[edit]Correct the reference of Sandy Neilson
[edit]I need help for Sandy Neilson for her reference of Olympedia. Can you fix the right correction. 100.2.114.167 (talk) 02:36, 27 January 2023 (UTC)
- Done! Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 03:29, 27 January 2023 (UTC)
help me
[edit]Please help me with... in the article Conversion of non-Hindu places of worship into temples, the first reference itself is contradicting what is written in this article and the example of Durga temple in Aihole, India is contradictory to its own Wikipedia article. Trsuyash (talk) 06:17, 27 January 2023 (UTC)
- Hi Trsuyash. When you encounter issues like this, it's usually best to try and fix them yourself. When reverted, as happened to you, the next step is to bring the issue up for discussion at the article talk page, Talk:Conversion of non-Hindu places of worship into temples. Use WIkipedia content for my website
[edit]Hi, I would like to ask you if i am allowed to use wikipedia's content and images for my website. 2405:6E00:31E5:4F00:852B:192A:10C5:1336 (talk) 07:07, 27 January 2023 (UTC)
- See Wikipedia:Reusing Wikipedia content. The general answer is often yes, if you do it right. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 10:12, 27 January 2023 (UTC)
User blocked
[edit]Was it really necessary to block User:Anonymous Elementary Schooler for a name violation? The name looks fine to me. I don't know where else to ask this -- UAA doesn't seem quite right. David10244 (talk) 10:02, 27 January 2023 (UTC)
- David10244 I would first ask the blocking admin directly; if the answer is not adequate, the next forum would be WP:AN. It is curious that their TPA was removed but the block is only a soft block(the blocked person may create a new account). 331dot (talk) 10:06, 27 January 2023 (UTC)
- @331dot Yes, that TPA thing is odd. I'll ask the blocking admin. David10244 (talk) 10:09, 27 January 2023 (UTC)
- David10244 Assuming that "Elementary School" is what I'd call a primary school, this suggests that either a child has chosen a user name which unnecessarily reveals their age, or an adult is masquerading as a child. Either should raise a concern, although whether WP rules are broken is another thing. Bazza (talk) 10:11, 27 January 2023 (UTC)
- Exactly, that's what I'd have said as well. We routinely suppress identifying information about minors for their own protection (usually pointing them to Wikipedia:Guidance for younger editors). In this case, it's the username that identifies the user as a very young child – or, if it's not a child, it could be a predator – and, so, in my opinion, it's perfectly justifiable to block them without TPA, so that they absolutely cannot use their account and need to select a new one, hopefully one with a less identifying username... Salvio giuliano 10:15, 27 January 2023 (UTC)
- (edit conflict) I wouldn't question a softblock, TPA might have been a bit much unless something has been oversighted that I don't know about. The admin knows what they are doing, so a message is likely the best course of action. Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 10:18, 27 January 2023 (UTC)
- OK, thanks for all of the answers. I think the oldest elementary school kids (in the US) are about 10 years old, so that's kinda young to be revealing your age, even at the top end of elementary. David10244 (talk) 14:46, 27 January 2023 (UTC)
Account recovery
[edit]Hello,
I'm working with AB HISK https://lt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panevėžio_keliai (formerly known as AB Panevėžio keliai. Company losted logins in their account, so I can't update company name and logo. Can you help me? 188.69.139.167 (talk) 10:52, 27 January 2023 (UTC)
- That article is on the Lithuanian Wikipedia, so you'll need to ask there. This help desk is for the English Wikipedia. - David Biddulph (talk) 11:01, 27 January 2023 (UTC)
- But if lt Wikipedia works the same way as en Wikipedia, I can tell you that all logins are individual, so you should not try to recover somebody else's login, but should create your own. You should also read lt:Vikipedija:Interesų konfliktas. ColinFine (talk) 13:20, 27 January 2023 (UTC)

how do i put a navbox in the middle of my user page?
[edit]I have been trying to put some custom navboxes in the upper portion of my user page, which would place them next to some userboxes which run down the right side of the page.
every time I try to do so, the navboxes seem to be automatically displayed below the userboxes. I tried changing the navboxes' width, but it didn't seem to help.
I placed the navboxes in a collapsible box, which does seem to work fine in displaying next to the stack of user boxes. however, is there a way to enable navboxes to be displayed next to user boxes? I appreciate any help. thanks! Sm8900 (talk) 13:09, 27 January 2023 (UTC)
Error message in a number of pages in Basque in wikipedia
[edit]The templates {{Cycling race/infobox|Qxxx}}
as well as {{Cycling race/generalclassification|Qxxxx}}
do not work since the end of last week.
They worked fine beforehand and they still do in other languages, but not in Basque.
Now this message error is displayed: "Luanda errorea in Modulu:Cycling_race at line 1980:attempt to index field 'BasqueTown' (a nil value)".
Some examples can be found in the Basque version of entries:
- 2022 Tour of the Basque Country
- Deutschland Tour
Any clues? Joseba65 (talk) 13:30, 27 January 2023 (UTC)
- Suggest you also post this at Village pump, on the "technical" tab. Sm8900 (talk) 13:38, 27 January 2023 (UTC)
- That's a question you'll need to ask at the Basque Wikipedia. This help page is for the English Wikipedia. Templates are maintained separately in each language's Wikipedia. As you will realise from the red links in your message, neither Template:Cycling race/infobox nor Template:Cycling race/generalclassification exist in the English Wikipedia. - David Biddulph (talk) 13:44, 27 January 2023 (UTC)
How to create a "reading list" and/or save Wikipedia articles - using the desktop application?
[edit]Hi I use WikiPedia on my phone and use the the "Save" article feature a lot. I also have created Reading Lists of articles, based on subject or topic. How do I do this on the web browser version of WikiPedia? I can't seem to find it. Thanks. AnnieMyco (talk) 16:29, 27 January 2023 (UTC)
- AnnieMyco The feature you describe is only available on the mobile version/app. You can bookmark articles in your browser on your end, but this will not carry over into the app(though it may carry over to the browser on your phone if it's the same as the one on your computer). 331dot (talk) 16:46, 27 January 2023 (UTC)
- @AnnieMyco: As far as I'm aware the mobile app is the only version that has reading lists. You could set up a watchlist and click on the near the top of a page to save it to the list. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 16:46, 27 January 2023 (UTC)
- Watchlisted articles will only show up in the list if edits are made to them. 331dot (talk) 16:48, 27 January 2023 (UTC)
- That isn't correct; the default page in the watchlist is for edits that have happened in a certain timespan, but clicking "View and edit watchlist" brings up the entire watchlist regardless of edit history in alphabetical order, separated by namespace. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 16:50, 27 January 2023 (UTC)
- Too bad! II LOVE that ability to organize my favorites. also, I have a "work" wikipedia profile and a "personal" profile, and the app is for my personal profile. Next question: How do I make a suggestion for the desktop version . AnnieMyco (talk) 16:58, 27 January 2023 (UTC)
- @AnnieMyco, you could make a proposal at the Community Wishlist Survey, here. 199.208.172.35 (talk) 17:51, 27 January 2023 (UTC)
- Ah, I was aware only that but didn't put two and two together. Thank you 331dot (talk) 17:49, 27 January 2023 (UTC)
- AnnieMyco, you can manually create User:AnnieMyco/Reading list and populate it with wikilinks to articles or any other pages. Cullen328 (talk) 19:19, 27 January 2023 (UTC)

How to attract Wikignomes?
[edit]Flexible Mechanisms needs tenses changed as the Kyoto Protocol has finished. Might the “cleanup” tag attract Wikignomes or is there a better way do you know? Chidgk1 (talk) 19:10, 27 January 2023 (UTC)
- Oops sorry I just read that even though Kyoto has finished they won’t finish cleaning up the mess until 2025. Chidgk1 (talk) 19:18, 27 January 2023 (UTC)
