Speedy deletion declined: Georgia Tech.

Hello Disavian. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Georgia Tech., a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: R3 only applies to recently created, implausible redirects. This one is not recent, and is quite plausible. Redirects are cheap, and deleting saves no space. Thank you. JohnCD (talk) 10:43, 23 February 2011 (UTC)

My issue is that the redirect is "Georgia Tech" with a period after it. There's a well-used redirect, Georgia Tech, and that's fine. Let's take the Kantian view of wiki editing - would you create a redirect for every article with a period at the end of the name? Georgia Aquarium

Just curious what you think is disqualifying Georgia Aquarium from B-class status. It looks to me like it's pretty well written in general, and has adequate references and support for a B-class article. Admittedly it needs work if someone wants to take it to GA, but that's a separate discussion. In particular, if you are going to de-rate it, it would be good if you could show which of the B-class tests it fails for you. The Zoo banner has the ability to add this info, and currently shows all items passing (yes, I did that, but if you disagree we can change it). I am not objecting to the de-rating per se. I am just trying to make sure I understand why so we can indicate this on the talk page and can eventually get around to fixing it to everyone's satisfaction. James Boyd

James Boyd (1906–1998) was an American physicist, mathematician, and academic administrator. He was director of the Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) from 1957 to 1961, president of West Georgia College from 1961 to 1971, and acting president of the Georgia Institute of Technology from 1971 to 1972. Along with two fellow Georgia Tech researchers, Boyd co-founded Scientific Atlanta, where he was a board member for 25 years. As director of the Engineering Experiment Station (now GTRI), Boyd was involved with the establishment of nuclear research at Georgia Tech and the construction of the Neely Nuclear Research Center. As president of West Georgia College, Boyd oversaw the racial integration of the campus in 1963, unprompted by a court order. In 1971, Boyd was assigned as interim president of Georgia Tech following a brief tenure as a vice chancellor for the University System of Georgia. At Georgia Tech, Boyd resolved issues involving the attempted takeover of the Engineering Experiment Station by former president Arthur G. Hansen and alumni calls to fire head football coach Bud Carson. (more...)

Mike and I actually know each other from a completely different interwebz thing (some tv boards). The only time we've interacted here was when we figured out we were both wikidorks. Copying within Wikipedia

It looks like you moved text from James Randi Educational Foundation to The Amaz!ng Meeting. Good, however the edit at the destination page should not use an edit summary like "creating article". Instead, it should have a link to the source from where it was taken (for example, "moved text from James Randi Educational Foundation"). See WP:CWW. This is just FYI—no need for a reply.
