Your GA nomination of Avengers (Marvel Cinematic Universe)
Hi there, I'm pleased to inform you that I've begun reviewing the article Avengers (Marvel Cinematic Universe) you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria. This process may take up to 7 days. Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you might have during this period. Message delivered by ChristieBot, on behalf of BigLordFlash -- BigLordFlash (talk) 16:43, 1 January 2024 (UTC)
Your GA nomination of Avengers (Marvel Cinematic Universe)
The article Avengers (Marvel Cinematic Universe) you nominated as a good article has passed ; see Talk:Avengers (Marvel Cinematic Universe) for comments about the article, and Talk:Avengers (Marvel Cinematic Universe)/GA2 for the nomination. Well done! If the article has never appeared on the Main Page as a "Did you know" item, and has not appeared within the last year either as "Today's featured article", or as a bold link under "In the news" or in the "On this day" prose section, you can nominate it within the next seven days to appear at DYK. Bolded names with dates listed at the bottom of the "On this day" column do not affect DYK eligibility. FATWS GAN
Hey @ZooBlazer! It's been a while since we've last talked but first of all, I hope you're doing well this year. I was interested in seeing what the progress was on the FATWS articles and what the game plan will be. I think as of now, it's reasonable to expect that we'll do it by each episode right? I remember editing the first episode earlier in the year and doing some decent improvement on it, and THINK that it is ready for a GAN, but am not sure. I'll defer it over to you on that one.
PS: It sucks that the Avengers and IW/EG production GAN is taking SO long, in addition to Shang-Chi lol. Dcdiehardfan (talk) 02:39, 31 December 2023 (UTC)
- @Dcdiehardfan I've been pretty good, hope things have been good for you too. I'm pretty sure the plan is episodes first, then the main article for the series. I think Adam was going to look over the episode articles if I remember correctly, but I'm not sure if he ever had a chance, so it's probably best to check with him to see if he has any additional info that needs added.
- As for the GANs, yeah it's rough. It takes a lot of patience sometimes... the Shang-Chi article was at one point under review, but the reviewer abandoned it before ever doing anything, so it had to go back on to the GAN list unfortunately. -- ZooBlazer 02:46, 31 December 2023 (UTC)
- @Dcdiehardfan Also, not sure if you saw, but Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase One was also nominated for GA a couple months ago thanks to you adding the final piece in terms of some reception. If that passes, then that article as well as the movies can be nominated for a Good Topic like WandaVision currently is.
- Originally I wanted the two Avengers articles to pass their GA reviews ASAP because I want to make the Avengers into a Good Topic. At the time those were the final two articles likely needed, but since then I created Avengers assemble scene and that'll need to also be promoted to GA eventually before the Good Topic. I haven't worked on the article in a couple months because I've struggled to find reception info to add before it can be nominated. I think there are still some unused potential refs on the article, but I haven't gone through them to see if they have any useful info.
- Then once the Avengers are nominated/promoted to GT, my next plan is to get all the involved articles, or at least the 4 movies, promoted to FA so the topic becomes a Featured Topic. Sorry for the long message lol. -- ZooBlazer 03:14, 31 December 2023 (UTC)
- @ZooBlazer I'm glad to hear you're doing well! Yea, I think it makes sense the episodes should come first, it's more easier that way. I also remember that Adamstom wanted to do a look-thru of the whole article but am not sure if he ever got around to it. I'll prolly ping him back soon as I have noticed he was a bit active recently. Yea, the GANs defo does require a lot of patience. I guess the silver lining is that there's more time to improve it beforehand and you can also prep other articles in the meantime. Hopefully it'll start very soon, worst case scenario I think is that it could maybe be done in the August Backlog Drive, which would suck, but that's only if the worst comes to the worst I guess, idk.
- I did notice that you have nominated Phase 1 for GAN, congrats on that and I'm glad to help. I'll take a look at the Avengers assemble scene, also noticed the creation of that article and add onto it. It should definitely be easy to find Reception info as it's of course considered one of the most iconic scenes in the MCU. I'm not sure if I can find any articles centered around specific scenes so I don't have any particular precedent, as I feel like the lead perhaps could have another Para explaining a bit of the background and writing and all that.
- Sounds like a good game plan and don't worry about it lol. Either way, I'll try to work on other MCU articles, such as sprucing up Loki S2. I'll consult with Adamstom in a bit about FATWS tho, and hopefully you'll be able to join in on that discussion. Dcdiehardfan (talk) 18:47, 31 December 2023 (UTC)
- @Dcdiehardfan There are articles about the specific big scenes sort of usually. A lot of them are just ranking the best MCU scenes and things like that, which isn't ideal, but some of them have useful info that can maybe be used for reception or elsewhere. Endgame reviews are also not useful which is a bummer, because they don't mention the scene at all due to spoilers at the time. And yes, the lead will definitely need expanded, but it may be best to wait until the sections of the article have a good amount of info since that'll help with what to add in the lead. -- ZooBlazer 21:22, 31 December 2023 (UTC)
- @ZooBlazer Yea, you're probably right. The only article I could look to for precedent was the BR monologue but I think the Avengers article is superior. Nevertheless, I did do some searching and managed to find some decent sources that I think can decently expand reception. In the meantime, I'll assist in expanding the lead so that's one less task to worry about. Dcdiehardfan (talk) 02:21, 1 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Dcdiehardfan Sounds great. The next thing I need to do is add/clean up the What If season 2 info for the Avengers article in the off chance the GA review finally starts. -- ZooBlazer 02:46, 1 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Dcdiehardfan Hey, do you have a little time to do a c/e of the season 2 What If info on the Avengers article? I'm going to address the other GAN stuff. I added a ref for the 1602 episode but I don't think there is any info for it yet on the article. -- ZooBlazer 18:45, 1 January 2024 (UTC)
- @ZooBlazer Yea, I'll take a look at it. I added in another review to the Avengers assemble scene. I was wondering how long do you think that article's reception section should be or if it's the ideal length now. Dcdiehardfan (talk) 03:57, 2 January 2024 (UTC)
- @ZooBlazer My goodness, I didn't even realize the Avengers MCU article had already undergone the GAR, that was a pleasant surprise today haha. Either way, I tossed my hat into the wring and did CE all across the article so I think it should be good. Dcdiehardfan (talk) 04:26, 2 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Dcdiehardfan I don't think there is a set length we should go for. Mostly just focus on adding any info we can to the section. If we can't find additional info, then the length is what it is. Thanks for adding to the reception. -- ZooBlazer 04:33, 2 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Dcdiehardfan With that said, if we can find like 2 more sources of info, then I think that would be ideal. -- ZooBlazer 04:56, 2 January 2024 (UTC)

@Dcdiehardfan Do you have any DYK suggestions? I have 2 potential ideas so far. One about the franchise's box office standings and one involving Avengers Campus, but I'm open to 1 or 2 more if you have any ideas. -- ZooBlazer 18:55, 2 January 2024 (UTC)
- @ZooBlazer First of all, congrats on getting the GA on the Avengers one. I think those are some pretty good ideas. One idea I had would be saying something along the lines of
DYK...prior to being cast as Black Widow in the Avengers, Scarlett Johansson also prepared for other Marvel characters, such as the Wasp and Blonde Phantom
, or something about how Marvel Studios initially opposed RDJ for Iron Man, or talk about how Marvel Studios negotiated with the WGA in the 2007-8 strike to get the ability to write a film based on the [insert article] characters or something. Dcdiehardfan (talk) 01:30, 3 January 2024 (UTC)- @Dcdiehardfan Thanks! One Avengers article down and still at least 2 more to go for the GT. I was thinking about doing things like that, but I was trying to avoid singling out one character or movie, which is why it's been tougher to find good options compared to other articles. Mostly I feel like single character hooks fit better for those character articles, and same goes for individual movie hooks. Although maybe we can make something work in regards to the WGA strike if we involve multiple members of the team.
- I didn't realize how tough it would be for the whole team related ideas lol. -- ZooBlazer 01:37, 3 January 2024 (UTC)
- @ZooBlazer Indeed. Hopefully the Prod article gets picked up soon, I'll also be a GA Hawk on that one. I also thought that too but it really is hard to find something for the whole time, for sure lol. I actually have another idea, we could perhaps do one regarding the "Avengers: Some Assembly Required" thing Joss Whedon did but I guess you have to make sure it goes back to the actual article subject. Perhaps the hook could read as
DYK...after Joss Whedon rejected Zak Penn's original script for an Avengers film for not having enough character connection, Whedon wrote his own using the humorous tagline "Avengers: Some Assembly Required"
. The other approach I think could be to get something from the comic book differences section as that makes the connection clear-cut, but that's too boring. I'm genuinely at a loss here...hmm... Dcdiehardfan (talk) 02:44, 3 January 2024 (UTC)- @Dcdiehardfan There's some early rumblings of a GA backlog drive for February, so hopefully the production article gets picked up then if not before. Also gonna try to get the assemble scene nominated in the next week or so to have it ready for the backlog drive. It'll for sure be a group effort for the production article once the review starts since it has multiple significant contributors. Hopefully a good reviewer picks it up and is thorough so it'll be in better shape towards a potential FA nom down the line.
- I ended up creating the DYK nom already and also gave you credit for it as the GA co-nominator. If none of those hooks pass, I'll try some of the ones you just suggested. -- ZooBlazer 02:57, 3 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Dcdiehardfan I think in regards to the Assemble scene, one more paragraph in reception and then a full page c/e, including expanding the lead if necessary is all that's really needed before a GAN. Maybe see if any of the talk page ref ideas can be incorporated as well, but I don't think those are absolutely required at the moment. -- ZooBlazer 04:17, 3 January 2024 (UTC)
- @Dcdiehardfan Alright, I've used all of the refs that I had saved that could be used in the reception. I think pretty much all that's left is to expand the lead if possible and a full page c/e to make sure everything is organized neatly in each section. -- ZooBlazer 00:55, 6 January 2024 (UTC)
- @ZooBlazer Thanks for the co-nom credit. Sorry I haven't been getting back to you as punctually. I'll take another quick look at the Avengers assemble scene and do a CE before it undergoes the GAR. That's good you could flesh out Reception a bit more and I'll see what's left to do. Dcdiehardfan (talk) 18:46, 7 January 2024 (UTC)

Hello! I feel a bit awkward asking this given my message is of a similar nature to the above but here it goes. I am incredibly grateful for your contributions and help in getting House of Ashes to GA status. We both expressed interest before in possibly taking it to FAC - back when we were discussing how to create the reception section, I believe? I wanted to do an interest check to see if you're looking at giving it a shot in the near future. You totally don't have to do it if you're busy with other onwiki or offwiki stuff. Thank you! - @Your Power For sure I'm still interested. It's actually crazy timing that you bring this us because I just started thinking about restarting my plans on getting the other games to GA yesterday. Been working on other Good/Featured Topics and still want to make the Dark Pictures one eventually.
- I have other FAC plans, but no experience with FAC, so this would be a good learning experience for me. -- ZooBlazer 00:34, 10 January 2024 (UTC)

- @BuySomeApples: Thanks for the review. Do you have a suggestion of where to place the "Earth's Mightiest Heroes" part into the body of the article? I have refs for it, but I'm not sure where it fits the most naturally. -- ZooBlazer 06:06, 21 January 2024 (UTC)

AfC notification: Draft:The Dark Pictures Anthology: Directive 8020 has a new comment
- @1AmNobody24 I didn't do an AfC for the article. It shouldn't be moved to the mainspace until there is actual information released for the game. -- ZooBlazer 08:21, 24 January 2024 (UTC)
- I know you didn't, but someone else did create a seperate draft at Draft:Directive 8020. Can i take it that you don't agree with my acceptance of that draft? Nobody (talk) 08:48, 24 January 2024 (UTC)
- @1AmNobody24 I do not agree with the acceptance. Directive 8020 is now a redirect to the properly named draft, which has been around since March. The article doesn't pass WP:GNG at the moment as the only info about the game is a teaser trailer from 2022. -- ZooBlazer 08:52, 24 January 2024 (UTC)
- I can use the page swap tool, so when the draft moves to the mainspace, the redirect will be properly used, similar to how House of Ashes redirects to The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes. -- ZooBlazer 08:54, 24 January 2024 (UTC)
- I assume the GNG part you think it doesn't pass is Significant coverage. If it's that, then I can agree with you. I was on the fence about whether it passed Significant coverage but decided that it was enough for a Stub. But that's, of course, debatable. Nobody (talk) 09:00, 24 January 2024 (UTC)
- @1AmNobody24 As much as I'd like for the article to finally be in the mainspace, we should probably wait until Supermassive Games at least acknowledges its existence. The teaser trailer was released at the end of the previous game and since then it's been radio silence, although it is assumed the game will release around October or November, so hopefully some new info in the coming months. -- ZooBlazer 09:07, 24 January 2024 (UTC)
- That sounds good. Sooner or later, Supermassive Games will probably announce it, so it's better to wait till then. Nobody (talk) 09:19, 24 January 2024 (UTC)

The first round of the 2024 WikiCup ended at 23:59 (UTC) on 27 February. Everyone with at least 30 points moved on to Round 2, the highest number of points required to advance to the second round since 2014. Due to a six-way tie for the 64th-place spot, 67 contestants have qualified for Round 2.
The following scorers in Round 1 all scored more than 300 points:
- Generalissima (submissions), who has 916 points mostly from one FA on John Littlejohn (preacher), 15 GAs, and 16 DYKs on a variety of topics including New Zealand coinage and Inuit figures, in addition to seven reviews
- Vami_IV (submissions), who has 790 points from two FAs on Felix M. Warburg House and Doom (2016 video game), two GAs, one DYK, and 11 reviews

- MaranoFan (submissions), who has 351 points from one FA on Holidays (Meghan Trainor song), a nine-article FT on 30 (album), and three DYKs
- Skyshifter (submissions), who has 345 points from one FA on OneShot, one DYK and two reviews
In this newsletter, the judges would like to pay a special tribute to Vami_IV (submissions), who unfortunately passed away this February. At the time of his death, he was the second-highest-scoring competitor. Outside the WikiCup, he had eight other featured articles, five A-class articles, eight other good articles, and two Four Awards. Vami also wrote an essay on completionism, a philosophy in which he deeply believed. If you can, please join us in honoring his memory by improving one of the articles on his to-do list.
Remember that any content promoted after 27 February but before the start of Round 2 can be claimed in Round 2. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, feel free to review one of the nominations listed on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Page move
Hello, ZooBlazer,
Well, you were wrong and then you were right. We don't go back and retroactively change AFDs to match the current title of the page. There are some AFDs that list previous discussions where the same article is listed under two or even three different page titles that were appropriate when the deletion discussion happened. Also, with so many articles getting moved on a daily basis, we can't go back and change every mention of them under a previous page title and alter it. It's more important to know what page title the article was at when the discussion happened. But what's important is that you had second thoughts and changed your mind. It's much better than making a mistake and digging your heels in, refusing to admit you made an error. Good job! Liz Read! Talk! 19:26, 7 March 2024 (UTC)
- I just noticed the notice about the Portland Trailblazer article getting featured status. Congratulations! Are you in the Northwest? I am although I haven't been to a game in years. Liz Read! Talk! 19:28, 7 March 2024 (UTC)
- @Liz I'm from the PNW, but not there anymore. Hopefully I will be again someday. I grew up with the Blazers being my favorite team and that hasn't changed as I've gotten older. -- ZooBlazer 19:58, 7 March 2024 (UTC)

New Pages Patrol newsletter April 2024
Hello ZooBlazer,
Backlog update: The October drive reduced the article backlog from 11,626 to 7,609 and the redirect backlog from 16,985 to 6,431! Congratulations to Schminnte, who led with over 2,300 points.
Following that, New Page Patrol organized another backlog drive for articles in January 2024. The January drive started with 13,650 articles and reduced the backlog to 7,430 articles. Congratulations to JTtheOG, who achieved first place with 1,340 points in this drive.
Looking at the graph, it seems like backlog drives are one of the only things keeping the backlog under control. Another backlog drive is being planned for May. Feel free to participate in the May backlog drive planning discussion.
It's worth noting that both queues are gradually increasing again and are nearing 14,034 articles and 22,540 redirects. We encourage you to keep contributing, even if it's just a single patrol per day. Your support is greatly appreciated!
2023 Awards
Onel5969 won the 2023 cup with 17,761 article reviews last year - that's an average of nearly 50/day. There was one Platinum Award (10,000+ reviews), 2 Gold Awards (5000+ reviews), 6 Silver (2000+), 8 Bronze (1000+), 30 Iron (360+) and 70 more for the 100+ barnstar. Hey man im josh led on redirect reviews by clearing 36,175 of them. For the full details, see the Awards page and the Hall of Fame. Congratulations everyone for their efforts in reviewing!
WMF work on PageTriage: The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers deployed the rewritten NewPagesFeed in October, and then gave the NewPagesFeed a slight visual facelift in November. This concludes most major work to Special:NewPagesFeed, and most major work by the WMF Moderator Tools team, who wrapped up their major work on PageTriage in October. The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers will continue small work on PageTriage as time permits.
Recruitment: A couple of the coordinators have been inviting editors to become reviewers, via mass-messages to their talk pages. If you know someone who you'd think would make a good reviewer, then a personal invitation to them would be great. Additionally, if there are Wikiprojects that you are active on, then you can add a post there asking participants to join NPP. Please be careful not to double invite folks that have already been invited.
Reviewing tip: Reviewers who prefer to patrol new pages within their most familiar subjects can use the regularly updated NPP Browser tool.
Reminders:
- You can access live chat with patrollers on the New Pages Patrol Discord.
- Consider adding the project discussion page to your watchlist.

- Per your request, the postponement of the article's Main Page appearance has been completed. Three TFLs in a row by the same primary contributor isn't the best idea anyway, and I didn't fully realize it was the case until after I had picked the article, so delaying this one until a relevant date is probably for the best. Thank you for your share in The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes, about "a video game released in October 2021, and the third game in The Dark Pictures Anthology. It's set in 2003 during the Iraq War and involves four members of the US Armed Forces having to work together with a member of the Iraqi Republican Guard in order to survive a monstrous threat that doesn't care about nationalities."! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:51, 22 October 2024 (UTC)
My story today is about a composer and choir conductor, listen to his Lamento. - My story on 13 October was about a Bach cantata. As this place works, it's on the Main page now because of the date (but Bach wrote it for the 20th Sunday, not the Tuesday after the 21st Sunday after Trinity). I sort of like it because today is the birth date of my grandfather who loved and grew dahlias like those pictured. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:17, 22 October 2024 (UTC)
