In the sidebar, please change Steve Jobs' cause of death to Pancreatic Neuroendrocine Cancer instead of simply Pancreatic Cancer. They are not the same form of cancer, are treated differently, diagnosed differently and have significantly different symptoms. The link to Pancreatic Neuroendocrine Tumors is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pancreatic_neuroendocrine_tumor. The body of the Wikipedia page states the correct diagnosis and cause, but the sidebar lists the wrong cause of death. So the page is inconsistent. Also, under the section titled "death", the copy that reads "islet-cell neuroendocrine pancreatic cancer" should link to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pancreatic_neuroendocrine_tumor instead of to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pancreatic_cancer as they are different diseases, different forms of cancer. The full form of cancer should link to the right cancer, instead of just a fraction of the sentence linking to the wrong cancer. MichaelKlouda (talk) 19:44, 6 February 2018 (UTC)

Change the birth name to Abdul Lateef Jandali https://gulfnews.com/business/sectors/technology/steve-jobs-a-tribute-to-the-cousin-i-never-met-1.887022 94.113.207.67 (talk) 19:41, 25 April 2018 (UTC)
Alma Mater
It seems to be convention on Wikipedia to list colleges attended as part of of individual's "alma mater". Is there any reason why Reed College is not mentioned as part of this infobox field? BUjjsp (talk) 06:57, 17 May 2018 (UTC)
- That is incorrect, one's alma mater has a connotation to it that signals one's graduation from a university. For subjects whose attendance/graduation/majors/dates is ambiguous or disputed (e.g. Natalie Portman, Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg etc.) the alma mater (or education) parameter is not used as it is misleading. If readers are interested in a subject's education it is but a scroll away in the early life and education section. LivinRealGĂźd (talk) 17:15, 24 May 2018 (UTC)
- Hmm interesting, it seems that some other pages include all institutions attended in the infobox "alma mater" section (see Steve Wozniak for example). Is there any Wikipedia guideline that can help clear this up officially? Thanks. BUjjsp (talk) 06:08, 6 June 2018 (UTC)
Disputed information: Birth name
The Wikipedia page claims that Steve Jobs name at birth was Abdul Lateef Jandali. The only reference is from a GulfNews article written by someone claiming to be his cousin. There is no documented proof that his birth name is Abdul Lateef Jandali. The notes section also claims that his name was changed to Steven Jobs. Can someone independently verify his birth name before posting this on Wikipedia? I am requesting all information related to Abdul Lateef Jandali be removed from the Steve Jobs Wikipedia page until it can be independently verified and documented that his name at birth was indeed Abdul Lateef Jandali. â Preceding unsigned comment added by Sookie7 (talk ⢠contribs) 03:48, 18 May 2018 (UTC)

The articles referenced from Huffington Post uses the Gulf news article as a reference. The Indonesian article has no reference. This leads us back to the Gulf news article written by someone who admits they never met or talked to Steve Jobs. I have searched and have not been able to find any other sources that Steve Jobs had another name. I assume someone who knew him personally would have verified this long ago, but they have not. â Preceding unsigned comment added by Sookie7 (talk ⢠contribs) 02:18, 8 July 2018 (UTC)

Typo in into?
First sentence reads: Steven Paul Jobs (/dĘÉbz/; February 24, 1955 â October 5, 2011) was an American business magnate and investor. What does /dĘÉbz/ mean? â Preceding unsigned comment added by Toothbrush1 (talk ⢠contribs) 16:59, 19 January 2019 (UTC)
- It's a pronunciation guide using the International Phonetic Alphabet. It's linked, and it will take you to a full explanation. The pronunciation is provided because one might reasonably think it's derived from the name "Job" (as Stevens is from Steven and Peters is from Peter) and, therefore, that it should be pronounced with the long "o" in that name. The IPA representation shown means it's pronounced like the ordinary noun "jobs". Largoplazo (talk) 17:19, 19 January 2019 (UTC)

Jobs' attire
The paragraph that starts out, "Jobs usually went to work wearing a black long-sleeved mock turtleneck made by Issey Miyake..." is in an odd place. It implies by the flow that he was dressing that way in his earliest Apple days, and he was not. That came much, much later. It's an important piece of info, but it should be moved to be given better context.
$427
The figure of $427 million is incorrect. It is $429 million. In any case you should 'cn'.

HIV
Considering the recent Wikileaks dump, would it be appropriate to say Jobs was HIV-positive? Exodvs (talk) 23:58, 14 April 2019 (UTC)
- No. Wikileaks is considered an unreliable source. See Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Perennial sources. Largoplazo (talk) 00:16, 15 April 2019 (UTC)
- Yes. Jobs was HIV positive. He obviously died from AIDS. If it really was cancer it was Kaposi's sarcoma, a consequence of AIDS. https://file.wikileaks.org/file/steve-jobs-hiv 86.187.174.244 (talk)

Pages needed
When I came upon this article today, I discovered that most of the information on Jobs's birth, adoption, childhood, and teenaged years was improperly sourced. The sources are listed, but they are books. No page numbers are included. There are tags all over the place that have been there since March 2018. I just removed some material and added some sources, but there is a lot more to be done. I am a bit surprised that an article on a high-profile subject like Jobs would be this sloppy. Syrian, swiss German
Steve's background the ethnicity was erased because "are we gonna go all the way Back to lucy" which is an absurb comment. To begin with, one generation back for US americans born to non US Americans is not abnormal in this or any other encyclopedia. in fact, it's not abnormal for many people born to parents that are not from the country of said human's birth. In addition, while beings the child of a Syrian Muslim had not effect in Steve Jobs that he was aware of, his adoption story and he fact that he was subsequently raised raised by his parents, with the knowledge he was adopted was bound to influence the personality of Steve Jobs. Also, his parents making sure he went to college, was entirely influnced by his birth mother, he feeling on the type of family he should go to after his adoption. Which to restate was entirely because jis mother was forbidden to marry his Syrian Muslim father. Finally, a compelling arguement can be nade that the white male Americans of Silicone Valley mythology was largely influnced by people like Steve Jobs. And while Steve Jobs likely considered himself white male and american christian, he was in fact a half Syrian of muslim descent. Meemsworldwide (talk) 21:22, 12 October 2019 (UTC)

Sidebar incorrect about type of cancer
In the sidebar, it says that his cause of death was pancreatic cancer. But then in the Health Issues section, it clearly states it was a neuroendocrine tumor on his pancreas. The sidebar should therefore say that his cause of death was Neuroendocrine cancer. They are different cancers and because people use this shortcut (calling it pancreatic cancer when itâs a tumor on his pancreas), neuroendocrine cancer is not well known. Steve Jobs Article
When Jobs denied paternity, a DNA test established him as Lisa's father. It[clarification needed] required him to give Brennan $385 a month in addition to returning the welfare money she had received. Jobs gave her $500 a month at the time when Apple went public and Jobs became a millionaire.

We should add a section to discuss the Xerox controversy
A lot of people have this idea that Jobs somehow "stole" ideas from Xerox. This myth really should be dispelled.
I was watching a few interviews this week and not only did Jobs openly admit he worked with Xerox and copied their idea, the engineers who worked for Xerox openly state that Jobs actually tried to encourage Xerox to produce their computer.
Several of the Xerox engineers stated that Xerox failed to understand how important its computer was, and that they ended up moving to Apple because Xerox did not embrace its own technology.
Xerox actually abandoned its technology and its engineers went to Apple as a result. This information really should be included in the article to dispel the myth that it was stolen technology. It was very clearly abandoned and even Xerox own engineers state this.

- Change this code in the infobox:
{{marriage|[[Laurene Powell Jobs|Laurene Powell]]|March 18, 1991|<!--Year omitted per current instructions on Template:Marriage-->}}
- To this code:
{{marriage|[[Laurene Powell Jobs|Laurene Powell]]|March 18, 1991<!--Year omitted per current instructions on Template:Marriage-->}}
- Reason for change:
The marriage template call has an extraneous pipe ("|") after the marriage start date (March 18, 1991|
), which causes the template to display "m. after 1991" for the marriage start date instead of "m. 1991".

Confusion re Birth
The sentence below (3rd para. under "Birth") is confusing. Jobs is presumably the subject of "admitted," but who is "she" in the quotation?

Ethnicity
Steve Jobs' biological father was Syrian, while his biological mother was of German and Swiss descent. Therefore, should he be placed into the categories American people of German descent, American people of Swiss descent, and American people of Syrian descent, or is it not notable enough? 2001:569:7F96:EE00:8111:8FB7:B8A8:9EF3 (talk) 23:33, 25 March 2022 (UTC)

Remove http://www.iphone5reviewed.com/wordpress/2011/11/04/iphone-history-read-about-the-iphone-story-here/ - the source isn't relevant to anywhere it is cited and I've never heard of it. The archive link for it does not work either, and it is now offline. I believe it is another spam link just like the other one I mentioned earlier, this page may require some investigation to see if there are other spam links and who ended up adding them. Semi-protected edit request on 5 November 2022 on Steve Studying Zen error
This edit request to Steve Jobs has been answered. Set the |answered= or |ans= parameter to no to reactivate your request. |
The article states in the intro that:
"In 1974, he traveled through India seeking enlightenment and studying Zen Buddhism." You don't study Zen in India.
Under the "Pre Apple" section the article gives the correct information that: "Jobs traveled to India in mid-1974[57] to visit Neem Karoli Baba[58] at his Kainchi ashram with his Reed friend (and eventual Apple employee) Daniel Kottke, searching for spiritual enlightenment. When they got to the Neem Karoli ashram, it was almost deserted because Neem Karoli Baba had died in September 1973. Then they made a long trek up a dry riverbed to an ashram of Haidakhan Babaji."
Steve didn't go to India to study Zen Buddhism. He went to practice under a Hindu Yogi. Mpcahn (talk) 20:45, 5 November 2022 (UTC)

As detailed in Isaacson (34-49) and other sources already cited in the article, Jobs had read about several Eastern spiritual traditions before he went to India, including Zen. He went to India to learn from Hindu teachers, and upon returning to California he pursued Zen. The text should instead say: "In 1974, he traveled through India seeking spiritual enlightenment before pursuing Zen Buddhism." 67.180.143.89 (talk) 02:02, 7 November 2022 (UTC)
