Laches

If you care to move to some more specific dab, like Athenian general, go ahead; but Laches (person) is fatally ambiguous. There were at least three, and the article will need revision as soon as I get my hands on Athenian Prosopography. Septentrionalis PMAnderson 23:16, 26 July 2009 (UTC)

Pearl River

Feel free to rephrase. The original wording was that we should use Jade River, as we then did, because Jade was ambiguous. That possible form of disambiguation should still be mentioned, even though it will have few examples; it takes a river outside the English-speaking world, for which the base name is ambiguous. Triandafillea vs. Triantafyllia

Hi, the reason I moved the article is because I suspect that the spelling with -llea is a mistake, since the Greek name ends with -λλιά. It wouldn't be the first error GNS makes. I think Fallingrain took its database from GNS. The transliteration according to the naming conventions for Greek names (WP:GREEK) would be Triantafyllia. If English usage (apart from GNS-based databases, like the ones used by weather sites and some hotel booking sites) is in favour of Triandafillea, we should use that of course. BTW I just checked raw google, Triantafyllia is far more popular than the other possibilities. Markussep ^Talk 14:29, 24 August 2009 (UTC)

Re:Aaro Pajari

WP:NCP stipulates that the name of an article about a person should use "the most common name of a person or thing that does not conflict with the names of other people or things", which usually means "<First name> <Last name>". If you put "Aaro Pajari" and "Aaro Olavi Pajari" in Google, the former gives more than two times more hits than the latter. Generally, Finns only use their first Christian name unless they have a very common name.

Furthermore, the Finnish article is named simply fi:Aaro Pajari. The Finnish media also refers to him as Aaro Pajari[1]. I could go on, but there's no point in it. His middle name was Olavi, but I didn't even know it before reading the English article, even though I've read about him in Finnish many times before.--Victor Chmara (talk) 20:52, 19 September 2009 (UTC)

Geologic timescale

Hi Bejnar, I saw you creating an article about the Early Pleistocene subepoch, and found the Wikipedia:WikiProject Geologic timescale after following the link at your user page. I gather the project is inactive? In the past months, I have been slowly going through the stages and series of the ICS timescale, adding content and templates for navigation. I started with the Gelasian and am currently half-way into the Permian (though I did the Carboniferous stages already at an earlier stage). My work could be against some of the rules set at the project page, however, I prefer my own templates. Then there's also the periods project. It's a bit confusing. Hi, you created disambiguation page Huangxian on 26 April 2007 and includes Huang Xian, Zhejiang (you says it is "a city in Zhejiang Province, China"). That's interesting... Statoids data match with Geohive, that explicitly states "population 2006-04-15 census, incl. non-Libyans". If nobody is making errors, it is possible that GIA data are adjusted for 2007: one of GIA sources (for example on Nalut district translated with Google) is: "Annual statistical report for the health sector and the environment (2007)". I'm just guessing... what do you think? Thanks for the suggestion about google trnslate tool... I didn't knew it could translate arabic. History Tags

Hi Bejnar. Which one of these tags "History of Afghanistan" or "History of Greater Iran" is more relevant and should be added to topics like Drangiana, Balkh, Bactria and Greco-Bactrian Kingdom? A wikipedian is continuously replacing "History of Afghanistan" tags with "History of Greater Iran" which were previously added by User:John Hill. I know this topic was previously discussed by you and other Wikipedians and I read your post at Talk:History_of_Afghanistan#History_Template. Any suggestions? Khalid Hossieni

Hello. I can't believe you ask me such a question about Khalid Hossieni. He was born in Afghanistan so naturally he is a citizen of that country for the rest of life. He entered America as a refugee and later became a naturalized citizen, which by the way isn't the same as a natural born American because one can lose citizenship in America at anytime if they break certain laws. But he can't lose the Afghan citizenship under any circumstances. All the sources mention him being Afghan, and his 2 books deal with Afghans. I don't understand why you reverted my edit but I'll leave the page and not get into arguement over this.--AYousefzai (talk) 20:58, 14 November 2009 (UTC)
