please nominate kaye styles for deletion as i dont know how to do it, it is made by a friend u can see this on this page under section kaye styles: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Binksternet, it is not orginial work but made by a friend! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:A03F:4B0:6100:E4CF:D141:D06C:7D51 (talk) 12:29, 8 September 2017 (UTC)

Not done - whilst the Kaye Styles article is rather promotional, several links are dead, and others are not WP:RS it seems that he is notable. I note that he had a single on the Belgian charts for 26 weeks, peaking at No 3, and we have had this article for over 2 years. I don't speak Walloon or Flemish, so would not try to clean-up the article myself. I see that you have now worked out how to nominate the article yourself. - Arjayay (talk) 12:46, 8 September 2017 (UTC)

Arabian Sea

Can you take a look at this and a host of changes like this? It runs counter to my "personal knowledge" but geography isn't my strong suit and I don't know how these are addressed. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 11:51, 11 September 2017 (UTC)

Hi User:SpacemanSpiff - That's a classic conundrum. The article used to say "Heralded as the Queen of the Arabian Sea (in spite of sharing no borders with the Arabian Sea)", as seen in the third paragraph here. Perhaps the text in parentheses should be reinserted?
The problem is that the use of the title Arabian Sea, has changed over history, and depending on the viewpoint of the observer. The area immediately off Kochi/Cochin is now officially called the Laccadive Sea, as far up as Sadashivgad which is just south of the Goan border, about 650km north of Kochi.
Some people still consider the Laccadive Sea as just a part of the much larger Arabian Sea, and historically, Cochin was a major trading post with Arabia, which reinforced that concept and use of the name.
The International Hydrographic Organization now clearly defines the Eastern border of the Arabian Sea, as being the same as the Western border of the Laccadive Sea, but many people continue using the older, traditional, names, rather than the "official" ones.
The edit you are referring to is, therefore, correct, as is the explanation in the edit summary. As for "the host of changes like this" I can't comment without seeing them. - Arjayay (talk) 13:03, 11 September 2017 (UTC)
Thanks, the host of changes I refer to is something similar across many articles over a long period of time that I've seen, but I guess there's nothing wrong with that. I wasn't aware of the change in official definition and I guess I've grown up with the dated view of the Laccadive sea being part of the Arabian Sea and Andaman Sea being part of the Bay of Bengal. cheers.—SpacemanSpiff 13:55, 11 September 2017 (UTC)

I see you gave a warning to that user.

Give you something, he is actually an internet troll on YouTube who I have been a victim of. He disrespects opinions on shows he likes, bullies users who don't have the same opinion as him (A user named TripleB780 was the biggest victim) and lies about shows airing on other channels.

Official Photo

I know you stated "nothing is wrong with that photo," (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucian_Niemeyer) but the problem is that the photo gives the impression of being his "official" photo when it is not. We already had one organization download the Wikipedia photo (thinking it was his official photo) and it caused a lot of extra work (and $) to reprint posters and programs. His official photo can be downloaded from the following DoD website (http://www.acq.osd.mil/eie/images/Lucian%20Niemeyer.jpg). I respectfully request that you replace the current photo with the correct one. I'm willing to upload the correct photo if you provide me the steps on how to do it. 134.152.252.250 (talk) 16:10, 11 September 2017 (UTC)

Hello IP from Arlington - Firstly, please note that we are under no obligation to use an "official photo" or any photo at all.
However, having looked at the claimed source here I agree there are some discrepancies between the images, so I have asked the uploader at Wikimedia Commons to clarify exactly what the source of his photo was, and to edit the description so it is correct. Arjayay (talk) 16:32, 11 September 2017 (UTC)
I've replied on my Commons talk page, but I'll reply here as well.

The photo that I uploaded came directly from the website on August 30th. There is a good chance that the one I uploaded was just a temporary one and that they have taken a new(er) one. I will go ahead and upload the new version and place it in the appropriate articles. As for the exif... that was automatically in the file when I uploaded it... either the photographer didn't realize it or they just didn't change it. It is also in the new file, as well. There is nothing we can do about it. Hope that helps?

It is indeed the correct person in the photo, just a bad exif by the Dept. of Defense. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 19:50, 11 September 2017 (UTC)
Thank you.214.18.119.35 (talk) 22:09, 11 September 2017 (UTC)
User:Corkythehornetfan Thanks for that - Arjayay (talk) 10:05, 12 September 2017 (UTC)
Arjayay - Can you please try again to upload his official photo and delete the one that was altered? (http://www.acq.osd.mil/eie/images/Lucian%20Niemeyer.jpg)
Hello again IP from Arlington
The photo you are referring to as his "official photo" was uploaded, and can be found at File:Lucian Niemeyer official portrait.jpg. This image was briefly used in his article, however, other editors thought the earlier image was better, and reverted to it with the rationale "replaced image that was here before all this started - more likely to be a genuine unretouched photo".
As I explained above, "we are under no obligation to use an "official photo" or any photo at all". - Arjayay (talk) 07:43, 23 September 2017 (UTC)

Judgement / Judgment

Hi, thought I would explain why I undid your edit, which reverted judgment to judgement in the article Sykes v Cleary. While Australia generally uses English rather than American spellings, the Macquarie Dictionary notes "Although the general community is roughly divided on the preferred spelling, with a slight tendency towards judgement rather than judgment, there is a convention in the legal community to use the judgment spelling." The article is about a decision of the of the High Court of Australia & the High Court uses "judgment" - see http://www.hcourt.gov.au/. I would love to be able to explain why, but I have never found a reasonable explanation. I don't have strong views either way, but I think its better not to welcome a new user by reverting a legitimate edit. Have a nice day. -- Find bruce (talk) 23:11, 26 September 2017 (UTC)

G'day Find bruce - Thanks for your patient, detailed and referenced explanation.
As ever with Australian English, (and NZ English, Indian English and West Indian English (although not Canadian English)) it is the occasional differences from British English that catch me out - I am familiar with our section on Australian English#Spelling and style, but this doesn't cover judgment/judgement - perhaps it should be added? - Thanks again - Arjayay (talk) 08:04, 27 September 2017 (UTC)

"Raj resources"

What are Raj resources? Can you explain why the Raj resources are not reliable? Malaiya (talk) 16:12, 28 September 2017 (UTC)

Hi Malaiya Thanks for your post
I assume you are referring to my edit at Parwar (Jain community) where I said "Raj sources are not WP:RS" (Note I said "sources" not "resources")
There is general consensus that Raj sources in general, and particularly with respect to castes, tribes, gotras and lineages are not reliable. They tended to be drawn up by amateurs, usually without proper research, often just recording what they were told by one local advisor, who tended to promote their caste/tribe/gotra/lineage and denigrate others. For a detailed explanation of the reasons, please see User:Sitush/CasteSources - Thanks - Arjayay (talk) 16:39, 28 September 2017 (UTC)

When and where this consensus emerged? What period does "Raj sources" cover? What authors are included in this "general consensus"? What are the reliable sources for the history of the period?Malaiya (talk) 18:49, 28 September 2017 (UTC)

Hi Malaiya The consensus has emerged over a number of years, from my memory it was prevailing at least 7 years ago, probably considerably longer.
In general we avoid any sources prior to independence/partition, and later authors who are not academics. Members of many castes etc. have tried to write their "own" history, these are often based on myths and legends, rather than verifiable historical facts, and are often not written from the Neutral point of view which we require. As for specificly discredited authors, please see User:Sitush/CasteSources although this is not an exhaustive list. - Arjayay (talk) 19:01, 28 September 2017 (UTC)
Hi Arjayay. I have seen Sitush zealously enforcing a blanket ban for quite a few years on what he terms "Raj sources". Does "Raj sources" cover the period 1858 to 1947 or it includes 1757 to 1858 as well? What are the reliable sources of the history of the castes in India for this period?Malaiya (talk)

Hi Jwala Mukesh Thanks for your post. My earlier edit here was to change it from city to town.
Having looked at other references, the situation is not that clear - as several sources, such as the Government of Andhra Preadesh here refer to it as a village. I'm happy to accept town (but NOT city) although others may disagree. - Arjayay (talk) 14:27, 29 September 2017 (UTC)

Ramaleela

MR. Arjayay The plot for the film Ramaleela (2017) was actually written by me which gives the right over it. As the film has only been released please do not publish the plot again.

Hello IP 103.94.138.195 from Kolkota
As you have stated the film has been released, the plot is in the public domain. Provided the plot summary is not a verbatim copyright infringement, you have no "rights" over it.
Moreover, assuming your claim of being the writer is true, you have a clear WP:Conflict of interest so you should NOT be editing the page at all, but suggesting edits on the article talkpage Talk:Ramaleela (film) Arjayay (talk) 18:40, 1 October 2017 (UTC)

The plot that you have published is actually written by me and please don't publish the plot fully and the collection report that you have made is also wrong so please allow me to edit the page and Im not from Kolkata and as it is a public domain please dont remove my edits.

Mr. Arjayay You have provided the wrong information in the wiki page of Ramaleela. The budget and gross of the film that you entered does not match any sources and please delete the plot of the film which i have written. If the information that you have provided is correct please show suitable evidences.

As there is no source for the budget, I have deleted it, However, I have found a more recent gross figure, so have included that, and the source - as for the plot - that will stay, as explained above - Arjayay (talk) 09:27, 2 October 2017 (UTC)

The budget of the film Ramaleela is 16 crores as per sources please add it in the infobox of the film — Preceding unsigned comment added by 103.94.138.44 (talk) 11:58, 2 October 2017 (UTC)

I've checked all 6 references and the external link at Ramaleela (film) and I cannot see a "budget" figure in any of them - which one are you referring to?
We need a citation from a reliable source, where the information can be verified, before adding it to the article. - Arjayay (talk) 12:12, 2 October 2017 (UTC)

How to source foreign language site properly?

Hi Arjayay,

You deleted portion of a page I was trying to create on my family's village in Slovakia -- Snakov. The content was a poor translation from the village's website. I was working to improve the translation... You write: (Rv vast, unsourced, coatrack additions to last "clean" version)

Can you tell me, what does Rv vast mean? Also, how do I need to source it to ensure it is sourced properly so that it does not get deleted? Also, what does coatrack mean?

Link to page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snakov

Thanks very much, Amtesta — Preceding unsigned comment added by Amtesta (talkcontribs) 19:59, 4 October 2017 (UTC)

Hi Amtesta - thanks for your post
We do use rather a lot of abbreviations in Wikipedia - many of which can be found at Wikipedia:Glossary
Rv is shorthand for revert, i.e. go back to a previous version, whilst vast is very large, and unsourced I think you understand
This leaves "coatrack", which referred to the lengthy section on Emil Kubek which you included in an article on a place. As explained at Wikipedia:Coatrack_articles#History this goes back to the 18th century when encyclopedia writers had to hide articles about people, in articles on places.
As for how to include references - please see Help:Referencing for beginners and only include information which can be found in Reliable, Independent sources - unfortunately many village websites are not very reliable, and not written from a Neutral point of view.
All significant facts need a reference (which does not have to be from a book/website in English, although this is preferred), so there should be at least one reference in every paragraph, possibly several, and these references should be added at the same time, not later, which is much easier, in any case.
If Emil Kubek deserves his own article, then please write the article and link to it in the village article, but if he doesn't deserve an article, then please don't add more than one or two sentences about him - the article is about the village.
If you have any more questions, please come back and ask - Arjayay (talk) 14:56, 5 October 2017 (UTC)

Glen Canyon Dam Edits

Arjayay - re your comments on my edits for Glen Canyon Dam page - I was in midst of undoing vandalism edits on that page. You reinstated those vandalisms and accused me of vandalism... Feel free to sort the page out yourself, I was only trying to help. I gently recommend you check the edit history before just jumping in.

Hello IP using a dynamic Virgin account. Firstly, please sign all posts on talk pages with 4 tildes ( ~~~~ ) which will add your signature and a timestamp
Looking at your edits, you changed the infobox image size from 200 Px to 800000000 Px here, which I, understandably, reverted, and then you changed it from 200px to 80px here which I also reverted. I'm not sure how either of your edits were "undoing vandalism", however, the article seems correct now - Arjayay (talk) 14:55, 12 October 2017 (UTC)

Warning vandals

Hello, Arjayay and thank you very much for patrolling recent edits, and reverting vandalism. Please consider warning the vandals. Of course, you're not obligated to do so, but a warning to the IP's Talk page will usually appear in my Watchlist at the end of the day. I currently have over 100,000 IP addresses on my watchlist so there is a very good chance I could be blocking most if not all of the long-term vandals you are reverting. Regards,– Gilliam (talk) 15:15, 13 October 2017 (UTC) PS. By the way, you can enable Twinkle in your Preferences, under Gadgets. This tool will allow you to quickly leave behind those semi-automated warnings.– Gilliam (talk) 15:21, 13 October 2017 (UTC)

Hi Gilliam - I normally do leave a warning, unless it is a "first offence", as so many IPs only make just one edit. I also believe that leaving warnings encourages some vandals, as per WP:DNFTT.
I have created over 2,200 user talk pages and made over 7,500 user talk edits - almost all of these are warnings. - Arjayay (talk) 15:52, 13 October 2017 (UTC)

Hello ASHMRY786 please undo the Caps Lock on your keyboard, as you appear to be shouting.
In addition, please start new posts at the foot of any talk page, including a new title, rather than hiding them in the middle of the page.
As for List of insurance companies in India, as it clearly states in several places on the edit page "ONLY ADD A COMPANY TO THIS LIST IF IT ALREADY HAS AN ENGLISH WIKIPEDIA ARTICLE"
This is very clear explanation, so why did you add numerous companies without an article? - Arjayay (talk) 20:26, 20 October 2017 (UTC)

Are you the owner of Wikipedia. This is a matter of our India. You don't have right to what to include what not to include. There are 24 Life Insurance Companies and 30 Non-Life Insurance Companies in India licensed under IRDA. As per your opinion, only those companies which have article should be included. This is totally pointless. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ASHMRY786 (talkcontribs) 20:35, 20 October 2017 (UTC)

ASHMRY786 Please try to understand, this is not "my opinion" this is a consensus, which is common on many of our articles. We only include WP:Notable entries on many, if not most, lists.
You have two options - accept the consensus, or write the articles, but please be aware that articles need to meet our inclusion standards.
If you wish to write an article, please read Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies) and please read and follow Wikipedia:Your first article for how to write an article.
Please be aware that writing an acceptable article is one of the most difficult things to do, especially for new editors, - Arjayay (talk) 20:51, 20 October 2017 (UTC)

Siliguri

I have repeatedly observed that you are the official language of Siliguri city as well as Bengali and English as well as Nepali, Hindi is adding languages. That's not true. The official language of the city of Siliguri is Bengali and English. Siliguri city Developed on Darjeeling and Jalpaiguri districts. There are four subdivisions in Darjeeling district. Siliguri subdivision a part of the four subdivision in Darjeeling district. Apart from the Siliguri subdivision, the remaining three sub-divisions are the official language of Bengali and English as well as Nepali. Siliguri is the city of Located in the Siliguri subdivision. As a result, the official language of the Siliguri subdivision is Bengali and English. So I request you Let's remove Nepali and Hindi languages from the official language of Siliguri city. India's central government language is Hindi. The state language is the official language of every state in India. খাঁ শুভেন্দু (talk) 14:58, 22 October 2017 (UTC)

Hi Shuvendu - Thanks for your post, but I'm not quite clear what you are trying to say.
I have edited the languages in the Siliguri article, because of repeated, unexplained, deletions - in this edit you removed Nepali, Hindi and English, but in your very next edit, here, you removed Nepali and Hindi, but kept English, so you are not being consistent in your changes.
According to pages 122-126 of the Report of the Commissioner for linguistic minorities Bengali and English are the state languages of West Bengal, with Nepali in the three Hill Subdivisions of Darjeeling District - But Siliguri spans between Darjeeling district and Jalpaiguri district, so the situation is not clear. Does the part of the city that is in Darjeeling district have different "official languages" to the part that is in Jalpaiguri district? The city's website does not appear to cover these language problems. Any decisions based on what happens elsewhere, would be original research which is simply not allowed.
As ever in Wikipedia - the important things are
1) to leave an edit summary, which, despite requests on your talk page, and previously on my talk page here, you are still not doing
2) to cite reliable sources for any inclusions/exclusions.
Perhaps the best thing to do would be to remove ALL the languages from the Siliguri article, because, at present, they have no citations? - Arjayay (talk) 16:33, 22 October 2017 (UTC)

Hi AdamSawyer - thanks for your post. Looking at the page history, I reverted an IP, who redirected an article with 72 references, without any explanation whatsoever. I know nothing about the subject, but would revert any such unexplained edit of an apparently well referenced article. Now it is at AFD I'll let others, with knowledge of the subject, decide on the validity - sorry if you were hoping for support - Arjayay (talk) 18:49, 23 October 2017 (UTC)

List of events at T-Mobile Arena

Hi Arjayay, please kindly refer to List of events at T-Mobile Arena for give your input onto an on going debate on whether or not the page should be keeped or deleted. This scenario was very similar to the disputes on List of entertainment events at Perth Arena many months ago. Would love to hear your advice and opinion inputs over this issue. Do feel free to invite any other editors that you know to join this discussion as the case hasn't been closed since more further discussions are needed before any final decision is made, thank you. :-) Xinyang Aliciabritney (talk) 15:12, 26 October 2017 (UTC)

New post

Sorry it was my mistake ‎

Hi User:Ason20 - please put new posts at the bottom of any talk page, not the top, starting with a section heading or use the "Add topic" tab at the top of the page.
In addition, please sign all posts on talk pages with 4 tildes ( ~~~~ ) which will add your signature and a timestamp - thank you - Arjayay (talk) 15:05, 28 October 2017 (UTC)

Shri Marikamba High School, Sirsi

Don't aim at me, what I wrote was correct and about Sri marikamba High school,Sirsi I wanted to add picture of the school Varshitbhat (talk) 14:44, 31 October 2017 (UTC)

Hi Varshitbhat please put new posts at the bottom of any talk page, not in the middle, and start with a section heading; or use the "Add topic" tab at the top of the page.
With regard to the Shri Marikamba High School, Sirsi, you left the page looking like this which is clearly unacceptable, which is why I reverted it, and warned you for disruptive editing.
Nobody was "aiming at" you, other than asking you to stop your disruptive editing, and nobody has said anything was incorrect. However, almost everything on Wikipedia needs to be sourced, so please STOP removing the citation needed tag about the headmaster. Thank you. - Arjayay (talk) 17:10, 31 October 2017 (UTC)

Ason20

FYI - Ason20 is almost certainly a sock of GOOD morning who was blocked for basically the same behavior you're seeing now. On their original account, one of the editors they had a dispute with was Ason27, hence the Ason20 impersonation account. Earlier this month they used Ason271 and was doing the same things. There's no interest in discussion, no interest in collaberative editing - it's their way and their view only, and oh yes, massive push of certain actresses and denigration of others. Annoying, but WP:RBI works fairly well. Ravensfire (talk) 20:17, 31 October 2017 (UTC)

Removing my contribution

Hello! I would like to ask you why you've removed my edit on the page "White lady" I had kinfa hard job with it and I've read that noone can simply remove any contribution if it isn't clear vandalism. Thanks! Romenriel (talk) 22:49, 1 November 2017 (UTC)

Hi Romenriel, I assume you are talking about this edit, nearly 6 months ago?
As my edit summary said "Rv unsourced, unclear addition"
"Rv" is sort for revert
"unsourced" means that you cited no sources, which is a requirement for any addition to Wikipedia (please see WP:V), You are wrong to believe that only vandalism can be reverted, I spend much of my time removing unsourced information, and if editors continue adding unsourced information, they will be warned and eventually blocked. I normally add the "Welcome unsourced" template to such users talk pages, but for some reason, I didn't add this to yours - I am afraid that, nearly 6 months on, I cannot remember why. - Arjayay (talk) 09:34, 2 November 2017 (UTC)

Assamese people

Hello @Arjayay: could you please help? I requested page protection last month to stop this behaviour and it was granted. Could you please help me fix this problem because the IP user appears to have become a registered user? They continue to remove information with sources and they appear to have ignored your message on their talk page because they made the same edit again. I warned them again but I'm sure my effort is going to be futile.(121.219.34.234 (talk) 01:31, 30 October 2017 (UTC))

User:SpacemanSpiff - Thanks for the tip - It was the inclusion of Brij Bhoomi (film) that attracted my attention/led to my assumption.
As you are familiar with the Brijwood problems, is there any chance of you dealing with Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/MANOZ GYAASI, which has been hanging around a few days? - Thanks - Arjayay (talk) 15:27, 9 November 2017 (UTC)

JimmyJoe87

Hi Arjayay, I am not an active user of Wikipedia outside of the page I contribute to, but recently I have noticed issues with the behaviour of the user JimmyJoe87. The reason I am bring this up with you is because I have noticed that you have dealt with them in the past and I am not sure of the mechanisms for grievances and you seem to have a grasp of this. On the page I contribute to, List of visible minority politicians in Canada they have been removing sourced and relevant information and calling it "clutter." I have asked them to open an RFC, or discuss on talk, to give their viewpoint on these changes, but nothing from them except constantly removing sourced info, which has been going on since October 31. I went to their talk page and saw that you had given them warnings before, but they had deleted those warnings, as well as deleted multiple other complaints other users have had about their conduct. In the user's talk revision history I also noticed they told a user to "shut up" when they posted their grievance. I was wondering if there is any action you are able to take on this disruptive editing, or anywhere you could direct me to have someone higher up look at this? Thanks so much for taking the time to listen. Gforbes1962 (talk) 18:17, 10 November 2017 (UTC)

Reverts

Fair question - I initially reverted this edit at Lahij insurgency, as I believed, and still do believe, that that template was appropriate on that page. I see that as a general template, NOT a navbox, and such templates are often included on pages that are not listed in the template, to give the reader easy access to the subject in general. Furthermore, you did not give an edit summary explaining your reasons for the deletion. That led to me issuing the vandalism message - although on reflection, that should have been a deletion warning, not a vandalism one.
I then found similar, unexplained, deletions at Supreme Revolutionary Committee, Supreme Political Council ‎ and Abyan campaign (March–August 2015), again, I think those were correct, as my understanding of WP:BIDIRECTIONAL is that it does not apply to such a template.
I fully accept my edits at Saudi Arabian-led intervention in Yemen and Aden unrest (2015–present) were incorrect, as I had forgotten WP:SORTKEY so they just looked like vandalism.
I am happy to apologise for these edits. - Arjayay (talk) 16:03, 11 November 2017 (UTC)

Mr. Anime?

Is Trey Sesler notable enough for Wikipedia?-K-popguardian (talk) 16:55, 10 November 2017 (UTC)

If you're wondering, Trey Sesler was a YouTuber under the channel name, Lenscapproductions (the channel is still up,) and on some occasions, called himself Mr. Anime. In 2012, he was arrested for murdering his brother and parents. He revealed in an interview he was planning a massacre at a nearby school with his friend, both inspired by the Columbine High School Massacre. He murdered his family because he didn't want them to know what he was doing. He was discovered by police after he was on his way to the school.

In the investigation, they discovered writing on the wall in his room. Some of it said "God, forgive me for what I've done, because I cannot forgive myself." He received a life sentence without possibility of Parole or Appeal.

It was also revealed that his 3rd to last video was called "Mr. Anime is Planning Something." In the video, he was saying quote, "I'm going to reward myself with a 2-3 week break from YouTube." 3 weeks after he posted that was when he killed his family.-K-popguardian (talk) 17:06, 10 November 2017 (UTC)

Hi K-popguardian
I've no idea why you asked me, as I have no expertise or particular interest in YouTube or Texas; but thanks for telling me who he was, as I'd never heard of him. He does appear in our Parricide article, but that entry is totally unreferenced, so may be deleted soon.
A google search shows lots of unreliable self-written sites such as "Real life villains", "Wikitubia" and "Encyclopedia Dramatica", and some unreliable newspapers such as dailymail.co.uk - I have no idea of the reliability of "texasmonthly" or "ABC13". Of course his YouTube sites are Primary sources so have very limited use in Wikipedia articles, while other peoples YouTube sites are not reliable sources.
I'm not sure who to suggest you ask - you could try Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Crime and Criminal Biography where editors with an interest in that field may be able to help, although that talk page only attracts a few comments each month. Failing that, try the main WP:Help desk although they will probably just advise you to use the WP:Articles for creation process, whilst I assume you want to know whether writing such an article would just be a waste of your time.
Sorry I can't be more helpful - Arjayay (talk) 17:37, 10 November 2017 (UTC)

Draft:Trey Eric Sesler

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Trey_Eric_Sesler

What do you think?-K-popguardian (talk) 17:38, 15 November 2017 (UTC)

K-popguardian - As explained above, "I have no expertise or particular interest in YouTube or Texas" - furthermore, I am not a page reviewer. My gut reaction is that you are stretching some rather vague articles, of questionable reliability, too far, but as I am not a page reviewer my opinion is not very relevant. However, I suspect the entire article fails WP:1E, as Sesler does not appear notable for anything other than this one event.
I repeat my suggestion that you try "Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Crime and Criminal Biography where editors with an interest in that field may be able to help." - Arjayay (talk) 16:54, 16 November 2017 (UTC)

COI

I have just been "tagged" as COI by user:93.216.69.12 and user:64.175.41.175. User: 93.216.69.12 has been involved in vandalism that you dealt with recently. I believe one of them added the COI maintenance template on the article. I have responded on the talk page and I am considering not acting further. I am an active editor with over 20,000 edits who first started editing in 2007. I have created dozens of articles, and contributed to wikimedia, wikisource, wikidata, etc. Could you have a look on the talk page to see if I need to follow through? Your advice on how I should respond would be much appreciated.Oceanflynn (talk) 02:29, 14 November 2017 (UTC)

Hi Oceanflynn - I have responded at Talk:International Consortium of Investigative Journalists and removed the COI tag from the article. If you wish to claim harassment, you would need to bring this up at WP:ANI, but as there is only one instance (that I am aware of) I doubt this would "stick", whilst any block of the IP(s) would be very short. I will keep their edits under observation - although the Californian IP is dynamic, so will probably appear under a different IP address next time. - Arjayay (talk) 17:36, 16 November 2017 (UTC)
Thanks for your rapid and helpful intervention. I prefer to spend my volunteer time editing which I really enjoy, rather than following through with an WP:ANI. Why are you reverting my edits?

My name is Vijaysinh Parmar(Udaipur State). I have provided info about some of the Kshatriya castes that exist in 21st century. Yes, not only us Rajputs exist in Kshatriya varna, but there are Yadavas of Jaisalmer who are also called Ahirs. I just provided some info about them and also how we are divided amongst Kshatriya Varna. Is there a reason to remove this information?? I don't think so... Rajputana's history also includes Jaisalmer of these Yaduvashi kings which we Rajputs are proud of. And yes its because the difference between all the kshatriyas led Foreign attacks on India.

Hello 150.107.254.24
Firstly, please sign all posts on talk pages with 4 tildes ( ~~~~ ) which will add your signature and a timestamp.
The reason your additions were reverted is, as is explained at User talk:150.107.254.24 and in my edit summaries, that your additions were unsourced. All information added to Wikipedia needs to ve verifiable by providing a reference to a reliable source.
What you "know" or what I "know" is totally unacceptable - only information from a reliable source, which must be cited, is acceptable, Please see Help:Referencing for beginners for how to do that.
Thank you - Arjayay (talk) 19:47, 22 November 2017 (UTC).

Wikipedia is not a reliable source, so can never be used for references, in any article. Moreover www.yadavhistory.com is not a reliable Independent source, presenting information from a neutral point of view - so unfortunately none of your proposed sources, repeatedly listed above, are acceptable. - Arjayay (talk) 21:14, 22 November 2017 (UTC)

Hello IP from Junagadh thak you for your patience, unfortunately your request is
Not done The History of Andhra Country, 1000 A.D.-1500 A.D. by Yashoda Devi - was first published in 1933, and we do not normally consider Raj/Empire sources reliable. Furthermore the author does not appear to be an academic, writing from an independent point of view, but someone trying to promote a cause.
I cannot find other books by Yashoda Devi, but this is made more complicated by numerous links to Yashoda Devi Ma and to Yashoda Devi the first female MLA from a former princely state - who was born in 1927 so is not the author of this book published in 1933.
Please try and understand, we are only interested in what reliable independent sources have to say, not what people trying to promote their point of view have to say. - Arjayay (talk) 16:19, 30 November 2017 (UTC)

Hello IP from Mangalore - I'm not sure which edits you are referring to as vandalism?
The only recent edits were made in response to Wikipedia:Featured article review#Mangalore to try and maintain the featured article status - I see no recent vandalism, and protecting the article now would prevent IPs making the changes, as suggested at Featured article review, to improve the article. - Arjayay (talk) 16:31, 30 November 2017 (UTC)

Dollar conversions

Hi Arjayay, hope all is well with you. Re: this, When I proposed at ICTF to remove INRConvert, it was only related to the infobox where it presented a lot of clutter and issues with inflation. Some might still argue that per WP:MOS, we should probably be including US conversions, although I only see the guideline make a recommendation for the first instance of a country's currency. Anyway, this isn't an admonishment, just wanted to clarify that my proposal was about the infobox. Regards, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 01:53, 26 November 2017 (UTC)

Hi Cyphoidbomb - My bad - I thought that the argument about dollar conversions and inflation applied across the article - certainly the arguments about relevancy, which conversion rate and which inflation rate are appropriate, still apply. Thanks for your gentle FYI - Arjayay (talk) 16:34, 30 November 2017 (UTC)

New Page Reviewing

Hello, Arjayay.

As one of Wikipedia's most experienced Wikipedia editors,
Would you please consider becoming a New Page Reviewer? Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time but it requires a good understanding of Wikipedia policies and guidelines; currently Wikipedia needs experienced users at this task. ArbCom 2017 election voter message

Hello, Arjayay. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2017 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 3 December 2017 (UTC)

Fahad Butt your edit was removed because it was not sourced to a reliable source, as Wikipedia is NOT a reliable source. Looking at your talk page, you have had lots of warnings about making unsourced additions, including two from me, one about the same article, in May.
Please read and follow WP:V, Help:Referencing for beginners and reliable sources -or you are likely to be blocked. Please also understand that Wikipedia has NO interest in who you are, where you are from, or what you "know". Wkipedia is ONLY interested in what Reliable sources have already said about a subject, which needs to be cited. - Arjayay (talk) 18:42, 10 December 2017 (UTC)

About reverts you made

I think my edits were improvements. Could you please put your opinion on why awkward attribution is needed when the statement is accepted by all scholars as established historic incidents with no contrary narration? Their presence reduces readability and adds nothing to the article. --G (talk) 10:30, 8 December 2017 (UTC)

Hi Gbohoadgwwian - I assume you are talking about Guru Gobind Singh?
It sometimes helps to know who is making a statement as you read it, rather than have to keep going to the references section to find out who made it. This is especially true for those statements headed "According to the Sikh tradition" - it is important that the reader can differentiate between historical fact and Sikh tradition. If you wish to re-remove the named authors, please do so, but please keep it clear what information is just based on "Sikh tradition", rather than presenting that as historical fact. - Thanks - Arjayay (talk) 10:45, 8 December 2017 (UTC)
You are right. Factual statement should be different from beliefs. But things like the year when Person A met where with whom for what reason are historic records, these are about 400 year old event recorded duly by multiple historians with no contradiction, hence there is no need to attribute them to any writer. I believe it is not necessary to qualify such information, readers do not get any more information about the article by doing this, but it may reduce the readability and flow of the text. I will review all the changes that I intended to do and filter out any if it is not a commonly acknowledged historic information. Thanks. --G (talk) 08:58, 11 December 2017 (UTC)
I think you have concern about these two statements which I modified:
  1. According to the Sikh tradition, his youngest sons, aged 5 and 8, were executed by burying them alive into a wall after they refused to convert to Islam.
  2. According to the Sikh tradition, Guru Gobind Singh saw the war conduct of Aurangzeb and his army against his family and his people as a betrayal of a promise, unethical, unjust and impious.
These two are historic information. There are no narratives in existence that contradict these. It is not subject to Sikh tradition if the sons were killed as a matter of fact and hence need not be stated like that, it only dilutes a simple historic statement. I am open to attribution if the oppressor Mughal's account is different. As far as I know these are glorified as conquests of the Muslim rulers of that time. So, the victor and the victim's record and other historic records concur on the specifics of the event. --G (talk) 09:16, 11 December 2017 (UTC)
