This is my first edit to my Talk page, and I chose to edit it now to address the fact that I made the goofy and unproductive decision to vandalize my own User page and revert the edit only a minute later. I am just making a public statement that I will never vandalize my own User page again. -- (Alexroller (talk) 05:45, 19 November 2011 (UTC))
User page edits
[edit]Hi and welcome to Wikipedia. It's usually not a good idea to edit other people's user pages without their permission unless you are reverting vandalism. People have much more leeway about matters of style on their user pages than they do on article edits. So there's no need to copyedit or wikify user pages. Informal phrasing or quirky punctuation is just fine on a user page if that is the tone that user wants to set. Cloveapple (talk) 06:37, 19 November 2011 (UTC)
Articles you might like to edit, from SuggestBot
[edit]SuggestBot predicts that you will enjoy editing some of these articles. Have fun!
SuggestBot picks articles in a number of ways based on other articles you've edited, including straight text similarity, following wikilinks, and matching your editing patterns against those of other Wikipedians. It tries to recommend only articles that other Wikipedians have marked as needing work. Your contributions make Wikipedia better — thanks for helping.
If you have feedback on how to make SuggestBot better, please tell me on SuggestBot's talk page. Thanks from Nettrom (talk), SuggestBot's caretaker.
P.S. You received these suggestions because your name was listed on the SuggestBot request page. If this was in error, sorry about the confusion. -- SuggestBot (talk) 16:47, 19 November 2011 (UTC)
The article Savanna Oaks Middle School has been proposed for deletion. The proposed-deletion notice added to the article should explain why.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Eeekster (talk) 21:37, 20 November 2011 (UTC)
I agree that it should be deleted. I will take no action and see that it is deleted in a week.--Alexroller (talk) 02:32, 21 November 2011 (UTC)
Deprod of FinanceMalta
[edit]I have removed the {{prod}} tag from FinanceMalta, which you proposed for deletion. I'm leaving this message here to notify you about it. If you still think the article should be deleted, please don't add the {{prod}} template back to the article. Instead, feel free to list it at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. Thanks! We'll be trying to reduce the backlog size by over 1,000 articles and we need your help! Hard-working participants in the drive will receive awards for their contributions, including a brand new one for the single largest wikified article! If you have a spare moment, please join and wikify an article or tell your friends. Thanks! Note: The drive starts December 1, and you can sign up today! |

Are there any black wikipedia editors?
[edit]As unprofessional as this may be, I have a serious question and that is "what is the percentage of nationalities of wikipedia editors?" There should be a poll. I am highly suggestion it. Thank you very much Alexroller. Johnnyy47 (talk) 19:02, 27 December 2011 (UTC)
- Johnnyy47, that is an interesting question. Wikipedia represents people of all races, nationalities, personal beliefs, and personalities. It would be disrespectful of community members to take a poll regarding their nationalities because it would imply that it matters in the world of editing and this community of knowledge.. In reality, we are one diverse group of people working toward a common goal. And to answer your question: Yes, there are black Wikipedia editors. Alexroller (talk) 22:39, 27 December 2011 (UTC)
NOTICE
[edit]Greetings and salutations Alexroller, I have found an exquisite change on your Wikipedia page that I am quite unsatisfied with. It is noticeable that the bouncing Wikipedia globe at the bottom of your page has been removed. This tragic removal has disappointed me because its absence lacks the ability to define your personality. After knowing you for the past thousand hours, I have come to a conclusion that you like to bounce up and down just like that globe. You are a natural bouncer as it has mentally and physically satisfied many people's views (including and especially mine). It is totally your decision to reinstall that globe onto your page, but I will not try to force you to bring it back. I am expressing my opinion about it and it is just not the brightest thing you might have heard. So there you go; that is my opinion. But despite this melancholy obstacle, I would like to comment on your Wikipedia contributions as they have brought a lot of happiness of my encyclopedia knowledge. You, Alexroller, are a spontaneous man...I mean boy...At the age of 15, I cannot wait to see what you can or will create when you get older. Thank you for your service. Johnnyy47 (talk) 03:04, 29 December 2011 (UTC)
- Johnnyy47, I am very pleased that you brought this to my attention. You will be happy to know that I have replaced the logo. And you are very welcome for my Wikipedia contributions! P.S. Please only use my username on here. Alexroller (talk) 04:38, 29 December 2011 (UTC)

There seems to be a problem with the automatic signatures I add at the end of my Talk page posts. I insert the four tildes (Alexroller 05:19, 31 December 2011 (UTC)), but when I look at the page, my username is not wikified, and I need to do it manually each time. I was wondering if anybody could instruct me on how to fix this. Alexroller Talk 05:18, 31 December 2011 (UTC)
- If you use any wiki markup in your signature, you'll need to tick the box entitled "Treat the above as wiki markup" in your user preferences, which should be just below the signature box. If that doesn't work, let me know. An optimist on the run! 07:50, 31 December 2011 (UTC)
- The wiki markup box was already checked in my preferences, and the problem is still occurring. Do you have any other suggestions? Alexroller Talk 18:56, 31 December 2011 (UTC)
- Cut and paste the text in your signature box in your user preferences into the "nowiki" tags below this message, and I'll see if I can make out what's wrong. (Though as I'm going out soon, you'll have to wait till next year!) An optimist on the run! 19:10, 31 December 2011 (UTC)

- If that's all the text is, without any mark-up, then untick the mark-up box. An optimist on the run! 19:20, 31 December 2011 (UTC)
- Thank you. Alexroller (talk) 19:23, 31 December 2011 (UTC)
- Glad it's working :-) See WP:CUSTOMSIG for more information about signatures, if you want to do anything fancy with it at any time. Happy New Year! An optimist on the run! 19:30, 31 December 2011 (UTC)

Your input is needed on the SOPA initiative
[edit]Hi Alexroller,
You are receiving this message either because you expressed an opinion about the proposed SOPA blackout before full blackout and soft blackout were adequately differentiated, or because you expressed general support without specifying a preference. Please ensure that your voice is heard by clarifying your position accordingly.
Thank you.

My new opinion on registration
[edit]For a long time I had a Userbox on my User page stating that I believed registration should be required to edit articles. I have changed my mind and now do not believe that registration should be required because the whole purpose of Wikipedia is to make reading and editing it available to EVERYONE, not just registered users. I think we users tend to have an elitist attitude at times and that we should be more open to "outsiders". Alexroller (talk) 03:29, 15 January 2012 (UTC)

What did you think about the deletion notice you received?
[edit]Hi Alexroller,
In November you received a message about either "Nomination for deletion" or "Proposed deletion" of an article you created. I'd like to ask you a few quick questions:
- Was the message helpful? Were the instructions clear and easy to follow?
- If not, how do you think the message could be improved?
- What do you think about the deletion process in general? Do you understand how to contest a deletion?
You can feel free to answer on my talk page or send me your response by email (mpinchukwikimedia.org). (I won't quote you or link your answers to your username if you don't feel comfortable with that.) Your feedback is incredibly useful for improving the content of deletion notifications, so please take a minute to think about and answer these questions. Thank you! Re: Adoption
[edit]Hi Alexroller. Thanks so much for coming to me to request adoption - it's a great way to learn the encyclopedia. Unfortunately, I've got quite a lot on my plate at the moment, I've already got more adoptees than I can manage well and a couple are likely to get less attention than they deserve. Can I suggest you contact User:Steven Zhang, a very friendly and helpful editor who's very experienced in wikipedia and I'm sure he'd be able to help you out. If you're specifically after me as an adopter, and you'd be willing to wait a little bit, keep an eye on User:Worm That Turned/Adopt, and if it drops down to 3 or 4 adoptees and give me a shout. GOCE March drive newsletter
[edit] Guild of Copy Editors March 2012 backlog elimination drive update
Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors March 2012 Backlog elimination drive! Here's the mid-drive newsletter. Participation: We have had 58 people sign up for this drive so far, which compares favorably with our last drive, and 27 have copy-edited at least one article. If you have signed up but have not yet copy-edited any articles, please consider doing so. Every bit helps! If you haven't signed up yet, it's not too late. Join us! Progress report: Our target of completing the 2010 articles has almost been reached, with only 56 remaining of the 194 we had at the start of the drive. The last ones are always the most difficult, so thank you if you are able to help copy-edit any of the remaining articles. We have reduced the total backlog by 163 articles so far. Special thanks: Special thanks to Stfg, who has been going through the backlog and doing some preliminary vetting of the articles—removing copyright violations, doing initial clean-up, and nominating some for deletion. This work has helped make the drive a more pleasant experience for all our volunteers. GOCE March drive wrap-up
[edit] Guild of Copy Editors March 2012 backlog elimination drive
Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors March 2012 Backlog elimination drive! This is the most successful drive we have had for quite a while. Here is your end-of-drive wrap-up newsletter. Participation Of the 70 people who signed up for this drive, 40 copy-edited at least one article. Thanks to all who participated! Special acknowledgement goes out to Lfstevens, who did over 200 articles, most of them in the last third of the drive, and topped all three leaderboard categories. You're a superstar! Stfg and others have been pre-checking the articles for quality and conformance to Wikipedia guidelines; some have been nominated for deletion or had some preliminary clean-up done to help make the copy-edit process more fun and appealing. Thanks to all who helped get those nasty last few articles out of the target months. Progress report During this drive we were successful in eliminating our target months—October, November, and December 2010—from the queue, and have now eliminated all the 2010 articles from our list. We were able to complete 500 articles this month! End-of-drive results and barnstar information can be found here. When working on the backlog, please keep in mind that there are options other than copy-editing available; some articles may be candidates for deletion, or may not be suitable for copy-editing at this time for other reasons. The {{GOCEreviewed}} tag can be placed on any article you find to be totally uneditable, and you can nominate for deletion any that you discover to be copyright violations or completely unintelligible. If you need help deciding what to do, please contact any of the coordinators. Thank you for participating in the March 2012 drive! All contributions are appreciated. Our next copy-edit drive will be in May. GOCE September 2012 drive wrap-up
[edit]Guild of Copy Editors September 2012 backlog elimination drive wrap-up
Participation: Out of 41 people who signed up this drive, 28 copy-edited at least one article. Thanks to all who participated! Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available here. Progress report: We achieved our primary goal of clearing July, August, September and October 2011 from the backlog. This means that, for the first time since the drives began, the backlog is less than a year. At least 677 tagged articles were copy edited, although 365 new ones were added during the month. The total backlog at the end of the month was 2341 articles, down from 8323 when we started out over two years ago. We completed all 54 requests outstanding before September 2012 as well as eight of those made in September. [edit]I am currently cleaning up the backlog over at Editor Review and I found this in the backlog. As it is no longer posted on the main page at Editor Review, I was wondering if I should remove it from the backlogs and put it to rest or if I should repost it for community review. I will remove it from the backlogs three days from now if I am not given a response.—cyberpower OfflineHappy 2013 19:27, 1 January 2013 (UTC)

Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate in the 2017 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 20:04, 23 December 2017 (UTC) WikiProject Wikify: Current Backlog Reduction Plan[edit]Hey, I noticed you marked yourself as a member of WikiProject Wikify and you are currently listed as active. I was wondering if you would be able to assist with our current backlog reduction plan. While traditional drives are more structured month-long sprints by WikiProject Wikify members, there is currently lacking activity within the project and in order to significantly reduce the incredible backlog, members are encouraged to review all articles marked with the Underlinked Template Message to analyze the worthiness of the template message on the given article. Articles that have nothing to link or are have had wikilinks sufficiently added should have the template removed to clear the backlog and make it easier for editors to find articles in genuine need of wikification. This can be done by any editor; however, all editors should consider joining if they haven't done so already. Thank you! The Novac (talk) 02:15, 11 January 2018 (UTC) GOCE February 2018 news[edit]
