Orphaned non-free media (Image:Stickies widget.png)

Thanks for uploading Image:Stickies widget.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:10, 30 September 2008 (UTC)

You've uploaded File:ITunes-mpeg4p.png, and indicated that it's used under Wikipedia's rules for non-free images. However, it's not presently used in any articles. Wikipedia policy requires that non-free images be either used or deleted, so if this image isn't used in an article in the next week, it will be deleted.

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Category:High-importance webcomic articles, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Category:High-importance webcomic articles has been empty for at least four days, and its only content has been links to parent categories. (CSD C1).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Category:High-importance webcomic articles, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. To see the user who deleted the page, click here CSDWarnBot (talk) 11:50, 24 January 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading File:Google Video Player window.png. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Fair use rationale for File:Avengers Initiavive number 1.jpeg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Avengers Initiavive number 1.jpeg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Chillum 05:12, 8 February 2009 (UTC)

Gawd, I'm right in the middle of adding it. There is no damn option for adding icons correctly at upload! Dread Lord CyberSkull ✎☠ 09:58, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
Hi, Its not a big deal, once you correct the problem you are free to remove the template I added, when I tagged it, it didn't had free use rationale, and once you added that, you removed the template, the file will not be deleted immediately for such a cause, so its better to tag it, to keep images on wikipedia withought violating copyrights, by the way if you wanna upload the picture without having any problems, you can first create the page for the image, then upload the image, or try uploading your images to wiki.commons it has more options regarding editing the file before uploading it :-) happy editing MaenK.A.Talk 12:47, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
I'm aware of the options on the commons, but the image in question couldn't go there. Dread Lord CyberSkull ✎☠ 23:31, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

Brainiac move.

There was no good reason to move the article. 'DC comics' would only be needed if there was more than one 'brainiac' character in comics. Given that DC holds the copyright, trademark, and more on that name, there isn't a competing character, thus no need for the extra differentiation. As such, I've reverted your move. Please be careful in teh future to check up on such things more carefully. Unless ther's more than one character in comics with that name, there's not need to differentiate in the title beyond "(comics)". For more on the complexiities that can occur in some cases, see Captain Marvel. ThuranX (talk) 05:24, 17 June 2009 (UTC)

Please update your status with WP:VG

Dear WikiProject Video games member,

You are receiving this message because you have either Category:WikiProject Video games members or {{User WPVG}} somewhere in your userspace and you have edited Wikipedia in the recent months.

The Video games project has created a member list to provide a clearer picture of its active membership.

All members have currently been placed in the "Inactive" section by default. Please remove your username from the "Inactive" listing and place it under the "Active" listing if you plan on regularly:

Ideally, members are encouraged to do both, but either one meets our criteria of inclusion. Members still listed inactive at the beginning of November 2009 may be removed. You may re-add yourself to the active list at any time. Thank you for your help, and we look forward to working with you.

We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Suburban Jungle (2nd nomination). Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:14, 31 October 2009 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for File:NetNewsWire.png

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:NetNewsWire.png.

Thank you. FASTILYsock (TALK) 23:19, 6 November 2009 (UTC)

Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire

So you're saying that if I dump something on Keenspot, it'll automatically be notable for a Wikipedia article, even if no reliable source ever writes about my work? WP:WEB is not binding, you know. It's entirely possible that something could meet one criterion of WP:WEB but not WP:GNG. "May" doesn't mean the same thing as "will." Well, no. They are a publisher and as such, they enter into a contract with an artist. Should you meet their criteria, they may even publish your work in print form. That meets the requirements of having an independent publisher and in another medium. Dread Lord CyberSkull ✎☠ 23:25, 6 December 2009 (UTC)
As pointed out in the AfD, you may have confused Keenspot with Keenspace, now known as ComicGenesis, their free comic hosting site. Keenspot is the biggest and oldest exclusive comic host and many popular webcomics has gotten their big break there. Dread Lord CyberSkull ✎☠ 23:33, 6 December 2009 (UTC)

Unreferenced BLPs

Hello CyberSkull! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to insure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. if you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 11 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

A tag has been placed on Brinkerhoff, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

It may meet Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion under CSD csd

You may wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles. See the Article Wizard.

Thank you.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. --Novil Ariandis (talk) 14:49, 13 January 2010 (UTC)

The article The Chemistry Set‎ has been proposed for deletion. The proposed-deletion notice added to the article should explain why.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

Thanks for uploading File:DivX container.png. You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Fair use rationale for File:Berserk PS2 JP.jpeg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Berserk PS2 JP.jpeg.

Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 17:30, 14 May 2010 (UTC)

I noticed that you have revised either Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri or Sid Meier's Alien Crossfire.

I intend to revise those articles following the Wikipedia:WikiProject Video games/Article guidelines. There are more details on the discussion pages of those articles. I'd be interested in any comments you have. It would be best if your comments were on the discussion pages of the two articles.

Thank you.

Geneforge 2 infobox image

Hi there, I was wondering if you'd object to me replacing the image currently uploaded (a combination of the logo and a cropped shot of the splash screen) with just the logo? I'd like to do the same across each of the Geneforge articles to get some uniformity in place, and I'm hoping to start work on the Geneforge 2 article afterwards. Thanks. Someoneanother 13:39, 2 July 2010 (UTC)

Have I done something to offend you? While I realize now that it was Salavat who had uploaded this particular image ^ you've given no response except to tag some images and upload an icon to Geneforge 5: Overthrow which prevents me from doing what I'd liked to have done. Someoneanother 23:55, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
No, I just went through and checked the images since you brought it to my attention. I would have used the logo on the website, but it's a gif with a shadow. We generally try to avoid using JPEG for things like logos as well. Dread Lord CyberSkull ✎☠ 01:20, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
I see, sorry. I tried not to read anything into it but was a bit taken aback. Would you mind adding the appropriate icon to Geneforge 4: Rebellion too? I think that one's logo is shadowed too. Someoneanother 03:08, 9 July 2010 (UTC)

Article on history of character animation style

Dear CyberSkull, Do you know if there are plans to create character animation style history article in Wikipedia? I mean, there were obvious changes during the decades. For example, in 1980s, anime characters tended to bulb/large-headed, overly roundy. Then in 1990s characters had ridiculously long noses in side view (like in the Vision of Escaflowne), as well as obviously triangle heads with long sharp chins, and many had incredibly huge eyes. Then since 2000s these insane trends somehow disappeared in most of anime titles have more adequate character designs. The point is that I always wondered who exactly (which mangaka, which character designer of anime) caused each of these changes -- while hard, it should not be impossible to establish the first "trend movers". Maybe there are some researches about this and these can be gathered up into an Wikipedia article? 176.14.102.205 (talk) 14:12, 16 July 2011 (UTC)

This will be difficult to write up if there is no already existing article(s) on the subject. Wikipedia has some rules about original research being published here first. Make sure you have plenty of references first before you start the article. :) Dread Lord CyberSkull ✎☠ 01:14, 17 July 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for reply; I know that there can not be original research in Wikipedia, I was hoping that maybe you or any anime connoisseurs would know if there is non-Wikipedia research which could be compiled into Wikipedia article. It seems like there is no such thing, unfortunately. 176.14.102.205 (talk) 20:38, 17 July 2011 (UTC)
Offhand I don't really know of any stylistic influences other than Walt Disney on Osamu Tezuka. Dread Lord CyberSkull ✎☠ 23:05, 17 July 2011 (UTC)
