Articles you might like to edit, from SuggestBot
We are currently running a study to evaluate the effectiveness of alternative algorithms for providing personalized task recommendations through SuggestBot. Participation in the study is voluntary. Should you wish to not participate in the study, or have questions or concerns, you can find contact information in the consent information sheet. The study is scheduled to end on Monday, January 9, 2023. Please note this is a bit later than the initial estimate specified in the consent information sheet.
Note: All columns in this table are sortable, allowing you to rearrange the table so the articles most interesting to you are shown at the top. All images have mouse-over popups with more information. For more information about the columns and categories, please consult the documentation and please get in touch on SuggestBot's talk page with any questions you might have.
SuggestBot picks articles in a number of ways based on other articles you've edited, including straight text similarity, following wikilinks, and matching your editing patterns against those of other Wikipedians. It tries to recommend only articles that other Wikipedians have marked as needing work. We appreciate that you have signed up to receive suggestions regularly; your contributions make Wikipedia better — thanks for helping!
If you have feedback on how to make SuggestBot better, please let us know on SuggestBot's talk page. -- SuggestBot (talk) 23:29, 8 January 2023 (UTC)
One last question
いま、あなたのにほんごはどうですか?べんきょうしますか?(written in ひらがな because you mentioned you don't understand 漢字) Zaxalightning2 (talk) 18:48, 9 January 2023 (UTC)
- @Zaxalightning2: I'm sorry, while I may understand Katakana, as the userbox says it's a very basic understanding (Heck I'm still learning some Katakana symbols) and am not able to quite understand what some words mean. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 18:53, 9 January 2023 (UTC)
- Fair enough. What I said was "Ima, anata no nihongo ha (pronounced "wa") doudesuka? Benkyoushimasuka?" Now, how is your Japanese? Are you learning? It's fine, people learn languages at different paces :3 Zaxalightning2 (talk) 18:57, 9 January 2023 (UTC)
- @Zaxalightning2: To be honest, I haven't actually studied the Katakana in a few weeks due to me being on vacation and not having access to the website I use. I do intend to continue my studies soon however. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 19:04, 9 January 2023 (UTC)
- Well, best of luck to you in your Japanese journey- がんばって!Feel free to ask me if you need help! Zaxalightning2 (talk) 19:07, 9 January 2023 (UTC)

Latest tech news from the Wikimedia technical community. Please tell other users about these changes. Not all changes will affect you. Translations are available.
Recent changes
- You can use tags to filter edits in the recent changes feed or on your watchlist. You can now use tags to filter out edits you don't want to see. Previously you could only use tags to focus on the edits with those tags. [1]
- Special:WhatLinksHere shows all pages that link to a specific page. There is now a prototype for how to sort those pages alphabetically. You can see the discussion in the Phabricator ticket.
- You can now use the thanks function on your watchlist and the user contribution page. [2]
- A wiki page can be moved to give it a new name. You can now get a dropdown menu with common reasons when you move a page. This is so you don't have to write the explanation every time. [3]
- Matrix is a chat tool. You can now use
matrix:
to create Matrix links on wiki pages. [4] - You can filter out translations when you look at the recent changes on multilingual wikis. This didn't hide translation pages. You can now also hide subpages which are translation pages. [5]
Changes later this week
- Realtime preview for wikitext is a tool which lets editors preview the page when they edit wikitext. It will be enabled for all users of the 2010 wikitext editor. You will find it in the editor toolbar.
- Some wikis will be in read-only for a few minutes because of a switch of their main database. It will be performed on 10 January at 07:00 UTC (targeted wikis) and on 12 January at 07:00 UTC (targeted wikis).
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 10 January. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 11 January. It will be on all wikis from 12 January (calendar).

W2S
I wonder if it might be better to publish it into mainspace then let it stand or fall at AfD? If it stands, problem solved; if it falls, we can salt all the titles and protect the redirects. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 16:02, 10 January 2023 (UTC)
- I would honestly disagree. While there may be a decent amount of sources, that article still needs a lot of work before publishing into mainspace. For one, the entire "early life" section is unsourced which is in violation of WP:BLP and there are several other unsource statements in the article (excluding the mentions of how many subscribers they got since that's just trivia). ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 16:05, 10 January 2023 (UTC)
- Also, the redirect is currently already full protected, so I would want to see an article of much higher quality in order to replace a redirect that is fully protected. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 16:07, 10 January 2023 (UTC)
- Well, your alternatives are he keeps resubmitting it ad infinitum, resetting the G13 clock every time, or MfD. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 16:25, 10 January 2023 (UTC)
- Well frankly he shouldn't be resubmitting it regardless since it's rejected. I'm not sure what the rules regarding MfD are since I'm very unfamiliar with that area. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 16:27, 10 January 2023 (UTC)
- It's already been discussed at AFD at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/W2S and Wikipedia:Redirects_for_discussion/Log/2020_February_18#Wroetoshaw_(YouTuber). If it's tendentiously resubmitted after a reject, you can take it to MFD and have the draft pages salted (page protected). I'd rather have any future discussions at the Sideman talk page as a split proposal (along with Miniminter's page) and not be continually drafted/resubmitted here. AngusW🐶🐶F (bark • sniff) 16:59, 10 January 2023 (UTC)
- @AngusWOOF@Blaze Wolf@HJ Mitchell either the W2S or the Greg O’Gallagher drafts might be useful as a sock catcher as I doubt we've seen the last of ManySocks. I didn't E/C protect the W2S draft for that reason, but feel free to adjust if you think needed. No comment on the broader redirect in mainspace as I don't follow these subjects and don't have time to research. Star Mississippi 19:15, 10 January 2023 (UTC)

"Your submission at Articles for creation: Clifton Conference has been accepted"
Hey, allow me a few comments--I don't wish to place them on the user's talk page. There was some discussion about bare URLs and other matters. User:HandThatFeeds said, "sigh Blaze is saying that you need to actually cite the book then, not just link to the Commons copy of the book", and they really are correct: the response "This is incorrect. Bare URLs are acceptable" is not really to the point. As an AfC reviewer, as far as I am concerned, you have every right to ask for PROPER citations, and bare URLs are simply not proper citations--there's a good reason we have this, Wikipedia:Bare URLs. So they're not wrong to include them, but they are not being helpful, and given their history of disruption and very sloppy editing, they need to be much more helpful. If a reviewer wants to reject something because it looks terrible, they have every right to do it. Another reviewer might judge that differently, but that's how it is.
This version wasn't even so terrible, but in this version, note 6, yeah that's just not good at all, IMO. And that's one of the problems with this editor: very sloppy work on very notable topics. Just look at the number of edits in here that clean up the draft/article: one should not submit work that needs this much cleaning up. Thanks for your work, Drmies (talk) 16:31, 11 January 2023 (UTC)
- Hey! Thanks for the response. I actually would've removed that ref before I accepted it but I only noticed it after i Had hit the accept button. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 16:48, 11 January 2023 (UTC)
- Also if you were wondering why I left it uncategorized, I simply didn't know what categories would be relevant. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 16:50, 11 January 2023 (UTC)
- No no, not at all--I'm not good with categories and I don't typically add them myself. I leave that to the experts. ;) Drmies (talk) 20:04, 11 January 2023 (UTC)
- Same. Really the only articles I would be able to add some categories to would be video game articles. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 20:05, 11 January 2023 (UTC)

Question
So all I really need to do in terms of getting in with the community is just editing articles, expanding stubs, translating stuff, and contributing to the encyclopedia in general? If I do that enough, will people think I'm cool?
half joking Zaxalightning2 (talk) 18:30, 9 January 2023 (UTC)
- @Zaxalightning2: Hello again Zaxa. That's essentially what people here do. Of course, that's simplifying it a little bit but generally yes. If you would like any help in figuring things out feel free to ask me here on my talk page or ask the people over at the Teahouse, a place dedicated to answering questions from newcomers. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 18:35, 9 January 2023 (UTC)

Alex Edit
Hiya. I’m actually Alex Clark’s sister. I don’t have his birth certificate handy otherwise I would source it. I understand why you questioned my edit but listing Springfield as his birthplace is incorrect and so it can’t possibly have a legitimate source cited. He did grow up there but he wasn’t born there. I was tho! Haha. Anyway, I’m new to wiki editing so I’m still figuring out how it all works but, If his birthplace is not listed as Alexandria, then it should be left blank. Also, I’m trying to figure out how to add an ‘early life’ section so I can add that he grew up in Western MA and attended PVPA (which I do have sources for.) I added him to PVPA’s notable alumni section and I want to make sure It’s cited before someone removes it. Maybe you can help? Aclark34 (talk) 15:55, 12 January 2023 (UTC)
- @Aclark34: Hello Aclark! Well first I suggest you read this page as you have a major conflict of interest if you truly are his sister. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 15:56, 12 January 2023 (UTC)
Hrmmm well, that’s poopy. I thought you just couldn’t write about yourself. Makes sense tho. Duly noted. I won’t make any more edits. I really just wanted to add him to the PVPA page. He deserves to be on there. So, seeing as it’s frowned upon for me to contribute, maybe you could do me a solid and cite him as a notable alumni? It would be appreciated. He mentions attending Pvpa in several videos and on Twitter if you need a source. Also, he really wasn’t born in Springfield so, you should probably remove the birthplace altogether? 🤷♀️🤷♀️ Aclark34 (talk) 16:16, 12 January 2023 (UTC)
- @Aclark34: I've just removed the birthplace since it was completely unsupported in the article which is a violation of our policy on biographies (really they're just articles) on living people. As for the sources you mentioned, they wouldn't be very good to use as they are primary sources that come from him. Looking at the article there may be a chance he simply isn't notable, but I won't know that for sure until I try and find more sources for him. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 16:47, 12 January 2023 (UTC)
Wax melts
Hi Blaze, thought I would move the conversation here so we don't take up Tagishsimon's talk page. Have you ever used the WP:Library? You should have access. S0091 (talk) 16:49, 12 January 2023 (UTC)
- @S0091: No I haven't since I really haven't ever needed to do so since usually the sources I need are available online for the articles I typically write. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 16:50, 12 January 2023 (UTC)
- Try it. Often the best sources are not online (or behind paywalls). I generally start with Proquest, depending on what get there I try Gale next (GeneralOneFile and News). I got a bunch of hits for "wax melts" with Proquest. Sometimes if they are recent articles (within the five years), I Google search the article title because citing an online source is much easier and more accessible to others. Otherwise, you have to do it manually (ugh!). S0091 (talk) 17:16, 12 January 2023 (UTC)

Construction Site Safety Link
Hi! I do believe the removal of my link was a mistake. The link is to a research center that is based out of Lawrence Technological University in Michigan. They recently did a study on PPE and have begun training on Temporary Traffic Control safety. All of these things are relevant to the article and the link is appropriate. Ehardy11 (talk) 00:43, 14 January 2023 (UTC)
- @Ehardy11: Hello Ehardy! As I said in my edit summary I would talk about the link addition to the talk page. While it isn't pure spam I'm not sure if it's appropriate for the external links section in the article. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 00:45, 14 January 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you! I am very very new to Wikipedia (like, created my account 45 minutes ago), so I assumed this was the talk page you were referring to. Sorry for the confusion! In all honesty, my boss (the director of the research center I was linking) has asked me to create the reference within the article, so putting it under "see more" felt the most appropriate. I have also drafted a paragraph that describes the center and what it does, so if you have any suggestions on another section of the article where I can add the reference with a description that you feel is more fitting, let me know! :) Ehardy11 (talk) 01:06, 14 January 2023 (UTC)

Shaggy Rogers Clarification on Edits
Genuinely confused about what edit of mine was undone on the page for Shaggy Rogers or what I'd said that was considered non neutral in the first place? Telstar500 (talk) 15:50, 15 January 2023 (UTC)
- The "Supernatural episode". ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 18:16, 15 January 2023 (UTC)
- Considering this isn't my opinion and is just an objective fact that the crossover happened in an episode of the show Supernatural and not an episode of Scooby Doo (iirc there wasn't a scooby doo show producing new episodes at the time?) it's a valid change. Telstar500 (talk) 01:17, 16 January 2023 (UTC)
- Ohhhh ok. That was my bad. If you had put the name 'Supernatural" in italics I would've left it since I interpreted that as your desciribing what you thought of the episode and not the show it was a crosssover with. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 14:12, 16 January 2023 (UTC)

Problems
- The URLs in "prev" links on page history now contain
diff=prev&oldid=[revision ID]
in place ofdiff=[revision ID]&oldid=[revision ID]
. This is to fix a problem with links pointing to incorrect diffs when history was filtered by a tag. Some user scripts may break as a result of this change. [6]
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 17 January. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 18 January. It will be on all wikis from 19 January (calendar).
- Some changes to the appearance of talk pages have only been available on
Talk:
andUser talk:
namespaces. These will be extended to other talk namespaces, such asWikipedia talk:
. They will continue to be unavailable in non-talk namespaces, includingWikipedia:
pages (e.g., at the Village Pump). You can change your preferences (beta feature). [7] - On Wikisources, when an image is zoomed or panned in the Page: namespace, the same zoom and pan settings will be remembered for all Page: namespace pages that are linked to a particular Index: namespace page. [8]
- The Vector 2022 skin will become the default for the English Wikipedia desktop users. The change will take place on January 18 at 15:00 UTC. Learn more.
Future changes
- The 2023 edition of the Community Wishlist Survey, which invites contributors to make technical proposals and vote for tools and improvements, starts next week on 23 January 2023 at 18:00 UTC. You can start drafting your proposals in the CWS sandbox.

Problem?
Why do you keep erasing a piece of factual information?? Also, how are you an expert in EVERYTHING Wikipedia? Don't you have a job or do you just play video games all day? Ben and Annabelle's mom (talk) 14:59, 17 January 2023 (UTC)

Reminder
Hello, Blaze Wolf,
Just a reminder that User talk pages are not deleted unless there is seriously problematic content on them, like content that violates copyright guidelines, or content that violates our BLP policy. Having random comments on a User talk page doesn't warrant a page deletion. Often times, content can simply be removed from a page and deletion is not called for.
Deletion should be the last resort and is really reserved for content that is unacceptable or that is justifed through one of our deletion processes, like it fits a CSD criteria or is deleted through Proposed deletion or a deletion decision in an AFD. Don't be overly enthusiastic for tagging pages for deletion especially for brand new editors who are not aware of Wikipedia policies and practices and don't understand what a User page is for. Tagging a User page for deletion when the editor has been editing for just a few minutes is a great way of telling them "Go away, we don't want you here!" Try to spend more time welcoming new editors and explaining our policies to them rather than deleting their efforts which might be just misguided and not vandalism. As the old expression says, don't attribute to malice what might actually just come from ignorance. We want and need new editors and you might be the very first experienced editor that a brand new editor encounters. As long as they are editing in good faith, try to make that experience a positive one. Thank you for all that you do here! Liz Read! Talk! 20:31, 17 January 2023 (UTC)
- Fair enough. I don't usually see editors creating a new user talk page with complete nonsense as constructive but I won't argue. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 20:35, 17 January 2023 (UTC)

Template for you :)
Hi Blaze Wolf! I made a userbox for you, feel free to make any changes to it if you want.
Here it is: Template:User likes Blaze Wolf MasterMatt12💬 ● Contributions 19:30, 18 January 2023 (UTC)

- Hello Blaze Wolf! I appreciate all the edits you made, and I was thinking about using this interesting userbox on my user page. Can I do so? Thank you in advance! SunilNevlaFan✨ 15:01, 20 January 2023 (UTC)
- Of course! You don't have to ask me to use the userbox. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 15:02, 20 January 2023 (UTC)
- Yeah, you can use any userbox in all of Wikipedia, no need to ask for permission, I mean, they made a userbox for a reason . MasterMatt12💬 ● Contributions 15:26, 20 January 2023 (UTC)
Verizon Fios discussion
Hi Blaze Wolf, I wanted to check in and see if you had any other questions about my proposed update to the Verizon Fios article. I will be around to answer questions over on the article's talk page. Thanks for the interest. VZEric (talk) 18:18, 20 January 2023 (UTC)
- @VZEric: Hello Eric! My apologies, I've been a bit all over the place recently and have lacked focus on any one thing. I"ll try and get back to you as soon as i can! ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 18:22, 20 January 2023 (UTC)
Edit on Prince Mateen of Brunei
Hello, I'm Tomgranger09. Regarding my edit on the page Prince Mateen of Brunei, I think it was correct as it eliminated the first sentence, "Sports Career", which didn't make sense. My explanation was just lacking so sry ;) Tomgranger09 (talk) 20:46, 20 January 2023 (UTC)
- @Tomgranger09: Hi TOm! You are correct that the random "sports career" doesn't belong there, however I"m perplexed as to where it's coming from. It's being generated by the infobox, but there's nothing in the infobox that should be creating that. I'll ask at WP:VPT and see if they know. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 20:49, 20 January 2023 (UTC)
- Thx. :) Tomgranger09 (talk) 20:52, 20 January 2023 (UTC)

Ultraviolet open to public beta?
I noticed that on WP:RFP/R, you posted on your alt requesting for rollback to test UV. Just curious but is it open to public beta? Or is it simply not recommended to test out unless you know what you're doing? I ask this cause I've been waiting for it to come out for quite some time and have been waiting to test it out. Satricious (talk) 18:20, 27 January 2023 (UTC)
- @Satricious: It's been in public beta for a while now. I would recommend not using it thought if you already have RedWarn since UV is currently not backwards compatible with RW. Hence why I'm using it on my alt and not my main account. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 18:22, 27 January 2023 (UTC)
- @Blaze Wolf: Ah, so I see. Well I suppose I could disable RW temporarily to try it out if I were desperate. Thanks for the quick reply :p Satricious (talk) 18:27, 27 January 2023 (UTC)
- @Satricious: I'm fairly sure once you install UV there's no going back since it overrides your RW configs... or at least I think. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 18:28, 27 January 2023 (UTC)
- Hmm, got it. Thanks for the heads-up. Satricious (talk) 18:34, 27 January 2023 (UTC)
- @Satricious, @Blaze Wolf: The configuration is just another page on-wiki. You're perfectly free to view its history and restore a past revision which works with RedWarn should you switch back. Chlod (say hi!) 01:48, 28 January 2023 (UTC)

Sands Missing delete revert.
I agree it should be mentioned (and is comprehensively dealt with further down), but referring to in the lead smacks of sensationalism. Nothing has yet been established. Just today, one of his fellow hikers stated that Sands is a highly experienced mountaineer who could well have dug in and is waiting out the weather. Either way, this shouldn't be in there. It's Wiki - not The National Enquirer. 86.160.1.165 (talk) 16:53, 30 January 2023 (UTC)
- I disagree. IT's mentioned in the lead because of the infobox. That information is supported by multiple reliable sources. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 17:00, 30 January 2023 (UTC)

Twinkle and global locks
Forgive me if I have you confused with someone else, but I believe somewhere you said something about being able to use Twinkle to request global locks at Meta, something about Twinkle's global preferences. Do you know anything about that? Thanks.--Bbb23 (talk) 18:51, 30 January 2023 (UTC)
- You are correct. IT's called Global Twinkle. I don't remember where you can find it however. I installed it and then have forgotten about where I found it. I'll do some digging to see if I can find it again. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 19:07, 30 January 2023 (UTC)

- Aha! I managed to find it. See meta:TwinkleGlobal. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 19:27, 30 January 2023 (UTC)
- Ummm, I am not sure of my technical ground here. I assume I have to install the script on Meta? Can I still use it at en.wiki, though? Will it interfere with my "local" Twinkle?--Bbb23 (talk) 19:33, 30 January 2023 (UTC)
- Yes. You install the script in your Global .js, and it won't actually interfere with the local version of Twinkle at all. In fact, it makes it much more useful by adding the feature of reporting users to meta:SRG without removing any of the other features. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 19:53, 30 January 2023 (UTC)

Problems
- Last week, for ~15 minutes, some users were unable to log in or edit pages. This was caused by a problem with session storage. [12]
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 31 January. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 1 February. It will be on all wikis from 2 February (calendar).
Future changes
- Wikis that use localized numbering schemes for references need to add new CSS. This will help to show citation numbers the same way in all reading and editing modes. If your wiki would prefer to do it yourselves, please see the details and example CSS to copy from, and also add your wiki to the list. Otherwise, the developers will directly help out starting the week of February 5.

Growth team newsletter #24
Welcome to the twenty-fourth newsletter from the Growth team!
Newcomer experience projects
The Growth team partnered with other WMF teams to conduct several experiments around increasing account creation and new editor retention. Results from four of these experiments are now available:
- Thank you pages & banners - Encourage donors to create accounts through thank you pages and banners.
- Marketing experiment - Run ads on-wiki and off-wiki to see how this impacts account activation.
- "Add an image" GLAM events - Host GLAM events that focus on using the "Add an image" tool.
- Welcome emails - Experiment sending welcome emails to newly created accounts.
Newcomer tasks
- Several communities suggested improving "add a link", by suggesting underlinked articles first. We released this change to Growth pilot wikis. We will review the data and collect feedback before considering releasing it to more wikis. [13]
- The deployment of the "add a link" to all Wikipedias is still in progress. Suggested links use a prediction model, which has to be trained. The deployments will resume after we finish training all models. [14]
Mentorship
- When someone wants to signup as a mentor, they are now informed if they don't meet the defined criteria. [15]
- Workshop hosts asked us to have workshop attendees assigned to them. They can soon use a custom URL parameter. This way, workshop hosts will continue mentoring the event's attendees after the workshop. It will be available in February. [16]
- Have you considered to help new editors on your wiki, by signing up to be a Mentor?
- Please visit Special:MentorDashboard to check on the conditions to be a mentor, and sign up.
- If your wiki does not have Mentorship enabled, consider setting it up. The Growth team can provide advice and assist as needed. Please ping Trizek (WMF) for assistance.
Other news
- In Special:SpecialPages, Growth experiments now have their own section. [17]
- This newsletter will have a new publication period, 6 times a year: January, March, May, July, September, November.
Translations
- Newsletter translation: We are looking for translators for this newsletter. If you are interested and have the needed English language proficiency to assist, then please add your name to this list. You will receive an invite on your talk page to translate the newsletter when it is ready.
- Interface translation: You can also help by translating the interface, or reviewing translations to make them more inclusive. Interface translations are hosted at translatewiki.net.

Recent changes
- In the Vector 2022 skin, logged-out users using the full-width toggle will be able to see the setting of their choice even after refreshing pages or opening new ones. This only applies to wikis where Vector 2022 is the default. [18]
Changes later this week
- The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 7 February. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 8 February. It will be on all wikis from 9 February (calendar).
- Previously, we announced when some wikis would be in read-only for a few minutes because of a switch of their main database. These switches will not be announced any more, as the read-only time has become non-significant. Switches will continue to happen at 7AM UTC on Tuesdays and Thursdays. [19]
- Across all the wikis, in the Vector 2022 skin, logged-in users will see the page-related links such as "What links here" in a new side menu. It will be displayed on the other side of the screen. This change had previously been made on Czech, English, and Vietnamese Wikipedias. [20]
- Community Wishlist Survey 2023 will stop receiving new proposals on Monday, 6 February 2023, at 18:00 UTC. Proposers should complete any edits by then, to give time for translations and review. Voting will begin on Friday, 10 February.
Future changes
- Gadgets and user scripts will be changing to load on desktop and mobile sites. Previously they would only load on the desktop site. It is recommended that wiki administrators audit the gadget definitions prior to this change, and add
skins=…
for any gadgets which should not load on mobile. More details are available.

Question from Larrayo.o (16:28, 7 February 2023)
This is going to be a super dumb question, but are you a real person or a AI? --Larrayo.o (talk) 16:28, 7 February 2023 (UTC)
- @Larrayo.o: I am indeed a real person, or at least I was last time I checked.[Joke] Seriously though, I am a real person, I may seem like an AI/bot because I make use of semi-automated tools which makes some of my work here on Wikipedia easier. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 16:30, 7 February 2023 (UTC)
- Ohh that is good to know never really thought that you can talk to real people on Wikipedia lol. Is there a discord server or something like that which is used for more or better communication? Larrayo.o (talk) 16:36, 7 February 2023 (UTC)
- @Larrayo.o: Yes, Wikipedia has a community run discord server (see WP:DISCORD), however keep in mind it's different than most other Discord servers in that it's meant to aid in communication between Wikipedians rather than be a place to chat (though there is an offtopic channel, but if you're just using that then you probably should find a different server). ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 16:42, 7 February 2023 (UTC)

Per WP:VG/DATE: "While the game is in an early release state, that early release date may be included in the infobox, but it should be indicated as an early release, and in the article prose, the game should be treated as an upcoming video game that has yet to receive a full release for all other purposes."
Why categories should be treated different than article body? Mika1h (talk) 15:10, 8 February 2023 (UTC)
- @Mika1h: Hey Mika1h! I'm not exactly sure. The categorization of early access games seems to be inconsistent. Maybe we should bring this up on WT:VG? I don't have any objections to the adding of the category. I'm just not sure if it's correct. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 15:44, 8 February 2023 (UTC)

Dodge Challenger edit,
Can the wording be changed to avoid misleading? The official statement means the current Challenger and Chargers are going to be discontinued, not the nameplate. The replacement(s) are in the works. But due to the trade secret, they can not be revealed. OrangeLark64 (talk) 04:21, 13 February 2023 (UTC)

Refactoring
Hey, I don't necessarily disagree with your edit summary, but don't you think this is going a bit too far? I'll go ahead and add a couple additional citations to the lead in hopes of preventing these types of misguided comments. Throast {{ping}} me! (talk | contribs) 10:57, 14 February 2023 (UTC)
- Not really. In my opinion adding a comment to a post that is 2 months old is just disruptive as if there were no further comments in that period of time the conversation is determined to be finished. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 13:57, 14 February 2023 (UTC)
- I don't think passage of time is relevant. In my estimation, the IP had genuine (if misguided) BLP concerns. The discussion hasn't been formally closed and if people have anything to add, I think they should be able to do so regardless of whether we disagree. Better to engage them and win people over than to censor them, imo. Throast {{ping}} me! (talk | contribs) 15:02, 14 February 2023 (UTC)
- I see your point. I still think passage of time is relevant as if a conversation stopped a while back then those people have likely moved on and forgotten about it and in my opinion, not making a new thread about it and trying to remake your point is just disruptive as the users who were in the conversation probably thought they were done with the conversation. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 15:15, 14 February 2023 (UTC)

I don’t appreciate that you’re deleting my articles without telling me what to fix. It’s very annoying and you need to stop. You’re putting a bad name on Wikipedia. Brave4EverQ (talk) 20:03, 20 February 2023 (UTC)
- @Brave4EverQ: The problem was that I initially thought the article was a copyright violation of this Fandom article, however after I actually looked at what license a page needed to be released under I found that the license of the article you copied from is compatible with Wikipedia. After you replaced all of it with something different I added the copyvio template so the previous revisions could be hidden (The article would remain). I attempted to remove it after realizing my mistake but you beat me to it. My apologies for all the trouble I caused you. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 20:09, 20 February 2023 (UTC)
ANI notice for a disruptive IP
There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. The thread is Vast history of disruptive edit warring and personal attacks from a user at 42.190.128.0/18 (+ more IP ranges). Thank you.
For your specific case, refer to User talk:Blaze Wolf/Archive 6#42.190.135.177

The discussion was already closed by the time I saved. Adding my last reaction here:
- Thank you! On my end, I'm very much aware that in the draft space editors need to be stricter to get the best out of the many "creations" that appear there. It is difficult to change gears even when we know how everything works. Thank you so much for all your contributions to Wikipedia in the domain of new articles!!! gidonb (talk) 15:40, 18 February 2023 (UTC)

Thanks for pushing back when you think something may not be ok. WP:PROF is its own special guideline and is certainly an exception to the usual "rules". I generally stay away drafts about academics unless it is an obvious accept/decline because it does take someone with some knowledge with academia as each discipline can vary on what meets notability. S0091 (talk) 21:10, 16 February 2023 (UTC) |
- No problem! I probably would've left it for someone else, however I noticed that there was a still a lot of stuff that was unsourced in that draft. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 21:13, 16 February 2023 (UTC)

Afc Reverted
Hi, I noticed that you reverted my Afc submission. Is there a proper way to do it if not from the main space? It's currently a redirect, so I'm not quite sure what the next steps should be. Jfkadmirer (talk) 00:29, 22 February 2023 (UTC)

Since there's a term for "a word or phrase that occurs only once in a work", and an article on it, I thought readers might find a link useful to if they wanted to read more. I actually when skimming the article saw that part and found myself asking "What's that thing called when there's a word that only appears once in something?" Spelling out what it is is best practice to avoid WP:EGG. I mean, not a big deal or anything, just explaining my rationale. Have a good day! --47.147.118.55 (talk) 00:38, 22 February 2023 (UTC)
- I understand that, however I didn't really see mentioning that it is one entirely relevant to the article, hwoever I did find it interesting myself (as well as the fact that such a word existed) ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 00:39, 22 February 2023 (UTC)

Sources
Hi. You recently declined me at Draft:Hypixel_Skyblock. Although I did decide to follow your advice and merge a fraction of the content from my draft into the Hypixel articles. I have a few questions that might help with future submissions. You said "None of the cited sources are reliable (Either a blog, associated with the subject, or usergenerated).". I'm not entirely sure what counts as a reliable source? Blogs are really the only place I could find any form of source off hypixel.net as that is the location for forums and where the developers post news, so nearly any content associated with the game goes there or to YouTube. Also, what could I be using for sources if it can't be associated with the subject, or user generated? And is there something inherently wrong with blogs? I saw them as just an independent medium of self publishing.
I do understand that a single person's blog post isn't really reputable, nor a tweet, but I just don't see how else I can get reliable info as something like Skyblock is notable, it's just housed inside of Hypixel where it isn't covered much except in exclusively places where I might avoid taking citations from. Overall, do you have tips of where I should get my citations from, what I should avoid doing in the future? It's all a little confusing as this is my first time writing and submitting an article. --Spacebyte (talk) 21:27, 23 February 2023 (UTC)

Considering retirement
Hello all. I'm sure some of you will have noticed that I have placed {{considering retirement}} on my talk page. I have my reasons for this, tho it is nothing that necessarily involves me. Technically it involves everyone editing or viewing Wikipedia. Due to some circumstances regarding the higher-higher-ups (as in beyond admins) I'm not sure if I want to remain an editor on Wikipedia. If I have known you on Wikipedia for a while and you really wish to know more details then let me know here and I will send you an email with the details. I do not wish the details to be shared publicly here on Wikipedia or on the Wikipedia Discord server, or anywhere else involving Wikipedia and the WMF (excluding other Wiki's running on the mediawiki software that are otherwise not associated with the WMF). As the template says, nothing is set in stone at the moment, though it is something I am considering. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 15:15, 1 November 2022 (UTC)
Update January 6, 2023: Retirement is still something I am considering, however it's more just a thought in the back of my mind that comes up every once in a while. There's not really a template for that so the considering retirement template will stay unless a more appropriate one can be found, as will this section. My thoughts have not changed much, however it's no longer something that's at the forefront of my mind. Maybe I simply just needed a vacation, away from Wikipedia (and most of the internet in general, tho I was still using the internet for things like YouTube and online features in games) which resulted in this update. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 17:44, 6 January 2023 (UTC)
- That seems a shame. As long as you have been enjoying editing here and as log as you have been abiding by the rules I see no reason for you to allow other people to control your behaviour. Since I have not seen any divergence from the rules it must be that you are not quite enjoying yourself. By all means take a wiki break. I took one for several years. It was meant to be for a few months but I had burned out and lost the fun. For me, the fun is back. I hope it returns for you, too.
- I feel a sense of loss, since we have just met, but your staying because I ask would be your allowing me to control you. So stay, for as long as you want, and return when you want if you leave. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 17:39, 1 November 2022 (UTC)

- If you wish to send it I will read it. It is very rare that I respond by email. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 17:56, 1 November 2022 (UTC)
- I understand the points you make in your email. I know others have felt those things before. What they have found is that it generally all comes good in the end.
- Out of deference to you and in accordance with the rules, I may not reveal, even by my answers, any of the actual points in your email 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 18:19, 1 November 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you. I may choose to reveal them in the future. But for now they remain private via email. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 18:20, 1 November 2022 (UTC)
- If I have any advice for you, it is to choose to ignore the things you emailed me about, simply because nor you nor I can affect them. If building the encyclopaedia is enough fun then the rest of whatever it is you sent me can safely be ignored. This is why I concentrate on building the encyclopaedia by reviewing by writing, be improving, by offering article for deletion, etc etc. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 23:40, 1 November 2022 (UTC)

- That's not something that's easy to do considering how much it can affect me. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 23:43, 1 November 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you. I may choose to reveal them in the future. But for now they remain private via email. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 18:20, 1 November 2022 (UTC)
- If you wish to send it I will read it. It is very rare that I respond by email. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 17:56, 1 November 2022 (UTC)
- I would love for other people to not control my behavior, however I don't really have a choice. If you'd like I will email you more details as said are not something I want public here on Wikipedia. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 17:41, 1 November 2022 (UTC)
Hi Blaze Wolf! I saw the considering retirement above, and though I would understand, I hope you get to a place where you can choose to stay. You're a valuable editor on this project and you've been a big help to me, as well as others! Like I said, I would totally understand, but I sincerely hope to see you stay. - I know that retirement may seem like a bad thing, Blaze Wolf, but it may mean a chance to look back at history. Speaking of, the Reverie Battles (that were archived in the Legends: Arceus wiki) were part of the Daybreak update, so I had to include them. - (12546a) 11:13, 12 December 2022 (UTC)
Prince of Roblox
Hi Blaze Wolf I tried to post this on the spi page you filed but I have discovered a sleeper account of the above sock puppet [33] they are restoring all the edits of there old sock accounts under the guise of reverting another sock take a look at this diff for example [34] the original edit was made by the sock porkchopvariant (A sock of Prince of roblox) which was then reverted by another sock however the original edit was made by the Prince of Roblox sock and even though another sock shouldn't remove it this new account BomayaiyukButt is quite clearly another sock of the roblox account using wiki policy to hide and restore the edits they made with their banned accounts. I tried adding this to the spi but could not edit it please kindly add this to the list of suspected accounts. Thanks. 119.160.96.33 (talk) 05:53, 3 March 2023 (UTC)
- Also please note the account is also editing the same articles as ValidYattoo [35] on Purdah and a smoking gun [36] a food related article with a pro Indian pov where both accounts are active this is typical edit patterns of Roblox socks. 119.160.96.33 (talk) 06:31, 3 March 2023 (UTC)
- Hey IP! I'm not entirely sure if this guy is actually a sock of Roblox unless you've encountered them before. But thanks for letting me know! ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 11:58, 3 March 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks you for replying I am familiar with socks of Prince of Roblox and the edit patterns are the same in regards to food and Kashmir related articles they are also reinstating the edits of a older blocked sock of Prince of Roblox under the guise of reverting Satrar another sock who was reverting the original Prince of roblox socks. Its a bit confusing but the fact that ValidYattoo and BomaiyukBatt find themselves on the same articles pushing the same Pov basically gives it away I would appreciate if BomaiyukBatt was added to the suspected sock list and a CU was carried out it won't be a waste of time I assure you. Thanks. 119.160.96.161 (talk) 15:33, 3 March 2023 (UTC)
- Well Satrar isn't a Prince of Roblox sock but a sock of another account. However I did mention it in the comments of the SPI. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 16:30, 3 March 2023 (UTC)
- Just an update for ya, you were correct that they are probably a sock since they're identical to Valid according to Drmies. Nice work IP! ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 17:04, 3 March 2023 (UTC)
- I've gone ahead and copied your first two messages to the comments of the SPI since you've stated that you are familiar with the master. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 17:13, 3 March 2023 (UTC)

Area of Balearic Islands
Can you revert the area of the Balearic Islands? Because it used to have no decimal, and now it does. It used to say 4,992 sq km, with no decimal whatsoever, and now it does (says 4,992.38 sq km). I also see no such source to support that change. Can you change it back? (And contribution was made by Locked Empire.) Thank you. 2601:280:4F81:4490:BCD5:4921:1409:7FE 01:09, 1 March 2023 (UTC)
- I would, however I can't see any source at all for the area. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 13:30, 1 March 2023 (UTC)
- does this mean that i can revert this rather unsorced change? 2601:280:4F81:4490:BCD5:4921:1409:7FE (talk) 04:18, 4 March 2023 (UTC)
