Linkin Park - Meteora album

On Linkin Park's second full-length album "Meteora" the genre of the album is : Nü metal, rap metal and alternative rock, BUT it does not lis Alternative metal on there even though there is the same amount of alternative metal songs and alternative rock songs. The songs : Don't Stay, Figure.09, From The Inside and Hit The Floor (Hit the floor has alternative metal influences), that is a total of FOUR songs. The alternative rock songs are : Somewhere I Belong, Numb, Breaking the Habit and Easier to Run, that is a total of FOUR songs. So shouldn't the genre Alternative metal be added to Linkin Park's album "Meteora"?. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Monkeylegend (talkcontribs) 17:05, 21 March 2011 (UTC)

However, the band are critically unsuccessful for many years?

My relation with Linkin Park remain netrual, but can you add "However, the band are critically unsuccessful for many years." after "Linkin Park has sold over 50 million albums worldwide and has won two Grammy Awards."? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.142.222.222 (talk) 23:54, 5 October 2010 (UTC)

That is super-great evidence of how good they are! You should definitely put that in the article. — Precedingunsigned comment added by 77.99.151.52 (talk) 17:11, 4 July 2011 (UTC)

The band isn't critically unsuccessful for years, Hybrid Theory and Meteora have been very successful, Minutes to Midnight got mixed reviews, and A Thousand Suns got mostly positive reviews, topped the Billboard and many other charts. So far, their fifth album got very positive reviews. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.178.143.184 (talk) 14:53, 3 June 2012 (UTC)

Industrial Rock

Given Linkin Park's new album, could Industrial Rock not be added to the genre list? Though I admittedly have no source apart from actually listening to the album and hearing similarities to Nine Inch Nails, none of the listed genres are sourced either. They seem like a less abrasive form of Cyanotic and Violent Work of Art on A Thousand Suns, and I am even reminded somewhat of Jesu. 71.218.225.23 (talk) 19:17, 11 October 2010 (UTC)

Somone please add this picture of the band performing. It's from the performance at the VMAs, IT's more recent and is new. Please replace it. The current one was like a year ago. Here is the link. Domain Name?

Apparently, http://progressiveboink.com/archive/worstbandnames.html (LP is number 8 on the list) says Linkin Park called themselves that because the domain name lincolnpark.com had already been taken. I assume this was after they were Xero and Hybrid Theory. Can anybody provide some further validation for this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.128.42.6 (talk) 03:22, 13 December 2010 (UTC)

Both of you are correct. When Bennington joined the band, he suggested they call it 'Lincoln Park'.[1] However the previously mentioned domain name issue forced them to go by "Linkin Park" before they could officially brand themselves 'Lincoln Park.' Neutrality on musical style

The musical style section was clearly written by an obvious Linkin Park fan. That would be fine by me, had it not read like a draft for Shinoda's memoirs, that in my fantasy world he wrote in third person. Perhaps some cleanup is necessary. —Precedingunsigned comment added by 66.41.166.72 (talk) 04:23, 21 January 2011 (UTC)

Revision of Poorly Written Sentences Under Musical Style

" On the most of tracks off the record, the band notably used electronic drumbeats along with outro drumbeats."

Obviously "On the most of the tracks off the record" doesn't make much sense. It should probably read "On most of the tracks on the record."

There also seems to lack consistency in the use of present and past tense in this particular paragraph. In the previously mentioned sentence, we have the band "Notably used,", whereas in the final sentence, it states, "The record further features a "Political Element" consisting notable speeches by American political figures."

Use of the word further as "Further features" seems a bit strange to read too, but that's just my opinion. "Also features" (Or featured) seems to be much less wordy.

Finally, this sentence: "James Montgomery, of MTV compared the record to Radiohead's Kid A." Does not require the comma. It should either be omitted completely or further elaborated on with a quote from Mr. Montgomery. That being said, it's debatable whether critical snippets are even necessary when discussing the band's musical style. —Preceding unsigned comment added by173.22.243.89 (talk) 18:50, 6 February 2011 (UTC)

Linkin Park North American Tour 2011 EP

I noticed that Link Park has released a North American Tour 2011 EP. Should a page be created for this? Also are the songs Omen, Watercolour, and We Are the Dead previously unreleased? --SportsMaster (talk) 23:54, 13 February 2011 (UTC)

To my understanding, it is already mentioned at the Linkin Park Discography article. Unless its a very notable EP, which most are not, it should not have its own article. -- StarScream1007  ►Talk  00:20, 14 February 2011 (UTC)

Genre

Why does genre include types of metal(nu metal, alternative metal). This should be fixed. Linkin Park isn't metal. --Jimv1983 (talk) 17:08, 28 February 2011 (UTC)

--They were definitely Nu-Metal on the first 2 albums, and Minutes To Midnight was more a mix, but still touched on a lighter Metal style. Just because they don't fit the "pure" metal styles (Thrash, Death, Black, Heavy, Prog, etc) doesn't mean they're not metal. Not saying they're amazing metal, but technically, metal defines them. However they never stick with one solid style. —Preceding unsigned comment added by76.202.78.228 (talk) 23:57, 17 March 2011 (UTC)

Rock band?

.... Why on Earth are they titled as "rock"? Sure, that's the category most people put them in, but in general, they're "rap rock". No? Then what do you call Mike Shinoda's verses in most of Meteora and Hybrid Theory. I know they decreased some of it, but that's no reason to say they're a different genre. Have you guys even heard "When They Come For Me" or "Wretches and Kings"? I can even recall Mike Shinoda calling them hip hop. Their genre should be changed to rap rock Panic Reaper (talk) 20:02, 18 April 2011 (UTC)

They cross many genres but even when they have rap in their songs, the instrumentals are more rock then rap by far. Most of their recent music, especially the last two albums have a MUCH lower amount of 'rap' then they used to. Its very little compared to what it once was.Caidh (talk) 20:28, 18 April 2011 (UTC)
It's still one of the general things about the band. Instrumentals shouldn't play a role in this. They are rock-rap in general, so they should be listed as rock rap24.99.66.157 (talk) 22:57, 29 May 2011 (UTC)
This has been been proposed before but for the sake of simplicity, let's just leave it at 'rock.' There were previous genre disputes whether the band should be classified as rock rap, rap metal, or both. --  StarScream1007  ►Talk  00:05, 30 May 2011 (UTC)
But there are many other artists who do rap rock, and are labeled as rap rock, such as Hollywood Undead, even though they have some hip hop and synthpop. Linkin Park has 26 rap rock songs out of their official 34 songs (excluding non-album songs). So in general, they are rap rock. And if someone who has never heard LP came to the page, most would prefer that that person would know that the band is mainly rap rock. "Rock" is too much of a generic term, and people would like their super famous band to be known as something other than the typical rock bandPanic Reaper (talk) 19:14, 14 June 2011 (UTC)
Their genre should be electronic rock, rap rock, nu metal. — Preceding unsignedcomment added by 89.201.250.45 (talk) 10:15, 26 July 2012 (UTC)

Issues on the LP article.

Just keep all genres listed on that article the same. Do not change all of that at each time you edit the "Linkin Park" article. I'm not a LP fan, so I piss the people who request any genre-changing/adding/removing/elc. off.

So is the A Thousand Suns section "slanted towards recent events" and/or way too much lengthy? '| () () `'/ I> (talk) 19:59, 8 May 2011 (UTC)

Ideally, the section would read better if sentences were introduced without "On April 23" or something along those lines. Notability is not inherited - a member of a band, regardless of its popularity, is not considered notable by Wikipedia's standards unless it has enough reliable and substantial sources that can create meaningful and encyclopedic information. Reliable sources are ex sources from well-known publishers, magazines, websites, television programs, ect. that we can attribute to an author. If you wish to create a new / improved Farrell article, please do so at your user space, User:Mrbeastmodeallday/sandbox, where you can edit and experiment as you wish until you feel the content meets our standards. Changing the genre order

I consider it's reasonable to change not the genres, but just their order.

I suggest: Alternative rock, rap rock, nu metal, alternative metal, since LP's metal genres are now only a part of the band's past.Robfbms (talk) 07:27, 13 July 2011 (UTC)

I think that is a reasonable suggestion (and the order you proposed is probably best). I just worry about future edit wars over the order of genres instead of just the listing/non-listing of such. Don't think that is a reason not to proceed - but would suggest waiting a few days for any objections to the order before making the edit.Caidh (talk) 14:25, 13 July 2011 (UTC)

Could you please change the "Band members" part? Chester doesn´t sing only. He also plays the rhythm guitar and the percussion at many times.

I was pretty specific in my opinion. If you watched some of the lp concerts you see chester often plays the guitar or the percussion. So I think it deserves to be mentioned. I understand that it's all written on his own site already, but mike and joe got their own site as well and all their work is written on the lp page as well.

Rap Metal?

Genre

Why was Alternative Rock switched to their primary genre instead of nu metal? They became famous for their distinct nu metal sound, dont you think that should be there primary genre? they had two and a half alt. metal albums and 1 and a half alt. rock albums, maybe it should go back to the order it was since its not like they are known for their alternative rock music. Allmusic.com considers them metal(http://www.allmusic.com/artist/linkin-park-p447095) and so does this EW critic (http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,435104,00.html).

Years, Months & Days

"On January 12, 2011, the band's keyboardist and vocalist Mike confirmed that their fifth studio album would be titled "Years, Months & Days". The album would also be set to include 13 tracks, with four other additional tracks in the iTunes deluxe set. Mike also rveealed to Kerrang! magazine in an exclusive interview that the album would set to feature guests like Rivers Cuomo of Weezer (on the track, Hectic) and Slash (on the track, Pain & Medicine). The complete guest line-up, however, hasnt been confirmed yet, and in turn revealing only two of the musicians only. Track titles confirmed includes, "Hectic", "The Messenger II", "Pain & Medicine" and "Those Years, Months & Days". "

Can we get confirmation on this? I looked and I could not find any sources online about this, nor any citations in the wiki. Netherwood (talk) 00:26, 13 January 2012 (UTC)

Sorry about not logging in, but this is not true at all, and just someone looking to get attention. It's great it got removed quickly before it spread, because not only has Mike not confirmed anything of the sort, but Dave (bassist) just stated as of yesterday in a fan club chat that the album isn't completed. Again, just some moron looking to get an unfair rise out of Linkin Park fans. -LPADerek

Unfortunately Being part of a very successful band does not help a subject meet Wikipedia's criteria for WP:Notability. Bourdon's old articles were un-sourced, lacked proper background information, or any critical commentary. Chester Bennington or Mike Shinoda's articles have much more sourced andattributable information that talk about their background, contributions to Linkin Park, and musical capabilities. Bourdan's article mostly contains information that's already stated in this article - he plays drums for Linkin Park had a relationship with a model/actress. Bourdan is not unpopular or unmemorable, there's just not enough of reliable sources that we can use to create an article that does not just mirror information from this article. If we found more reliable information about Bourdan, then we could re-create the article and week with away from AFD. --  StarScream1007  ►Talk  22:51, 25 June 2012 (UTC)

Confusions with Genres

I believe that many ones are confused with the way music genres are written and categorized.
When I first looked into WikiPedia back in 2006/2007, one of my favorite bands, Led Zeppelin, had 4 different genres.
Back in 2007, their genres were like this:
Hard rock
Heavy metal
Blues-rock
Folk rock
They were once written in this way, but I forgot that users can change and update things.
I think people should understand that as well.
I bet right now, Led Zeppelin's genres no longer appear that way.
At one time, I thought that genres were given to musicians based upon the compilation of the music, the band or the artist themselves, and their appearance.
User:StarScream1007, the Alternative rock, Rap rock, Alternative metal, and Nu metal is perfect.

genres

True. Linkin Park does have some of that electronic rock.
It seems like everything would be electronic since they battled for the #1 spot on the Billboard 200 against Maroon 5, who both left their mainstream crowds and tried something different.
Although it would make since to have it like this: Alternative rock, Alternative metal, Rap-rock, Nu-metal, Electronic rock, their genres are still all of those without Electronic rock.
it's just like Queen, who ventured to several rock genres during the years being active.
It would be better off saying that their genre is: Rock.

Rock band not Alternative metal band
