Autopatrolled

[edit]

Hello, this is just to let you know that I have granted you the "autopatrolled" permission. This won't affect your editing, it just automatically marks any page you create as patrolled, benefiting new page patrollers. Please remember:

  • This permission does not give you any special status or authority
  • Submission of inappropriate material may lead to its removal
  • You may wish to display the {{Autopatrolled}} top icon and/or the {{User wikipedia/autopatrolled}} userbox on your user page
  • If, for any reason, you decide you do not want the permission, let me know and I can remove it
If you have any questions about the permission, don't hesitate to ask. Otherwise, happy editing! Acalamari 13:18, 14 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,

I saw your new article Moonrise, Hernandez, New Mexico. You may want to check out an article I wrote, Cedric Wright, that discusses this photograph. Wright was with Adams and his young son Michael Adams when this photo was taken. What are your plans for expanding your article? If you include critical commentary, a copy of the photo could also be included under fair use. There is also discussion of the dating of this photo on the Ansel Adams talk page. Glad you have made a start. Cullen328 (talk) 06:59, 18 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I was reading about this shortly after last year's Super Bowl, and seeing that the kid was an actor in The Young and the Restless, decided Max Page (actor) could meet the notability requirements. I was unaware of your article at the time but saw it listed on the disambiguation page. Over the past year, it seems he has done nothing more than public appearances related to the ad, so until he does something significant, he should probably be redirected to your article. Would you join in the discussion?Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 20:16, 3 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Commercial Fueling Network requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Funny Pika! 03:43, 19 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of Commercial Fueling Network for deletion

[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Commercial Fueling Network is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. —Darkwind (talk) 07:32, 19 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. Fictional characters portrayed by

[edit]

Before you get too carried away with "Fictional characters portrayed by" you should be aware that such categories have been deleted a number of times in the past, and that there's a deletion discussion happening at Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2016_July_8. Le Deluge (talk) 11:49, 8 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I figured that out when I was all done for the night and went to create a "Fictional characters by actor" container category. To my surprise, I noticed that a category with the same name plus a bunch of other categories similar to the ones I just made had been deleted nearly a decade ago. I almost (re)created that category anyway, thinking it was on some admin's watchlist and that he or she would see and realize that all these categories of this type being recreated and they would have a chat with other admins about the wisest course of action or be bold and decide to keep or delete it themselves. Anyway, I put some work into creating and filling up those categories, but if you want to bring the issue up at WP:CFD I'm not going to stand in your way.Americanfreedom (talk) 18:18, 8 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I only came across the Depp one on a scan of uncategorised categories - right now I'm more worried about that than CfD stuff. <g> There isn't really an cabal of "admins" monitoring this kind of thing in most cases, it's far more adhoc than that. You might want to contribute to the CfD, I think there probably is a limited case for something like this, even though the likes of Hamlet are clearly not defined by who plays them.Le Deluge (talk) 12:35, 9 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:20, 9 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Ed Grimley into The Completely Mental Misadventures of Ed Grimley. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. The attribution has been provided for this situation, but if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, please provide attribution for that duplication. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you.

I agree that the show needed to spun out to its own article. However, the licensing for Wikipedia requires that work to be attributed which didn't happen when you copied the material. Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!

[edit]

Hello,

Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.

I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!

From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.

If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.

Thank you!

Speedy deletion nomination of Crash Bandicoot: On the Run!

[edit]

Hello, Americanfreedom,

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Hughesdarren, and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I have tagged Crash Bandicoot: On the Run! for deletion, because it doesn't appear to contain any encyclopedic content. You may find our guide for writing quality articles to be extremely informative. Also, you may want to consider working on future articles in draft space first, where they cannot be deleted for lacking content.

@Hughesdarren: Hey, I've beek a Wikipedian since 2008. I know it's not as long as YOUR 13-year tenure, but it hardly qualifies me as "new". You might wanna try User:Vekicante0 who turned my rediect into an article in the first place. Americanfreedom (talk) 05:04, 1 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

No offence was intended, just trying to shorten the curation log. Never any intention to diminish your efforts or the efforts of any other editor. The message you received is autogenerated when an article is tagged for deletion during the page curation process. Sorry that I missed the redirect but as I said the message is autogenerated and sent to the article creator. Apologies again and sorry to have upset you. Best Regards. Hughesdarren (talk) 10:55, 1 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Hughesdarren: Apologies, I keep forgetting that "feigned annoyance played for laughs" doesn't translate well via text alone. It admittedly was a humorous situation, I got a warning on my talk page based on something anther user did, so I decided to joke about it a bit, again forgetting that that might not translate well to just text. Again, sorry.Americanfreedom (talk)

Notice

The article White Rhino (cannabis strain) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Not finding any reliable sources to establish WP:N, does seem to have sufficient notability to fit at Cannabis strain either.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Notice

The article Pineapple Express (cannabis strain) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Strongest claim to WP:N seems to be it was referenced in a movie with WP:NOTINHERITED issues there. Doesn't seem to be a good redirect to Cannabis strain either.

I'll just piggyback here after the automated messages, but please slow down on topics like Blue Dream (cannabis strain). There was already an existing redirect at Blue Dream (cannabis), and that already had consensus to be redirected to Cannabis_strain#Blue_Dream (among many other similar strains) due to lack of notability and poor sourcing. Many of the same sources you are bringing in aren't really any different than what has been rejected before, and please also be mindful of WP:MEDRS.
Awhile back, this was part of a larger effort dealing with both poor sourcing in cannabis subjects as well as general plant variety articles (of any species) that really don't pass notability outside of being briefly mentioned in a seed catalogue, etc. A lot of pruning was already done in that regard first putting the few strains/varieties that had some decent sourcing at Cannabis_strain and splitting them off into daughter articles only if they had sufficient sourcing and notability. If something doesn't seem clear, please use the article talk pages per WP:ONUS to get consensus for such additions rather than reverting. Kingofaces43 (talk) 20:16, 15 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Category:Superman arcade games requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Liz Read! You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Big Al's Super Values requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company, corporation or organization that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

Although everyone is welcome to contribute to Wikipedia, introducing hoaxes, such as Sonic Racing Kart 3D X, is considered to be vandalism and is prohibited. If you are interested in how accurate Wikipedia is, a more constructive test method would be to try to find inaccurate statements that are already in Wikipedia—and then to correct them if possible. If you would like to make test edits, please use the sandbox. Under section G3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, the page has been nominated for deletion. Repeated vandalism may result in the loss of editing privileges.

Edit-warring to re-add PROD tag

[edit]

Hello, I see that you've been repeatedly re-adding the PROD tag to shipping discourse. Per Wikipedia:PROD, as a process, proposed deletion is intended for uncontroversial deletion nominations. Once a PROD tag is removed for any reason - yes, even no stated reason at all! - the article cannot be proposed for deletion again. Any further deletion discussion must take place at AfD (although per WP:Speedy keep this should be done after it's off the main page). If you reinstate the tag again, you may be subject to a short block to prevent further disruption. ♠PMC(talk) 04:31, 16 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Cucumber. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated (whether as a link in article text, or a citation in an article), and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the page, please discuss it on the associated talk page rather than re-adding it. The information and source you added are spam. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Denture adhesive, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly defined criteria, then it may soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:

  • It is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. (See section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
  • It is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. (See section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Wikipedia has standards for the minimum necessary information to be included in short articles; you can see these at Wikipedia:Stub. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here.
