Split to per-year articles
[edit]The article, in its current state, is poorly readable as it consists merely of 26 pages of tables, most with little or no context. The page should be split into several "YYYY Interactive Achievement Awards" (1998–2012) and "XXth Annual D.I.C.E. Awards" (from 2013) pages, listing each category awarded that year with their respective nominees. This page should only have the most significant awards (such as GOTY, Hall of Fame, ...) and tables with over-reaching data (such as "games with most wins"). Lordtobi (✉) 15:30, 16 January 2019 (UTC)
Discontinued Category Articles
[edit]I've been contemplating on whether I should create articles for discontinued categories that weren't renamed, separated or merged. Examples: Handheld Game of the Year, Outstanding Achievement in Gameplay Engineering, Outstanding Achievement in Visual Engineering, Outstanding Innovation in Gaming, Console Game of the Year, Computer Game of the Year, etc. MR.RockGamer17 (talk) 18:56, 7 January 2023 (UTC)
Timeline of discontinued categories
[edit]In the Award categories section, the description of discontinued categories is too repetitive, confusing with all these category names being so similar, too much text in bold .... I think all this could be improved if we add a timeline with lines for each category, where they either converge or diverge through time and maybe grouped by colours for: Game of the Year categories, Craft Awards and Genre Awards. - I simplified the award categories listing and just eliminated the summaries. MR.RockGamer17 (talk) 17:15, 4 December 2023 (UTC)
- That's great I think, thank you so much @MR.RockGamer17. I added a timeline very similar to what I was seeking. It explains all the previous repetitive text about discontinued, renamed and merged categories. However, I feel like a bit of text could be added next to the current awards list, just to have a balance and keep all the information clear for most readers. The history of awards is quite chaotic, so it's a challenge. Two other timelines for Craft awards and Genre Awards are in progress. Aarón Mayo (talk) 23:37, 5 January 2024 (UTC)
- I really like the chart there @Aarón Mayo. There is one major mistake you made: There was not a "Cellular Game of the Year" after the first "Portable Game of the Year". There was just "Handheld Game of the Year" and "Mobile Game of the Year'. You may have confused "Casual Game of the Year" (A Genre Award) for "Cellular Game of the Year". One minor mistake is "Interactive GOTY" should be "Interactive TOTY" (Title of the Year), but it is not that big of an issue. MR.RockGamer17 (talk) 14:38, 6 January 2024 (UTC)

- Hey @Aarón Mayo, you're missing a few discontinued categories: Soundtrack (2004-2011), Online Gameplay (2005-2013), and Connectivity (2012-2013). Also, the OA in Game Design was not offered from 2011 to 2014, and the way that you have the OA in Portable Game Design looks their was not an OA in Game Design in 2010. Other than that, great chart. - Thank you for letting me know, @MR.RockGamer17. Yes, I forgot some categories, since it's difficult to track all the awards and pack them in a single figure, which I'm not sure if it'll be possible for the other categories. All these errors were fixed and the next timelines are on the way.. Aarón Mayo (talk) 22:55, 25 January 2024 (UTC)
Voting Rules & Procedures
[edit]I want to expand "Format" section referring to the D.I.C.E. Awards Voting Rules & Procedures pages. [1] Maybe even refer to the Academy's full rules & procedures PDF. MR.RockGamer17 (talk) 19:42, 4 December 2023 (UTC)
Category Pages
[edit]Over the Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Video Games#On individual award pages and cats there is a discussion questioning if individual award pages should be deleted. Anyone seeing this should weigh in on the discussion. Use award ceremonies from other entertainment industries as a reference for any counter-argument. Original research concern in overall award tallys
[edit]While is reasonable that for a single year's DICE awards (or any other award) that it is fair to count the number of awards or nominations a specific game or a specific publisher has gotten - as this is something usually noted in coverage of the awards - the summary across all years is of concern, particularly when it comes to franchises and what's being called into those. For example, while we know titles like Call of Duty and Assassin's Creeds are franchises, the Lego or the Marvel games are not in that same boat , as that's just a brand label. That stuff is what fails simple calculations under WP:NOR policy. — Masem (t) 02:32, 3 April 2024 (UTC)
