Semi-vehicular combat games
[edit]Should we include semi-vehicular combat games (games not dedicated to vehicular combat, but include it)? These would include the Battlefield series, the Star Wars Battlefront series, the Grand Theft Auto series, the FarCry series, the Burnout series, and quite a few other games.
- In all honesty, I don't think Burnout really qualifies as vehicular combat. The only weapon you have is your car, and most of the gameplay modes are race modes with the added attraction of really ramming the opponents, rather than blasting them. I'd suggest moving that to the racing section, instead of the combat one. I'd also say the GTA games don't rely on vehicular combat as much--it's a rare mission that requires that sort of action. But that's just my opinion. IL-Kuma 08:12, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
A couple of suggestions for possible addition, from my PlayStation collection: 007 Racing, which has a wiki page, and (my favourite) Auto Destruct, which does not. The former is listed here as a racing title... I remember them being more like Interstate '76 than the GTA/BF etc. mentioned above, but I recall only single-player modes where there is not a selection of cars to choose to drive. Also, there are other-type enemies in the story-mode such as helicopters and even pedestrians. But, Carmageddon's here, so I think both would belong in this list. Both released for PlayStation around 1999, like Rollcage/Re-Volt. Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by 219.89.226.60 (talk) 16:16, 2 June 2013 (UTC)
New Category
[edit]We need a new category or a purge I think. A lot of these games are not even close to vehicular combat. GTA never really fit and when it did try to, it was just mostly a short stint of people shooting at you while you run over people or in GTA2's case getting a machine gun while no one else had weapons on their vehicles.
Quarantine is a vehicular combat game Death Rally counts Mafia does not count, it just had guys in a car and there was no focus on the vehicles themselves.
We also need to split up games into combat racing and straight vehicular combat where racing is not emphasized. Klichka 06:04, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
Shouldn't the Descent series be mentioned? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.77.232.145 (talk) 01:01, 12 December 2007 (UTC)
Board games
[edit]I remember my brother having a board game with a vehicular combat theme in he 80's or 90's. Looked relatively complex. Should that be mentioned? 惑乱 Wakuran (talk) 13:13, 19 February 2010 (UTC)
- The article itself deals with videogames so I'm not sure a board game would be appropriate here, IMO --Hoosteen5 (talk) 21:10, 18 June 2010 (UTC)
years
[edit]I think adding years to the lists would give this list (which is what it essentially is) more encyclopedic context. —Eekerz (t) 06:12, 23 February 2010 (UTC)

Some sources
[edit]This list is incredibly poorly sourced, so I was wondering whether this genre is notable at all. I Googled a bit and found the following sources that could be incorporated in this article. Remember, technically, you really shouldn't add things to a list unless you have a reference for it.
- http://www.ranker.com/list/all-vehicular-combat-games-list/reference , not incredibly reliable, but it gives you an entire list of games concidered "vehicular combat games". Perhaps only use the twenty top games from this list?
- http://videodunce.wordpress.com/2014/03/10/the-5-best-car-combat-games-that-arent-twisted-metal/ five titles, though I don't think it counts as a reliable source either...
https://books.google.nl/books?id=UbMLAAAAQBAJ&pg=PA192&dq=vehicular+combat+game&hl=en&sa=X&ei=lG6JVOHAIcXmaNeLgpAJ&redir_esc=y#v=onepage&q=vehicular%20combat%20game&f=false "In 1995, Twisted Metal was released and the first true vehicular combat game was born (although other games released earlier had cars and weapons, they were usually more cartoony, like Mario Kart, or just plain action games, like Spy Hunter ...", excellent source, though it is more encyclopedic information. Would help in establishing notability, though.Done.

DenOfGeek does really great articles!Done.http://egmr.net/2012/05/top-5-vehicular-combat-games/ I believe this one is considered reliable as well, but not sure.Done.- http://iphone.qualityindex.com/charts/18919/car-combat-games-on-iphone another list, this time for mobile games.
