Partially adapted from Richard Wagner's operas?
[edit]There certainly are a LOT of themes and events in common: Der_Ring_des_Nibelungen ZhangKhaiEn (talk) 08:14, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
Kinnara
[edit]The way Gwendolyn and the other valkyries have wings at their sides is similar to the Kinnara. Not necessarily useful for the article but interesting nonetheless. Jargon 06:15, 8 August 2007 (UTC)
Reception
[edit]How is it that Play Magazine published a full review of the game in the issue already in stores, when the game comes out May 17/22? (They gave it a perfect score) I know Video Game publications get advance copies to write a review by the time the game is released, but to play through a 50 hour game and write a full review on it for a magazine released May 1st? They must've had to gotten a copy of the game at least as early as early April.
Where are all the other reviews? I want to see an unbiased review of the game, Play tends to overrate a lot of the Japanese RPGs they review. JyL 18:23, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
---
Many video game reviewers do not play the entire game before writing/completing their review. I'm afraid I can't quite any specific examples - but for smaller titles such as this one, the reviewer will give the game a quick go-over for a few hours (5-10hrs?) and base their review on that. 16:14, 23 May 2007 (BST)
- I have deleted the one review as its not enough to cite overall reception. There is an averaged out critic score on Game Rankings which is more reliable. Stabby Joe 14:04, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
Norse pantheon vs. Odin Sphere characters
[edit]I don't think it's apropriate to link the games "Demon Lord" Odin to an article about the Norse Odin. Maybe once this article develops, you can create profiles for all the characters in the game, and then link them to those. Otherwise it's like linking an article about the ficticious Dracula to the real Vlad Tepes. Just a thought. JanderVK
- Since it's "Demon Lord" Odin i see your point if it was just odin i disagree, i am kind of on the fence on this one. I think it would be kind of nice for people to learn of the source inspiration since the Odin article has a popular culture section after all. I'm not sertain of the rules when it comes to article linking but i dont see the harm, unless learning something is harmfull. Maybe ill make a seperate section for him under characters. ~Corpse 11:33, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
characters section
[edit]please leave the characters section, most games, books and other entertainment media have a characters section with pictures, and if you're going to butcher the page please discuss the changes here first before you go and delete almost the entire page. its only common etiquette.~Corpse 18:15, 21 July 2007 (UTC)
- While you're right that large-scale page changes should be talked first, there is a valid point that the editor that removed the character pictures had, in that they duplicate the existing character pictures on the game cover. If these are non-free images, this is not necessarily a violation, but definitely the duplication without qualify reason is frowned upon.
- Also, given the unique nature of the game, I would figure a way to combine the characters and their individual stories - it seems silly to have a section for all 5 major characters and then again a section for all 5 major stories. If anything, I would keep the character section, and describe their stories in there as needed, leaving the overall plot section to describe the interactions. --Masem 18:31, 21 July 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you for coming here and discussing, i think a consolidation of the character and the story that ties to them is fine, and i can agree it would improve the article. see how awesome that was coming here and talking about it its a beautiful thing.~Corpse 18:42, 21 July 2007 (UTC)
Masem is exactly right about combining the sections, and I removed the images because all of the characters were already illustrated on the cover. No sense using six images when one suffices. - A Man In Bl♟ck (conspire | past ops) 21:57, 21 July 2007 (UTC)
Spoiler Tag
[edit]For the time being I've corrected the improvised spoiler tags to the correct syntax as per WP:SPOILER but I'm curious if the other editors here think the warning is necessary as per the aforementioned. ♪Xazy♪ 02:32, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
- Unnecessary by the new spoiler policy (they're in a section called "Plot", thus spoilers are implicit). --Masem 02:36, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Odinssphere.png
[edit]Image:Odinssphere.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

In-game screen shots available
[edit]So here're the images captured by myself from the game. Since I'm not a native English speaker, you guys decide how to fill the thumbnail description. If you will, please watch them, in case they got caught in any sort of deletion nomination, I think the fair use tag is applied properly though. -- Sameboat - 同舟 (talk) 14:35, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

I'll get this done soon. JAGUAR 20:55, 27 April 2017 (UTC)
- for the PlayStation 2 home console" - 'home console' is redundant
- "The story was based around the concept of a Valkyrie princess" - can Valkyrie be linked to something or is it strictly in-game lore?
- "First announced in February 2007, the team had encountered difficulties finding a publisher due to Kamitani's sparse record as a game developer. Atlus picked up the title, but it was delayed into 2007" - doesn't seem like much of a delay given it was announced in the same year?
- "All physical attack drain a character's POW gauge" - not important, but does POW stand for anything? It could prove useful for unfamiliar readers
- "who ruled the kingdom bearing his name" - should 'kingdom' be capitalised here? It is later on
- "but later became a spiritual successor" - link spiritual successor
- "Odin Sphere was first revealed in February 2007, three months prior to release.[37] While the game was completed in 2006, Atlus delayed its release into 2007 as they did not want it to cannibalize the market for their other titles, particularly Persona 3" - I think these two sentences would make better sense if they were switched around: While the game was completed in 2006, Atlus delayed its release into 2007 as they did not want it to cannibalize the market for their other titles, particularly Persona 3. Odin Sphere was first revealed in February 2007, three months prior to release.
- "where the game won Best Artistic Design,[93] Best Story,[94] Most Innovative Design,[95] and Best RPG." - the awards should be in quotations
- No dead links
Excellent work with this one! I'll leave this on hold until the minor issues are out of the way. JAGUAR 15:59, 29 April 2017 (UTC)
