Afghan Mellat
[edit]Thanks for the comments. However, good sources have been presented in the article to show that Afghan Mellat is considered by many to be an ethnocentric, ultra-nationalist party. The sources given are written by Afghanistan-experts in the West. The party's website is not neutral. They may call themselves "social democratic", but they are not accepted as a member party of the Socialist International. An example: the neo-fascist German party NPD does not define itself as racist on its website, but it's clear that it is a modern version of Adolf Hitler's NSDAP. Just an example in case of the ASDP/Afghan Mellat: the German version of their website states that Die Partei gibt jeder ethnischen Gruppe das Recht, ihre Sprache zu entfalten, aber nur Paschtu und Dari werden als offizielle Sprachen anerkannt, wobei bekräftigt wird, dass Paschtu auch die nationale Sprache des Landes ist - so already in here, they give Pashto a very special status, that of the national language, and they support the constitution of 1964 which - for the first time in the history of the country - forced both, the Pashto language and the "Afghan" identity (i.e. the Pashtun identity) on all the people in Afghanistan. Tajik (talk) 22:06, 22 July 2009 (UTC)
- For now I will leave your edit until I find proper sources to back myself. We will further discuss the issue, if a discussion was needed, at that time. Thank you (Ketabtoon (talk) 01:51, 23 July 2009 (UTC))

Maida Shahr
[edit]Do you actually take a look at your edits? Or at the reverts? Read the article: you have added a wrong transcription to the Pashto writing, mixing up Pashto and Persian. You have also added an unsourced name to the article - a name that is not even supported by the government sources you have provided. Tajik (talk) 17:47, 25 July 2009 (UTC)
- I have given you 2 government sources in the discussion page of Maidan Shar article. One of these sources is the official website of Wardag Province. Still, I have not deleted the Persion translation of the name because 15% of the district are Persian speakers and they call it Maydan Shahr - ميدان شهر and I respect that.
- http://www.ketabtoon.net/ketaboona/Wardag_qawm_seema_BOOK.pdf is a book about Wardag Province and Wardag People. It is in Pashto, but if you can read farsi than you will be able to read Pashto as well. Scroll down to Page 26 and see how they have written then name of Maidan Shar. We can use the book as another source. (Ketabtoon (talk) 18:07, 25 July 2009 (UTC))
Shindand
[edit]Thanks for your recent edits in Shindand. The article looks much better now. As long as you remain neutral and do not delete sourced material, everything will be fine. Regards. Tajik (talk) 13:26, 3 August 2009 (UTC)
Badghis
[edit]my reverts on Badghis was not vandalism. those numbers that I added are backed with reliable statistics that even you used in some articles. to make the article neutral I have put both estimates, so please stop removing sourced information.--Inuit18 (talk) 00:03, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
An award for you!
[edit]Barnstar of National Merit of Afghanistan | ||
I, Afghana, award you the Barnstar of National Merit of Afghanistan for your work in preserving over Five thousand years of history and heritage for Afghanistan.
|
- While I do believe you have worked hard enough to earn this award (any award is gained through work, not through political or racial views), I strongly condemn the idea that User:Tajik does not deserve WP:good faith. While his opinions will differ from yours and mine quite often, he is never insincere in his attempts to make Wikipedia more WP:neutral. So please, reconsider any accusations against him. --Afghana [talk] 01:35, 12 August 2009 (UTC)
- I am very honored, thank you for the award.
- I have nothing personal against User:Tajik. He is trying, but he is not trying enough to keep a neutral point of view. I still believe that he is playing a double standard when he is editing articles here in wikipedia. Whenever there is an article related to Pashtuns, he gives it a negative image. When I see a positive change in his edits, than I will reconsider my accusations.
- Once again thank you for the award. (Ketabtoon (talk) 01:53, 12 August 2009 (UTC))
Ketabtoon, you cannot just remove tags! The article is in a very bad shape, not to mention the obvious fact that it is merely based on national folktale and legend. So far, you have failed to provide reliable sources! I appriciate your work in Pashtun-related articles (in fact, it is good to see a few more Pashtun authors in here!), but so far, I had to clean up and correct (neutralize!) most of your edits (see for example Abdul Hai Habibi or Karim Khurram). I ask you to re-insert the tags and not remove them till the article is cleaned up and Wikified, otherwise I will have to ask an admin for help. Tajik (talk) 21:39, 12 August 2009 (UTC)

Your edits
[edit]Did you know this?
- This disambiguation page lists articles associated with the same title. If an internal link led you here, you may wish to change the link to point directly to the intended article.
It's posted on all disambigs, your edits deleted a correct link and linked to the Afghan disambig. IMHO this is not acceptable (It's even a bad mark in GA and FA reviews.) I would like to ask you, not to link in this way please. Thank you. Sebastian scha. (talk) 19:45, 2 October 2009 (UTC)
- [From Sebastian scha. talk] You left a message in my talk page. You mentioned that I "deleted a correct link and linked to the Afghan disambig". Can you please let me know which edit you are referring to, because I edited several articles. This way I will be able to explain the reason behind that specific edit. Thank you (Ketabtoon (talk) 20:40, 2 October 2009 (UTC)) [End]
- I noticed this and this edit, because I'm watching these articles. (My fault was not to notice, that there were two links to Afghanistan (WP:OVERLINKING) I think, in context both mean people from A.) Sebastian scha. (talk) 21:16, 2 October 2009 (UTC)
- The correct/official term for a citizen of Afghanistan is Afghan not Afghanistani or Afghani. Therefor, I tried to replace Afghanistani with Afghan in all the articles. Afghanistani is redirected to Demography of Afghanistan. "Demography of Afghanistan" is the closest article that we can link the word "Afghan" to because we do not have a specific article page for Afghan People. (Ketabtoon (talk) 01:57, 3 October 2009 (UTC))
- This is not about a proper term, it is about linking to disambigs, or better remove a link and reinstall a link to a disambig. As e.g. English is anything related to England and a proper link would be to England, English language or English people. So deleting a link to Afghanistani and linking to Afghan (disambig) is not usefull, as you stated yourself "Afghanistani is redirected to Demography of Afghanistan." Your proper edit would have been [[Demography of Afghanistan|Afghan]]. Sebastian scha. (talk) 08:29, 3 October 2009 (UTC)

Re: reverted your edit
[edit]I'm such a bonehead, I didn't even realize they were different. I should have paid attention. It seems to me that having won an award for acting, Aryan Khan (son of Gauri and Shahrukh) should have his own article as well. I'll work on that, fix the links I've made, and change Aryan Khan to a disambiguation page (since there are two notable people of that name). I really appreciate your note! -- Atama頭 22:57, 29 October 2009 (UTC)
- I looked at the history of Aryan Khan, and apparently before it was a redirect it was a highly-contested article about Shah Rukh's son, and was eventually deem non-notable and changed to redirect to a different actor. I'm just going to develop the Afghan actor's page and leave everything else as it was. Thanks again. -- Atama頭 23:11, 29 October 2009 (UTC)

I think that unless there is a specific important event that happened there, an important leader from there, or something that is actually notable, it should not be an article. Making an article for every city is not needed when there are no external sources that can prove anything. --Reubzz (talk) 22:34, 7 November 2009 (UTC)

[edit]It's not up to you to decide weather an academic source is weak or not. The only sources that are weak are random website or random search on Google. As long as a source is academic and sourced, you cannot remove it without any proper explanation. As for the official numbers from Afghanistan: they, too, are just estimates. No exact figures, because there has not been any census in Afghanistan since the late 60's and early 70's. Thus, the Naval Postgraduate School is neither more reliable nor weaker than any other source in the article. Tajik (talk) 14:10, 30 November 2009 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Rana Institute of Higher Education
[edit]A tag has been placed on Rana Institute of Higher Education requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a clear copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.
If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Vandalism
[edit]Hi. Just as I said to Lagoo sab, please read the definition of vandalism, as you are currently misapplying it. See User talk:Lagoo sab#Inappropriate use of term "vandalism". Thanks. Magog the Ogre (talk) 21:39, 26 December 2010 (UTC)
- It is vandalism when they use multiple IPs instead of registered user names to vandalize articles (increase/decrease percentages and numbers, remove sourced information and sources, insult other wikipedians and so on). I understand you have been dealing with Lago Saab vs Tajik/Chantineal nowadays in Afghanistan related articles, but there is more to that. There are very few people using multiple IPs and all they do is edit the wikipedia few times with one IP and move on to the next one. Why I claim that they are the same is that they are very familiar with all the users, rules and process of participating in Wikipedia. It is not that they are fresh editors. 94.219.198.90, 188.107.8.82, 94.219.98.69 are some of the IPs.
- It is almost impossible to discuss with them in the discussion page. Many of the IPs have been reverted by other wikipedians, blocked by admins and I will try to add some more IPs to the list so you will have an idea. (Ketabtoon (talk) 04:17, 27 December 2010 (UTC))
Oh I understand perfectly the frustration of dealing with unconstructive IP hoppers: the only solution is often to protect large swaths of articles or block large ranges of IPs, none of which is a good solution. But it's not vandalism, it's POV-pushing and sockpuppetry. You'll notice at WP:VAND#NOT, it specifically mentions a) accidental misinformation (remember to assume good faith; they are probably not trying to put in misinformation; they believe it to be true) b) NPOV contraventions, or even c) disruptive editing. This falls under those categories. This is an issue I come across a lot; at first, I was bewildered by it, but now I'm starting to wonder if it's a language barrier issue. In English, vandalism exclusively means to puropsefully deface something for the sheer pleasure of ruining it. Sockpuppetry is not an attempt to ruin Wikipedia; rather it is just a misguided attempt to make it better. Magog the Ogre (talk) 04:25, 27 December 2010 (UTC)
- Even though I have been here for over 2 years now, I am still not fully familiar with all the rules and terminologies. I have no shame in accepting that all this time I thought disruptive editing was considered as vandalism. When I talk about vandalism, I mean disruptive and nonconstructive POV editing. A lot of us have been very frustrated by these IP editors making nonconstructive edits like changing percentages, numbers, removing sources, swearing at wikipedians and so on. With a registered user we can at the least try to discuss, track their edits, report them to admin, bring mediation etc, but with IPs, it is almost impossible to deal with them. Especially those who only come for nonconstructive POV pushing edits. Some times I don't even know why they allow IPs to edit wikipedia. In most circumstances, IPs are used for nonconstructive edits. Otherwise, if they want to contribute to wikipedia, they can easily register an account.
- Too much complains hahaha. Anyways, thanks for informing me about the word "vandalism". I will try to limit myself with it's usage. (Ketabtoon (talk) 06:04, 27 December 2010 (UTC))

"Correcting" ethnic percentages?
[edit]Greetings, as you did in Kapisa province, where are you getting these new numbers from? You left the old footnote in place, but put in new numbers. What's your source for these numbers? If you can't provide a source, we'll have to revert back to whatever the footnote citation actually says. Oh, I see that another editor messed with the stats, and you corrected them to what the sources actually say. That's awesome, good eye there. Hadn't meant to sound accusing, it's just we get a lot of ethnic stats tampering, and since your Edit Summary didn't make clear why you were changing the numbers, it raised some red flags. It'd help if you could be a bit more specific in the future, like "changing tampered ethnic stats to reflect NPS and MRRD references." Just so it's clear at a glance that you're one of the "good guys". Thanks again for helping block those stat-tamperers and their ethnic agendas! MatthewVanitas (talk) 04:02, 5 May 2011 (UTC)
- Not a problem. I was in a little bit hurry, so didn't have enough time to re-organize the section and leave a more detailed note. These articles are vandalized on a regular basis. (Ketabtoon (talk) 04:24, 5 May 2011 (UTC))
- Totally understand; it's just that seeing % changes with no Summary puts me on "alert mode". Look forward to working more with you on Afghan articles. I've gotten a substantial number of Free images of .gov and .mil sites, so I like to think that's adding some visual appeal. MatthewVanitas (talk) 18:33, 5 May 2011 (UTC)

I was thinking about helping Wikipedia because many of our people are saying iqnore wikipedia etc they are all iranian but see Afghans are also involved so I thought maybe I should help because wikipdia comes always first when people google. I have some sources which I think you have the brain and knowledge how to work with Wikipedia cause for me its too confusing. I recently made some responses http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Ghurid_Dynasty in response to talk who assumed that he was knowing too much. I was upset when he said that "There are no proofs for Pashtun tribal names, there are no proofs for the use of Pashto, there are no proofs that Pashtuns lived in that area - in fact: all available sources suggest otherwise" so I looked into wikipeda page about Pashtuns and it bearly said anything about Pashtuns simply dated to be between the 2nd and the 1st millennium BC. That's wrong I was wondering why are all these Shias and Iranian and other Afghan and sunni haters were always attacking Afghanistan and our history. Why arn't you guys doing more internal research? I mean translation of new many sources that have came up 2009 and and on? That way we can prove them wrong easily. I mean I can imagine these people saying as childish comments of disrespecting people such as the Pashtuns and yet historical documents prove them to be as formally new records dated as far as 6000 BCE and in fact in the discussion I mentioned world ecyclopedia book which cleary mentions Pashtuns being dated as far 4000 BCE and here this Iranian guy like many other haters claim no prove of Pashtuns in that Area. I mean a historical Pashtun land taken by Mongols is well known history recorded as facts by many farsi sources and here these "Persian" make some of the most childish claim. One must think how could 40 million Pashtu speakers world wide and another 7 million Dari speakers 1 million urdu speakers and 3 Million Balochi speakers having Pashtu tribal names could be not having any history? Please let me know how I can help. thanks Farsiwan (talk) 17:25, 15 June 2011 (UTC)

Rename of Karte Naw?

Greetings, I was unable to find any usage of the move term, and per WP:COMMONNAME the area appears to be referred to as "Karte Naw" in English, so I've moved it back. Please reply on the Talk page if you feel the move is needed. MatthewVanitas (talk) 17:41, 9 August 2011 (UTC)

The number of Pashtuns are today lesser than 20 000, out of more than 480 000. They were a minority before and now their number decreases more and more. Turkmen and Uzbek Taliban are not only government unfriendly, but also Pashtun unfriendly. --AhmadShahAbdali (talk) 19:22, 13 August 2011 (UTC)

The article Malang Jan has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- WP:onesource, and that source is a wp:primary
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Mdann52 (talk) 21:00, 4 August 2012 (UTC)

It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Asian 10,000 Challenge invite
[edit]Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 04:59, 20 October 2016 (UTC)

Possible Collaboration
[edit]Hello Ketabtoon- My name is A. Kinsey, and I am the great grandfather of Abdul Hai Habibi, a scholar who's article you have edited. I come to you with an idea of collaboration. My mother was born in Kabul, and immigrated to the US upon her childhood. My grandfather is a wealth of knowledge, and a very smart man too with 2 master degrees in Engineering from the University of London. I would love to help him put his information on Wikipedia for the better good of the informational world, but I'm unsure if I'd be the best person to help him with this. If you have some free time, would you consider helping me upload my grandfather's information? Best, MrAKinsey (talk) 19:21, 26 March 2020 (UTC)

Please check draft
[edit]Dear Sir/Madam,
I respectfully request your assistance in reviewing my draft article, Draft:Mughal Khel. As a sub-tribe of the Yousafzai, the Mughal Khels are unique in that they are the only Yousafzai tribe residing in Southern Pakhtunkhwa, where they speak a soft version of Pashto. They are based in Bannu and their history and cultural practices have been documented in various online sources and books.
It is my hope that by writing this article, I can contribute to the knowledge base about the Yousafzai tribe and highlight their rich tradition of migration and cultural diversity. I would greatly appreciate your guidance and support in ensuring that the information is accurate and suitable for submission on Wikipedia.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely, 18:06, 1 February 2023 (UTC)Isparki — Preceding unsigned comment added by Isparki (talk • contribs)
