Remove Veeram as It has collected only 77.5cr gross which does not include Satellite Rights and Dubbing Rights. Forbes Report is the total amount collected which does not come under theatrical gross(Amount Collected at the Theatre Box Office alone). The box office gross of Malayalam movie Drishyam, mentioned in the page is 60 crores. But the reference clearly mentions that, the said amount is only the amount collected in its theater run. The total gross of the movie is 75 crores according to their official facebook page.Reference - https://www.facebook.com/Movie.Drishyam/photos/a.586080214764319.1073741826.583839468321727/725803677458638/?type=3&theater It is requested to make the needful change. This is the Annual Financial Report Submitted by Eros International To ICICI bank. This clearly explains the Thuppaki Total Gross which stands at 180 crores. citation: http://content.icicidirect.com/mailimages/IDirect_ErosIntl_Q3FY13.pdf This Information which has been submitted to the bank is surely not fake. Eros clearly has to pay tax for the amount they have said in their report. If you can accept IBTimes as a proof then watch this slideshow of top 10 grossers and can you please add Missing Movies(Thuppakki,Arrambam,Kanchana 2) and remove Veeram from the List. For your kind Information, This List Was prepared 5 months after Veeram Release and it clearly explains how Veeram is not a high grosser instead Ajith Kumar's Arrambam is indeed a high grosser.

Yeah but IBTimes took the reference from Forbes. Forbes mentioned it like "earned 130 crores" they din't mention the word box office anywhere. As we have clearly discussed that the box office collection is what is taken into account. That 130 crore for Veeram is based on a huge confusion caused by Forbes which is Inclusive of Satellite Rights. Thus, I suggest you to update the list to [1]. Again to you're clarity Veeram 130 crores is inclusive of the satellite rights and distributor share, without it Veeram just minted 77.5 crores at the Box Office as the film ran for very few days as it shared screens with Jilla. There is a difference between earned and Grossed. Inclusive of all shares and rights the film earned 132 crores that's what Forbes told and Forbes article was not focused on Veeram Collection but on the top 100 celeb list on India. Ashikvc (talk) 14:27, 13 October 2015 (UTC)
- Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. I don't see on the Forbes source where it specifies the earnings as inclusive of satellite rights. Do you have a link to a different Forbes reference that states this? I also do not see on the IBTimes slideshow that the gross figures are not inclusive of satellite rights. If you can find reliable sources for each film that clearly discern between pure box office and total gross, will reconsider Cannolis (talk) 16:18, 16 October 2015 (UTC)

Remove Nanban from the Highest grossing tamil movies as the existing link does not work nor exist now.
The current imdb top 50 list shows it as 92 crores. http://www.imdb.com/list/ls050231721/
Add Kanchana 2 gross which has a worldwide gross of 113 crores per the following sources

- Partly done: IMDb is an insufficient source, which is why I removed Nanban. Metro Masti is used as the source of the 164 crore gross in the Nanban article, but it's not clear to me whether it is a reliable source or not. I also went with the lower 108 crore gross for Kanchana 2, because IBT is considered reliable. I'm not sure about andhraboxoffice. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 20:34, 16 November 2015 (UTC)

Versions
I think it's implied that the grosses are for all versions of the films (dubbed I mean). That seems to be way the other highest-grossing film articles work and for the top films here, that's the implication at least (I don't see any evidence that for example PK isn't including the Mandarin dubbing numbers). For a few, it looks like we only have the gross for the Tamil version which is incomplete but if that's what we have, it's what we have. For those, I put it as a note as it's not really that importance enough to change the charts, it's just an indication that the chart listing is the best source we have. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 19:32, 24 November 2015 (UTC)
Sholey
Should we include Sholay in the tables? A separate adjusted for inflation table? The 300 crore total wouldn't even be in the Hindi table at the moment and would be just above Enthiran and I think we'd be better served with older films adjusted for inflation if we have the numbers. It would really be a better representative sample of the top films of all time rather than just a listing here of current films (which I really doubt at what people would consider the "top" films of all time). If we do a separate table, it wouldn't be too hard, we can just use Template:INRConvert with the year parameter which would do its own adjustments (Sholay wouldn't do that as the sources provide a current estimate). -- Ricky81682 (talk) 20:02, 24 November 2015 (UTC)
- I don't have much faith in the INRConvert template. I've compared some of its results to online inflation calculators, and it's been off by a significant margin. For instance:
- ₹150 million (equivalent to ₹4.2 billion or US$50 million in 2023)
- vs when I run it here I get 2,791,694,219.79
- On the other hand, I don't know how much I trust the online inflation calcuators either.
- When I run it here, I get 2,875,288,729.20
- Anyhow, since we know that all the box values are estimates anyway, I don't know what value we're getting by adjusting estimates for inflation. Seems like we're inviting more Indian cinema box office headaches. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 20:24, 24 November 2015 (UTC)

Hey amend vedalam from the list of highest grossing movies as AndhraBoxOffice is not a credible source for Tamil Movies. I would like to bring to your notice the updated box-office number of 'Highest-grossing Malayalam films' with appropriate references. The movie 'Ennu Ninte Moideen' has a world wide collection of 56 crores. Reference http://www.indianmoviestats.com/malayalam/mollywood-news/ennu-ninte-moideen-worldwid.html) The movie 'Pazhassi Raja' has a world wide collection of 32 crores. Reference- http://www.ibtimes.co.in/kerala-box-office-prithviraj-ennu-ninte-moideen-among-top-5-highest-grossing-malayalam-movies-651418) The movie 'Amar Akbar Anthony' has a collection of 28.5 crores. - Partly done: I'm skeptical of "indianmoviestats.com" as a reliable source, and I'm not comfortable adding the 28.5 crore gross for Amar Akbar Anthony, because IBTimes is simply reporting what another entity has said. There's no presumption that this information has been vetted, or that the reporting source is reliable in any way. Discarding those changes. I did add Kerala Varma Pazhassi Raja, although it seems clear that this was not a profitable film. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 06:26, 8 December 2015 (UTC)
Baahubali: The Beginning should be labelled as a telugu movie
In the list of highest grossing Indian movies Baahubali: The Beginning has been listed as "Telugu and Tamil", while Enthiran, which falls in similar category is listed as just Tamil. Either of those need to be updated to be the same.
Telugu and Tamil are different languages, while movies in either of those languages have significant revenues in both the regions, each of those languages have their own film industries and have to be treated as different. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.169.171.33 (talk) 02:59, 25 November 2015 (UTC)
- It's not clear what changes you are proposing. Baahubali was produced simultaneously, i.e. not dubbed, in both languages. Its classification as both Telugu and Tamil was the result of a lengthy discussion that should be in the talk page archive. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 12:41, 25 November 2015 (UTC)

Disputed Thuppakki gross
The reference being used as of this version of the article attributes the 180 crore total for Thuppakki to the film's own production company, Eros. We cannot use a primary source for controversial content like this, as a film's producer has a clear conflict of interest and would have every reason to manipulate the numbers. We need better sources. I've flagged the data as disputed, which is bound to ruffle feathers, but needs to be done to maintain integrity. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 21:42, 27 December 2015 (UTC)

Change in Highest Grossing Kannada movies.
According to wikipedia page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saarathi, Kannada film Saarathi (2011 movie) has crossed more 45 crores. Apart from this, http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/entertainment/kannada/movies/news/Sangolli-Rayanna-set-to-complete-100-days/articleshow/18239373.cms , says Kranthiveera Sangolli Rayanna (2012 movie) has collected more than 40 crores in 75 days. Change is required in these two. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shrinayakwiki (talk • contribs) 13:45, 29 December 2015 (UTC)
- Partly done - I've updated the gross for Kranthiveera Sangolli Rayanna. I have not made the change for Saarathi, because you failed to provide a reliable source. Scope
We need to establish the scope of "highest-grossing", that is, the specific cut-off for inclusion. Are we going by the top 10 in each language? We have 1 Bengali, 10 Hindi films, 11 Kannada films, 11 Malayalam, 9 Marathi, 13 Tamil, etc. The second thing we need to establish, is what the scope is for the summary box at the top of the article. Currently we have 20 examples. Also, since Hindi is almost always going to dominate this table, is it worth including? TheRedPenOfDoom, Bhuvannalla, thoughts? Cyphoidbomb (talk) 20:06, 23 November 2015 (UTC)
- I say top ten on each one with top being 15 I'd guess. It may just be easier to do an RFC and get votes across the board. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 11:47, 24 November 2015 (UTC)
For uniformity, it is better to maintain top 10 in all the sections including the top one. If we put top one at 15 or 20 and the remaining at 10, I think editors are being confused and are adding more to the top 10 lists of the other sections. We can allow less than 10 if information is not available but not more than 10. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bhuvannalla (talk • contribs) 12:39, 25 November 2015 (UTC)
Recently, Hindi movies picked up in gross collections. Earlier Telugu and Tamil movies used to collect almost similar collections when compared to Hindi movies. But if Telugu and Tamil movies are dubbed into other languages, they have the same potentiality as that of Hindi movies. So it is better to keep the top box and we can give the summary for it as "The following list shows India's top 10 highest grossing films, which includes films from all the Indian languages". — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bhuvannalla (talk • contribs) 13:55, 25 November 2015 (UTC)
For the record, I'm not opposed to having 10-15 in the overall section at top, but maybe for the sake of being consistent with 2015 in film, we should consider a top 10. My biggest objection is that it's going to be a Hindi-heavy block—we know how pissy that makes some people—but maybe that's not avoidable. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 20:02, 30 December 2015 (UTC)

Hello,
I think the section in this wiki page named as "Highest grossing Marathi films" has a missing movie record. The missing record is of the movie "Katyar Kaljat Ghusali" which is a recent marathi movie and has already grossed more than 29 Crores as per mentioned in your wiki page- 'https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Katyar_Kaljat_Ghusali_(film)'.

- 58.185.187.132 Wikipedia is not a soapbox, and there is no justification for leaving two complaints four minutes apart for a problem that you could help fix, if in fact it were incorrect. This is a volunteer project, not a paid one, as you assume, so if you want to see something changed you're free to volunteer your time to dig up reliable sources (i.e. sources with established reputations for fact checking, not blogs) that support the information. You should be aware that all box office values for Indian films are estimations, not incontrovertible facts, so any box office information should be taken with a grain of salt anyway. Most of the content in the article is sourced, so I don't understand your complaint that nothing is sourced. It's also unclear what Tamil film you're specifically referring to. This one? I don't see 200crore+ being sourced there. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 09:49, 21 December 2015 (UTC)

I am baffled by your prejudiced opinions. yes, I am referring to the same wikipedia link https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dasavathaaram [go to box office section, it states 200cr]. On what basis, you claim that other movies have raked in that much amount - by your so called unreliable sources. if you do not have verifiable facts, you should not publish. unlike hindi film industry, tamil film industry does not tract BO collections. So do not publish such false information. I find some of the above comments from 'so called' volunteers insulting. I just want valid and verifiable information to be published, in fact this same page had dasavatharam and now it has been removed. even kochadayan is removed now which made more than 120cr. so kanchana 2 collected more than dasavatharam and kochadayan. There is a limit for everything - it is not possible to tolerate nonsense for ever. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.185.187.132 (talk) 07:49, 19 January 2016 (UTC)
