Stub tags
Please take care not to add a stub tag to an article like Qızılarx which already has a subject-specific stub tag - it wastes the time of other editors. Please note also that stub tags go at the end of the article, not the top (see WP:ORDER): if you had been putting it in the right place you would probably have spotted the existing {{Shaki-geo-stub}}. It is also helpful to stub-sorters if you use a small "s" for the {{stub}} tag when you add it, because it's a couple of keystrokes less when we come to change it to a more detailed stub type - and a couple of keystrokes, times a lot of articles, is quite a worthwhile amount of effort to save! Welcome to WP and Happy Editing, but please take care to learn about what you are doing. Thanks. PamD 14:09, 29 March 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Alan deSouza (disambiguation)
A tag has been placed on Alan deSouza (disambiguation) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G6 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an orphaned disambiguation page which either
- disambiguates two or fewer extant Wikipedia pages and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic); or
- disambiguates no (zero) extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title.
Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Chris Mann (academic)
Hi Darylgolden, you declined Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Chris Mann (academic) because of notability issues. However, it is clearly evident from the book source and the two academic papers about Mann that he is a notable poet, active for over 30 years. Why on earth did you accept that without changing the title to something a little less ludicrous? I've moved it to Pecce Peccenini.--Launchballer 12:26, 16 October 2013 (UTC)
- Well, I don't know a lot about names, so I didn't know "Luigi Tiziano" was ludicrous. My apologies. Have a nice day! Darylgolden (talk) 12:31, 16 October 2013 (UTC)
- Per WP:Naming conventions only the most common name was required. I could've left it were it not for the comma there, which is expressly forbidden in names. However, having had a look at what other language wikis call it, they seem to favour Luigi, so I've moved it again to Luigi Peccenini.--Launchballer 12:40, 16 October 2013 (UTC)

Hi Daryl, I noted that you contested the deletion of this page. Note that the page disambiguated only two topics. The same task is accomplished by the hatnotes that you added at the top of the two pages. If someone with a similar name has an article created, we can recreate the disambiguation page at that point. from John Rester Zodrow re: article ready
Hi, Darylgolden,
thank you for pointing out that the first two paragraphs of the article needed sources. I have reduce the two paragraphs to one with a single source and deleted all the stuff that did not have citations. The article is trimmed and sourced now.
I hope you will take another look when you have a chance before I re-submit.

- Hi, I have seen the article and I think that it is better now. However, you might have problems with notablility - if he has any awards, you might want to list it down. However, please do not "boast" about it - just list them down as if you don't care about them. Best of luck for your submission! Have a nice day! Darylgolden (talk) 10:57, 18 October 2013 (UTC)

Edits to Alec - Inconsistency?
Hello Darylgolden. I see that you reverted the additions I made to Alec. I was merely adding a first-hand source and back-up for the existing statement of Alec Fullbright eating rotten eggsnfor brekfast and also that he is a cool fatnlittleman child. I think these truths are self evident but needed more fleshing out, and I think that you provided an implicit (if not, in fact, explicit) agreement with said truths as you have left these statements in the article. Why, then, have you removed my edits which served to reinforce these statements? Please advise. 171.159.192.10 (talk) 23:37, 17 October 2013 (UTC)
- I don't think the facts are self evident. How do you know he eats rotten eggs for breakfast? You need to provide a reliable source for that. Even if they can be verified, however, I don't think these facts are important to the article. Adding "he is a cool fatnlittleman child" is adding your own opinion and is not allowed as we're trying to create an encyclopedia. Have a nice day! Darylgolden (talk) 23:41, 17 October 2013 (UTC)

Good Morning. Thank you so much for reviewing the article and giving your valuable feedback. I have provided the relaible resources as far as i got it from extensive search. My intesion was to write a good article on such type of dancers, but i didn't write much becoz i thought providing relaible resources is more important and i just kep the content less. It would be really really helpful if u can suggest me and help me in improving this article and resubmitting it. I am new to article writing, hope i will get help from experienced admins like you.

Reversion of page Culture shock Festival
you recently reverted my changes to the page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Culture_Shock_festival . I was on the student government at that point and remember it being a major issue of the name change from Culture Shock to the name used that year of "Vulture Cock". In the end it was the official name of the festival and could not be changed as all contracts up until that point were negotiated at that name (or at least that was the reasoning the coordinator gave). If this page is notable enough for a wikipedia entry it should be accurate and contain the proper name of the festival for that year. Unfortunatley due to the time the concert took place the only records online I have are Livejournal entries and this forums post : http://www.ilxor.com/ILX/ThreadSelectedControllerServlet?boardid=41&threadid=28504. I was on the student government when the concert took place, so take that as you will. Thank you for your time.
Otherwise I would suggest deletion of the page since none of it is sourced, and it's noteworthiness is dubious.Edmundlava (talk) 06:18, 4 November 2013 (UTC)

Hi Darylgolden,
Have an issue with a page I follow on an Australian Aviation incident in which a pilot is missing... so it is full of public controversy etc. Apart from what the pilot said & his father we have a user who in my opinion is trying to "tinfoil hat the pilots repetation", from what I can see he is bucking the wiki convention and from his actions looks as if he wants to dig in and war the issue... But I will let you decided....

I wonder if you could;
1. Have a look for me, just to check the position... 2. What is the next stage if he decides to hold out... who can arbitrate?
I am very sorry to bring you into this but can you help?

- 1. JoelWhy is in an edit war, so I recommend not reverting his edits as it would be against policy; you should discuss the matter on the article's talk page or on his talk page to discuss the issue.
- 2. You can request for arbitration at WP:RFC. If he violates 3RR, you can report him at WP:AN3. Darylgolden(talk) 04:13, 4 November 2013 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Kimberly Harthon
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Kimberly Harthon requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
Colectivo vs. Alterra articles
Hi there Darylgolden,
I created a page for Colectivo Coffee Roasters which was declined yesterday under the grounds that "this is a different name but it is essentially the same company which has not had its name updated yet." This is untrue, as the name Alterra Coffee Roasters is now a different company and brand (with Mars) than Colectivo. The Alterra page should be updated to reflect Mars' ownership and changes, while the Colectivo page represents the independent company. The company websites also reflect these changes, as Alterra and Colectivo are two different brands and companies. Please reconsider and thanks!

Question
Re: Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Salt Spring Island Local Governance.
Hope to catch you while this piece is fresh in your mind.
For notability, is not a form of local governance unique in the world notable? Its uniqueness is the attempt to create a better balance between human and environmental needs - surprising that this 40-year experiment wouldn't interest any number of government jurisdictions, at every level.
Wikipedia has a "local governance" page that outlines various sorts in a long list of countries - not a very useful article, because of its broad, surficial sweep and sole claim to notability being that local governance takes a number of forms around the globe. It seems there should be articles that flesh out how local governance works, be they usual or unusual forms.
For references in the Salt Spring Island Local Governance piece, most of them go to the governance bodies' websites, which are entirely independent of the piece and eminently verifiable. They have none of the bias that secondary sources such as books and articles would have, because they're the "horse's mouth". While I understand well the difference between primary and secondary sources, in this case, primary is the utterly reliable choice.
Question: Given these things, is it hopeless that this piece will ever fit Wikipedia's requirements? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 184.66.108.159 (talk) 17:43, 6 December 2013 (UTC)
- I have to disagree with you on several key issues. For example, the "horse's mouth" is extremely likely to be biased in the horse's favor. If, for example, this local government had a reputation for corruption, or inefficiency, or waste, their own website and other government bodies' would be the last places to find references to that. Besides, primary sources cannot serve as an indication of notability. On the other hand, Wikipedia is independent, but it does not consider itself reliable.
- The article's content is not really supported by the sources either, and I think at times it's simply wrong because you took too much poetic license. For example, "beautiful ecosystems [...] valued by all British Columbians" - really? There's not a single person in British Columbia who doesn't value these ecosystem? So the article would have to be rewritten significantly to remove editorializing, personal opinions, hyperbole and the like.
- So in summary, it may well be possible to write an article about the Islands Trust - but it would have to differ from this one in sources, tone and likely content. Huon (talk) 02:34, 7 December 2013 (UTC)
- * *
Thanks, Daryl. Oh dear. The very existence of this unique form of local governance makes it notable. The beauty and biodiversity of Islands Trust area are the raison d'etre for the Islands Trust Act, which is referenced. This act can't be corrupt. Further, "The Islands Trust Story" book is referenced and supports this choice of words.
Salt Spring Island is part of the Capital Regional District, which has a Wikipedia article. It wouldn't pass the tests to which you've put the Salt Spring Island Local Governance piece. References to CRD operations are CRD webpages. How does Wikipedia know if these can be trusted or are fronts for a corrupt government regime? How can citizens going to those webpages to find their representatives and the services they offer believe that those are, indeed, their representatives, theirs laws and by-laws, meeting agendas, minutes, etc.? At a very basic level in democratic governments, these things must be deemed trustworthy, or citizens would have to go to books, journals, and newspapers to find out how their government operates. Nobody does that. There are no such books and written materials.
Another example you might consider is the Wikipedia article on the Government of the United States, which is referenced to the relevant government bodies. Oh dear ... again.
So very sorry to have come to the wrong place for this article, which has been vetted by nearly a dozen very discerning local citizens of all political leanings (one of whom wrote "The Islands Trust Story"), who deem it correct, unbiased, and completely trustworthy. On to Plan B. The Canadian Encyclopedia has come online in the last month or so. I'll get it posted there.
Wikipedia is looking to increase its Canadian content, and while I understand its policies and golden rule for most of its publishing, when it comes to government articles, I expect it needs to adjust its notability and referencing criteria. It's done so already, in the two examples I've given, but it apparently needs to make these things known to all editors. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 184.66.108.159 (talk) 03:51, 7 December 2013 (UTC)
- Let me address a few points here.
- (1) The response above was not by me, it was by Huon.
- (2) A government of 10,000 people can't really be considered notable. If it was really that unique, it would be cited in some newspapers or magazines or the like.
- (3) You can't seem to be able to remain neutral about the subject. You cannot say that it's "unique" or "wonderful" or anything like that. This is an encyclopedic entry, it must be neutral and detached from the writer's feelings. See WP:Neutral point of view. You sound like a super enthusiastic fan of the government; if you want to write it, it must be neutral - I would not trust a super enthusiastic fan to write an encyclopedic article because they will say something like "omg! it's so awesome!" even if the general public does not like it and there's some criticism. If you cannot even get the article neutral, I doubt the Canadian Encyclopedia will probably not like your article very much either. Thank you. Darylgolden(talk) 07:02, 8 December 2013 (UTC)
Hello & thanks - I can back up "unique", because, of all the land trusts in the world, there are few run by governments and none like this one - my homework, to provide proof. And I didn't say "wonderful" - you're taking licence - I said, "beautiful", a word used in numerous sources to describe a rare, fragile ecosystem. Again, my job to reference them.
Re: "A government of 10,000 people can't really be considered notable. If it was really that unique, it would be cited in some newspapers or magazines or the like."
You're right. As I just wrote to the people I'm working with: "We [meaning British Columbia and the Gulf Islands] have done a lousy job explaining to the world what the Islands Trust is about - an unusual, government form of land trust. My web search turned up little more than Peter's book and a master's thesis on the subject. Wikipedia covers land trusts as non-profit entities, without reference to government efforts to create and steward them, likely because it's so rare. We need to get writing articles for magazines, journals, newspaper, etc., covering general interest and tourist publications about the 40-year Islands Trust experiment."
So, I'm outta here, because I'd rather do the work to shape up my contribution for the Canadian Encylopedia, since they've responded quickly and nicely. You're right that they'll doubtless want me to rework the article, and I'll go the distance for them. Alas, not for Wikipedia, because of the long waits and the tone of interchanges like this to get useful help.

Update regarding AfC backlog drive auto-updating with AFCBuddy
Manual updating of your Backlog Elimination Drive page is no longer necessary. The AFCBuddy bot is now automatically updating AfC reviews that are performed when using the Helper script. The bot-generated pages are located at: Wikipedia:WikiProject Articles for creation/December 2013 - January 2014 Backlog Elimination Drive/[Your user name].
Importantly, please note that any re-reviews you may have performed will need to be manually copied and pasted to the bot-generated pages. Thank you for participating in the drive. Northamerica1000(talk) 19:37, 9 December 2013 (UTC)
Attacking new editors
This was completely uncalled for. Asking for new editors to be blocked on their own talk pages solely because they are justifiably upset at the unnecessarily harsh actions being taken against them is unreasonable. There are people on the other side of the computer screen. They have feelings. Please try to think of others before posting. Reaper Eternal (talk) 00:45, 10 December 2013 (UTC)
- @ Reaper Eternal I am sorry for that, my recent WP:ANI report with some users treating me in a somewhat condenscending and incivil tone has made me especially stressed. I understand that this is in no way an excuse for my actions and they should not have been done, but I'm providing a reason on why I did it. I think I'm taking a semi-wikibreak until the ANI thread is over and my wikistress has been dissipated. I hope you can understand. Thanks. Darylgolden(talk) 01:22, 10 December 2013 (UTC)
- You should not have even done that. It is the admin's decision to decide whether he or she wants to block him or not. Btw, you also just directly posted that on his talk page. Jianhui67 talk★contribs 19:39, 10 December 2013 (UTC)

Question about secondary sources
Hi Darylgolden,
Last month ago you declined my submission for an article Premeir Pizza (2) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Premier_Pizza_%282%29, citing inadequate evidence of notability. One thing you mentioned I could do to remedy this was to cite secondary sources. The information I found on this via the link in the comment box left me unclear on the status of news paper article as primary or secondary sources. I assume since it was declined they are considered primary, which seems counter intuitive to me. As journalists are held to a certain standard of objectivity when compared in this case to a customer, worker or owner.
As news paper articles are my main source of information on this business this obviously causes some issues, and I was hoping you may have some insight to offer.
So as not to abandon my project completely I was wondering if a page on the owner Barry O'Halloran could pass muster with the information I currently have on him.
Thank you in advance for your input. Tyler.tw. Tyler.tw. (talk) 18:10, 6 January 2014 (UTC)

Dragons: Real Myths and Unreal Creatures
Hi,
You have denied my documentary "Dragons: Real Myths and Unreal Creatures" its own page on Wikipedia. I believe this is unfair and that the information given about the movie was valid and objective.
I don't know how to file an official complaint about this, and I apologize for this direct intervention.

I am writing to you and the Wikipedia Help desk.
Please restore and create this page. This band is notable according to the Criteria for musicians and ensembles https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Notability_(music)#Criteria_for_musicians_and_ensembles
According to the Criteria for musicians and ensembles A musician or ensemble (note that this includes a band, singer, rapper, orchestra, DJ, musical theatre group, instrumentalist, etc.) may be notable if it meets at least one of the following criteria:
The Como Brothers Band has met the below notable criteria: 9 ) Has won or placed in a major music competition
Fulfilled - Won Ernie Ball Battle of the Band 2012
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warped_Tour_2012#Ernie_Ball_Battle_of_the_Bands_16_Winners
10) Has performed music for a work of media that is notable, e.g., a theme for a network television show, performance in a television show or notable film, inclusion on a notable compilation album, etc. (But if this is the only claim, it is probably more appropriate to have a mention in the main article and redirect to that article. Read WP:BLP1E and WP:BIO1E for further clarifications).
Fulfilled by having music played worldwide on the below Networks
1)Movie - Wingman Inc. (performer: "Can I Be Matched With You?", "You Are My World", "What They Say")
2)E! Network 2013 Keeping Up with the Kardashians (TV Series) (performer - 1 episode)
Episode - We're Having a Baby! (2013) (performer: "Can I Be Matched With You?"
3)Oxygen Channels 2013 Best Ink (TV Series) (performer - 1 episode)

4) MTV’s 2012-2013 The Real World (TV Series) (performer - 2 episodes)

Miss Multiverse page deleted
Greetings Darygolden, you have a very nice wikipedia page and profile... congrats!!!
I have a frustrating issue here... I have created the page Miss Multiverse, it was deleted once before about a year ago, i don´t understand why if it has all the right references, no use of promotion, just facts, there are even winners of miss universe that have participated in Miss Multiverse whom have profiles on wikipedia... and its still deleted as if this beauty pageant does not exist.
There are many smaller beauty pageants listed on wikipedia, we are just not able to comprehend why this is happening, it almost feels as if enthusiasts or supporters of other pageants are deleting this one, it takes time to learn how to use wikipedia and frustrating to see someone just come and delete it.
I will appreciate your help enormously, if you would kindly take a look and figure out a solution.

Hi Darylgolden,
You declined the article written on the Trade Association AEMT because the references were too close to the association. AEMT is an authority on the industry it operates, making it very hard to find references that aren't from the AEMT, it's also a very niche industry that not many understand and those that do, work in conjunction with the AEMT. Additionally, a lot of my citations are referenced from before the internet was even born, so where else are we going to find references to the association apart from in the AEMT's archives???
I believe the article supports Wikipedia's contribution guidelines, as the content reveals a history to today's Ex Machine Repair standards, enforced by the IEC. If you won't accept the article, I think Wikipedia needs to be more flexible on it's contribution specifications, otherwise much pre-internet history will be missed from wikipedia citations.
What else can I do to get this article published??
Thanks for your understanding, Thomas Marks.

Hi Darylgolden. After reviewing your request for rollback, I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:
- Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
- Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
- Rollback should never be used to edit war.
- If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
- Use common sense.

Disambiguation link notification for October 22
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Tim Neufeld (singer), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Starfield. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Review of Larry Potterfield's Wiki Page
Good afternoon Daryl,
Thank you for your time reviewing the Wikipedia page we have submitted for Larry Potterfield. I sincerely appreciate your feedback and look forward to discussing your recommended changes. I've never written anything encyclopedic, but have been asked to create this page for our Founder and CEO. You mentioned removing some of Larry's life details - the details we have included are significant in that they helped develop Larry into the gentleman he is today. Also, the tables were included as they seemed like the best way to communicate the numerous awards he has won throughout his career. While it may seem like we are trying to be promotional, the awards are very significant especially in our industry. What specifically, without taking away too much content, can I change to get this page approved?
Thanks again for your help - it is very appreciated. (the draft is located here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Larry_Potterfield) -Christopher Cauleycw (talk) 20:54, 29 October 2014 (UTC)

Thank you for being my first visitor outside of my class to view and edit my article about Phyllis M. Ryan! Though this might seem like an insignificant thing to be thanked for, you are the first step toward me becoming integrated in the Wikipedia community. So cheers! - GrandpaFly (talk) 15:40, 7 November 2014 (UTC) |
