Spoilers

[edit]

This article contains a lot of information that you don't even find out at the ending of the game, but in the sequels! This should absolutely be deleted! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 178.190.198.146 (talk) 22:43, 21 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I found these too! After having completed the first Assassin's Creed game, I thought I would just double over the plot line again to see it as an overview... However I saw lots of references to plot details that occur in later games in the series. The plot section for this article should be limited to what the player learns during its story only. If others feel that plot details from future games should be included to where they fit in the first Assassin's Creed game's storyline, I think they should at least be marked out in a separate subsection. The flow and readability of the article would not be damaged in my opinion; also, the plot is simple enough to do this without confusion to the reader. Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to one external link on Assassin's Creed (video game). Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether. Achievements

[edit]

Add achievements/trophies for games. Like this game doesn't have achievements for ubisoft/steam or trophies for ps3. But on Xbox 360, it does have achievements for it. 208.54.173.38 (talk) 19:51, 31 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I like the idea of this suggestion and was planning to implement it as part of my class project, however, I'm not sure it fits this article. Per "What Wikipedia Is Not", if the achievements are essential to understanding the game, then it would be okay to add a list of them. I do think a list of the achievements would be beneficial here because they could help the player understand they have a reason to collect the flags located in every city, or offer insight to certain parts of the game. Also, since the achievements are only on the Xbox 360, I think they should be added here to be specific about what consoles have achievements and which don't. I'm here for a class project and was wondering if adding links for each soundtrack would be good? There's an official playlist on YouTube from Ubisoft Music that either could be referenced, or each soundtrack can be linked to each individual video. Ideally, the links would be on the song's name, but an idea could also be on the song's length so the title's wouldn't look too obstructed(?). Lnbean (talk) 22:24, 24 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Lnbean. Thank you for you interesting in making improvements to the article. The first thing to address is that this talk page is specifically for the first game in the series; any future points that seek to cover the wider series can and should be made on the talk page for the article about the wider series, here. That said, this page is fine for now.
Now, onto your suggestion. There is nothing wrong with including information about this (and other AC games') soundtracks within the articles per se, but such references would and should be notable enough to warrant inclusion. Of the top of my head, the various games' soundtracks, whilst certainly engaging (and for my part, some personal favourites), do not really stand out as newsworthing in and of themselves. There are certainly references to AC's music within reliable sources (see 'Jesper Kyd composed Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s soundtrack using 100-year-old instruments') which probably warrant inclusion within the Development section of the appropriate article, but I wouldn't think linking to the official playlists meets the article's needs.
These are just my thoughts, there are other interested users who probably have thoughts to share on the matter. -- JascaDucato (talk | contributions) 11:06, 25 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I do only mean the soundtracks for this game. As someone who does look up game music from time to time, having a link to the song under the "Music" section would be nice. Or something like "The official playlist can be found here." I just mention the official playlist (for this game) because it's official (reliable source) and it would be easy to link each song to each video. I'm just trying to find ways to edit and improve articles that I'm interested in for my class! Lnbean (talk) 15:29, 27 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

DLC and Weapons Sections

[edit]

Would like to add a section titled DLC (with a better name) and mention the game has none, but does have the Director's Cut edition. Focus would be on the main game and the section would talk about the differences between the two games. As a big fan of the series, I never knew about this edition (or I forgot). Thoughts?
Edit: Just realized there's no article for the DC edition?
Edit 2: Perhaps also a section for weapons? I know that can lean more toward a game guide, but there is no mention of assassins cutting their ring finger off which is significant to this game (and Bayek in Origins), nor how the cross bow is used in the trailer but the player does not get to use it. Another idea was a Trivia section for this information.
Edit 3: I see the Director's Cut is mentioned under the "Release" section. Still could rearrange but it's good how it is now.Lnbean (talk) 16:15, 2 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I suspect the reason this information isn't already included (in an article for a game that is 12 years old) is because it fails to meet minimum notability requirements. The average reader isn't going to interested in such niche information. For those that are, the Fandom wikia will certainly contain the information you're talking about. -- JascaDucato (talk | contributions) 12:45, 3 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That makes sense, however, I do think the missing ring finger should be included somewhere as it is significant to this game and their promo art. I appreciate your feedback, it's been helpful Lnbean (talk) 15:42, 3 November 2024 (UTC)![reply]
If you believe so, and you can find an adequately reliable source on the subject, you can certainly add the information to the article. The same goes for the DLC weapons (and even the soundtrack you questioned above). Just don't be surprised if another user disagrees and removes the information citing the reasons I gave, among others.
Ultimately, the purpose of a Wikipedia article is to educate the reader about the covered subject. If you think something should be covered, you are always welcome to add it to the article yourself. If others disagree with the addition, then discussing it on the talk page to understand why is the next step. -- JascaDucato (talk | contributions) 16:47, 4 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
