Second Attempt to Unblock
[edit]Awesome Aasim (block log • active blocks • global blocks • contribs • deleted contribs • filter log • creation log • change block settings • unblock • checkuser (log))
Request reason:
At this point, I truly understand what I absolutely did wrong that merited my block about a year ago. First, I completely obsessed about policy pages without taking into consideration whether it improves the encyclopedia, which is disruptive. Second, I abused talk pages (including my own talk page) and Twinkle for no apparent or good reason at all. Third, I see many places where I can improve on articles, particularly accuracy, vandalism, and images, such as the articles for musical.ly and Tik Tok (app). Fourth, I have abused my own userspace as a webhost, which violates the user page policy, and wastes time of RC patrollers who have to patrol each and every userpage edit (this is the reason why I requested to be blocked about a year ago in the first place). Fifth, I created pointless redirects that was the same problem on wikiHow and got me blocked there. Sixth, I created project and policy pages that did not line up with community guidelines, and was too vague in my edit summaries for any admin to interpret them as a good or bad edit (or set of edits). Seventh, I obsessed too much about the MediaWiki software, such as that extremely long discussion about changing the title of the main page and explaining why it would be technically impossible (also got me blocked from wikiHow). Finally, I see that whatever business I am doing on wikiHow does not affect my block over here, which at this point, for the next 6 months-1 year, I have to either shape up or shape out. I absolutely am sorry for this, understand the reasons for the block, and promise that this will never ever happen again. My incompetence was because I was attempting maintenance of Wikipedia without actually gaining experience on Wikipedia. My (not deleted) mainspace edits are <500, and if I were to narrow them down to not include the pointless template-adding games, they would probably be less that 100. And as Iridescent said, I have promised way too many times to not play games. This time, I actually mean it. Once again, I absolutely am sorry for whatever disruption I caused on Wikipedia, and hope to get my edit access restored soon. Ups and Downs (↕) 04:13, 7 August 2018 (UTC)
Accept reason:
Per your acceptance of the below conditions, you are now unbanned and unblocked. Welcome back! Feel free to let me know if you ever have any questions. I know this is a very broad restriction, but part of the deal is that you're fully expected and trusted to have the competence to comply with it. As a reminder, you may appeal this arrangement at WP:AN in six months, so there is definitely a path open for you to return to Wikipedia as a normal editor without restrictions. It is up to you to take that path, and I trust that you will do so without issue. Happy editing! Swarm ♠ 18:59, 12 August 2018 (UTC)
- Hi. It appears there's a consensus to unban you, so congratulations. However, before unblocking you, I need you to indicate that you understand and accept that you will remain on a final warning status for disruption, broadly construed. Some examples of what this entails are:
- You will refrain from editing Wikipedia policies and guidelines
- You will refrain from unnecessary edits or participation in the Wikipedia namespace or in any Wikipedia meta-processes. Any such participation should be directly and unambiguously related to the uncontentious improvement of articles.
- You will refrain from any experimentation outside of your personal sandbox. Frivolous experimentation will not be tolerated.
- You will refrain from making unconstructive edits in your userspace (you may still personalize your user pages, but any such edits with negative effects will not be tolerated).
- You will refrain from creating redirects. If you think a redirect is needed, you will go through WP:AFCRD. Frivolous requests will not be tolerated.
- You will refrain from making any edits that are not in compliance with the content or behavioral policies and guidelines.
- You will refrain from creating unnecessary or frivolous pages of any kind.
- If you receive a complaint about your behavior, edits or actions from an established editor in good standing, you will immediately cease said behavior and self-revert prior to any attempts at defending yourself. You may defend yourself and pursue dispute resolution measures, but frivolous, excessive, or unconstructive arguing will not be tolerated.
- You understand that you have no say in what conduct will be considered "disruptive", "frivolous", "unnecessary", or "broadly construed". Should any admin feel that you have caused or are causing any sort of "disruption" whatsoever, within or outside of the above examples, they may reblock you for any period of time, or indefinitely, without further warning.
- If you abide by these conditions without any issues, you may request that this arrangement be lifted or loosened by community consensus, after six months, at WP:AN. Please let me know if this is something you are willing to agree to. Swarm ♠ 15:20, 12 August 2018 (UTC)
- @Swarm: I agree. Hopefully this serves as a reminder to not break Wikipedia and not obsess about redirects and processes. Ups and Downs (↕) 17:01, 12 August 2018 (UTC)
User page
[edit]Hi, did you want your user page to be deleted, or to have a Wikipedia:Soft redirect to your meta page? Λυδαcιτγ 06:03, 13 August 2018 (UTC)
- @Audacity: I think deletion would be better. That way, I can apply the same layout for my user page on all Wikimedia projects, not just Wikipedia. Ups and Downs (↕) 06:05, 13 August 2018 (UTC)
- OK, done. Cheers, Λυδαcιτγ 06:09, 13 August 2018 (UTC)
ArbCom 2018 election voter message
[edit]Hello, UpsandDowns1234. Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2018 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 19 November 2018 (UTC)
Requesting Lifting of Autoblock
[edit]Awesome Aasim (block log • active blocks • global blocks • contribs • deleted contribs • filter log • creation log • change block settings • unblock • checkuser (log))
Request reason:
Autoblocked because your IP address was recently used by "4321snwoddnaspu". The reason given for 4321snwoddnaspu's block is: "vandalism, see also edit filter log".
Accept reason:
I cleared it. You should be fine to edit now. TonyBallioni (talk) 22:24, 12 February 2019 (UTC)
- So, I lifted this because technically the accounts appear different even on the same IP, but then another admin pointed out that it is just your name backwards. There’s technical evidence that makes me doubt this is you, but if this keeps happening, I’m less likely to be assuming good faith. TonyBallioni (talk) 22:46, 12 February 2019 (UTC)
- Apparently I did not notice it until I posted the unblock request. Probably some troll on my IP thought it was funny to impersonate me (by using my username backwards), and I didn't notice until I looked at the contribution log for that editor. Ups @nd Downs 1234 23:02, 12 February 2019 (UTC)
- If you’re on a shared IP, just tell anyone else you know who is on it who knows you edit Wikipedia to knock it off. If it’s you (I lifted the autoblock, so I’m AGFing here, but saying it just in case), consider it your only get out of jail free card and don’t do it again. Regarding reverting of edit to TikTok by Justlookingforthemoment
[edit]Hi, I wanted to tell you that TikTok videos are restricted to 15-second duration but users can string those clips together to make stories of up to 60 seconds long.[1]. Unless of course you are talking about these kind of posts:[2]. So, do you think of any edit suggestions on that article. I feel it's necessary to specify the exact limit in the first few lines (since it often appears as featured snippets in Google Search or Preview of articles) and is useful for providing a first-hand information to new TikTok users, or those who want to know about it, "in a glimpse". So do you consider editing it? Justlookingforthemoment (talk) 11:20, 2 March 2019 (UTC)
- There are apparently three different apps but one service: TikTok (as released by musical.ly Inc.), TikTok (as released by ByteDance), and Douyin (as released in China). I think I have a version where I can upload videos longer than 15s but the video cannot have music if that is the case. I'll let you add it in, but the bounds are still 15-60 seconds. I still remember a time when you could upload videos longer than five minutes, but that isn't possible anymore. Awesome Aasim 18:28, 2 March 2019 (UTC)
- I was talking of this app from Play Store: Link. And I feel this is the app about which the article mainly describes about. Is this the one you too are using/referring too?
- If yes, then please edit it yourself using suitable language and references (since, I am new to this app, and may write something wrong :-) ). Justlookingforthemoment (talk) 10:06, 3 March 2019 (UTC)
