it was refuted in detail?  — SMcCandlish ¢ >ʌⱷ҅ʌ<  00:47, 7 October 2017 (UTC)

@SMcCandlish: Sorry for late reply but the discussion was old and I wanted to re-read it first. I am afraid it was a typo which you may fix using this permalink if you want to. However the discussion was really unfocused (and the result regarding #1 could be no consensus as well) so it might be better to start a new, focused RfC to gain a broader consensus since there has been, for example a suggestion regarding actual vs descriptive titles etc which has not been discussed. Please let me know what you prefer. --Kostas20142 (talk) 09:07, 7 October 2017 (UTC)
Much better if you fix it; if I were to do so, at least one of the parties (who has had issues with me since ca. 2008, and nothing seems to resolve them) is apt to cause drama. Not fixing it is apt to cause drama in the interim (going around italicizing library holdings, something that might spread beyond music). We do need to do another RfC, but MoS folks in particular tend not to re-RfC things until 6–18 months or more have passed (sometimes several year), to avoid "stop fussing over style" reactions; the community has limited patience for it, though such fussings actually go down in frequency the better MoS gets). PS: I don't see a permalink, so I'm not sure what the typo is anyway (e.g. "has not been reached", or "is an actual book title", or "are not italicized", or what. :-)  — SMcCandlish ¢ >ʌⱷ҅ʌ<  11:58, 7 October 2017 (UTC)
@SMcCandlish: Doneas are not iralicized but regretfully because I think that the discussion was neither appropriate nor adequate. I really think we need an RfC way before 18 months or so --Kostas20142 (talk) 12:38, 7 October 2017 (UTC)
Well, I guess you could have concluded with no consensus on that particular question. We could RfC it again sooner, but I'll be better prepared, and the case against randomly italicizing library holdings will be much stronger. The case for italicizing them has probably already been made in its entirety. I seriously doubt any new rationale or evidence will appear for it. The usage in the RS isn't consistent at all, with many of the "catalogues" that are actual published works not being italicized either; we italicize them because they are works.  — SMcCandlish ¢ >ʌⱷ҅ʌ<  02:13, 8 October 2017 (UTC)

Hey Kostas20142, I have reopened the RM discussion at Talk:Chishmy (urban-type settlement), Chishminsky District, Republic of Bashkortostan to address the contested move, hopefully to solicit opinions from more participants. I hope it's okay with you! Regards, Alex ShihTalk 06:05, 8 October 2017 (UTC)

@Alex Shih: Yes of course it is ok! Since there was such objection it was the best to do. Thank you for reverting it. (I would do it myself anyways if I was informed about it) --Kostas20142 (talk) 08:44, 8 October 2017 (UTC)

13:51:27, 9 October 2017 review of submission by Pacingpoet

Regarding the following rejection criteria: "This submission does not appear to be written in the formal tone expected of an encyclopedia article. Entries should be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources. Please rewrite your submission in a more encyclopedic format. Please make sure to avoid peacock terms that promote the subject."

The content rejected consists of a list of national-level awards, with online documentation linked from each award's source institution (independent, reliable, published). Could you please provide one or more examples of how the rejection criteria applies? Thank you in advance. Pacingpoet (talk) 13:51, 9 October 2017 (UTC)

@Pacingpoet: thank you for contacting me. First of all, regarding the article's tone, you have included several terms that should generally be avoided. To be more specific, "award-winning" is generally considered non-neutral and should generally be avoided. Same applies for the phrase "in recognition of her considerable service". From what I see you have fixed this issue. However please do read WP:WORDS for more information regarding words to avoid when you have time. Another issue is that the article focuses solely on her awards, and includes no other biographical information. Finally, the article doesn't seem to meet notability guidelines as WP:GNG or WP:NBIO and I failed finding sources proving the opposite. As for the awards, they are not well-known as required to establish notability. If you need more help, please feel free to ask me. --Kostas20142 (talk) 14:34, 9 October 2017 (UTC)
@Kostas20142:
  1. Thank you for acknowledging that neutral tone has been addressed. Can the header boiler-plate be removed?
  2. Regarding the lack of biographical information, can that issue be held with "this article is a stub" boiler-plate?
  3. As far as notability of awards, this selection of awards are the highest existing honors conferred by the most well-known national-level institutions in the field of secondary math education. (White House, MAA, MAT, ARML, Cornell,... the named awards themselves may not be well-known, but there are no higher honors for schoolteachers.) I have also added a research article published in 2016 by the American Economics Association, which cites Kay Tipton as a "star" math teacher, and ranks Vestavia #1 out of high-achieving schools across the U.S. based on MAA AMC-12 results over time. If the bar for notability were set any higher, then no secondary school educator could ever make the cut. Is this truly of less note and value to society than Kim Kardashian, who is famous for being famous? Please advise. (Thank you in advance.) Pacingpoet (talk) 21:56, 9 October 2017 (UTC)
@Pacingpoet: unfortunately, it is not sufficient to establish notability. Please also note that an article for the same person has already been deleted per discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Kay Tipton (2nd nomination). in my opinion, those arguements still apply. --Kostas20142 (talk) 10:20, 10 October 2017 (UTC)

Advice?

I thought, since I'd made about a 1000 words worth of oppose, I could at least give you at least half that in support. I don't think you're doing anything in bad faith, just that you're going the wrong way about this. A few other opposers noted that you were spreading yourself too thin and going for the position of career admin. The way I think you're most likely to find yourself getting the admin bit is to find something specific you're good at and you enjoy and work on that. You might want to note Megalibrarygirl's RfA which currently has 204 supports and 0 opposes and neutrals as an example. She's dedicated herself to the Woman in Red Wikiproject and wants the tools to accompany her in that role. Why does her role need the tools? a) Moves over occupied targets can only be done by admins, except redirects in some cases b) deleted articles are only visible to admins and she wants to salvage G13 deletions if possible, c) performing histmerges for the project and d) granting permissions for editathon participants (e.g. account creator). The thing that ties all of these tasks together is the Wikiproject. For you, I'd say spend the next little while working out what it is you enjoy doing here. It doesn't have to be just one thing, it can be two or three, but, it has to be things that you're going to get sufficient experience in and where you're going to have at least some measurable use for the tools. If you haven't found what it is you're most interested in doing to help the project out yet, try a bunch of different things till you find things that suit your interests. Then gain experience in those areas. If you see that you can make use of the admin tools, then re-apply. I'd say about a years worth of dedication to that would be enough, though I did personally suggest two. I'll use myself as an example, I do a heap of different things here. I've written some articles, I've made some templates and played around with modules, I've participated in all XfDs except FFD, I've been around the noticeboards, I used to do NPP (before it became a user right), I've done anti-vandal work, and smaller amounts of other things too. I'm not dedicated to any one thing, and I don't have a tangible reason to say "hey, I could really use those admin tools to help me out here". I know people say that "a demonstrated need" is not necessary, but, "a demonstrated need" is a significant boost and especially when dealing with editors with less experience. Hope the advice is useful to you, Mr rnddude (talk) 06:23, 12 October 2017 (UTC)

@Mr rnddude: Thank you for your constructive comments. I will spend the next few days doing what you suggested, and reading again the opposes. I will try finding one or two things to stick with ( in addition to clerking at ArbCom) and maybe re-run later on. However I don't think it is bad to do other task than your main as well. Anyways, thank you for your comments.

Best regards, Kostas20142 (talk) 14:08, 12 October 2017 (UTC)

  • To add my unsolicited opinion as well, I didn't think it was a bad idea to run; I've personally always find opinions on RfA to be more helpful and constructive in comparison to relatively newer places like ORCP. Anarchyte and GeneralizationsAreBad would probably be the better examples. Of course it's good to work on tasks in many different areas (I try to do that too), but it's necessary to have strong presence in one area, and I think that was the point. Alex ShihTalk 17:19, 12 October 2017 (UTC)
@Alex Shih: Yes, I get your point. Thank you for your input! --Kostas20142 (talk) 17:29, 12 October 2017 (UTC)

DRN Coordinator

As your activity at WP:DRN is sparse at best, I am going to ask that you pass on the coordinator roll to me as I am next in line and currently one of the most active editors on the page. The coordinator page states "It will be best if you are active as a volunteer at DRN for at least the month preceding the date on which you are to take over the coordinator position so that you are familiar with the current issues, trends, and pending cases". Thanks. Nihlus 19:29, 28 October 2017 (UTC)

ANI Experiences survey

Beginning on November 28, 2017, the Wikimedia Foundation Community health initiative (Safety and Support and Anti-Harassment Tools team) will be conducting a survey to en.wikipedia contributors on their experience and satisfaction level with the Administrator’s Noticeboard/Incidents. This survey will be integral to gathering information about how this noticeboard works - which problems it deals with well, and which problems it struggles with.

The survey should take 10-20 minutes to answer, and your individual responses will not be made public. The survey is delivered through Google Forms. The privacy policy for the survey describes how and when Wikimedia collects, uses, and shares the information we receive from survey participants and can be found here:

New Page Reviewing

Hello, Kostas20142.

I've seen you editing recently and you seem knowledgeable about Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
Would you please consider becoming a New Page Reviewer? Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time but it requires a good understanding of Wikipedia policies and guidelines; currently Wikipedia needs experienced users at this task. (After gaining the flag, patrolling is not mandatory. One can do it at their convenience). But kindly read the tutorial before making your decision. Thanks. — Insertcleverphrasehere (or here) 09:25, 28 November 2017 (UTC)

@Insertcleverphrasehere: Thank you for your invitation. However, I am already a NPP, even if I was not very active in that lately! I will be more active in that after I finish with some tasks. Thanks again! --Kostas20142 (talk) 19:22, 29 November 2017 (UTC)
Sorry about that. I usually check for the flag but you must have fallen through the cracks. Cheers mate. — Insertcleverphrasehere (or here) 19:37, 29 November 2017 (UTC)

I received this notice, and I either did something during Happy Hour that I'm not aware of (j/k) or I received the wrong notice. I vaguely remember making a statement somewhere but would you be so kind as to provide a direct link to that statement? Atsme📞📧 22:31, 1 December 2017 (UTC)

@Atsme: You have actually received the right notice (which is admittedly a bit vague). You can find the statement you provided here. Do not worry, it is just standard procedure to notify everyone who provided a statement for a case request should the case be accepted. If you wish to participate to the rest of the case, review the instructions provided and feel free to ask me any questions. ArbCom 2017 election voter message

Hello, Kostas20142. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2017 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 3 December 2017 (UTC)

Guideline and policy news

  • Following a request for comment, a new section has been added to the username policy which disallows usernames containing emoji, emoticons or otherwise "decorative" usernames, and usernames that use any non-language symbols. Administrators should discuss issues related to these types of usernames before blocking.

Miscellaneous

  • Over the last few months, several users have reported backlogs that require administrator attention at WP:ANI, with the most common backlogs showing up on WP:SPI, WP:AIV and WP:RFPP. It is requested that all administrators take some time during this month to help clear backlogs wherever possible. It should be noted that AIV reports are not always valid; however, they still need to be cleared, which may include needing to remind users on what qualifies as vandalism.
  • The Wikimedia Foundation Community health initiative is conducting a survey for English Wikipedia contributors on their experience and satisfaction level with Administrator’s Noticeboard/Incidents. This survey will be integral to gathering information about how this noticeboard works (i.e. which problems it deals with well and which problems it struggles with). If you would like to take this survey, please sign up on this page, and a link for the survey will be emailed to you via Special:EmailUser.

Frivolous ARB request

Hi, Kostas20142

Sorry if I am bit interfering here. What is the minimum time-wait before frivolous ARB request get archived or removed completely?. I suggest, you take look at the current very premature request which have been declined by several Arbitrators. Because the parties continue posting non ArB related comments. Thanks. –Ammarpad (talk) 14:37, 21 December 2017 (UTC)

@Ammarpad: No worries. Since the case has to do with dispute resolution, to some extent, it has to be archived per the standard procedure which requires that 48 hours since it had been filed have elapsed. So it will be archived some hours later. Regarding your other concern, I don't really find anything that really requires an action to be taken, at least for the time being. However I will keep an eye on it (already do) until it can be archived. --Kostas20142 (talk) 17:08, 21 December 2017 (UTC)

New Page Reviewer Newsletter

Hello KonstantinaG07, thank you for your efforts reviewing new pages!

Backlog update:

  • The new page backlog is currently at 12713 pages. Please consider reviewing even just a few pages each day! If everyone helps out, it will really put a dent in the backlog.
  • Currently the backlog stretches back to March and some pages in the backlog have passed the 90 day Google index point. Please consider reviewing some of them!

Outreach and Invitations:

  • If you know other editors with a good understanding of Wikipedia policy, invite them to join NPP by dropping the invitation template on their talk page with: {{subst:NPR invite}}. Adding more qualified reviewers will help with keeping the backlog manageable.

New Year New Page Review Drive

  • A backlog drive is planned for the start of the year, beginning on January 1st and running until the end of the month. Unique prizes will be given in tiers for both the total number of reviews made, as well as the longest 'streak' maintained.
  • Note: quality reviewing is extremely important, please do not sacrifice quality for quantity.

General project update:

  • ACTRIAL has resulted in a significant increase in the quality of new submissions, with noticeably fewer CSD, PROD, and BLPPROD candidates in the new page feed. However, the majority of the backlog still dates back to before ACTRIAL started, so consider reviewing articles from the middle or back of the backlog.
  • The NPP Browser can help you quickly find articles with topics that you prefer to review from within the backlog.
  • To keep up with the latest conversation on New Pages Patrol or to ask questions, you can go to Wikipedia talk:New pages patrol/Reviewers and add it to your watchlist.

If you wish to opt-out of future mailings, go here. TonyBallioni (talk) 20:27, 12 December 2017 (UTC)

"Fixing ping"

Hi. Regarding [1]: you fixed the typo, but that won't generate a notification. From Wikipedia:Notifications: "if the mention is not on a completely new line with a new signature, no notification will be sent.".

Apologies if you already knew that, but many people don't. As an aside, turning on notification of "Successful mention" in preferences is a relatively recent enhancement that has helped me to realise when I need to recover from typos in pings, but said recovery has always needed to be either completely removing the flawed post, saving, then posting again, correctly, or adding the ping in a separate, new post. Cheers. -- Begoon 11:48, 16 December 2017 (UTC)

Thanks for the feedback. We can certainly add some citations. Was there anything specifically that was lacking here?

Thanks, ottomunaiz

@Ottomunaiz: Hello and thank you for contacting me. First of all, please remove all Wikipedia citations; other Wikipedia articles may not be used as references. Also, please read WP:RS for instructions regarding which sources can be considered reliable and which not. Also, the sources you will provide must also demonstrate that the subject of the submission meets WP:GNG or WP:NCORP. Statements like who founded it and when, or in which platforms is this software available are some examples of statements that need to be supported by reliable sources, as described above. New Years new page backlog drive

Hello KonstantinaG07, thank you for your efforts reviewing new pages!

Announcing the NPP New Year Backlog Drive!

We have done amazing work so far in December to reduce the New Pages Feed backlog by over 3000 articles! Now is the time to capitalise on our momentum and help eliminate the backlog!

The backlog drive will begin on January 1st and run until January 29th. Prize tiers and other info can be found HERE.

Awards will be given in tiers in two categories:

  • The total number of reviews completed for the month.
  • The minimum weekly total maintained for all four weeks of the backlog drive.

NOTE: It is extremely important that we focus on quality reviewing. Despite our goal of reducing the backlog as much as possible, please do not rush while reviewing.

10:07:46, 2 January 2018 review of submission by Jamesslany

Hi Kostas20142, I have added some more links and citations as you suggested. I could add plenty more but I think they would be redundant. Regarding notability, I honestly don't think there is an issue with this page. The building is exceptionally well-known in the Czech Republic, both for its architectural significance and for its history - in much the same way as say Harrods is well known in the UK.

This is also a compressed version of the much longer article on CZ Wikipedia. Jamesslany (talk) 10:07, 2 January 2018 (UTC)

This is my first time adding a page - so apologies if I am getting things wrong :)

ARBCOM

I steer clear of the place, normally, so my lack of "evidence" is a mistake. Could you perhaps point to the PA you make reference to? CassiantoTalk 12:29, 25 January 2018 (UTC)

@Cassianto: Yes of course, and sorry for my late response. Regarding the evidence part, the stalking accusations I removed were serious yet not really supported by evidence (you didn't provide any related). For the other part, those cesspits of the internet, that mainly contain trolls and social inadequates, who stand on platforms to voice their sick views, well it was definitely not leading anywhere as phrased and read like PA. Feel free to re-add them both provided that you rephrase them and support them with evidence. Also, although I didn't take any action, please remove characterizations as sick etc. They can lead only to heating the conversation up which I am sure that your goal isn't. --Kostas20142 (talk) 13:23, 25 January 2018 (UTC)

New Page Reviewer Newsletter

Hello KonstantinaG07, thank you for your efforts in reviewing new pages!
The NPP backlog at the end of the drive with the number of unreviewed articles by creation date. Red is older than 90 days, orange is between 90 and 30 days old, and green is younger than 30 days.

Backlog update:

  • The new page backlog is currently at 3819 unreviewed articles, with a further 6660 unreviewed redirects.
  • We are very close to eliminating the backlog completely; please help by reviewing a few extra articles each day!

New Year Backlog Drive results:

  • We made massive progress during the recent four weeks of the NPP Backlog Drive, during which the backlog reduced by nearly six thousand articles and the length of the backlog by almost 3 months!

General project update:

  • ACTRIAL will end it's initial phase on the 14th of March. Our goal is to reduce the backlog significantly below the 90 day index point by the 14th of March. Please consider helping with this goal by reviewing a few additional pages a day.
  • Reviewing redirects is an important and necessary part of New Page Patrol. Please read the guideline on appropriate redirects for advice on reviewing redirects. Inappropriate redirects can be re-targeted or nominated for deletion at RfD.

Small copy edit suggestion

Hi. You recently left me a message which began: "You had recently provided a statement regarding a request for arbitration." (do you see what I did there?)

It's really no big thing, but I assume this is some form of template, and the word "had" seems... well, at best superfluous. Anyway, thanks for your note, and I hope you don't find my note too trivial and nit-picking - sometimes I just can't seem to prevent myself from mentioning stuff like this. -- Begoon 06:00, 8 February 2018 (UTC)

@Begoon: Yes, you are right; I should omit it next time. Thanks for your note! No, don't worry a suggestion is always helpful :) --Kostas20142 (talk) 12:00, 8 February 2018 (UTC)

Request for additional diffs and words

Hi Kostas20142. I am requesting to be allowed to provide more diffs and words in the Joefromrandb and others arbitration case. When I requested a case, I did not realize how extensive the battleground behavior actual is, even just in the last year. I think I could get by with 130 diffs and 1250 words. Thank you.- MrX 🖋 16:20, 8 February 2018 (UTC)

@MrX: Your request is accepted and your limit is extended to 130 diffs and 1250. However please ensure that your evidence are concise and your prose is not longer than necessary, as this would make them less effective. --Kostas20142 (talk) 21:00, 8 February 2018 (UTC)

Template editor granted

Your account has been granted the "templateeditor" user permission, allowing you to edit templates and modules that have been protected with template protection. It also allows you to bypass the title blacklist, giving you the ability to create and edit editnotices. Before you use this user right, please read Wikipedia:Template editor and make sure you understand its contents. In particular, you should read the section on wise template editing and the criteria for revocation.

You can use this user right to perform maintenance, answer edit requests, and make any other simple and generally uncontroversial edits to templates, modules, and edinotices. You can also use it to enact more complex or controversial edits, after those edits are first made to a test sandbox, and their technical reliability as well as their consensus among other informed editors has been established. If you are willing to process edit requests on templates and modules, keep in mind that you are taking responsibility to ensure the edits have consensus and are technically sound.

This user right gives you access to some of Wikipedia's most important templates and modules; it is critical that you edit them wisely and that you only make edits that are backed up by consensus. It is also very important that no one else be allowed to access your account, so you should consider taking a few moments to secure your password.

If you do not want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time.

If you were granted the permission on a temporary basis you will need to re-apply for the permission a few days before it expires including in your request a permalink to the discussion where it was granted and a {{ping}} for the administrator who granted the permission. You can find the permalink in your rights log.

Administrators' newsletter – March 2018

News and updates for administrators from the past month (February 2018).

Administrator changes

added Lourdes
removed AngelOfSadnessBhadaniChris 73CorenFridayMidomMike V
† Lourdes has requested that her admin rights be temporarily removed, pending her return from travel.

Guideline and policy news

  • The autoconfirmed article creation trial (ACTRIAL) is scheduled to end on 14 March 2018. The results of the research collected can be read on Meta Wiki.
  • Community ban discussions must now stay open for at least 24 hours prior to being closed.
  • A change to the administrator inactivity policy has been proposed. Under the proposal, if an administrator has not used their admin tools for a period of five years and is subsequently desysopped for inactivity, the administrator would have to file a new RfA in order to regain the tools.
  • A change to the banning policy has been proposed which would specify conditions under which a repeat sockmaster may be considered de facto banned, reducing the need to start a community ban discussion for these users.

Technical news

  • CheckUsers are now able to view private data such as IP addresses from the edit filter log, e.g. when the filter prevents a user from creating an account. Previously, this information was unavailable to CheckUsers because access to it could not be logged.
  • The edit filter has a new feature contains_all that edit filter managers may use to check if one or more strings are all contained in another given string.

Miscellaneous

Obituaries

  • Bhadani (Gangadhar Bhadani) passed away on 8 February 2018. Bhadani joined Wikipedia in March 2005 and became an administrator in September 2005. While he was active, Bhadani was regarded as one of the most prolific Wikipedians from India.

Administrators' newsletter – April 2018

News and updates for administrators from the past month (March 2018).

Administrator changes

added 331dotCordless LarryClueBot NG
removed Gogo DodoPb30SebastiankesselSeicerSoLando

Guideline and policy news

  • Administrators who have been desysopped due to inactivity are now required to have performed at least one (logged) administrative action in the past 5 years in order to qualify for a resysop without going through a new RfA.
  • Editors who have been found to have engaged in sockpuppetry on at least two occasions after an initial indefinite block, for whatever reason, are now automatically considered banned by the community without the need to start a ban discussion.
  • The notability guideline for organizations and companies has been substantially rewritten following the closure of this request for comment. Among the changes, the guideline more clearly defines the sourcing requirements needed for organizations and companies to be considered notable.
  • The six-month autoconfirmed article creation trial (ACTRIAL) ended on 14 March 2018. The post-trial research report has been published. A request for comment is now underway to determine whether the restrictions from ACTRIAL should be implemented permanently.

Technical news

Arbitration

  • The Arbitration Committee is considering a change to the discretionary sanctions procedures which would require an editor to appeal a sanction to the community at WP:AE or WP:AN prior to appealing directly to the Arbitration Committee at WP:ARCA.

Miscellaneous

  • A discussion has closed which concluded that administrators are not required to enable email, though many editors suggested doing so as a matter of best practice.
  • The Foundations' Anti-Harassment Tools team has released the Interaction Timeline. This shows a chronologic history for two users on pages where they have both made edits, which may be helpful in identifying sockpuppetry and investigating editing disputes.

New Page Reviewer Flag

Hi, Kostas20142.
I've noticed that you are an AfC reviewer but don't yet have the New Page Reviewer flag. Would you please consider heading over to PERM and requesting it? (check the flag requirements HERE)
As part of a larger plan to increase cooperation between New Page Patrol and Articles for creation, we are trying to get as many of the active AfC reviewers as possible under the NPR user flag (per this discussion). Unlike the AfC request list, the NPR flag carries no obligation to review new articles, so I'm not asking you to help out at New Page Patrol if you don't want to, just to request the flag.
Of course, if it is something you would be interested in, you can have a look at the NPP tutorial. Please mention that you are an active AfC reviewer in your application.
Cheers and thanks for helping out at AfC, — Insertcleverphrasehere (or here) 06:33, 11 April 2018 (UTC)

New page reviewer granted

Hello Kostas20142. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers" user group, allowing you to review new pages and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or in some cases, tag them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is a vital function for policing the quality of the encylopedia; if you have not already done so, you must read the new tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the various deletion criteria. If you need more help or wish to discuss the process, please join or start a thread at page reviewer talk.

  • URGENT: Please consider helping get the huge backlog down to a manageable number of pages as soon as possible.
  • Be nice to new users - they are often not aware of doing anything wrong.
  • You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted - be formal and polite in your approach to them too, even if they are not.
  • Don't review a page if you are not sure what to do. Just leave it for another reviewer.
  • Remember that quality is quintessential to good patrolling. Take your time to patrol each article, there is no rush. Use the message feature and offer basic advice.

The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In case of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, the right can be revoked at any time by an administrator. ~ Amory (utc) 11:56, 11 April 2018 (UTC)

Request on 14:59:22, 13 April 2018 for assistance on AfC submission by Zhaofeng-shu33

I am a newbie to Wikipedia. I created a new page Draft:ACE (alternating conditional expectations) which was declined by you. But I do not know why.

Can you show me more specifically why the article is not suitable? Wikipedia:What_Wikipedia_is_not has too many points. Zhaofeng-shu33 (talk) 14:59, 13 April 2018 (UTC)

@Zhaofeng-shu33: Basically, it is too technical and a reader not that is not familiar with the subject and its basic concepts has trouble understanding what all this is about. Please take a look here. Also, could you explain to me what exactly is this algorithm, and to what science is it related? In that way I could find the relevant Wikiproject, where people familiar with this kind of topics could assist you improving your submission. --Kostas20142 (talk) 10:13, 14 April 2018 (UTC)
