Sources needed for Days of the Year pages
[edit]I see you recently accepted a pending change to June 17 that did not include a direct source.
You're probably not aware of this change, but Days of the Year pages are no longer exempt from WP:V and direct sources are required for additions. For details see the edit notice on that page, the content guideline and/or the WikiProject Days of the Year style guide. All new additions without references are now being either reverted on-sight or in some cases where the patroller is especially motivated, immediately sourced. I've gone ahead and un-accepted this edit and backed it out.
All the pages in the Days of the Year project have had pending changes protection turned on to prevent vandalism and further addition of entries without direct sources. As a pending changes patroller, please do not accept additions to day of year pages where no direct source has been provided on that day of year page. The burden to provide sources for additions to these pages is on the editor who adds or restores material to these pages. Thank you and please keep up your good work! - Hi Toddst1. Thank you for the feedback! We all are human and are bound to make mistakes. I will definitely take this into consideration :) Aasim 23:13, 5 May 2020 (UTC)
Hello RedWarn tester! I hate to reitterate, but thank you so much for being willing to test RedWarn, I really appreciate it.
In the past few updates, I have added AIV (admin) reporting, a preferences panel, themes, customisation options and made many, many bug fixes and added many features based on your suggestions and feedback.
Unfortunately, recently feedback has run dry.
Even if you do not use RedWarn at the moment, or you do (tysm), I would greatly appreciate feedback of any kind. While I go round Twinkle users, sounding like that broadband salesperson in the mall that nobody ever wants to speak to, I'd like some updated feedback from recent and current users.
Any sort of feedback below would be greately appreciated!
- Your first impressions when you tried RedWarn?
- How have you used RedWarn as time has gone on?
- Would you value customisation features, such as macros or shortcuts, such as adding your own quick revert reasons so the tool can fit your exact editing practices?
- Any suggestions for how I could promote the tool to a wider audience?
- Would you appreciate a more developed and thorough user guide?
- Any theme suggestions?
- Anything you'd like changing?
- Something you've always wanted to see in an anti-vandal tool? (I might add it!)
- RedWarn app?
- A way to introduce Recent Changes patrol to new users to make using RedWarn or other tools less daunting?
- Any bugs, gripes, or things that just really annoy you about RedWarn?

My goal is to create the most user friendly moderation tool, and that's why I need your feedback to help make this truely the most favorable anti-vandal tool. While we will never elliminate vandalism on this site, we can get closer to fighting it quickly and easily.
Many thanks for your continued support. Ed6767 (talk) 00:24, 6 May 2020 (UTC)
If you do not wish to get these feedback reminders, let me know on my talk page.
You looked at this before, and I'm hoping you can take another quick look at it and add your opinion on the talk page. Talk:Extraction (2020 film)

regarding the page vidhaan
[edit]can i know the reasons why you have deleted the page vidhaan, if you have any problem with it, i can gove you the answers regarding the my page vidhaan. — Preceding unsigned comment added by NeoAbhi10 (talk • contribs) 06:10, 15 May 2020 (UTC)
- @NeoAbhi10: Firstly, the page was not deleted, it was nominated for deletion. Only admins can delete pages. A nomination for speedy deletion means that a user believes that the page may not meet certain standards to be included on Wikipedia. Secondly, the reason why your article was nominated for deletion was because your article does not make a credible claim of significance. If you disagree with the nomination, you can leave a note here. Aasim 06:13, 15 May 2020 (UTC)
- Looks like you already started a draft here. You should consider improving that draft and then pasting {{subst:submit}} at the bottom of the page when you are done. :) Aasim 06:15, 15 May 2020 (UTC)
Speedy deletion declined: TK/Vinayagapuram Maha Vidyalayam(V.M.V)
[edit]Hello Awesome Aasim. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of TK/Vinayagapuram Maha Vidyalayam(V.M.V), a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: A7 does not apply to schools. Thank you. GedUK 09:05, 15 May 2020 (UTC)
- Hah, looks like I went too speedy there. Self-trout Anyway, have a good day! Aasim 09:07, 15 May 2020 (UTC)
Hi, I've declined your G7 on Template:Uw-sandboxblock even though it applies because I'd like to see it go through TfD rather than be deleted outright. It's a UW template that's existed for three years. Cheers, Anarchyte (talk • work) 09:32, 15 May 2020 (UTC)
- @Anarchyte: The reason why I tagged it with G7 is because the template was part of disruption I caused a LONG time ago while still learning how to edit. I no longer do that anymore, and I do not think this template is at all useful today. It may be a misrepresentation of policy. Can you maybe bring it to WP:TFD? Thanks. Aasim 09:34, 15 May 2020 (UTC)
- @Anarchyte: you know what, I'll do it. Aasim 09:36, 15 May 2020 (UTC)
- Already done. See Wikipedia:Templates for discussion/Log/2020 May 15. Anarchyte (talk • work) 09:37, 15 May 2020 (UTC)
- @Anarchyte: you know what, I'll do it. Aasim 09:36, 15 May 2020 (UTC)
G6 at Obama bin laden
[edit]I declined your speedy deletion request because the most recent deletion discussion was an RfD that was closed as keep. You also filed it with the wrong code, G4 is for deletion by prior discussions, not G6. If you would like to pursue this further, it's been a few years since that discussion so you could probably take it back to RfD. I would suggest as well that you slow down with the speedies in general. signed, Rosguill talk 04:46, 18 May 2020 (UTC)
Kwadwo Safo Jr Personality on speedy deletion contest
[edit]Hi, Thank you for doing a great work on Wikipedia personality articles, you are indeed doing a great and marvelous work, the world is grateful for your hard and credibility on wikipedia articles.
My issue here is that, for the past two years, I have been working hard to put one Ghanaian who is currently playing a key role in automotive technology in Ghana and West Africa. His name is Kwadwo Safo Jr., son of Apostle Dr. Ing. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, the founder and leader of Kristo Asafo Mission of Ghana. Apostle Dr. Ing. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka is populary known in Ghana as the "African Star" championing the course of Science and Technological Research in Ghana and Africa.
Kwadwo Safo Jr whose personality article I am currently working hard to put on Wikipedia is the CEO of the Kantanka Group of companies. He is also a leading member of the Ghana Automotive Development Policy stakeholders. Kwadwo Safo Jr and his Kantanka Group of Companies are playing a leading role in the stabilization of Ghana's newly Automotive Development Policy that was launched in late 2019.
Kwadwo Safo Jr is also a philanthropist and an entrepreneur who is leading the technological innovation course in Ghana. His companies annually outdoor technological exhibits in the month of December 2020 to Ghanaians and Africans and his role cannot be ruled out when it comes to Automotive technology and technology innovations in Ghana. His contributions to Ghana's technological development cannot be ignored and the world through wikipedia would be the greatest opportunity to showcase the world the personality of Kwadwo Safo Jr.
It will be prudent for Wikipedia to take a second look and contribute to publishing the personality article of Kwadwo Safo Jr, a Ghanaian-born entrepreneur, philanthropist and inventor.
I will be grateful to Wikipedia in the assistance of publishing the personality article of Kwadwo Safo Jr. to the world.
Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kdamtsi (talk • contribs) 16:07, 19 May 2020 (UTC)
- Hi Kdamtsi. Thanks for reaching out. I can get how frustrating it is to have an article nominated for speedy deletion. The reason is that, well, I have had pages tagged as such before. Have you read our general notability guideline? Basically: if a topic has received significant coverage in outside sources (not just 1 or 2 news articles), not just a trivial mention, then it is suitable for inclusion on Wikipedia. Your draft was also declined because the topic was determined to fail notability. I do not think there is much you can do at this moment, I'm sorry, but what you can do is take a look at some of our existing articles and see if you can help expand/improve any of the articles in the various stub categories. That is one way you can get familiar with our editorial process and help improve Wikipedia. Aasim 16:19, 19 May 2020 (UTC)

Pending changes reviewer granted
[edit]Hello. Your account has been granted the "pending changes reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on pages protected by pending changes. The list of articles awaiting review is located at Special:PendingChanges, while the list of articles that have pending changes protection turned on is located at Special:StablePages.
Being granted reviewer rights neither grants you status nor changes how you can edit articles. If you do not want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time.

- Hey Aasim! I've renewed access to the tool for six months – after that if you have more of a track record of reviews I'll be happy to make the grant indefinite Kevin (aka L235 · t · c) 18:42, 30 May 2020 (UTC)
Orchestra
[edit]Please talk to me about the edits you rejected on the topic of exemplary instrumentations in the article about the orchestra.
'm not an englich native speaker so I might have made mistakes.
But... the late edits on the topic are bad. They needlessly introduce a heavy bias on bach, and skme of them border on the absurd. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bradabol (talk • contribs) 05:34, 27 May 2020 (UTC)
- Bradabol, I was not sure if you were trying to improve the page or what. You could use a clearer edit summary and add reliable sources to avoid this happening again. (PS you prob want to email the suppression team to have your IP address removed.) Aasim 10:08, 28 May 2020 (UTC)

WikiProject Usability
[edit]Hi Awesome Aasim! I noticed your draft RfC on flat icons. I've recently been trying to reinvigorate WP:WikiProject Usability, so I wanted to invite you to join if you're interested. I've been sharing a bunch of relevant discussions to the talk page. {{u|Sdkb}} talk 08:32, 1 June 2020 (UTC)
- Sdkb, Thanks for asking about my draft RfC! I was drafting it a little but now realize I made it a bit complicated. Maybe I can start out with just a basic RfC in the village pump asking "Should Wikipedia switch to using flat icons?" with a bit of context into the problem, and if there is a dispute over which icons to use for which templates, we have a follow-up RfC about that.
- Yes, this project does sound interesting. Where do I sign up? Aasim 08:40, 1 June 2020 (UTC)
- Yeah, the switch to flat icons is mostly an all-or-nothing choice, and the question of how exactly to map old icons to new ones is more something to be worked out during implementation if it passes.
- You can sign up at Wikipedia:WikiProject_Usability/Participants if you'd like, but the extent of the project right now is mostly just the recent postings I've made or encouraged others to make on the talk page. The best way to get involved is to share stuff/start discussions there, and to invite more people to come join the project/tag relevant pages with it. The project pages/resources are all also outdated, so they'll need to be changed a bunch at some point. {{u|Sdkb}} talk 08:46, 1 June 2020 (UTC)
Hidden profile
[edit]Mind if I use it on my profile please? And if so, how do you go about it? Please reply on my own talk page!! From a concerned White British user who supports the Movement.-- User:SGCommand 20:59, 3 June 2020 (UTC)
- SGCommand, just copy the following code and place it at the top of your user page: You may want to place {{userpage}} in between the two div tags, like this:
<div style="background-color:black;color:white;padding:5px;"> :This user page has been hidden in support of the [[Black Lives Matter|<span style="color:orange;">"Black Lives Matter"</span>]] movement and in protest of the [[Killing of George Floyd|<span style="color:orange;">killing of George Floyd</span>]]. This issue of the Editing newsletter includes information the Talk pages project, an effort to help contributors communicate on wiki more easily.
- Reply tool: This is available as a Beta Feature at the four partner wikis (Arabic, Dutch, French, and Hungarian Wikipedias). The Beta Feature is called "Discussion tools". The Beta Feature will get new features soon. The new features include writing comments in a new visual editing mode and pinging other users by typing
@
. You can test the new features on the Beta Cluster now. Some other wikis will have a chance to try the Beta Feature in the coming months. - New requirements for user signatures: Soon, users will not be able to save invalid custom signatures in Special:Preferences. This will reduce signature spoofing, prevent page corruption, and make new talk page tools more reliable. Most editors will not be affected.
- New discussion tool: The Editing team is beginning work on a simpler process for starting new discussions. You can see the initial design on the project page.
- Research on the use of talk pages: The Editing team worked with the Wikimedia research team to study how talk pages help editors improve articles. We learned that new editors who use talk pages make more edits to the main namespace than new editors who don't use talk pages.
