Draft:Bret Victor

I, Tophtucker, request the undeletion of this Articles for creation submission deleted under CSD G13. Please restore the page as I intend to work on it. Tophtucker (talk) 04:03, 12 May 2015 (UTC)

  • Tophtucker: On a side note, the last paragraph is a fairly large quotefarm. You should probably try to make this flow a little better since this can come across as somewhat promotional for Victor. Another thing to note is that Victor speaking in various venues does not automatically make him notable and these are not counted towards notability. It can make it more likely that coverage exists, but speaking at any event (public or private) is not something that gives notability per Wikipedia's guidelines. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 08:51, 12 May 2015 (UTC)
  • Thanks Tokyogirl79, that's good feedback. I'll revisit the notability guidelines. I want to improve the article but am not sure how to proceed; are Google Scholar citations valuable? He's a titan in my somewhat niche field and a good ways beyond, but it's clear that he is far less well-known in more mainstream circles. He's also the sort of person whose influence may dawn on the world gradually, and maybe Wikipedia isn't the place for biographies of those who will be notable, as per "not a crystal ball" etc. But I'm still convinced he's notable today. I don't know, I'll give it one more pass. It does feel sycophantic to write an article about someone I admire because I admire them, but I think Wikipedia would benefit from its inclusion. Tophtucker (talk) 14:20, 13 May 2015 (UTC)
  • Tophtucker: They can help if he's extensively listed as a citation, but they have to be extensive and the citations shouldn't be done by people who are strongly affiliated with him. Stanley Salmons is a good example of someone whose article was partially salvaged from AfD because of the citations. However be careful of Google Scholar since sometimes they're a bit liberal in who they'll include. There are a lot of "ifs" and "buts" when it comes to trying to establish notability via citations and it's probably one of the hardest ways to try to assert notability, to be honest. • Done This was deleted by DragonflySixtyseven as notability not asserted. There was no speedy tag attached to the article, so I'm going to treat this like it was a WP:PROD. The article does have a bit of an issue with phrasing and grammar, so I'm going to move it to the draftspace at Draft:Naseer Soomro. I would recommend that since there is a language barrier here and the assertions of notability aren't the strongest, that you submit this to WP:AfC when you are done so it can be looked at by other editors. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 17:45, 14 May 2015 (UTC)

Esteban Diaz

Page is of a Dota 2 player. Other gamers have pages, and I feel this should be no different. Thank you. -DanielMcCx (talk) 15:38, 14 May 2015 (UTC)

Note: The page was deleted under speedy deletion criterion A7, indicating an article that did not explain or prove why the subject was notable. A7 deletions are not overturned here; try contacting the deleting administrator (CambridgeBayWeather (talk · contribs)) instead. Arguing for retention based on the presence of similar articles is a waste of time; all pages need to adhere to the guidelines set out in WP:Notability. —Jeremy v^_^v Bori! 17:29, 14 May 2015 (UTC)
  • Not done It's extremely hard for gamers to achieve notability on Wikipedia because most of the time they do not gain coverage in reliable sources. I'd even go so far as to say that some of the gamers on here that do have articles probably fail notability guidelines and just haven't been nominated yet so saying that other stuff exists isn't a good argument. Those pages may pass notability guidelines in a way Diaz does not or they might not have been deleted just yet. As an example of how hard it is to pass GNG, Cryaotic doesn't pass notability guidelines despite being extremely popular and being associated with PewDiePie. The same can be said for people who aren't LPers and just play on the professional level. Unless you can show coverage that would assert enough notability to overturn an A7, this is unlikely to be restored. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 17:51, 14 May 2015 (UTC)

Article was deleted claiming he was 'little known". He is one of the main anchors for CTV Atlantic and thus is broadcast to 4 Canadian provinces daily as well as across Canada online and with digital cable/satellite. He is also a producer for "Live At 5". And is involved in several charities. He is an anchor on the weekend evening & late night news, as well as the weekdays from 5-7PM & late night. -21:07, 14 May 2015 (UTC)Lady Noremon (talk)

@Lady Noremon: Not done - this Requests for Undeletion process is only for articles that were deleted uncontroversially, and does not apply to articles deleted after a deletion discussion. Since the article you are here about was deleted after a discussion took place at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Bruce Frisko, it cannot be undeleted through this process. However, if you believe that the outcome of the discussion did not reflect the consensus of the participants, or that significant new information has come to light since the article was deleted, you may contact the administrator who closed the discussion, user Joe Decker (talk · contribs). Tanner Fresh

RichardAlexander22 (talk) 19:20, 15 May 2015 (UTC) 1=Tanner Fresh 2=The page is about a notable Canadian artist who has worked with many other notable artists in the Canadian music industry. The Canadian industry is a small tight-knit community and I think Tanner is a key member of that. In addition, the Tanner Fresh page was published in 2013 and was patrolled for over two years by various wiki members (who gave it the thumbs up of approval) before being wrongfully flagged for deletion. The artist has supporting links from many sources, although they occasionally refer to him as Tanner Fetch, Invincible, or Fresh City (some of his former names). Although rebranding and changing names can confuse people (see the Tanner Fresh AFD disucssion) it shouldn't completely rule out his authenticity and notability because he is referred to by different names. Please undelete this page as per my request.--RichardAlexander22 (talk) 19:23, 15 May 2015 (UTC)

  • The page looked very much like a CV for a job application. It used all sorts of peacock terms (like top, internationally regarding, knowledge source, leading, broad experience, expertise) to make the person sound good. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 23:13, 15 May 2015 (UTC)
  • Unless either User:De728631 or User:RHaworth is willing to restore the content, I don't think that you're going to find anyone here that will. The page is very, very promotional and would need almost a complete and total re-write to meet Wikipedia's WP:NPOV policy. This is one of those instances where starting from scratch would likely be better than restoring the article. You need to be very careful about marketing speak since you work in a marketing crew, as this is a pretty common issue with PR editors. You're so used to writing things with promotional overtones that you don't pick up on what is promotional. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 05:37, 16 May 2015 (UTC)

Kashi Samaddar is an important person for World Travel & Tourism sector and worked for large number of people and also the - First person visited all Countries, Kosovo 27th May 2008 & South Sudan 09th July 2011, recognized-. The wikipedia article on him has been kept improper long with wrong insertions (Appears intentional, may be some do not like his massive achievements as a Developing World Traveler facing Visa discrimination or a direct competitor on different name within Wikipedia), probably that he worked for - Equal Visa- without which International Travel is not possible. He is not against anybody and a friend of all.

I request Administrators of Wikipedia to give me a chance to trace, collate important links, edit and support me technically as I am not expert yet. Regards--Editwikigu (talk) 04:28, 16 May 2015 (UTC)

  • Not done Editwikigu, This is up for AfD at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Kashi Samaddar (2nd nomination). AfDs typically last around a week, so that should give you plenty of time to find and supply sourcing. However I do need to warn you that your statements accusing others of impropriety comes across as an WP:ADHOMINEM attack against other editors. It's more likely that any removal of content was done because it was unsourced, promotional, or violated one of Wikipedia's policies. Also, please be aware that traveling all over the world and working for many people doesn't automatically mean that Samaddar is notable. You have to show his notability via sources that are independent of Samaddar or anyone affiliated with him (friends, relatives, employers, etc) and are in places that Wikipedia would consider reliable. Just saying that he's notable isn't enough: you have to provide the sourcing to back this up. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 05:32, 16 May 2015 (UTC)
  • Also, please be aware that posting here about this article does absolutely nothing. Even if the AfD was closed and the article deleted, this page cannot restore articles deleted through AfD. The only place to argue for notability is the AfD page. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 05:41, 16 May 2015 (UTC)

  • @Infovalley: This is pretty much a personal essay and would need to be re-written almost entirely to meet basic NPOV guidelines. I'm also concerned that it's somewhat redundant to Forensic radiology since a digital autopsy would fall within these guidelines. I'd almost recommend that you just work on fleshing out that article since it's already pretty small. However I do need to warn you that Wikipedia articles should be written like an encyclopedia article and not a personal essay or journal entry. There is an entire world of difference between the two, akin to how there is a world of difference between an academic textbook and a novel. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 05:00, 18 May 2015 (UTC)

  • This has some serious issues with tone, to the point where it's almost too promotional to restore. Phrases like "During this time, Peter Gallway's passion for music never skipped a beat." are just very, very promotional and even at it's most neutral this reads like something from a fan page. It'd pretty much need to be completely re-written so it may be easier to just start from scratch. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 05:06, 18 May 2015 (UTC)

Cha Hakyeon

This article was deleted as per speedy deletion criterion G4. Recreation of a page that was deleted per a deletion discussion. The previous deletion discussion stated that, "I don't see any reason why this person should be notable outside of his own band, VIXX; the only thing he seems to have done by himself is be on TV a few times and guest in a video clip or two." However, this is not the case anymore. First and foremost, he has had the most activities out of all VIXX band members. Also, this statement was made on January 23, 2015. From then on until now, however, Cha Hakyeon has done a lot more. He has been in dramas, a regular cast member of different variety shows, a permanent guest in a radio show, a regular MC in music shows, a DJ of his own radio show and more. All of these clearly negate the "the only thing he seems to have done by himself is be on TV a few times and guest in a video clip or two" claim that was made in the statement above. The claim might have been true then, but it is not applicable anymore now. And as mentioned under G4, "This excludes pages that are not substantially identical to the deleted version, pages to which the reason for the deletion no longer applies." As the reason for deletion no longer applies, this article should not have been deleted. So I would like to request for undeletion of this article. Thank you. -121.54.44.89 (talk) 13:11, 18 May 2015 (UTC)

The attempt to delete her has been tried before and it is clear that it is a political opponent or those who detest her work as a feminist. The page in fact says very little of the hard work and continuous effort she has made to fight injustice not just in London but nationally and internationally. Your wrong and yes people across the country know of her work especially in the Left movements. She has been a prominent figure and notable in Tower Hamlets and Bangladeshi community Judge at Jack Petchey Award. She is regularly asked to participate in TV, radio discussion including BBC alongside MPs and other notable figures. The fact that she was one of the very few female BME politicians who has inspired many and continues to do so should make her notable. Her tireless work to end inequality for women should make her notableUK Feminsta support Fawcett Society and many other notable women's right organisations have valued her hard work. She has also spoken on national and international platforms for climate change Climate change conference fronton 60,000 people. Although not in office she is regularly invited to speak on such issues. If you delete her surely politicians such as Shiria Khatun should be deleted or is it because their is political bias that she is not and if it is a question of whether one is currently a representative then sure ex-Tory [Anwara Ali] should be deleted??? -Pinky36 (talk) 09:31, 20 May 2015 (UTC)

Greg Di Gesu is a notable and long-standing musician and song engineer worthy of a Wikipedia page, based on significant coverage of him from independent sources, and I would like to have the opportunity to demonstrate this by continuing to edit the page for him and allowing other users to do the same.Mer smith13 (talk) 21:02, 20 May 2015 (UTC)

PLEASE READ ALL OF MY EXHAUSTIVE APPEALS (SHOULD THIS BE ADDRESSED TO JJ?)

I FIRMLY BELIEVE THIS ARTICLE WAS DELETED IN ERROR. 1) NO Copyright infringements 2)

a -- we have permission to use the NY DAILY News link as an external link
b -- there was not text or data copied or pasted

3) THIS ARTICLE WAS NOT WRITTEN TO PROMOTE OR ADVERTISE. FILMMAKERS SUCH AS FRANK WHALEY, BILLIE JOE ARMSTRONG, SKEET ULRICH, CATHY MORIARTY , ETC. have been notified about the wiki article --which was "live" for 3-4 days.

finally, please reverse your ruling

Note: The page was deleted under speedy deletion criterion A7, indicating an article that did not explain or prove why the subject was notable. A7 deletions are not overturned here; try contacting the deleting administrator (Chrislk02 (talk · contribs)) instead. The article - or at least, the sole deleted incarnation I see on your talk page - was not deleted for copyright infringement, and the one that was flagged as a copyvio (Williamsburg independent film festival was copied and pasted from the film festival's website and the NYTimes source. There is a difference between citing a source and plagiarising it. Secondly, the above bluelinked article was also deleted under G11 (overly promotional) and cannot be restored here. Third, I am of the impression that you have a connection to the festival and should not be editing it under any circumstance. Lastly, I will be sending off an email to oversighters to suppress the bluelinked article above due to the fact you posted your phone number on it. —Jeremy v^_^v Bori! 04:08, 21 May 2015 (UTC)
  • Not done If you do own the rights to the text you can file permissions through WP:ORTS, but even then the material must be neutrally written- which the material at Williamsburg independent film festival was not. Secondly, it's unlikely that the filmmakers will do anything about the article being deleted from Wikipedia and even if they did, it'd have to be something that would grab media attention since the article would still fail notability guidelines without enough substantial, in-depth coverage from reliable, secondary sources. I've salted both locations in order to prevent re-creation before issues of notability and promotional tone have been dealt with. The best option for you right now, if you want to re-create the article, is to go through WP:AfC and write the article in your own words in a neutral manner and to show notability via coverage in secondary, reliable sources per WP:RS. Or please userfy to my namespace and I'll put it though AfC.

  • @Aronzak: I'm somewhat hesitant to restore this "as is" since it has some pretty promotional/non-neutral overtones to it like "first entered the public eye". It also feels like it was either taken directly from another site word for word or was closely paraphrased from that material ala WP:COPYVIO. I can e-mail this to you, but I'd rather not restore it and that you write a new article from scratch. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 08:16, 21 May 2015 (UTC)

Not done. The page was deleted in August 2014 (before October) due to unambiguous advertising and promotion. The deletion had nothing to do with the existence of an external website. Please talk to the deleting administrator RHaworth about restoring it. ~Amatulić (talk) 18:21, 21 May 2015 (UTC)

MYMobile Security

I want to contest this deletion due to the following relevant fact that all similar companies have similar pages to this one, in no case is this spam or marketing is pure information about the company and the services with references to achievements, prizes etc. This company can be found in many references throughout the media (newspapers, TV magazines) world wide so I can’t understand the spam reference to it. There are also references to this company on some relevant pages on Wikipedia such as: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_antivirus_software

List of similar Wikipedia pages not added to spam: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F-Secure https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AVG_(software) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avast

Kindly appreciate your positive review and to leave this page up since it has relevant information regarding relevant subjects, companies, prizes and products. 1. This is a company Part of Gartner Magic quadrant 2. Listed in Red Herring 100 Europe Award 3. Airbnb Innovation Prize winner for Antoni Gaudi Casa Batllo building application 4. VPN service provider for WiFi security 5. Mobile Anti virus provider 6. Parental Control provider

I would kindly appreciate your input on how to improve this page to your standards, my intention is to have a relevant page informing about a company which has been, during this year, mentioned in the press online and offline all over the world. And not to create any kind of marketing page or advertisement.

Looking forward to hear from you soon

Not done. @JoaoPMatos:, see WP:OTHERSTUFF. The fact that other articles may or may not exist has no bearing on a deletion decision. Each article stands or falls on its own merits. In the case of MYMobile Security, it was deleted twice in accordance with WP:CSD#A7 by administrators Deb and RHaworth because the article failed to assert any claim of significance. The most recent deletion was in accordance with WP:CSD#G11 by Jimfbleak for unambiguous advertising; that is, it was clear that the page was created purely for publicity purposes. For both those reasons, the article is ineligible for restoration by request here. Talk to the most recent deleting administrator about getting it restored.
Because you seem to be associated with the subject, you should not be writing articles in main article space anyway. Wikipedia:Articles for creation is really the best venue for someone with a WP:Conflict of interest. ~Amatulić (talk) 18:27, 21 May 2015 (UTC)

Done - as a contested proposed deletion, the article has been restored on request. The reason given was "Mentioned in a few local media articles about fast growing companies, but not significant coverage (many of the refs are press releases and similar types of links that don't meet WP:RS. Will be sent to AfD if disputed". So to address that please find more independent sources with significant coverage. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 00:09, 22 May 2015 (UTC)

Daniel Genis

Daniel Genis is a well known writer and journalist. He also did ten years in prison. An entire episode of Terry Gross's Fresh Air [1] was recently devoted to him and there have been many profiles of the author[2], [3], [4], [5], [6], [7]. -Burton1978 (talk) 12:02, 22 May 2015 (UTC)

He has a six figure book deal with Penguin, for a memoir due out in 2016[8], a biweekly column at Vice [9] (where he was an employee of the month and was drawn into a caricature [10]), a monthly op-ed at the New York Daily News [11], and has appeared on a panel for the Huffington Post [12] after his Deadspin article A Gentlemans Guide to Sex-in-Prison went viral with 855,000 hits.

He is also the son of famous Russian public intellectual Alexander Genis. I cannot understand why he was deleted in the first place, and when I looked at the discussion there was some nonsense about his friends writing about him. His friends are in prison; he's only been out a year and change. The New Yorker profiler makes it clear that he just met him, and I doubt Terry Gross is his friend. It's just odd that a man with 75 publications[13] in many languages isn't notable, and then right below is Tim Genis, who plays symbols.

This guy is a bit arrogant and difficult to work with, but he has flown to the top of this industry with amazing speed and everyone is waiting for his potential. And if you knew what I know about who bought his options, you would see stars... the Hollywood kind. Burton1978 (talk) 12:02, 22 May 2015 (UTC)Burton

  • Not done - this Requests for Undeletion process is only for articles that were deleted uncontroversially, and does not apply to articles deleted after a deletion discussion. Since the article you are here about was deleted after a discussion took place at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Daniel Genis, it cannot be undeleted through this process. However, if you believe that the outcome of the discussion did not reflect the consensus of the participants, or that significant new information has come to light since the article was deleted, you may contact the administrator who closed the discussion, user MBisanz (talk · contribs).
