Article split
[edit]@Unnamelessness: I noticed that the page was split into a new article without prior discussion. I understand your rationale behind this but I would have at least appreciated a discussion before this decision was made boldly. This current article already has the appropriate Wikidata for the franchise and is linked to the Japanese/Chinese Wikipedia which describes the franchise as a whole. lullabying (talk) 20:52, 4 April 2020 (UTC)
- I fully understand, but there are no policies that say we should do exactly the same thing as other Wikipedias. The "other stuff exists" logic doesn't work. Unnamelessness (talk) 03:24, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
- @Unnamelessness: Right, but I was only making the point that there were better ways of splitting up the article than to create a new page just for the franchise (which in turn affects the Wikidata). At the very least, this page could have been used as the main franchise page and used Template:Infobox franchise while moving the discography to a new page. Some examples: The Idolmaster, Uta no Prince-sama, Pretty Rhythm (full disclosure: I mostly worked on the last two). lullabying (talk) 03:31, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
- There is a good way to do that — Move this page to a new target page, something like Hypnosis Mic: Division Rap Battle (group). Then switch the target page and the franchise page in the Wikidata. As for the infobox, I don't think using Template:Infobox franchise is the answer, as it cannot well-store the contents about manga/light novel — it still requires using Template:Infobox animanga/Print as subboxes. - @Unnamelessness: I actually prefer we separate the discography to a new page, such as Hypnosis Mic discography and keep info on the franchise on the current page. lullabying (talk) 05:52, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
- I think it is a bit problematic as there are two topics — the group and their derivative works — both storing in a single page. Unnamelessness (talk) 06:02, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
- @Unnamelessness: How so? This whole project has always been intended to be a franchise (see definition of "multimedia project"). This didn't start out as just an independent musical group with an anime based off it -- it was planned as a franchise from the get-go. lullabying (talk) 06:05, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
- You've already split the characters list to a separate page and having a separate page for the discography can cover the musical releases. Whatever information about the manga, games, and anime can be integrated onto this page. lullabying (talk) 06:44, 5 April 2020 (UTC)

The project was initially revealed by King Records in 2017, when they were known as virtual bands. Then these bands battled by, let's say, teams via different platforms — manga, mobile game, stage plays, live events. Finally, an anime adaptation was received. It is clear that the project includes two parts: the creation of these groups (which is the topic of this page) and battling (which is the topic of the franchise page).
Regarding the characters list page, I think I've put myself clear: a) Allowing detailed information/spoilers and more importantly, b) offering an interactive page for both band page and franchise page. Unnamelessness (talk) 07:57, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
- @Unnamelessness: I have no problem with the characters page. But there's no reason why the groups page and franchise page should be separated because the virtual band is part of the franchise and it had always been planned to expand past releasing CDs. A separate discography page, like I said, can help deal with the clutter from the music releases. By extension, see how pages like Love Live!, Idolish7, Wake Up, Girls!, and Tsukiuta dealt with this. lullabying (talk) 08:18, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
- Others've done like that makes nonsense. I'll be honest, all these pages should be split as per WP:CONSPLIT.
- Let's just stop arguing and seek a compromise. I just went to the official website, and confirmed that everything but the anime TV series is part of the franchise, so at least the TV anime should receive an individual article, especially considering the anime has its own site. Unnamelessness (talk) 09:43, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
- @Unnamelessness: A separate article for the anime is fine by me, though I disagree on your point that it's not part of the franchise. lullabying (talk) 11:39, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
- If there's no disagreement, I will rename the current franchise page to the anime page while merging the rest of the article as well as creating a discography page. Unnamelessness (talk) 12:05, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
- You would have to redirect the franchise page and create a new page for the anime, unless you can ask for the redirect to be deleted. lullabying (talk) 20:13, 5 April 2020 (UTC)
