Women in Red is hosting a virtual editathon from October 1 to 31, 2017 on Women from the Nordic countries, providing an opportunity for you to create or improve articles on women who are notable in various fields of endeavor. The Nordic countries are Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden, as well as associated territories of Greenland, the Faroe Islands and the Åland Islands. The virtual edit-a-thon allows enthusiasts from around the globe to participate in the work.

- This essay on creating women's biographies might be helpful to newer editors.
- The main goals of the event are:

- to draw the attention of more experienced editors to the need for concerted action on a specific area
- to support Wikipedia in combating the systemic bias against the coverage of women and women's works
- to promote the new/improved articles and images through social media (Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter)
