Peer review limits changed

This is a notice to all users who currently have at least one open peer review at Wikipedia:Peer review. Because of the large number of peer review requests and relatively low number of reviewers, the backlog of PRs has been at 20 or more almost continually for several months. The backlog is for PR requests which have gone at least four days without comments, and some of these have gone two weeks or longer waiting for a review.

While we have been able to eventually review all PRs that remain on the backlog, something had to change. As a result of the discussion here, the consensus was that all users are now limited to one (1) open peer review request.

If you already have more than one open PR, that is OK in this transition period, but you cannot open any more until all your active PR requests have been closed. If you would like someone to close a PR for you, please ask at Wikipedia talk:Peer review. Yes, this is looking better, especially the layout, and as far as I can tell, the article is comprehensive. I took the liberty of adding a caption to the lead image, and I did a bit of proofing in the uppermost section and fiddled with some links in the table. Randomly poking about, I see other small problems that will need attention. For example, it appears to me that Raymond C. Perrault is actually Charles Raymond Perrault but goes by C. Raymond Perrault. I noticed this because the "Dr" in citation 48 caught my eye; click through, and you will see what I mean. This means, alas, that the Raymond C. Perrault article probably has a flawed title that needs fixing. For another example, citation 28 looked odd to me, and when I clicked through, I got a message saying "Our Web Site Has Moved". To fix this, I think you can just replace the old URL with the new one.

In my experience, it's often hard to find sources for large blocks of text that someone else has added without citations. I try my best to retain the work of others, but when push comes to shove, I don't feel bad about deleting unsourced material. To satisfy WP:V, you may find it necessary to delete parts of the existing article. In the process of doing that and of adding things you have sources for, you will probably eliminate small errors made by earlier editors and introduce some new ones. I think that's inevitable. For that reason, I think it would be premature for me (or anyone) to review the article line-by-line at this point. However, when you think the article satisfies WP:V, I'd be happy to review it again. Just let me know. Finetooth (talk) 19:22, 17 February 2012 (UTC)

When you run into an article that is devoid of material, it can and should be deleted. That is why is was deleted. It is possible that it is notable, but just owning a company that is notable does not make the parent company notable. If you think that this one is notable, you can get some references and create an article with more than one sentence. That should keep it from being speedy deleted. Hi, the image you tagged for speedy deletion is not the same one that the one in File:SRI Computer Mouse.jpg so it doesn't qualify under criterion F1, which is for versions of the same image (not the same object in the image). Could you remove the speedy tag?

I didn't know there was this image of the prototype licensed for free usage File:SRI Computer Mouse.jpg. I still think the fair use image has historical value and provides a better understanding of the prototype than the licensed one, so this should be discussed in more detail. Yeah, no problem. I just think that it is a freely licensed alternative to an image that is claimed under fair use, so I'm pretty sure that I used the appropriate image tag. At least you know there is an alternative now :) Disavian (talk) 21:07, 25 February 2012 (UTC)

Ultra AP

In the Ultra AP page, it talks about Humvee replacement. It is in the Humvee replacement section and the Humvee replacement process page. I was clarifying that the Ultra AP was not part of the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle program to replace the humvee, since it is connected to articles about replacement.
