A kitten for you!

I think we got off on the wrong foot. I was just a bit upset at you calling my edits disruptive, which is fair because I only became an afc reviewer yesterday. I apologise for not accepting your drafts, most of the drafts I have reviewed were on recent people and not old people. I understand that it can be hard to get sources for actors from years ago. I will promise to try and review drafts more carefully, instead of assuming it is not notable because of how much references it has. I think that you are more experienced with the notability policy than I am. I wonder why do you continue to go through the afc system when you can create articles yourself without going through afc. It doesn't really matter, if that is your general preference. Anyway bye.

I've left a comment on your Articles for Creation submission, which can be viewed at Draft:She's Too Mean for Me. Thanks! DGG ( talk ) 04:32, 10 August 2021 (UTC)

Urgent advice

You're going too fast again. Now that you are writing decent quality articles, you should try to get all of your articles to a decent level before you submit them. I am trying to help, but I cannot keep up with you. It shouldn't take several successive tries before you realize the need to put in enough material. Every time you write one that's inadequate, you make it harder yourself and everyone reviewing these.

I think trying to limit yourself in some artificial manner would help, likfe perhaps 5 a week and no more. That's better than trying to do 15, with most of them needing to be done over. DGG ( talk ) 04:41, 10 August 2021 (UTC)

The entry you rejected User:DGG notes that "Numerous recordings of his songs were made including on Victor Records and Columbia Records.[1]" As I noted on the page when I resubmitted, recording artists with at least two albums on major labels are considered notable. If you want to expand have at it but he clearly meets the notability threshold.
The problem is not that I'm going too fast but that Wikipedia doesn't have an entry on him or the Draft:National Half Century Exposition and Lincoln Jubilee and Draft:Peter P. Jones and so mamy similar important subjects.
Let's get our shit together and stop making ediitng difficult for those trying to fix the problem. Guess whose song composition backs the Exposition photographer's photo album? Tom Lemonier. FloridaArmy (talk) 06:05, 10 August 2021 (UTC)
In some WPs, like deWP, an indirect reference like that would be enough. In the enWP it's considered an example of vague writing, and most people, including myself, would not consider it an acceptable proof of notability. We expect direct references to the facts that show the notability. You will surely have noticed that I have been checking your page to identify articles that other reviews have declined, that I think are sufficiently acceptable to pass afd, and have therefore accepted-- and almost everything of your's I've accepted have stayed in wp. Except for the work I've done to help you, I think half of what you;ve written would have been declined or deleted, and i wouldn't have been surprised if further action had been taken beyond the existing topic ban from starting articles in main space. The reason I am trying to help is because you are covering fields that interest me, and especially that you have been covering the contributions that segregated education institutes have made, and the roles of Black politicians during the reconstruction. I don't think anyone else is doing that work, and I thinks it's extremely important work. don't shoot the messanger--you should realize what would happen if I got too frustrated to continue defending and improving your work. DGG ( talk ) 09:57, 10 August 2021 (UTC)
Hi FloridaArmy, to a large extent I'd like to echo DGG's sentiments. To a large extent I understand what you are trying to do: there are so many, many encyclopedic topics that are getting no attention, and it's better to have something rather than nothing. However, the "something" that is being presented in your stub articles do not make it clear the topic is notable by the prose, and they require a LOT of cleanup. For instance, I may get around to the "Babe" Wallace article, because there is a LOT more that can be added from the sources, but at the snail's pace at which I work on articles I'll never keep up with your prolific output, even for those articles that are in my area of expertise. I think just a little more time spent on each article, highlighting the notable aspects of the topic rather than throwing out references and one random fact from that reference would increase the percentage of "accepts" you get at AfC, which in turn would have the benefit of allowing you more time to do your research instead of wasting time resubmitting.
Regarding Draft:Tom Lemonier, the problem is that you are confusing notability for a recording artist with that of a composer. Lemonier was the composer of several recorded tunes from the turn of the last century. However, he is not the recording artist. Therefore WP:COMPOSER applies, but not WP:MUSICBIO, which is the basis of your argument. I think he is definately notable as a composer, because from 1890 to 1920, except for celebrity opera singers and a few celebrity vaudvillians such as Cal Stewart, the artist was not important but the song was all-important. A record company of that era did not record a song unless it was *already* a hit. Therefore it is clear to me, but only because of my background and area of study, that this composer had many hits at the turn of the last century, and is therefore notable. Unfortunately I doubt I have the persuasive rhetoric to convince WP to modify it's notability standards for composers to make this rather narrow distinction. Probably articles need to be written about these compositions first, demonstrating their notability, and then notability can be demonstrated per COMPOSER#1. I hope this is slightly helpful. 78.26 (spin me / revolutions) 13:40, 10 August 2021 (UTC)
>P.S. "Dear Old Moonlight" which I found out is composed by Lemonier thanks to your draft, is one of my favorite cylinder records in my collection. 78.26 (spin me / revolutions) 13:45, 10 August 2021 (UTC)

As you know, I consider schools like this to be intrinsically notable, and for many years the community did accept this, But a few years ago at the schools RfC, it was decided by the closers--in my opinion incorrectly--that something more than this was needed, I had argued for this so many times over he years, that I have become unwilling to argue it further. For those schools which had a significant role in the era of segregation, there can sometimes be enough documentation, and I think those can be defended, I think those with substantial numbers of notable alumni can also be defended. But if I were to pass this, it would almost certain be deleted at AfD. What does work, is adding it to a list of schools in the scool district or equivalent, and making a redirect. DGG ( talk ) 17:54, 10 August 2021 (UTC)
K-12 Blue Ribbon school. In order to understand segregated schools and school systems we need to cover the white and black schools. Not the end of the world. I will merge to the school district despite common sense, undue, and spinout guidelines. I would be shocked if this article was deleted at AFD and your refusal to accept it prevents such a discussion from taking place. Unfortunate. FloridaArmy (talk) 21:08, 10 August 2021 (UTC)

Turner Industrial School moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, Turner Industrial School, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. A tag has been placed on Albert Alexander Smith requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section R2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect from the article namespace to a different namespace except the Category, Template, Wikipedia, Help, or Portal namespaces.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
