[edit]
Can you make the link to your archive more descriptive? I use a screen reader, and therefore I only here "." when I navigate to that link. You can remove the top message on the page if you like as it was already archived. Thanks, Graham87 08:21, 26 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.dar-us-salam.com/authors/taqi-ud-din-hilali.htm. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 14:40, 23 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 19:53, 23 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Of course, i'm always glad to help. Let's see what we can do to get references for notability all around, I think it's a good project in the making. MezzoMezzo (talk) 04:18, 28 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The Saalih ibn Fawzaan ibn 'Abdullaah al-Fawzaan mentioned in the Memri article appears to be the one we have the article about, and I also found a somewhat official looking site for him here. The Muhammad al-Fawzaans in the other links, I don't know who they are, but they aren't the guy we have a wiki article about as the famous member of the Lajnah doesn't have "Muhammad" in his name. Hi there. I removed the flag from the East Turkestan article because it is not the flag of the East Turkestan geographical area, which doesn't have a flag, but of the East Turkestan independence movement. It is relevant to that article, but not to the East Turkestan article where it is only describing a geographical area. Regards, --Joowwww (talk) 10:32, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted page

[edit]

You'll have to give me (or Travellingcari, who originally deleted the page) a good reason for why you want to see it. As it was originally deleted as an attack page and a BLP violation, and you're the one who wrote it, I am skeptical about why you want to view it.--Cúchullain t/c 22:32, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, no dice. A new article will have to be just that - a new article, and will have to be reliably sourced, give an explanation for why it's notable, and not defamatory, if you hope it to be kept.--Cúchullain t/c 15:20, 4 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Andrea Haugen

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Andrea Haugen, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. Layout, citations, etc

[edit]

Hi -- would you please read WP:Layout and follow the style guidelines there? Also, you need to use more inline citations and less listing a load of stuff as sources. Plus, are you familiar with WP:RS, WP:Verify, and for good measure WP:EL? Proposed deletion of The Secret King

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article The Secret King, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

lack of notability

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. I'm not sure I agree with your reversions since most of the information in the section comes from blogs and speculative pieces. I originally reverted this because the user had been warned about referencing blogs previously and blogs are not a reliable source as anyone can make any claim they wish. I believe we should be looking at reliable sources for such a controversial section. I'm going to open a discussion on the talk page and I'll restore the text I deleted from there. Feel free to contribute to the discussion. Thanks TheRetroGuy (talk) 22:03, 19 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've removed the text from the article again since I'm concerned about some of the references. However, I have opened a discussion on the talk page where you're welcome to make any comments you feel appropriate. Thanks TheRetroGuy (talk) 22:38, 19 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Not quite sure how to proceed with this. Some of the information checks out but I'm concerned about the controversial nature of the topic and some of the references being from blog postings (though as I said before I'd hope the BBC would be accurate). In any case I've asked for some editor assistance as I don't have a lot of experience in editing controversial topics. See this discussion. File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:Robin webb.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Skier Dude (talk) 07:19, 2 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You need to add the appropriate copyright template to the picture - examples can be found at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags/Non-free or (bigger list) Wikipedia:Image copyright tags. Skier Dude (talk) 20:46, 2 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of Jonathan Cook

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Jonathan Cook. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jonathan Cook. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 02:09, 28 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:SyedHakeemAbyazQaradawi.JPG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:SyedHakeemAbyazQaradawi.JPG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 15:35, 23 January 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. IngerAlHaosului (talk) 15:35, 23 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:SyedHakeemAbyazQaradawi.JPG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:SyedHakeemAbyazQaradawi.JPG. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. IngerAlHaosului (talk) 15:35, 23 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Andy Chung requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. The inevitability of WikiPedia reflecting "The Official Narrative" of Deep Political issues

[edit]

Hi Arthur

Please ignore if this is unwelcome but the WikiSpooks site could use many of your rejected edits/contributions here. Have a look around and see what you think. It's in it's infancy with competent wiki-text markup coupled with English language skills in short and much needed supply.

It is Irish Republic hosted and its dominant focus is the UK so your obvious knowledge of 7/7 and related matters would be most welcome

The article Go Tenpin has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

There is nothing encyclopaedic said here which is not said at British Ten Pin Bowling Association. It appears to be an article for the sake of being an article.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Sitush (talk) 01:23, 9 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Patricia White requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Sitush (talk) 01:31, 9 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This research project (which I am part of) is looking for participants for a workshop in Amman in April. The workshop is about representation of and by the Middle East and North Africa, in various language Wikipedias, and looking at barriers to contribution and ways to overcome them

In particular we are interested in those who edit from or about the Middle East, either extensively, or who have been discouraged from editing more due to on-wiki issues.

Full details at http://www.zerogeography.net/2012/02/open-invitation-to-workshop-in-amman.html.

Replaceable non-free use File:SchwarzeSonneArtifacts.JPG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:SchwarzeSonneArtifacts.JPG. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of non-free use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of non-free use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable non-free use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable non-free use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — Ирука13 04:23, 9 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
