This week's article for improvement (week 26, 2020)

William Mariner was an Englishman who lived in Tonga from 29 November 1806 to (probably) 8 November 1810. He later published Tonga Islands, an account of his experiences that is now one of the major sources of information on Tonga before it was significantly influenced by European culture and Christianity. Pictured is Mariner in Tongan attire.

2020 chronology

Hey, regarding your edit to Telemóveis, those entries were removed from the infobox with no consensus and we've been slowly adding them back as we move some of the 2020 articles to WP:GA status. Not including them ruins the chronology and somewhat orphans the 2020 entries. If you want to start a discussion at Wikipedia:WikiProject Eurovision to discuss whether this is good practice or not that might make sense. I might want to just change the wording in the Infobox to be "entry chronology" instead of "appearance" if it ends up being a problem. Until then, it should remain with the 2020 entries, as the removal was contested and is not common practice. This is the first canceled edition, so there isn't a precedent other than the normal practice of having the "next selected entry". Grk1011 (talk) 01:58, 12 July 2020 (UTC)

@Grk1011: I understand, sorry for reverting your edits. I was not aware that the 2020 articles were being moved to GA status. I support the idea of changing the wording on each infobox as a solution for this issue, since there is clearly no precedent for this situation and I agree that leaving these entries without any chronological order doesn't seem like a good idea at all. Hey CycloneYoris, I am a bit concerned with your closure of the above discussion. Most of the redirects listed in that discussion had a majority to delete, with the only keep !vote lodged by an ip who reminds me of a sock that has been trolling the RfD boards lately. Besides that, the ip vote is problematic for a couple of other reasons, mainly because they did not explain why these redirects are useful and that SNOW definitely does not apply. What do you say about backing out of that close, relisting, striking the sock, and leaving it for an admin to close unless an actual consensus to keep develops? -- Tavix (talk) 22:11, 19 July 2020 (UTC)

@Tavix: You're right, I should've relisted that discussion instead of making such an abrupt closure; I thought that since the discussion was already relisted once that a closure was the more appropriate thing to do (since multiple relists are often problematic), and I also was completely unaware that the IP was a sock. I'll immediately revert my closure and relist the discussion accordingly. CycloneYoris talk! 22:38, 19 July 2020 (UTC)
Thanks, I appreciate giving it a fresh look! -- Tavix (talk) 23:10, 19 July 2020 (UTC)

2018 Pacific hurricane season

Hey, just wanted to let you know that I should have the 2018 Pacific hurricane season article ready to nominate for good article tomorrow! NoahTalk 22:55, 27 July 2020 (UTC)

@Hurricane Noah: Great job! :) Your work on that article has honestly been outstanding! Please contact me if you need help on any future GAN preps (e.g. the 2016 and 2017 EPAC seasons which do seem to need a lot of work) I'd be happy to help you out. CycloneYoris talk! 00:09, 28 July 2020 (UTC)
Other than shortening Hector to 3 paragraphs, the storms are now done. I will then rewrite the season summary and do the lead. That's all that remains for this article. NoahTalk 00:47, 28 July 2020 (UTC)
@Hurricane Noah: Truly impressive! Congratulations! CycloneYoris talk! 01:36, 28 July 2020 (UTC)
I know it has been some time since the last reply here, but I wanted to let you know what the plan is for 2020. The 2018 EPAC topic is listed below:
Hopefully, I will be able to get Hector and Walaka to FA by December. Cooper is currently working on the timeline as well. The current nominees are listed in that box with cut/split icons. The plan is to get the remaining articles to FA in 2021 so there is a 100% featured topic. NoahTalk 18:38, 1 September 2020 (UTC)
